Who is The Pisa group and why do they keep calling my cell phone? I do not want these calls.

They never leave a message, but call every day in the evening (usually around 7:30)

i just moved here and got this number and I am getting phone calls from this number constantly!! every day several times a day. It hangs up when my answering maching message comes on.

I looked them up on their website and called them at 314-845-2825. The guy said he would take my number off their list. Was very nice about it.

I've continued to get calls from this number. Fortunately, with the information provided by many of you, it's been verified that the number belongs to The Pisa Group. This is a legitimate call center, concentrating on selling newspaper subscriptions. I went to their website and drilled down to contact us. Emailed their corporate office respectfully requesting them to remove my number. I think that should work.

So I saw a post with someone's suggestion to call 314-845-2825. The guy asked me if I'd ever called THEM to tell THEM to put me on THEIR DNC list. I informed him I didn't have to because they are obligated by law NOT to call anyone on the NDNC list and I've been documenting their calls and reporting them. I also explained I am a consumer reporter (which I am) and that I find myself living in the news story. What could he do to ensure their company would not break the law again?

I WOULD NOT WASTE MY TIME CALLING LONG DISTANCE. FILE A NDNC COMPLAINT. I called fishing for a story to help everyone. My long dx can be written off. Go to:
donotcall.gov and file your complaints. The more they get the more PISA will be fined for not purchasing and following the list. THAT is how you stop them

I have worked for the Pisa Group. It is the worse job anyone can have, constant harrassement by the managers. If you do not pitch the people at least 3 times, you will be wrote up. You must continue to call the numbers that are provided. Trust me when i say, we do not want to harrass you but if we dont, we will be terminated. It is a job, the lowest paid job I have ever had and the most stressing job as well. We are told to push the newspaper subscriptions across the United States until we take more than 3 no's from the customer, if they do decide to buy the paper, we then push to get their credit card number. When they pay in advance, the newspaper will continue their subscription after the time at a much higher rate. All of it is very very shady.

They call my cell phone (I don't know how they got it), let it ring once or twice, then hang up. When I call back, I got a recorded message saying they represent an offer for my local newspaper (314 is a St. Louis area code; I live in Memphis), and they are sorry they can't take my call, but please leave a message. When I am forwarded to the voice mail, it is always full.

I have been getting this call once a day for the last 2weeks. I answered it 2times and just ignore it now. The number they are calling is my cell phone, wish I am able to tell them to stop and I am not interested.

I called the number that Tony gave and they agreed that it would be removed within 24 hours. If not, I WILL take it further. This is so bothersome!

Literally hundreds of calls to my cell phone, usually 6 per day. Finally registered my cell number on the do not call gov list, waited 1 week and finally answered their call. Yes, they're pitching newspapers based on where they think you live. Told them to check the do not call list. One more call and I report them.

These calls are very annoying they call up to four times a day early morning and late evening...my mom is in the other room in hospice care dying of cancer and things are busy with nurses..chaplains..i am a single mom and also social workers family friends and support groups..in between distribution of meds and caregiving i have to find time for sleep and these people continue to call and call and call and on a daily basis!

Called the 1-314-845-2825 number as suggested by Carol since i didn't know how old the posting is i thought that they might be tipped off to the whole Brian Johnson thing so I simply asked the person who answered the phone to remove my number from their list. she was polite and told me that it could take up to 72 hours so if i received any calls within that time to please disregard.

I answered the call immediately, but no response. When I called back, got a recording that they were representing my newspaper with a special offer. It said I could leave a message, but the voice mailbox was full. No surprise- we are all sick of telemarketers not following the law. I filed an online FCC complaint immediately. I followed Carol's advice/phone number she gave. You reach a noisy call center. When I asked for Brian Johnston, the girl said he was on a call & offered to help. I told her they are violating the Federal No Call List & I don't want them to ever call me again. She gave me an Acct Manager, Randy. (Probably just the telemarketing rep sitting next to her!) He apologized & said he'd get me removed from the list immediately. As far as call centers go, both reps were polite, well-spoken & professional.

Note- I DID have a newspaper sub several years ago, so this is possibly a legit outsourced attempt to re-sub me, but I'm not interested.

keeps calling constantly finally answers to get them off my back and they say my last name and tell me they are sending me a pkg to me asap, What does that mean I dont know but I will not accept anything from some stranger or pay for anything I didnt order. We were getting phone calls every day from PAPER. We had just cancelled our local newspaper. After researching on line, we called our local newspaper and asked them for help in getting our name off this list. Hopefully this will work.

