Wouldnt speak when I answered

Carphone Warehouse -- probably harassing me because I requested an iPhone unlock. Had 3 calls today (which of course I'd have the pleasure of paying for if I was roaming!!) -- my assumption is that O2 are to blame because they are selling off customer lists to Carphone Warehouse to pester people into upgrading?

Keeps calling but won't talk upon answering, a little creepy and could make an older person live in fear, very Un-professional for a large company such as the Carphone warehouse.

Repeated messages left on answerphone asking to contact 0845 456 5598 on a financial matter, claiming to be TalkTalk. No written indication from TalkTalk (who I only happen to be with because they took over Pipex) that there is anything amiss.
Looks like attempted identity theft to me, and if Pipex confirm that the calls do not originate from them, I will contact the Police in this matter.

I also Keep getting these phone calls at all hours of the day, then they hang up. I've called the number back and I get an answer phone message from CPW. How can I stop this its driving me crazy?!!

So flipping frustrating they have called me three times a day for nearly 2weeks, when I answer no one speaks at the other end.I have tried to call the number bk and it says it's the CPW an that their advisers are busy and hangs up. Beyond the joke now!

Makes sense that it is carphone warehouse as that is where my husband got my phone from. They are always calling to pester us to upgrade. The number that was calling me was 01925 555601. I answered a call 27/7/11 at around 8.30pm and said hello a few times before hanging up on them. Also got a call on 21/7/11 at 1.19pm from Orange asking for my husband and I told them the truth, my number is not his number anymore. Despite telling them for the last 1.5 years they STILL call and ask for him. That number was 08080 600702 but when I do a search it comes up as belonging to Vodaphone, whom we have never dealt with!

They're calling for another customer and i would like them to stop. Both texts and missed calls have been recieved from them.

Getting loads of these calls coming through. This isn't the only number. Have recently been on holiday and was wondering if when phoning home when abroad, your number maybe going through a system which is then logged and sold to these companies that pester you with calls?

Have been receiving 10-20 calls a day for the last week. Whenever I answer, there is no response.

This number has been calling me non stop for about 2 weeks. I have only answered once and there was no response from the other end. I thought if it was important they'd leave a message but never have. It's becoming a nuisance now :(

claimed to be from talk talk, but would not speak to me as my wife had not set up a password, which i know is untrue as I was with her when she did

This number called me twice today; the guy asked for me using my full name (definately in a call centre)I asked 'who's speaking' and he hung up on me. How rude!

I couldnt get to the phone to answer it, and they left a message of a girl chatting to her co-worker. I guess they have realised my O2 contract is nearly up. Its not going to do them any good.

They call, don't speak then line goes dead. I call back, get their automated message inviting me to hold for Carphone Warehouse agent. Then told everyone's too busy and call back later. As they called me first, this is a joke. STOP CALLING ME!! I don't have any phones through 02 or CW so no need to call me!

I have just emailed a complaint to Carphone Warehouse directing them to this web site, if it's them they need to sort this out. If they don't I'll find a newspaper or a regulator to help them!

This number keeps calling and I don't answer as I don't recognise the number. Called it back from a land line and it's a fax machine. Have had more than 12 calls and it's very annoying.

Got missed call, no message. Recently received text about phone upgrade from Carphone Warehouse. Phone bought via mobiles.co.uk which IS a subsidiary of Carphone Warehouse. Assume this number is in operation for many of their different companies like Talk Talk etc.

Am I being old-fashioned in thinking if I want an upgrade I'm perfectly capable of sorting it out myself?

Had a call from this number claiming to be from my BB provider (Pipex) and asking for password before notifying me of a problem with a/c. I gave a false p/w which they accepted, thus proving they did not have the real one. They wanted me to pay my monthly bill which they said was overdue. It IS overdue...by 2 days, but had their call been a few days later (by which time the D/D would have been paid so the scam would not work) and had I not been alerted by their acceptance of a false p/w, I could very easily have just paid them the bill. If you get a call from this number and actually speak to someone IT IS A SCAM!

This number is calling 4 - 5 times a day and never leaves a message - I am a carphone warehouse customer and feel better from looking at this website that it is probably them - but it is still very annoying!!!!

I rang the number back and it is the CPW calling on a non urgent matter, I hang on for an agent but, guess what they were busy and it abruptly said GOODBYE !!

hi ive been having missed calls from these fart faces, was having them a few month ago too. How do u get some one to actually look into this, surely they can trace the number? God it sounds like a looser with no job, and if it eva gets caught, it will just get a slap on the wrist,

I work nights and I've been woken up 6 times by this number. I leave my phone on for emergencies so I panicked everytime. I'm so glad I googled it now and come across this page. I've had no sleep so I'm more than ready for an arguement!

Just got a call from this number saying it was TalkTalk and there was an issue on my account and before I could say anything she asked for security details to prove who I was. I stopped her and asked what the issue was and she again wanted my security details first. I cut her off at that point. Looks like some scammers have got hold of a list of who is with what phone company and trying to rip people off.

Carphone Warehouse head office is located near North Acton tube station in West London. This includes the call centre. Wallington is South of London, nowhere near Carphone Warehouse.

i first had calls a couple of months ago from the 01925 555601 number. i was getting on average 12 calls a day. only once did they speak when i answered and they wanted to know if my contract was over yet and if i would be interested in a new one? i said no, but they carried on asking for lots of details like my name and address. after i hung up it stops. but 2 months later i get those calls again, about 12 a day from same number and now am getting about 6 a day from 01612168911 as well. no one here talks when you answer. had enough!

19 calls in 24 hours from them just did a google search as didnt recognize number, reang back and do get carphone warehouse pricks where they a week ago when i wanted ma iphone 4 hahaha fook em robbing gits

Keeping getting calls from this number. I have repeated said the person they want doesn't exist on my number. They said they where going to 'update' the system. They never have. They also claim to have spoken to their client on my number but I live alone!!!

Called me about 10 times this week. I just stay silent on the end of the phone or touch myself.

American male voice said 'hello', bouncing off a distant satellite, I said 'hello', then he hung up

They told me they were Tiscali - they are fraudsters I believe, the guy asked me for my details & I said if yr calling me then you should know them! & that should stop calling me & be ashamed of themselves!

It was O2 for Carphone Warehouse saying I was due an upgrade and they could get my new phone to me tomorrow... Why I'd need them to ring me if I was desperate for a new phone heaven knows. It sounded like it was an overseas call centre and I couldn't understand the man well, strong accent. I told him I was busy at work and that I'd sort it myself on the internet. Hopefully they won't keep calling! Maybe they thought I'd be daft and would sign up to a super expensive contract on the spot.

They knew my name and said they were calling from Talk Talk and then hung up!

I've had 15 calls from this number just today. They called me last year too. Do not answer any of their questions or confirm any details to them at all!

Just spent 5 minutes having fun with their salesman peter. Told him in my best phonejacker voice that my name was George from Uganda, ha ha. He hung up on me in the end.

they call over and over again and when you try to call back you cant speka to anyone. i get calls all times of the day and night and its driving me nuts, ive tried blocking them on my phone but for some reason they still able to call me. Anyone know of a number i can call to stop this

They said they were from the 'Orange team at carphone warehouse' Probably so that you hear Orange and assume it's them. Orange are my phone provider and this is a cheap trick to try and get me to change to CPW.

Keep getting this annoying calls from the number, as soon as you answer they han up, along with calls from another number 0161 216 8911.

It seems as I'm at the end of my contract Carphone Warehouse are desperate for me to renew one with them. The first time they called I explained I have renewed through O2 and I am not interested in anything they have to sell, but 1 week on I am still getting calls from these numbers 4-5 times a day.

I am with talk talk and get these calls reg, maybe talk talk is the key here. anyone else that doesnt have talk talk that get these blinkin calls.

I received a call from this number earlier today. Someone claiming to be from the Carphone Warehouse told me I was eligible for an early upgrade. I did not continue the discussion and said I was not interested in an early upgrade. If you call the number back, it does actually go through to the Carphone Warehouse but in this day and age, you can never be sure who you're speaking to when you receive a call. There are a host of shady businesses out there that call you claiming to be from reputable firms offering you excellent deals on handsets and tariffs but they are mainly boiler-room outfits.

They called me 15 times in one day. 5 times in another and never leave a message. How can one report this?

Received a call from 01925 555601 - they told me they were Carphone Warehouse and needed me to verify my cc details to process my order. I was naturally suspicious and told them I'd call back. The number they gave me to call back on was 020 8617 6507 and gave me my order reference No. Tried to call back but number just rings out. I haven't ordered anything from CPW and more importantly, my cc was cloned last Thursday so I had a stop put on it which leads me to believe it was a fraudulent call. Sounds strangely suspicious to me particularly having had past experience of dealing with CPW- they are completely inefficient and incompetent so can't ever imagine anyone checking anything!

Unknown number came up. Have had 10+ missed calls from this number in the last 4 days. When I finally picked up it was gentleman saying that I was due for an upgrade (which I already know!!) and that he'd have to ask me a few personal details to determine that I am me! I said that I wasn't interested and that I will be going into the branch to sort out my new phone and for him not to call me again. He said he'd call back tonight. Have now blocked number.

Had several calls from this number today - answered a couple and there was just silence the other end. Called back once and was answered by an automated message saying it was Carphone Wharehouse trying to call me about a non urgent matter. Hmmmm, odd that I upgraded my phone last night with O2 on line.

Called numrous times over the past week along with 02086 175910 and 01612 168911, probs CPW asking about my contract mobile with Orange as I'm past upgrade and near the end of the contract end (within 4 months)

I reckon it is carphone warehouse, probably on an autodialer to see who's in and then they ring back the ones who answer.

Never answers, but persistantly calls. I've never answered, and don't want to, either.

Recieved call from this number - have just bought an upgrade through carphone warehouse - so interesting that others have a similar idea. It may be possible that it is a member of staff who has access to carphone warehouse's data? Anyway - whoever it was hung up.

this number just called me seemed hesitant as to where he was calling from, so was guarded, and then he asked me to confirm a few financial details at which point I disconnected called talktalk, they had NO record of this call knew nothing about it, and confirmed it is NOT one of there numbers! I am just about to call the police!

Is this definitely Carphone Warehouse? Seemed genuine to me until they asked me for my sort code and account number, which they ought to have on file. Told them I wasn't happy giving it out over the phone as I had no way of verifying they were who they said they were. Caller kept trying to get me to give out the details then said she'd call me back... Maybe I'm just paranoid, but I was put under a lot of pressure to give out my bank details to someone whose identity I couldn't verify and that makes me suspicious...

Kept calling me 3X a day all week. Called themselves Orange Carphone Warehouse. Want to give me an upgrade. They know my contract is nearly finished and wanted my details. V suspicious, which is why I googled their no. and found this site.

had 4 missed calls. 4days before this had a call from south africa (0027112001100)saying my upgrade was due, gave me an offer on a new contract and insisted i went on their website. i refused and eventually cut them off.

strange bleeping noises, no one on other end, am with TalkTalk, could be a Carphone Warehouse scam according to some people, or their computers going mad?! lol

just been phoned by this number, claiming to be carphonewarehouse (orange division) and that i was paying too much, i told them i didnt believe them and that they were fraudulant, iv had this kind of thing before. they told me that the carphone warehouse uk HQ had been shut down & that they had been moved to south africa (yet no international code) i had a 10 minute row with them whilst they laughed at me when i said they were fraudulant, i ended up shouting and swearing at them and spoke to the manager, he was just the same, i then shouted at him aswell for a few minutes before he said my number would be removed from the database, i highly doubt this after reading some of the posts on here so i am braced for some arguments in the next few weeks. STAY CLEAR & DO NOT DO BUISNESS WITH THEM!!!! if u wish to do anything about your contract etc then go to your nearest store. COMPLETE SHAM

I have sent them a notice under Section 11 of the Data Protection Act but they persist so I have made a complaint to the ICO. The more of us that complain about their conduct, the more likely the ICO will do something and force them to change their ways

Have made three phone calls to Carphone Warehouse in two days asking for the calls to stop (they've been coming through for about a week). No luck yet - still getting the calls. May call in the Information Commissioner to complain.

this number has been calling me for days. i finally answered and was told he was calling from car phone warehouse. i had only recently upgraded my phone with these so thought nothing of it. he asked me for security reasons to confirm my name, first line of address and post code which i did. he then told me as extra security i needed to confirm when i last upgraded and to which phone. i told him he should know these details and he was insistant he needed to know for security reasons. i'd by this time had enough and cut him off.

This number has called me today, as I live in the phone code error I thought it must be someone I know (but I missed the call as was at work). Thankfully after reading this I will not be answering it if it calls again.
Other sites say this telephone number is offering good new contracts rates with cashback, from my experience of these types of mobile phone deals they are very strict and nearly impossible for fulfill from your end (you have to send a voucher in on a certain date and then they say they have not received it), you have no proof and then you never get any of the cashbacks

I missed this call - when I rang back recorded message saying Carphone Warehouse with a non urgent matter and they would call back or I could hang on to be connected. Immediately another recorded message saying all staff were too busy and asking me to call back later. I have just (10 days ago) renewed my contract with O2(iPhone)via Carphone Warehouse so not due to renew my contract.

From what i can determine it is Carphone Warehouse Sales Team.

Carphone Warehouse. Said he'd call me back in 15 mins, that was an hour ago.

A rude caller claimed that he was from the head office of Carphone Warehouse.
