How do I stop them from calling?
- Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).
- If your number is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry you can file a complaint with the FTC.
- Block them with a call blocker:
Uniden DECT1288 blocks up to 20 numbers, plus Private and Unknown, with the reject tone, without ringing the phone.
Panasonic KX-TG106 blocks up to 30 numbers, plus all unidentified callers, with a busy tone, after the phone rings once.
JF Teck Caller ID with Ring Controller blocks up to 70 numbers, and can be set to always allow up to 100 to ring through.

I work with the MSR Group so I'll try to clear up all questions, whether you believe me or not.
We are based in Omaha, Nebraska and no where else, so if you're getting call from Arkansas or anywhere else besides a 402 number (area code of Omaha), then it IS probably a scam if they say they are the MSR group unless there's another group with the same name.
We do NOT ask for credit card numbers, don't give them to anyone over the phone in general.
The MSR group is expanding heavily and are hiring new people that are still getting used to the job and may not have the best skills yet. Also, many young people work here and it's the first job, as it is mine. Sometimes the machinery for the call service we use doesn't work and it annoys us as much as it annoys you when it messes up. Sorry for that inconvenience.
If you want to take your number off the list you can tell the person and there is a list of bubbles we fill in. Once says "Not Interested" and we click that and go on to the next caller. That just means we will not call you for that particular survey again, and if it is a bank survey then your bank may possibly reissue your number again. Sorry, we can't do anything about that, ask your bank.
You can also get off of our list by going to the MSR site and going to the tab where it says "remove from call list". You can google it.
I'll let you in on a little secret, on 99% of the questions on our surveys we have a "refused" option next to "excellent, good, just okay, poor, or terrible". If you truly feel uncomfortable answering then just say that or something along those lines and we'll move right along, in fact its much better that you struggling to decide what to answer because we're working on our numbers which reflect our paycheck. But I'll tell you that all bank surveys are very impersonal and we don't pay for them because they're for YOUR benefit. This is the chance for you to complain and you get no gruff about it because we can only say a certain range of words. They record our messages not only to make sure they hear your messages, but to make sure we keep in line. We're just the middle man, or messengers if you will. It is a very strict environment where if we get four strikes we're "out" (three we get reprimanded), so I apologize if we give you a very impersonal-sounding reply, we have no choice. As it should be because they didn't become a national public opinion firm by having unprofessional conversations.
Many of us really don't "like" bothering you people, we're just doing our jobs. You may say, "get a real job", but is a real job. It may be bottom rung, but you aren't gonna get far in the drive through at mcdonald's or get through cashiering quickly without "bottom rung people". In our society every "rung" is needed, as meager as it seems. We are working here to make sure accurate results are recorded. Most of us just want a pay check and could care less about your opinions, as pessimistic as that sounds. I should think you should be somewhat happy to know that businesses want your opinions instead of just going on and not caring about what you think.
I have strayed a little bit, and I apologize, but I hope I answered everyone's questions. I, personally, cannot do anything so please don't ask me to stop calling.
Sorry for any inconvenience.
I am now receiving several phone calls a day from this number -- one a day since last Monday, and two today.
This includes weekends
I do not answer calls on my cell phone when I don't recognize the number, and there is no name displayed on caller ID.
I went to their web site -- they have a link at the top of the page to be removed from their call list, which I did. I also sent them a message indicating that they might want to display their name on caller ID, as I absolutely will not answer any phone calls from a number I don't recognize, where there is no caller ID info.
Why are they calling?
The MSR Group They are a research company. Research, surveys are not on the DO NOT CALL LIST because they are not TELEMARKET. I picked up it was regarding BBVA service, etc. Short call. Polite and ask to be removed from list.
telemarketing
This is a marketing research group. If you go to their website you can be removed from their call list. The website is themsrgroup.com
They called at 9:50PM. That really gets me! Did not answer after realizing the ID as hard for me to get to phone. Just another of the many calls even though on the do not call list.
