Agree that it's probably an international exchange, based on some link data for the IBFA Acquisitions thingy. If you want to call a relevant number that DOES answer - try this one, from the law firm that submitted their application to the FCC:

According to that page, the company isn't going to violate FCC rules about customer's proprietary info (i.e., phone numbers)! Leave that law firm a message that you don't like being called by this fraudulent company!

I was email spammed to buy a penny stock in a company call UNILAVA, which has a subsidiary called TELAVA that acquired IBFA Acquisition Company, LLC (see below). As part of my due diligence, I ran across this site regarding some questionable activities by IBFA.

These kind of companies behind multiple layers of companies to continue their questionable activities. Thanks for reporting your experiences here. While this may not be considered as a fraud and scam, trustworthy firms do not operate in this manner and it is not a company I would chose to invest in.

This number is showing on our caller ID at a branch office, they curse at our employees and say they are a collection agency for an online lending website. This location forwarded the calling information to our corporate location, and I am currently working on blocking that number from future calls. Not very nice people. The Number does show as 214-586-0999. I called it, somebody picked up, but wouldn't speak and I could hear noise and talking in the background, after several minutes of saying hello, I hung up.

It is the case for a police - people must be protected: they called me almost dozen times in one day.

I think this may be a skype thing -- I got voice mail from a friend who said he was dialing via skype, and I sent email asking if this is the number he called from.

i received 2 back to back calls at 4:30 AM!! I did not answer them because i was still half asleep, but there was a partial recorded message on my voice mail that said"again later" and then hung up. when i tried to call back in the morning, it says please wait while i connect you and then goes to hold with techno music???i did not wait to see who answered.

My boyfriend uses skype and when he had called me from it earlier today this number came up.

Received an international call from this number at 4AM. The unidentified caller spoke what I believe was russian language. It was really annoyed. I advised the caller not call anymore, which he did anyway, and I ended up disconnecting the line. Very f****** annoying.

This number is used as a caller ID by the Skype Internet Phone Service. If someone calls your phone number from Skype this will be displayed on your phone. The calls can originate from anywhere in the world...

I have been using Skype for years and previously the caller ID within the United States would be (000) 012-3456 or 'Out of Area'.

Today was the first time I had seen (214) 586-0999 so I called it back and was put on hold with some techno music. I stayed on the line and was eventually dumped into a massive conference call. Like one of those old party lines except with people all over North America.

My rule of of thumb when I get calls from numbers I do not know is to let it go to voice mail. If it's someone you know or a legitimate call, they will leave a message!!

Well, my car got broken into and I had a bunch of stuff stolen including my phone.
I got a new phone and this morning around 7:45am I got a call from this number and it was some techno music. I waited for about 3 minutes and then hung up. I wonder if there is any relation to my phone getting stolen.

Calls from this number can come from a Skype phone. I have a Skype phone and sometimes when I call people, 214-586-0999 shows up (but this is not my Skype phone number). Skype is not designed for caller ID to work properly in the USA.

it is a skype gateway number for people that call from skype since they dont actually have a phone number.. i got a call today and missed it.. come to find out it was my husband in iraq.

Yet another one. I told them not to call if it is for telamarketing, donations, or advertisment etc. The sad thing is, it is an international call and they can be using calling cards so if they get reported it goes to the calling cards and not them. Don't accept anything from these ppl.. it is a scam. Unless you do know someone over sea's who might be using a calling card to call.

This was not the first time we got a call from this number. Always hung up without said anything or leave a message.

This phone number is actually from overseas, i can tell by the accent the guy had (think it is in India) and they are actually identity theives, if they call you be very rough and demand to have your name and number removed or it will be taken to higher authority. I did it and the guy said he would in a scared toned, if that does not help I HIGHLY recommend for you to call your telephone company or whatever safety you feel to contact to secure your phoneline and persoanl information.

Called ID said International, but area code is Dallas, Texas. Never saw a call identified like this before, so I'm betting it is a bogus number. When I answered, the person didn't speak - there was silence. Maybe he pooped his pants.

They ask to speak to me. They want to send me a medical card and ask for my bank name and account number.
They continue to call through out the day. I can tell they don't speak English.

I just received a call from this number and it was an Indian lady calling telling me that my husband won a 3500.00 government grant. When I asked the lady where she was calling from she said Washington,DC. I then asked why her number was registrating as International and a 214#. She then hung up the phone. This is truly a scam ingnore this number if it is not family like some of the messages below have noted. Thank God that Oprah had a show about this. I was able to pick up the warnings before I knew it.