These calls are from The Florida Today newspaper. I cancelled my subscription and they call on the average of two times a day. I have asked them repeatedly to stop calling and they continue. Call 1-314-845-2825, and say the following:

"This is (Your Name) calling for Mr. Brian Johnston."

When the person asks you what the call is about, tell them you are calling about your newspaper subscription.

I got put through right away to Mr. Johnston.

I then proceeded to inform him that I had no interest in starting or renewing (whichever the case may be) any newspaper, including the one I used to subscribe to.

I then TOLD him, very firmly, but nicely, to remove my phone number from their list.

He promised to do so right away, but for me to allow 24 hours for the information to take effect.

If I get called again, I will let you know right away, AND I will contact the FCC.

It probably is the subscription people. I canceled my subscription to the paper here in New Orleans about 3 months ago, after having it for over 25 years. Just started getting these calls in the last two weeks. Guess I'll have to answer. I just dont read a paper anymore.

This is a Newspaper subscription service. They want to get you signed up to receive the newspaper. I suspect they deal with several newspaper agencies throughout the country. We finally answered their call the other night and told them to take our name off their calling list. They had called us at least 20 to 30 times over the last two weeks. The representative got mad and told us not to be so defensive, but told us he would remove our number, which they apparently have because we have not received a call since. We are in the Phoenix Az. area.

The caller id name shows "Paper" - is this from St. Louis? when it calls there is no one at the other end. When I returned the call a recording says it is in regard to a newspaper but does not say which one and the the v-mail box is full. Sounds like a really productive operation.

I have received multiple calls from this number over the past few weeks. I recieved 3 on 5/17 alone. I finally answered the call 5/19: the caller said he represented my local newspaper (AZ Republic). I told him I did not want the paper & why. They called again today, 5/20, & did not leave a message. When I called their number, I got a recording that says they represent "your local newspaper". I wanted to leave them a message to stop calling but their vm was full.

Pisa Group does marketing for local newspapers, trying to get people to renew subscriptions. If you have a relationship with your local paper (previously subscribed/advertised with them), then it does not violate DNC list. Just answer the call (or call them), ask to be removed.

If you have not registered on the National Do Not Call Registry, do it. Then, when people like this call you can report them. I've done this with other numbers and they stop calling within 24 hours. If enough of us do this, it might get the message out.

These people have been calling my cell phone at all hours from as early as 7am to as late as midnight. This has gone on for several weeks multiple times a day. I never answer. It's beginning to feel like harassment.

If your telephone # is not on the Federal Trade Commission's Telemarketer registry, adding it should help stop some (possibly all) of these type calls. It's called the DO NOT CALL Registry. Register by web at: donotcall.gov
or by telephone at 1-888-382-1222. It might take a few weeks for it to go into effect but once it does if Telemarketers keep calling you, you can file a complaint (Form 1088) on the Federal Communications website esupport.fcc.gov. If Telemarketers call a person who's number is on the DO NOT CALL Registry, they can be fined a hefty fee. But you have to get your # added to the list and It's a FREE service. It doesn't stop collectors from calling but it should stop calls like this one because this company is calling to sell Texas Newspapers and then when you turn them down , they start trying to sell you your local newspaper.

They keep calling 2-3 times a week, sometimes twice a day.

I have bee receiving call from 314-963-8895 since March 1, 2008 - they don't leave a message ever. But they do call more than once a day. Instead of We The People having to put our private home numbers into a No Call List (which I did and doesn't seem to work) it should be the other way around!

These people are Pisa Group (thepisagroup.com) who are trying to get you to subscribe to a newspaper. When they next call, ask them which paper, then call the subscription department of the newspaper and complain. Worked for me.

They call me about twice a day and when I answer, they hang up. When I try to call back, it's always busy. QUIT CALLING!!!

These calls are frequent and annoying / I have subscriptions when I want subscriptions / not interested & won't be interested

They have been calling me for a couple weeks now. Usually daily. I'm on the west coast so it's usually very early in the morning (6am'ish)

my caller id showed PISA GROUP I think they are linked to World Market and Hybrid Calling Centers. Those three numbers keep repeatedly calling me. No one has the number they are calling but me and Time Warner Cable. Contact the Texas State Attorney General's Office. I am doing so tomorrow. Let them know so they can take action, and they will.

They must be some blanket telemarketing outfit for several newspapers. They called to offer me a discounted (NOT FREE) subscription to the Washington (PA) Observer. Jackasses.

Based on comments and a web serach, this may be the organization originating the call. It is possible that an outbound dialler is originating the calls and not completing to the telemarketer.

This number has called twice. Dead air when answered and no answer when a return call is made.

The name that came up with this number is Chris Pearson. We did not answer because we did not know the name.

I received a call from this number at 9:00 pm. Caller ID said "Pisa Group". Who are they? I went to their website "thepisagroup.com " and watched their video. They Sell Newspaper subscriptions.

I emailed every manager on this website: thepisagroup.com and demanded my phone be removed. Then, I emailed them again. I guess I'll fill up their email boxes until those morons get the hint.

I keep getting calls from this number. After reading the postings, I have a suggestion. Next time someone calls to verify your account number, You ask them for the number and tell them you will confirm if that is what is on your card!

My caller ID shows them as the Pisa Group.They are supposed to be a marketing firm hired by my local paper to get people to sign up for auto pay]THey mangles the name of my paper,and got very upset when I would not give out my C.C info on the phone.I called my local paper complained.They apologized and will "handle it".

These calls could be fraud, and possible telephone hackers. Watch your phone bills carefully and report any fraud to the FBI, your telephone company and any other communications business. Hacking phone lines is a billion dollar business, be watchful of these frauds.

They had me sort of worried. They would repeatedly call and there was never anyone there, then the line hung up. Finally someone was on their end and they said they were selling subs. for St. Paul Pioneer Press. I said I did not want to subscribe and she still asked me "for my information." I do not think this is a good company. They are inconsiderate, maybe worse. (The girl said she was in Missouri but she had a Northern accent.)

I just received a call from the above number for the 2nd time today. I have been getting calls from them just like everyone else. However, today I actually talked to someone and told them to never call my number again. They very rudely explained why they were calling. It was for my local paper in Kansas and they wanted to reward me for paying my bill on time with a promotion. I quized them and asked multiple questions. He rudely answered them and I thanked him for taking me off the list. If they call back, I'm going to threaten to sue for harrassment.

This company can not leave messages because the FCC ruled messages could not be left when selling a product or service. This was a result of complaints received from the public that you did not want messages left. Now I am reading comments that the public is upset because the business does not leave messages. This number rang my cell phone last night at 830pm, this morning at 830am, and again at 1145am. It's a marketing service trying to sell me "The Oakland Press". I have told them over and over and over again to stop calling me. I had "The Oakland Press" once in the past and DONT want it anymore. They just keep calling. They've rang my phone every other week for the past 3 months. The last time I talked to them (11/22 at 10am) the man was quite rude to me when I told them, for the 20th time, to stop calling me. Funny, isn't it?

Got a call from this number (my 1st but from this site prob. not my last)on 10/16/06 at 7:18. Googled it, like everyone else, and found this site. I'm on the DNC list also but I think these people need a civil suit. According to the telephone consumer protection act of 1991 you can get monetary awards of $500 per call, or triple that amount if they willfully and knowingly violate the DNC list. See fcc.gov for more details on how to do this. I threatened to sue a company who did this same thing and they handed over $1,500.00 rather quickly to avoid being taken to court. Funny thing is they called me again only a week after I got the check. That was another $500 in my pocket, lol. With this site I think it is easily proven that they are willingly and knowingly violating the provisions of the TCPA and if we all threaten to sue these bastards we can hit them where it hurts!

Two different callers from the same area code and company called me within a week of each other. They called my cell phone repeatedly in the evening hours (while I was at work), and never left a message. I could not get through when I called back.

Finally each got ahold of me, and both tried to sell me a more expensive subscription to my newspaper than the one I had just cancelled not two weeks before. They didn't even get the name right, claiming to be from the 'Lexington Herald' rather than the 'Lexington Herald-Leader'. It's not terribly believable when you don't even know the name of your 'company'.

I asked them not to call, and the more smooth-talking of the two indicated that they would call when a month had elapsed, then promptly hung up before I could protest.

This group was calling my cell phone everyday. When I answered, no one was there. When I called, no one answered or it rang and rang. Thank you to the person that put the link to the the PISA group in their comment. I called the person in the same area code on their site contact page and the calls stopped 2 days later. Thanks again!

We have three numbers, all private and all on the do not call list. Pisa Group has been repeatedly calling them everyday.
But I have a new tactic for you folks- answer the call, talk slowly, make them hold a bit, then tell them no. Take their time up!!!

This is just my first call-from the looks of this site it looks like I have a lot to look forward to.

I have been getting calls from these people constantly, sometimes several times a day, for months. All that shows up on caller ID is the number and location "Ladue, Mo." The only message on the answering machine consists of a ringing phone and something like, "If you'd like to make a call, please hang up and try again." Lately, the calls have ended with some loud ringing sounds. I NEVER answer my phone or call back if I don't recognize the number or don't know who's calling if they leave a message like "we want to talk to you about your account." So I've ignored it up until now, but I got so fed up today I tried to call back and got only a busy signal. I Googled the number and found this site. When you check the phone number it traces to someone named Matthew McClure in St. Louis, but I see that someone in the comments said he finally got an answer and it was something called the Pisa Group. I work for a newspaper and have an employee subscription, so if it's newspaper-related that probably explains it (my paper's on the Pisa Group client list). But sheesh, what a way to win enemies, being so annoying. I had not gotten around to doing the "no call list" thing, but I just did today, not that it does much good, judging by some of the comments from people who are on the list yet still receive these calls. So far, it's only my home phone and not my cell. That much is a blessing.

Guess I need to put my privacy manager back on my phone.Swithched phone services and did not think I would need,man was I wrong.A couple bucks xtra on my bill is well worth it.Had it before and didnt have this problem.I also emailed them to stop.Thanks Newspaper and Ray.

I have received 3-4 calls per week for the last 2 weeks from this 314-963-8895 number. I never answer since I don't know who the hell it is. Found out to day and sent an email to the St. Louis site manager requesting to stop calls. See below for info.

They are an outsoursed telemarketer with comoputers dialing the numbers. So if you ever had a news paper delivered by one of the client's then you on ther hot list.

They keep calling. When I pick up, my phone says "Missed Call". Call back, and there is no answer. I just stopped my subscription with my local newspaper so if it's the Pisa Group, it's probably related.

Well, they aren't very good telemarketers if they keep hanging up on people that they call.

Live in Syracuse, NY and these bastard have called my house twice a day for the past week and left no message. Like everyone else I have called back and no one answers. Maybe we should go to the Pisa link and call their employees at their homes during random ass times during the day. Maybe they'll get the point then.

These idiots need to get a life. They never leave a message of speak when the phone is answered. Two year olds have more manners then they do!

I have received countless phone calls from them and refuse to stop. I was told by the phone company the only way to make it stop was to call the police or change my #.

I called the St. Louis call center and Spoke to "Brian". I asked to be put on their do not call list. Hopefully it works.

Since my last report I have received calls from (314) 9638895 on Sept 6 @ 10:38AM and 7:37PM, on Sept 7 @ 12:02PM, on Sept 8 @ 12:16PM, and on Sept 11 @ 11:51. They leave no message ever. When I try to call back on a restricted line, I either get a busy signel or no one answers. These calls are annoying and a violation of criminal law.

I forgot to mention that when I "Googled" the phone number the first hit I got was a private residence in St Louis, Mo. (at least it looked like a house from the Google aerial photo.

These people have called many times over the last 2 weeks. They said thaey have some introductory deal from the local newspaper. Today I told the caller to put my number on their "do not call list". The response from the BOZO on the other end was "How do I do that?"
Maybe I'll call the paper and see if they hired this outfit...

Didn't answer the call, and no message was left. I checked out the number on google and was surprised to see this site.

This number shows on my i.d. on 9/8 and 9/9. I also called the number back with no answer. Something sounds very suspicious. I am contacting the FCC also.

They have called here in KY numerous times. I am on the no call list STOP CALLING!!!

This number has called me twice and no one spoke when I picked up the phone. It is very annoying.

I have received calls from this number on August 29 at 6:31PM, August 30 at 8:06PM, on August 31 at 7:34PM, on September 2 at 1212PM and on Sept 5 at 1139AM. It is annoying because the caller is up to no good or they would leave a message and never do.

When I Googled this phone number the top result is for a residence in Saint Louis. There's a name and an address.

Saw this number last night at 8:36 p.m on August 25, 2006. Called it back and the phone just rang.

They have been calling our home at least three times a day for the past six weeks. They always hang up when we answer.

They have called twice and left no messages. I know some people in St Louis so I called back to see what was up, but there was no answer. That is why I came here to see if someone else knows them. Please DNC

called yesterday and again today-if it is a sales call you are now reported as I am on the do not call list!!

They have called my cellular several times, including on a saturday. I answer only to get a hang-up. I reported them to the FCC since they are calling a number on the DNC list as well as using my dime on my cellular (which is illegal anyway!)

I have received 10 phone calls from this company so far and they hang up when I answer.

I also receive daily phones (about 2 weeks) calls on my cell from this number and also when I call back there is no answer. Today I was able to connect with them, they are called the Pisa group from St Louis ... they were soliciting subscriptions fro the Palm Beach Post (newspaper, Palm Beach County FL).

Twice they've called and not left messages. WHY are they calling on a Saturday morning??