402-452-3144 is the "MSR Group", they call several times a day. they need to be sued
"The Government" is working, your reading comprehension is not. It has been mentioned in this thread, and apparently needs repeating. For the umpteenth time, the DNC registry is for telemarketers, meaning sales. Charities, debt collectors, political speech, and surveyors are all exempt as they are not included in the FTC definition of "telemarketing". This was made known to you when you registered your numbers.
To get the kind of control you are wishing for, you would have to defeat a phalanx of lobbyists who will all argue that various parts of the economy would grind to a halt without the ability to cold call. The real problem is how the privilege of exemption becomes abused.
How do you get these people to STOP calling ??!
The DO NOT CALL LIST is definitely another example of the Gov't not working.
I gt these calls all the time and more and we are on the DNC list.
The loop holes are huge for the do not call list. ....anytime you stay in a hotel. anytime you register a product etc..these people can call..
This is ridiculous. Why can't we simply Block any call we want , so they just cannot call? That should be an easy option on all Land lines. I am thinking of giving up my land line.
They call several times a day. Their message on our machine is cut off in the beginning but what is recorded asks about getting a lower interest rate for a mortgage. We are on the Do Not Call List and they are NOT doing a survey.
Constant calls 3-4 times a week. If I answer, there isn't anyone there. If it goes to voicemail, no message is left. I've tried answering several times and they ALWAYS just hang up. I seriously doubt it's a survey company because if it was, they would say something when I answer. It isn't possible they would not be able to hear me when I answer 10 different calls. If that was the case then their service is crap and/or I should be removed from their call list. I finally switched to a different VOIP provider who allows me to block individual numbers. Now they get a number disconnected signal and I'm not bothered, but my call logs show they STILL call several times a week.
Just stop calling -- not interested if you are not leaving a message in voice mail.
unknown
May I advise you and other newcomers these forums are strictly for call recipients to share their findings. They are NOT direct open channels to the phone bank boiler rooms we comment upon.
quit calling me
Please do not call my phone number. I am on the national DO NOT CALL registry, and have no business with you. Do NOT call me, Do NOT call me, Do NOT call me!.
4:20 P.M. Number called cell phone...did not recognize number so I did not answer...googled it and found this page...Opened a new account with compass (BBVA)last week..so definatly connected...I think its just them seeing how service is..wich I think alot of companies do. I just wish they wouldn't had used my Cell line.
Someone from Compass Bank called on my cell # which I have listed on the Do Not Call list. They asked me about my satisfaction for a recent transaction. I have never had an account with Compass Bank. I told them they had the wrong number. I am reporting them to the Do Not Call Registry complaint line.
They called my cell phone and then hung up before I could get to it. So far, this is my first call from them.
this.is.annoying. No message, just a hang up. What good is it to have blocked calls when these calls still get through?
Hey Anna, I have an idea, don't be an ANNOYING phone survey moron who calls people on the Do Not Call List to ask inane questions if you don't want to be yelled at and sworn at on the phone. You people have NO business running up mine and other people's phone minutes asking your stupid ass questions. If we wanted to answer questions on service, we would call you.
Okay, I used to work for them:
- It's a legitimate survey company. We are not trying to sell you anything. We did a lot of banking surveys- your banks give us your phone number, and we ask you questions about customer survey satisfaction. It takes only about 5 minutes, and it's to help improve the bank's service; they can't improve if you don't give your opinion. Also, we did a lot of surveys where we actually pay YOU to take them- surveys about healthcare, food testing, music preferences, etc..
- We have an automatic dialer. It doesn't know time zones, so we can't really control when we call you. Employees work from 1pm-9pm M-F, and 9-1 on Sat., and 5-9 on Sunday.
- If you do not answer, your number goes on the callback list.
- We can't leave messages or voicemails.
- The Do Not Call list does not apply, because the MSR Group isn't selling you anything.
- If you do not want to take the survey, POLITELY ask the interviewer to put your name on the company's do not call list.
- If we accidentally seem to hang up on you, it might just be a bad connection, and we can't hear you...
