Who Called Us

My number is unlisted, I have DNC and have reported them several to that list. I wonder if they go to the same list and have a "search" device within their corporation to harass and bug people any hour of the day or night. I pay for my phone service, and I get these types of calls all of the time. Where is the Attoney General or his big buck workers. Why haven't any of these issues been answered?

Called 9:00 pm on a Thursday night. Hung up w/o leaving a message. I am also on the DNC and getting really sick of these constant disruptions from unsolicited calls!

Received 3 calls from this number today and they leave no messages. When I called them back, all I received was a busy signal. Very irritating!

I have tracked this number to a connection with "Central Marketing Services". Central Marketing Services is a "sister" company to Wilson Research Strategies, by Chris Wilson's own admission in an article anyone can find online in the Kokomo Tribune. Seems that last year they engaged in some dirty push-poll tactics, implying that the daughter of a Kokomo mayoral candidate had an abortion. They didn't actually say it. The candidate is pro-life, has four daughters, and the "guilty" one was not identified. Wilson Research Strategies is in Oklahoma City, at 405-286-6500.

Calling people after 8pm is absolutely rude. Receiving calls after such time means to me that it is an emergeny call. I have a very sick parent and my heart about stops when I receive calls at 10pm,11pm & midnight. That should be forbidden. In addition we are on the "No Call List" I have my political views & I am not about to share them with strangers.

Everyone take a deep breath. I've worked at Central Reseacrh for 5 years now. I'm an elderly gentleman who is supplimenting his SSI.We're NOT calling from Mexico. We call from NYC. DNC calls are MANUALLY keyed in after 11PM, NYC EST. That means the managers stay late. Sometimes it takes a while before the computer catches up. I't like trying to drive a car with a flat tire. We never call on holidays because our office's closed. The office's in lower Manhattan, not Mexico, or a prison. It's a big election year this year, so please be aware-the surveys are political in nature. The office's filled with people like you, trying to make an honest day's pay. We have a bankroll, and taxes are taken out. We're not prisoners. Our only crime is that we might be poor, elderly or a student who has no choice at the moment in the type of job we do. Canvassing out on the street is COMMISSION. Central research's straight salary. Up to 9 dollars an hour depending on the survey. Please have a bit of mercy on us. What if it's your mother, father, sister or brother; you niece, nephew, aunt or uncle working here? What if it's your daughter, son; husband or wife? Would you try to get them fired so heartlessly?

Do Not Call. Period. It is completely sickening that every time there is an up coming election of any sort, for two months prior I get call after call after call, all day every day. We are 1000% sick of your calls, sick of your hang ups and sick of you. Now, although the DNC does not (yet) cover political research, one thing that is a fact is you ARE BREAKING the law everytime you make more than one hang-up call to any person. That is harassment and IS illegal and whether you blame your poor poor little computers Ma Bell takes a very dim view of it.

Got 2 hang ups in an hour from CENTRAL, REASEAR 212-529-5461. Called(212)260-0070 Told the rep i got the calls. She asked for my number and put me on hold for less than 5 seconds of the worst hold music I have ever heard. When she came back on she told me I was removed from their list and wished me a good night. The may be filthy movie interrupting auto dialer using savages but their customer service is tops in my book.

This person is very sick. They just listen. It is my opinion that whoever it is, is ashamed of what they do. They call from a number that can't be traced, they are hiding, like a child.

