there is a federal law known as ' Fair Debt Credit and Collections Act ' which prohibits any debt collector from contactin you either in person or / and at any particular phone number under the following sole condition : You MUST send them this demand to the corporate office and send by Certified MAil to prove they received ... failure for them to adhere to this request / requirement is against Federal LAw and they may be sued for Harrassment . Get details on the US Government web site adn good luck .

Calls at least 3-4 times a day.also called after 8 O'clock pm,I go to bed early,i am not a young lady I'm a widow,75 years old.
I do not owe any back bills that I don't pay,so no reason for a bill collector to be calling me.Some times they leave a message on answer machine sometimes when I answer
they don't say a word.very distracting.

i get calls from them about once a week; i answer the phone using a different Language. i talk up a storm until they hang up; as soon as they start talkinng i cut them off and start over talking again. it's so funny and it cost them money to keep them on the line; thats why i do it. the longer i keep them on the phone the more it costs them. now i'm learning Chinese; that should get them!

Keeps calling for someone unknown to me & I keep telling them to stop calling my number, but they continue to call up to 2-3 times a day. They never leave a message.

zombie debt collector, looking for individual w/ like name. do not talk to debt collector on the phone, it will do you no good. Go to bud hibbs wed site or debtorboards; they show you how to deal w/ these pests.

This company is called AACC and when I goodled them I came up with a LOT of information. Apparently they are notorious for buying old debts and trying to get the person to pay. Check out 800notes.com and they also have the same as this site where you can list the numbers.. thanks to these 2 sites for keeping us informed

2008-07-10 00:40:48 UTCAnne

This number called my phone today and left a message on my answering machine...stating that if I continued to listen I was verifying that I was XXXXX XXXXXX. Surely that can't be legal. From what I've been reading on here, sounds like it's nothing but a company of scam artists and leeches.

2008-07-03 18:31:35 UTCNo name

Called customer service on the company website, thinking that speaking to a person that doesn't sit on a phone bank all day might work.

No such luck. They wanted my phone number to check and I stated that I wanted to deal with all this mess in writing. They wouldn't provide a mailing address.

This is only the 6th time they've called me, but I can tell I'm gonna "suffer" until that company really removes my number. I'm afraid that changing the number won't help.

These boobs keep calling despite the fact that for over 2 months we have told them that XXXXXXX XXXXXXX does NOT live here, never heard of them, and please quit calling. They idiot on the other end said she'd take us off the list. Was quiet for about 2 weeks, then again today they are starting up again, asking for the same person.

2008-05-30 12:31:57 UTCNeal Burton

Calls at 8:30 a.m. Must be computer generated, and you have to say Hello 3 or 4 times before you get response, by computer generated recording!

2008-05-06 14:14:00 UTCMike

Some lady called, woke me up and said that I owed them $4100. I've never owed any one that much, I pay cash for big purchases. They called my house which is on the Do Not Call list.

2008-03-29 12:51:24 UTCJerry

They said they were from some Fitness center about our account.....were looking for SSN.

2008-03-06 21:30:00 UTCJane

I found free letters on adviceontime.com that you can mail to this a@@holes to get them to stop calling you. They also have an article on how to deal with them. Fight back, they have to respect your legal rights.

I don't answer numbers that I don't recognize but there was a voicemail after so I checked it. I heard an automated voice starting to read an '866' number but it was interrupted by a woman saying 'hello' a few times with the sound of typing in the background. I've gotten several bizarre calls to this phone all looking for a "Steve. Most are debt collectors and the rest are cracked-out sounding women. We'll see if these people call back.

2008-02-05 18:37:45 UTCJuan

These people will call, write, and hound on anything they feel they can collect on. I paid the debt they were calling about. They keep calling anyway stating that their records do not reflect payment and offering a reduced amount to 'clear things up'.

2008-01-24 00:29:54 UTCsize

These clowns called a few minutes ago(first time) and said, this message is for G. $$$$$$$$ and by continuing to listen to this message you are agreeing that your are G. $$$$$$$$ and you must call our office immediately. They didn't give me time to hang up. While I am the person they wanted, I haven't any outstanding bills, I have recently cleaned up my credit, so unless I missed something from like 10 years ago, I have no clue what they are talking about...