I recived a call on 04/21/08 they asked for my real name and I replied how can i help you they replied We would like to offer you a special on diet pills from what you had ordered last time online... THIS IS A SCAM TO GET YOU TO GIVE THEM YOUR CREDIT CARD INFO !!! BEWARE !!!!!

International Gateway shows up on caller ID. Person doesn't say anything when you answer

This might be one of these 419 Nigerian scammers... They are the terrorists and FBI should catch them...

A lady called... she didn't speak English... and mumbling something. Is this a scamming company or what? I guess I have to call FBI and deal with these assholes...

Call came in 60 seconds after our 'friends' at UNAS(signed) had called.
After reading through this, I think I may know what is up. Myspace has an IM feature that is allied with Skype. Skype could have been hacked (or their users), which would explain the mixed-up calls. Myspace is in the middle of a DDoS, and their IM system may be getting clobbered. This may be where some of the scammers are getting pieces of personal info.
All of which is highly speculative on my part. No message on my machine, and only checked the number since I know about a dozen people with 214 area codes.

A lady has called for the past two days. She knew my name and my husband's name and had a very heavy accent. I could hardly understand her. I told her we had a bad connection and she said...."wait, wait, wait....and I hung up both times. Very Strange. We ARE on a donotcall list, but are listed in the phone book.

I answered an add in the news paper for english bull dog puppies. Individual claimed he and his wife were on a Christian Mission trip in Africa. He called me to discuss payment and this # came up. I was concerned that I could be scammed out of my money. I looked at the comments and now realize maybe I am. Beware............

Today i got a call from the number on cell. 'cool' dude told me that i won. i said "great!" (sarcasm, i knew it was spam)then he said "So can i talk to Greg" or something like that, i told him "Sure his right here" (pretending to hand the phone to someone else) i said "Hello. Who is this?" And they hung up... Why? I don't know. any who the dude sounded really real like it had background noise and such. he also had breaks in his voice and stuff. now that i remember he also asked me for a mailing address and my credit card number.
Later that day i got another. it was a woman. She asked for credit number to. she then said to list terms and conditions press 1 now. I did. then it hung up on me... So in all. Don't answer the phone if its stupid things like that!!!

Got a call from that number a few minutes ago. It said International on caller ID. I picked up and heard a small far-away beep. I said hello twice then hung up. Also if you get a call from the same number but says other things like Dallas, Tx and such don't answer. They will call you every other minute if you do. Oh and they use skype sometimes. And are mostly fractured English speaking Spaniards.

This scumbag, who should put a bullet in his own brain, called my 16 year old daughter's cell phone. He claimed, in a thick Hindi accent, to be "Officer Paul Dawson" of the (obviously made - up) "United States National Medical Department of the United States Federal Government". I took the phone and, surprisingly, he continued to talk to me. After claiming my daughter, "due to her paying her taxes on time for several years", (though she is 16) was eligible for free medical care and would receive $500/month for 12 months. Obviously this is where he asked for her bank account information. Are there actually people who fall for this garbage? Please forgive my violent comments, but predatory scum like this need to be thrown off a cliff. How does he expect me to believe his name is "Paul Dawson"? I find this whole thing incredible, including the fact that this piece of human filth can apparently live with himself despite being a worthless sack of ****. He knew my daughter's first and last name, but had an incorrect, and fake sounding, address for her. Weird. "Paul", I hope you read this and cleanse the human race of your worthless self.

Received the call this morning, first caller id showed "out of area" I answered anyway and she advised she was in So. Africa and questioned if we were a doll site. I hung up and they called again but this time it showed "International"> I let the machine pick it up but they hung up.

that number is coming thru a computer call via SKYPE, which is basically a switch board number for PC callers in or via Dallas Texas and can be used through other countries such as Mexico

Manuel Bono called from this # claiming that I won $815,950.00 in a lotto from Madrid, Spain. Wants me to send in $1860.00 through Western Union to take care of fees. The call came up International. He will be waiting from now on for the money. Contacted the postal inspectors today for help.

Called 6 times one day , four times the next, then called at midnight followed it up by a call a 7am the next morning. (None answered) Finally got tired of it and called it back to bitch them out only to get the connection message. I immediately hung up. I have heard about some of these being incredibly expensive calls. Once it's placed they charge you extra money. One of my kids did this and I got charged 89.99 for the call. The phone company only refunded 20.00 after I complained. This is scary stuff. I'll be watching for my bill :-(

I am an apartment manager with a few tenants from Pakistan. I got a call from the 214-586-0999 number. The man on the phone stated that he was from Pakistan and that he was trying to get in touch with one of my tenants(he stated the tenants name) He asked for my tenants phone number and I refused to give it so he hung up. A minute later I received a call from the same person, except this time it said "Unknown Name, Unknown Number" He gave me a number to give to my tenant to call. It is 00971 502 836 536.. I have no clue what this is, but I don't think it is a scam. I think it is somewhat like a calling card. But I don't know!!

This number is from scam artists!! Don't answer it. We filled out information to rent a house listed on Craigslist. The next morning we received an email telling us to send money right away and they would send us keys and documents to a house that we later found out doesn't exist. Now this morning they are constantly calling. We are not answering. The number comes up 214-586-0999 as well as an international number. We have since received three more emails from different people trying to extort money from us. We ALL need to report this immediately to the proper authorities and stop these people. They are from Nigeria and are preying upon innocent people. They do not live in the states. Be careful everyone and DO NOT give them any information.

This number is just a number registered to a jump-off location for international calls. The call could be someone you know or someone you don't know. It could be from a VOIP, Calling Card, Credit Card at a pay phone or even a Cellphone. Ibfa Aquisition Company provides its services to outside companies needing the routing to your phone. They do business like this with companies all over. Think of it like this on a smaller scale when you hit roaming on your cellphone you are connected to a tower that is loaned to your cell service provider but in this case you would take the number of that tower location and provider. Thats the best way I can think to discribe it.

I just filled a prescription yesterday at a Wal-Mart Pharmacy for the first time. Then had three calls on my cell phone just after midnight last night from 2145860999. Several bloggers mentioned pharmacy related calls - the hacker is getting our personal information from the Wal-Mart data base. Wal-Mart is compromised. Probably hacking other data bases too. Credit card scams are huge business involving merchant services. Every time you swipe your credit card the machines they use store your information, and then the data is pulled off the machine and sold off. Glad I didn't use my bank card to pay.

Phone rang and I was unable to answer caller id displayed international and when I called number back and received message please wait while your call is connected aprx 10 mins later no call connected, several weeks later a 24 dollar charge from Nigeria appeared on my phone bill. I call this scamming and my phone company will not remove as it shows I made the call to Nigeria (not) I know no one in Nigeria. This is a scam nation.

Received a call from India. They were asking for my Husband (phone is in my name), and then attempted to start their script on mortgage rates. I told them I was on the Do Not Call List. He asked for my registration number and insisted that I was lying. He persisted on my "registration number". I had to hang up on him.

This is a router # used when somebody tries to call from the PC phone service Skype. You cannot return a call at this number, because it is only a server.. Instead, it will play non-stop techno music.

I got a call from this number 2months ago. It was from a girl in Moscow Russia. At the time she called she was wanting me to send money for visa and airline tickets and I had been talking with her for 2 months or so. I just found out that it is a Russian dating scam to get money from you. No shit? I called the number back the morning she called and got the music and left it at that. I looked up my2008.com cause didnt recognize phone number and website was in a foreign language. Okay people here's how this works: The number displayed on Caller ID is IRRELEVANT!!! Means nothing. Anyone can have any number show up on Caller ID. I answered the call because I have Anonymous call block, so when a call comes through with 'UNKNOWN' in the display but there is a number shown, 99% of the time it is a bogus deal so I just screw with them.
This time it was definitley a call from the middle east. The lady asked for me by my maiden name. I figure this was from another one of those online pharmacies trying to sell me drugs since I have had those calls for about 4 years now and I can't get rid of these dot-heads. I just ignore them or hang up on them once I hear the middle eastern accent they hear 'click'

214-586-0999 is a Dallas, TX number and on our recorder they identified themselves as U.S. Online Pharmacy. They say they have a complete line pharmaceuticals and left a call back number of 626-217-0934 which is in Los Angles, CA.

My son lives in Alaska and bought a Sears calling card. I live in Texas. He called tonight using this card for the first time. The first two times the phone rang, Caller ID gave this number and the word International. I could hear noise and someone in the background. No one would answer me and then a woman spoke Spanish and hung up. The third time he called, it said unavailable and we were able to talk. I am wondering if this is a scam by routing his calls through this number and if he will be charged a lot for the first times he tried to call.

This number has called numerous times., somedays numerous times per day- we answer the phone and there is no one there. After a minute the call disconnects. The caller is called "International" on caller ID.

I'm actually (one) of the callers, but probably not to you! I use SkypeOut telephony service, and one of my friends said I had this caller ID when I called him. So, if you see this number, it could be any SkypeOut telephony user. See skype.com

SkypeOut calls usually block caller ID or returns something like 0123456 for it. This phone line must be misconfigured to show the phone number that actually has nothing to do with the person who is really calling you from a computer.

Bank Scam seems to be most likely to be what he is up to.

I believe it is in the best interest of the FBI, Homeland Security as well as the general public to investigate the matter of embezzlement fraud . He claims many things including captivity and death of family members , leads people
on into believing that he is going to share a large amount of money. There is a catch . The plot thickens.

The caller from 2145860999 is strongly suspected of fraud. He made many false claims and has led me on to a trap where I would be subjected to possibly identity theft. It is suspected that he is also using a skype phone as well as
a computer to solicit people. He pretends to be in Gana , when in fact he called my toll free number which indicates that he is operating 20 million dollar plot to get into peoples bank accounts. He wants one to make a photo copy of their identigication in addition to cooberating evidence that will enable him to embezzle others.

I got the call too, I know several people overseas and I've never thought to lookup one of the wierd numbers they call from on the internet, but this one's strange, I don't think it's someone I know and I'd like to know why the peple who say it is from a friend or family member decided to research the number, if you answer the phone and you know who it is, you normally just go about your day afterward...you don't normally get on the internet to find out explain to people that someone they know might call from a strange number...hmmmm

Same thing for me. They called last night around 8:25. Hung up when I answered. Called back from my cell, and it said my cell number out loud, then told me to please wait while my call was connected. Then got some awful techno music. Nobody ever answered.

I received calls from 214-586-0999... It was a man from india saying i was to receive a $6000 refund of some sort, but first i must send $299 and would not give me a ligitimate number. he told me to call "dennis" at 646-376-0643.. the number was answered by another indan man who said it must be a wrong number - i repeated the number and he asked who i was... i explained i was contacted regarding a refund and all of a sudden "dennis" would be back in a half hour! these people don't have a legal dept and i would not advise anyone send them money...

I received this call today from a foreigner asking to speak to my ex-husband. when I told them that he had never lived here or never had this number and where did they get my number, they hung up on me. I tried calling the number back an all I got was the same "trans music and a message saying "Please wait to be connected"....." I waited until the phone disconnected before I hung up.

I received a call from this number. I didn't answer. Even though I am on the Do Not Call List, I have been receiving telemarketing calls. I received a letter from a company that is a check verifier. The letter said that their data base had been stolen and sold to telemarketers.

I got a call last night around 10 my time..This was with some details about my daughters. This person threatened to cut off my daughters head and leave it on my front porch. He knew enough to keep my attention, but not enough that they knew us well. I have called my local police, got in contact with a friend in one of the federal divisions. Tomorrow, going to call the FCC, local FBI, and my state attorny generals office, as well as my State Reps, and Senators offices. Not only are calls traced, but I am going out tomorrow and getting recording devices. In several states it's legal as long as one party knows the conversation is being recorded.

British accent, but 4 second delay and poor sound clued me into this having to be VOIP from India. Have received calls in the past from this number, but this was the first time I could understand them.

Seems like this is a switching station in the U.S. for International calls from all of the comments. So basically it could be anybody or everybody from without the USA who calls into it. Be especially careful about 419 scams and of course don't trust anyone you don't personally know.

people 214-586-0999 and a few other numbers is a skype gateway number. Most times the calls ain't from telemarketers unless they got your home number from somewhere else and using skype to call you. It can be a family member or a friend calling you using skype or another voip softphone, like yahoo,voipcheap,voipbuster,icall and others.Until skype lets you put in your skypein number you will get some weird numbers like that. Some people when you don't answer just hang up or when gets to your voicemail just hangs up instead of saying anything. Don't mean it is from a telemarketeer. I'm with you on that part, I hate tellermarketeer phonecalls.

These scammers may know a lot about you already, but rest assured, if you give them any information, they only use it against you.

This is a routing number for a Voice-over IP phone service. Could be anyone you know or someone you don't using Vonage, Skype, or even Yahoo phone services. I use voice/IP and for whatever reason this is the caller ID that sometimes shows on my friends ID.

Received a phone call at 11:05am on 01Jun2007 from this number. I didn't answer, so it went to voicemail. No message was left.

I just received a call from this number from a friend that is currently in Nigeria. We have talked previously and a Nigerian number showed up. Same for me, basically. I'm told that you can call AT&T's legal dept. and get a free trace on the number to provide exact origin location. It looks like the town of origin is Jacksonville, TX. But that could be of little or no consequence.
