i have received many calls wanting to lower my credit card interest rates and when i request to be taken from their call list they disconnect. calling back only gets electronic noise
hang up as alwasy and found out they are not good
"lower your interest rate" scam call. no opt out option on the menu.
Rachel is using 6 different phone numbers folks, and the Attorney Generals of several states have told me there is NOTHING they can do Rachel simply changes numbers every 2 weeks. Verizon will do NOTHING because they make money selling thousands of numbers to scammers in Hong Kong, who then re-sell the numbers to Rachel. There is no way to find out who the scammers are in Hong Kong. However......
You can call your Congressman EVERY DAY, that's what I do. State and Federal, and I suggest you do it too. Call them every day, they'll get tired of it.
The DO Not Call registry is a joke, it has never worked, it's just a way to vent. I have been keep extensive records, and the Do Not Call program DO Not Work
Guess Rachel didn't get caught by the FTC yet. She still trying to lower my credit card interest rate. This is the third call from the same phony phone number. Sorry about the pun. Rachel made me do it. Anyway I'm off to the FTC site again to file another complaint. Maybe someday the FTC will actually make Rachels statement about this being the last call I receive from Card Holder Services, a reality. Unfortunately another reality is that they must be making big bucks from some people otherwise it wouldn't be worth making the calls.
Seems that I was wrong about Rachel. I got a second call from the same number on 03/25/12. I did pick up on the call but the line was dead. Hmmmm, maybe the FTC caught them in the act and shut them down before they could complete the call. Probably dreaming but who knows. Got to keep positive thoughts.
Yet another call for Rachel at Card Holder Services. She says there is currently nothing wrong with my credit card but they are offering a lower interest rate. Guess it's time to make another complaint to the FTC although it could be a major challenge for them as Rachel and Card Holder Services seems to be a moving target. Don't think I've ever received a call from Rachel from the same phone number. Wonder if she is on the run trying to keep 1 step ahead of the FTC although it is more likely they are spoofing their caller ID information. Got to be technology available to trace these calls back to their source. The thing that is really amazing is that they must be making a profit by finding people who actually fall for this scam otherwise there wouldn't be any reason for them to continue the calls.
The company calling is Card Member Services. They are based in Atlanta Georgia. I got a call from another number out of Texas 972-300-0001
), the person identified herself as Sara. I asked for a last name, she told me Marshall. I asked for a toll free number to call the main office and where were they based. She said Atlanta and 800-847-2911. This was the first rep who seemed to listen to what I had to say and that was plenty about the company she works for scamming people. She was surprised when I informed her my phone is on the "do not call registry" and that I don't even have a credit card.
Caller refused to take us off their calling list until we listened to their pitch. He was very rude and I'm sure they won't be taking us off the list. They sure seemed to enjoy the phone call.
These idiots call and try to tell they know your credit is good, so they want to give you a lower interest rate. I told the crook to get a real job and he hung up on me. It never does any good, but I'm turning them in to the DoNotCall.gov site.

There was a robo call yesterday to my house some business about reducing credit card payments. It sounded really sketchy to me.
These calls have started again... Automated/pre-recorded... "Hi, this is Rachel from card holder services. There is nothing wrong with your account." Then it goes on to say something about lowering interest rates on my credit cards. I have hit the button to "talk to a live operator' and told them I don't have any credit cards, filed bankruptcy, remove my number, and 'can you say lawsuit?' The person asked me why I would sue my credit card company. I said, "I do not have any credit cards, filed bankruptcy...let me talk to your supervisor..." *dial tone* When I did deal with CitiCards/CitiBank, I actually talked to a Rachel, who sounded like this one, about trying to work something out. A bit too late, eh? I am on the DNC list!