2008-01-09 20:34:05 UTCJC

Have received aclls fro this number on numerous occasions. Called back the first time a call was received, told some jibberish name (could not understand) and hung-up.

This is a debt collection service (Asset Acceptance) that is very agressive and will leave messages if you have voice mail on an almost daily basis. They are now using auto dialers and the system is so bad it doesn't even recognize when it has been connected to voice mail. This company attempts to collect debts that are outside the statue of limitations. Do not answer the call. This company also likes to send lots of snail mail collection letters. Basically they look for individuals who have cleaned up their credit histories, have lots of available credit, then attempt to collect debts that are very old.

2007-12-13 19:10:04 UTCLeAnn

Keep calling even though who they're looking for isn't me!

I got a call from this number today. They did not leave a message so i called them back. The lady that answered asked how she could help me, so i explained that i just missed this call on my cell and was returning it. She asked for my name, I gave a false name, and my number. She said it looked like they had a wrong number and that she would take my cell phone off of their calling list.

2007-12-06 18:03:38 UTCjohn

These people are a pain in the ass. Never leave a message.

2007-11-20 20:54:05 UTCj

was leaving message saying "by not answering this call, you are verifying you are R. Fry. I'm not . Wife picked up phone, and hung it up. Lousy reverse directory they're using.

I have received several calls from this number.A recording says "We are calling Phillip Fowler, if you continue to listen, you are verifying that you are Phillip Fowler."

I immediately hang up. I do not know Phillip Fowler.

They still call me back later, although I had indicated that I was not Phillip Fowler.

I plugged this same tel # associated with AACC into Google, and got this site. Glad I did, because I owe no debt, but have old expired debts they're trying to follow up on probably. Up theres. I will retaliate if they do not cease and desist. Thanks for the warnings, everyone. None of us deserve harassment from such scumbags.

2007-11-09 17:34:38 UTCBJM

Hey, try this! I keep a whistle by my phone all the time. When those uneducated, worthless, can't get a decent job people call, I pick up my whistle and blow as hard as I can. That usually takes care of the problem; at least for that day. Or, sometimes I turn up the radio as loud as it will go and put the receiver next to it. Try it!

2007-10-31 19:24:31 UTCNarasee

Keep calling REPEATEDLY though I've told them on 4 separate times that the person they are trying to contact isn't at our residence.
Asset Acceptance is part of a MAJOR scam debt absorption syndicate. The research I've done on them makes me wonder how a company like this
can exist in the U.S. in 2007!

Then again, people feel that all the rules are out the window in the "George Bush Era".

Anyway, be VERY CAREFUL with these people and DO NOT give them any information.

BEWARE IT’S A DEBT COLLECTOR!!! EVEN WORSE, IT'S A ZOMBIE. ZOMBIES ARE OLD DEBT THAT THE CREDITOR HAS SOLD--for pennies on the dollar-- to companies such as ASSET ACCEPTANCE CORP. THEY HARASS AND THREATENED PEOPLE IN TO PAYMENT AGREEMENTS. THE TRICK IS, THE ZOMBIES DON'T HAVE ANY LEGAL RECOURSE TO COLLECT ON SAID DEBT. THIS IS WHAT MOST PEOPLE DON'T KNOW. THEY WILL TRY TO PUT NEGATIVE MARKS ON YOUR CREDIT HISTORY, BUT ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS CONTEST IT AND THE CREDIT HISTORY COMPANIES WILL REMOVE IT. DO NOT CALL THEIR TOLL FREE NUMBERS. REMEMBER, OLD DEBT THAT IS MORE THAN 7 YEARS OLD THAT HAS PASSED THE STATUE OF LIMITATIONS. YOU ARE SAFE AS LONG AS YOU DON'T AGREE TO A PAYMENT AGREEMENT. ONCE YOU ENTER INTO A PAYMENT AGREEMENT WITH THESE ZOMBIES, THE DEBT BECOMES BRAND NEW AND LEGAL. THEY ARE CALLED ZOMBIES BECAUSE THEY RESSURECT OLD DEBT FROM THE DEAD.

This is long gone from the credit reports as well, SOL is def over. No idea how they got my phone # as it is unlisted and I have moved several times since then. This company is horrible.