Our comapny has an AUTODIALER. It's connected to the computers, which are OLDER computers. The computers crash on us every so often. We LOSE our calls, and our surveys. It's a SURVEY. No "push" polls. No screaming. No hang-ups.
We send the results of our polls onto USA Today, the Daily news; and other news and media services who require a poll. "Do not call" list are due to expire soon, I saw ther report Monday night. We NEVER call after 11 PM NYC time and we NEVER call on Federal holidays because our office is closed. We work part time on nights and weekend afternoons. To try to put people out of work is thoughtless, cruel and arrogant. I stumbled across this website by accident, as have most of my co-workers. We don't want to lose our jobs because some of you don't understand that our auto dialer doesn't recognize the "DNC" list. Our managers have to MANUALLY log the DNC list in after midnight. If you're not interested in the survey, just say "no thank you." Very simple. A lot simpler than trying to put people out of work. Would YOU like it if I tried to put YOU out of work? It's 6 hours straight pay. The bi-lingual surveyors get paid a bit more, but not much.
To try to put an entire company out of work is unfeeling, how would you feel if someone try to put you out of work? We aren't aggressive. If you don't want to take our survey, just say so. Please try to refrain from saying things like "Get a real job." "Report them to the police." etc. We aren't soliciting money. We aren't doing anything illegal. It's a public opinion survey company. Ever wonder how the local news gets their statistics? Or have you ever wondered how "a recent poll/survey" found its answers? This is one of those companies that provides the surveys. We start all calls at 5 PM NYC time, and end between 10 and 11 PM NYC time. Also, the National DNC lists are due to expire soon. Our computers are automated. The computers have no way of knowing if you're on the list or not. We have to MANUALLY key in the DNC calls after hours.
Please be patient, and try not to put us out of work. For some of us, this is the only paycheck at the moment.

When I am able to answer one of these calls, my tactic is to answer "No" to all research questions.

Received a call just now at 1:25PM PST. I let it ring a few times and then was curious and answered - at which point they hung up. Tried to call back and it just rings and rings.

I agree with my colleagues who work at Central Research. We aren't breaking any laws as what we do are public opinion surveys. Some times, the computers go down. We lose all our calls and all our surveys, and have to start over. Has your computer ever crashed out on you in the middle of something important. Because the system is automated and a little redundant, the staff and management have to manually key "do not call" requests. The management doesn't get around to the logs until well after closing time.
This firm calls into places like Virginia, and California, where there's a 3 hour time difference. We don't "push poll." We read the questions off the computer screen.
I heartily agree with my colleagues when I say that most of our staff are school students, or retirees looking for supplemental income.
This is a part time job.
I myself have worked for Central Research for 3 years, on and off between jobs.
The pay is OK, and the work is alright. If you're willing to participate in the poll; that's fine. If not, say "No thank you."
Simple as that. To try to put part time employees who might other wise have no job out of work is a little extreme.

I also work at Central Research. We don't call on holidays, as the office is closed on Labor Day, Memorial Day and so on. What may be midnight to you is only 9 PM in NYC.

There is absolutely NO illegal activity involved in our surveys because we don't ask for money; we NEVER ask for you last name, or an vital information. We wait for you to say hello first; not the other way around.
We are NOT on commission. We get paid a straight salary for 6 hours work, in the evenings.
Evenings to us starts at 5 PM NYC time. There's a 2 to 3 hour difference in the time zone we call to.
We try to make the public opinion surveys as generic as humanly possible.
We update the do not call list very late at night, usually after our employees go home. It's management who stays up past midnight to make sure the calls are logged correctly, and to update the dialers.
This takes time as our system does go down and our computers are slow.
Please be patient. Central Research apologizes for any and all repeated calls, we're working as fast as our computers will allow us to update the system as quickly as humanly possible.

I work at Central research from time to time. We use a batch dialer. It's automated. The computer can't tell if your number is blocked or not. We try to call early in the evening. It's only 5 pm in NYC when we start calling. We usually stop at 9 pm NYC time, which may be different where you live. We frequently update our no call list. We are not breaking any laws, as we don't sell anything, nor solicit money. It's a public opinion survey company, that asks a variety of questions on voting and other subjects. We don't "push" any of our clients to answer questions.

We've gotten about 5 calls bet 6-9 p.m. on Monday, April 16, 2007. Everytime we answered the phone there would be no one on the other line or they would hang up. We don't have caller id. *69 revealed the call from 212-529-5461.

On 4/11/07 I got called 7 times within an hour and they did not respond each time I answered. The first 5 phone calls were from 646-453-1349 then one from 212-529-5461 (New York), then again another one from the first number. On the 7th time, when someone answered and I asked who this was, a representative who gave his name as "Spencer" spoke asking for someone by the name of "Nicholas" (who does not even live here). I first asked who he was with and he informed me "Central Research", then I informed him that I have received seven phone calls in ONE HOUR and to remove my name from their calling list, he said "okay". My number is also on the Do Not Call List!

Called 4 times Sunday 1/21 and 3 times Monday 1/22. On last call there was finally someone there. I asked who they were and they said they were a research company and when I told them I don't appreciate being bothered for 2 straight days by an automatic dialer and to remove my number, they hung up on me

HERE IS A SOLUTION: I was getting the same types of calls as most of the others reporting here - the hang ups, etc. So I called the(212)260-0070 number and got a person. I hung up on them - did this 4 times, then the fifth time I asked "How do you like it? - They were a bit stunned, but quickly agreed to IMMEDIATELY place our number on their DoNotCall list. I warned them that if they didn't, I would call them 4x for every call they make to me. I have not had a single call from them since. Problem Solved!!

Called and hung up on three occassions. I answered once and they stayed on the line saying hello for about 25 seconds and hung up. The caller never responded. They called 21/20/2007 and a few days ago.

Called 1/18 6:00p.m. an at 6:55 p.m.. Everytime I answer it no one is there. Comes up unknown number.

I am on the Do Not Call Registry. I've received multiple calls as early as 8am and as late as 10pm. I called 212-260-0070 and spoke with Michael. He advised he would take both my numbers off the list. Michael said that he had no operator ID or employee ID number. Michael said it was a small company and they would know who I was talking about if I called back. I asked for supervisor's name. Michael put me on hold and Leslie got on the line. She said she was Michael's manager. I advised this was my 3rd time calling to have my number removed. She took down my numbers again and assured me I wouldn't receive calls again.
I will be filing a report with FCC about Central Research Services Inc. They say since they're not soliciting or a collection company that they don't have to follow the laws set up to protect the general public. There has to be some laws against repeatitive harrassment.
If anyone has some new ideas of how to get the calls to stop and possibly report this company, please share with the rest of us!

I have received these calls previously and I believe they are drug dealer related.
thus if you believe anyone you live with has a drug problem, this may confirm it.

I received two calls from this number in an hour. I answered each and no one responded. If this is a legitimate polling company, I normally don't mind answering a few survey questions. They do have to ask them, however.

called the number steve suggested and was told they would take me off the list but couldn't guarantee that it would be permanent! I was told it can't be help since they just enter an area code and computer generates the number. Have received calls from Central Research from two different numbers: 212-529-5461 & 727-819-9536. I informed both that my number is a cell phone number and that I am on the national cell phone do not call list. Both said they would remove my number from their list and they would not call again. One even stated their calls do not violate the do not call list because they are not selling anything. Even though they said they would not call me again, I am still receiving calls.

I received this call today what the call was, is a marketing/research company wanting to know my opinion about the upcoming election, they asked me several questions about how likely I would be to vote for the candidates running for public office in my area.

This number has been calling every morning for the past three weeks. There is never anyone on the line when I answer. When I call back, the phone just rings. Who are you?

This is a professional polling firm. I participated in their poll today. I am confident that they are legitimate and as pollsters they are exempt from the law that established the do-not-call registry.

If you are being hung up on when you answer, it is probably a problem with getting the auto-dialing mechanism properly synchronized to alert the survey taker that someone has answered. I doubt that anyone is actually hanging up on you. Obviously the company needs to solve this problem. If I get called again I will be sure to tell them about this.

Been getting a ton of calls from this number. On 10/21/06 I called 212-260-0070 and a woman immediately answered and agreed to remove me from their call list. We'll see, right!