- Many people swear and yell and it's not the employees' fault... being a telephone interviewer is not easy. If you don't want to do the survey, that's fine. But don't take out your anger on the interviewer.
They just called the home number at 8:44pm on a Sunday night. I don't even want to talk to people I like at 8:44pm on a Sunday night much less these tele-stalkers. Just blocked it, now if they try to be persistent, we won't even hear it ring. Buh-bye.
Evidentally, MSR Groups' computer system is fully automated and not under human supervision. A bit of programming to account for time zones may be required.
Also, the computer system determines when the person on the other end of the line has picked up. Interviewers do not receive any information until the computer system has judged that the person has already said "hello." If you do not answer, your number will automatically go back on the "callback" list. Remember, we call in the central time zone... the latest anyone works is 9 p.m. We don't leave messages.
The MSR group is a market research group. We're not included under the "Do Not Call" list, as we're not trying to sell anything. We do a lot of surveys for banks, colleges, and local area opinion polls. The banking surveys are the ones we do most nation-wide, and they only take about 5 minutes; they're just about your recent visit to ____ Bank... how it was, was the teller friendly, etc. We're only allowed to log calls after the entire 5-minute (or however long) survey is completed. Only if you want, you can provide your name and number to us to pass along to the bank if you'd like to discuss an issue or problem you've had with your recent banking experience. Otherwise, we don't take any of your personal information. As for wrong time zones, or wrong time of day or evening, that's up to the computer system to randomly decide.
The MSR Group is a small market research firm located in the Midwest. They are not selling anything; and do survey research only, albeit poorly. You can answer the phone safely if you feel like participating in a legitimate survey. They are not telemarketers and are thus not included under the Do Not Call rules. However, they appear to run a sloppy operation, poor quality control and terrible list management. Calling the wrong time zones at the wrong time of day and evening. If you want to make your customer base angry, this would be the company to use for your customer satisfaction studies.
They just called and hung up after 8 rigs before we could answer. Idots.
They called my cell phone at 6:54pm, Oct. 20th. I didn't answer and they didn't leave a message. I looked them up online and found that they are MSR Group. Aside from being annoyed, I am puzzled as to how they got my cell phone number. What dingus'!!!
Received a couple of calls from them. I have the ringers on my home phones turned off. If its important, I can hear the incoming message the caller leaves on my machine. Other than that, I'm blissfully unaware or these ridiculous calls from these ridiculous companies.
They just called here at 9:54 pm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We didn't answer and have two young, sleeping children. HORRIBLE! I can't believe ANY company calls at this hr. We are on the Do Not Call list! GRRR!
I work for MSR and I can assure you we are not allowed to leave messages. and to the person who said "they are probably logging hang ups as completed calls" let me tell you that the only way we can have a completed survey is if the script actually gets to the end. apologies to those people who repeatedly receive calls. for future reference, the bank surveys only take five minutes (many times much faster), in case anyone was wondering
They've called me twice today - once this afternoon, and again this evening. They leave no message on the answering machine. When I get a call from a number I don't recognize and they don't leave a message on the answering machine, I know it's someone I don't want to talk to. Someone below said that Compass Bank is involved and I use Compass Bank, so that makes me pretty mad at the bank. I'm on the Do Not Call List and I will report this call.
I just received a call from this number and connected it with Compass Bank, who has been harassing me since January over an account that is not mine. I have talked to many people, including the legal department, and I still receive calls. Companies like this (Compass Bank) need to go out of business, if they are too ignorant to keep their clients straight. MSR should do their research before harassing "clients" of clients.
This group calls five to six times a day - if no call they keep calling Annoying
This MSR Group called here at 9:45PM last night. To late for anyone to be calling unless it's an emergency.
We were sleeping as we have to get up at 4:00AM to get ready for work. I answered just so the phone would stop ringing. When I said hello, they said something I didn't understand and hung up. I'm reporting as we are on the "Do Not Call" registry.
Have not answered calls as this is Market Research Group out of Omaha, NE. They have called several times a night for the past few nights.
no message
Called today at 6:32pm no message. I didn't answer.
Answered call. Asked "Hello?" twice. I could hear typing and then the call was disconnected. They're probably logging their "hang-ups" as completed calls.
they call 7 times a day never answer!!
ID said "The MSR Group" and they left a very nasty voice message. WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE??
2:54 pm. Left no message.
Josh, how do you know someone else didnt leave a message? Telemarketing rules state a company can call someone twice a day, and leave one message. Nobody is giving the company a bad name, a lot of us just have better things to do than give our "important" opinions. When I answered, guess what? Nobody responded. Hopefully MSR can track what employee is leaving comments like this. Not the brightest decision in the world my friend.
for the guy who said they left a message, you are lying. i work for them and we aren't allowed to leave messages, so stop trying to give the company a bad name. just like the rest of you who say you get many calls a day or that no one answers.....we are there and we do not call many times a day....so tell the truth and stop trying to give the company a bad name!!!!!
I'd was The MSR Group. Just got call at 9:50. Answered, said hello, nothing. This is about the fourth call. Answeed two other times, same thing. Irritating. I only answered to tell them to take me off list. Will report to do not call site.
called me in austin, tx 5/8/2009 @ 1:47pm
I found a link to sudoko on there website this is definatly a SCAM! heres the link themsrgroup.com
We get an average of 5 calls/week from this "The MSR Group". When we don't answer the phone, they leave a message saying, in effect, who they are and if we don't want any more calls, just answer the phone and tell them we don't want to participate and to remove our number from their list. When we do answer the phone, no one picks up.
How in the H___ do we stop this continuous harassment?
This is an Omaha, NE area code. I live in Omaha. Might be telemarketers.
Here is the web site for The MSR Group. They are a Market Research Company.
themsrgroup.com
Called five times in a row when I picked up they hung up
Answered phone, asked "Hello?" twice, no response, call disconnected.
I just googled this number and this website came up. getting calls!
Unfamiliar with name or number so didn't answer, didn't leave a message.
Msr Group is a valid public opinion poll based in Omaha (the "telemarketing capital" of the US.) They are legit and usually just want to ask questions about healthcare, pharmacies, etc. I answered their questions about my recent trip to the ER and ended the call politely. They're not out to get anyone, I have a friend who works for them.
No message left.
This is third call I have received on my cell phone. Left no message. I'm also on do not call list.
said they were doing a survey on pharmacies
This number appears to be affiated with United Interstate, a collection agency. I've received one call from them on March 21, 2008 but have received other calls from other numbers prior to this date. Some callers have left messages, others have not, using the very same caller ID number.
Nebraska call asked me, "Are you Ms.xxxx?(which is NOT my name, attempted to get my real name),I'm calling from HSBC."
Also asked me,"We are calling for survay. Have you recently used HSBC online banking transaction through AT&T online provider?"
Do not give any of your information to those guys! They try to get your personal information with some false questions. Do not correct their information about you. Also this phone # is registered as an residential phone line, not a business phone according to Intellius.com. If it's really from the major bank such as HSBC, the caller ID should be shown as HSBC(not 'Nebraska call')...don't you think?
Called on my cell phone at 8:40pm on a Friday night.
Did not answer - unknown # on caller ID.
Didn't recogize the # didn't answer
called my cell, which is STILL on the do not call list. i didn't answer as i usually do with unknown numbers.
I keep getting calls from this number. I have not answered nor wil I because it only shows the phone number on my ID.
These people called me at 9:31pm which is against the law. Came up on called id as unknown caller. Didn't answer phone but am keeping the number on the # on record just in case.
MSR public opinion polling company - I didn't answer - called the number back and an answering machine stated the above info
HSBC cancelled me because I didn't use nor want their card in the first place. Funny they call wanting anything of me now. Kiss off
Called my cell phone. I'm not familiar w/ the number.
Caller Id showed "The MSR Group". I didn't answer, assuming it was telemarketers. First call on 2007 May 15
MRS public polling company calling for a telephone research survey
They said thy represented
HSBC Bank
Message [Are you the person or is the person there who has an account with HSBC.]