2007-10-11 05:06:02 UTCMe

They quit calling my house. They were trying to collect on a junk debt that was 10 years old from HSBC. Funny I have several accounts with HSBC now, so I don't think they are worried about it. Anyway, I finally answered the phone again and the lady said she was asking for my husband by name...I said I have no idea who that is and I demand you remove my phone # right now or I will sue. Not a peep out of them since then.

Just got a call from them. 248-220-8707. Automated voice stating that my wife owed money to someone. This is the first time I received a call on MY cell phone for my wife. This is a scam. We just bought a big house and didn't have any credit issues. Never give your SS # or any other info unless you are 100% sure they are the right folks. The message was to call some Brian Andrews at 866-266-6600

2007-09-17 15:32:27 UTCt

they called and asked for me in my maiden name. Curiosity got the better of me so I accepted the call. Turns out it was from a debt that was charged off on my credit report. They had my address, last 4 digits of my social. Needless to say the debt is not on my credit report as of today. This is from 15 years ago. My thoughts are pointing to Identity Theft

2007-09-14 20:02:58 UTCLiz

Called and asked for tammy or something. Obviously a wrong number. They have been calling for several weeks up till I just answered today. I called back to tell them not to contact this number since the person who called me hung up and was rude. Obviously they don't like there job. Oh well I like mine. Anyways if they relentless as many of you say, guess I am going to have to call the police for harrassment charges. I don't take to kindly to phony companies bothering me all day. I've better things to do.

this number call me twice a week I never answer number I don;t know but I called it back and a woman answered asking for me... that was strange since I called the number. When I asked who it was they said it was Ann Davis. I don;t know if it was her real name or if she was pretending to be my aunt... (I knew it wasn't may aunt because my aunt has a thick accent) When I asked if it was aunt ann she didn't answer then hung up but they keep calling every 3 days or so.

2007-08-23 16:24:03 UTCDMS

They called my cell phone, twice.
I didn't let them know I was the person the woman asked for.

I called my cell phone carrier and asked if they could block that number for me. They can't. They switched me over to their Corporate Security.
The Rep. told me to add my Cell phone number to the donotcall.gov "Do No Call" List.

Not sure it will be effective, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

2007-08-23 15:37:14 UTCShaede

They called back at 11:29 A.M. Est.
I picked up. A woman named Robin White asked for me.
Said she was from Asset Acceptance, a Finance Company.
I told her the party she requested isn't home at the moment and asked if I could take a message.

She said to have party call back at the following number: 1 (877) 768-9844

Any way I can get them to stop calling my cell w/out having to change my number?

Thanks

calling multiple times per day, leaving nasty messages threatening that I must call back immediately or unfortunate actions will be taken, or they call and refuse to give information as to what they want

2007-08-08 02:38:06 UTCsneakyfegeser

these guys are relentless vultures and have acquired a debt long ago deceased as far as statute of limitations go. in 1994 Bank of america sold this 200.00 debt along with other expired asset losses and they are the 3rd asset recovery firm to get a whack at coersing the orig party to renumerate a long dead debt. As long as this debt or any for that matter that has fallen off the legal time limit for recovery, as long as it remains without acknowledgement of having once been legitimate, NO Action Can Be Pursued. Ignore-Ignore-Ignore.Never Acknowledge Having ever been responsible for a debt that has expired.... You may inadvertantly revive it...

They called and said my husband and I owed $22000 dollars. My husband died 9 years ago. From a debtor that the estate paid off. They showed $3000 balance that grew to that huge amount with service and late charges. After nine year I did not have the paper work from estate. My attorney said after 7 years I did not have to keep. I asked for documentation numerous times from them. Finnally I asked to talk to supervisor and stated I wanted back up of their claim. They asked me to contact original debtor when I did they could not find account. Was to old and they said it would have been written off. AACC did not want to listen, I got mailing address from them sent certified letter telling them to get me documentation. I received one more call after that and have not heard from them since. That was 6 mo. ago. Guess they ever heard of SOL!

Asset Acceptance is calling from this number. They are a junk debt buyer who have a bad reputation in regards to how they collect on debts, including many violations of the FDCPA. Check out this website for more.

How do I stop them from calling?

  1. Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).
  2. If your number is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry you can file a complaint with the FTC.
  3. Block them with a call blocker:
