The call immediately disconnected when I answered.
I have received calls on my cell phone from Naviant at 888-272-5543 asking for someone regarding student loans. I don't know this person and have received calls for the last month. Today I decided that the only way to get them to stop calling and leaving this person messages on my cell phone was to call and tell them they had the wrong number. The person on the phone was rude. He did not say "hi" on answering the phone, his tone and questions were rude and finally I said, "you don't have to be rude, I am trying to help you." He did not acknowledge and he did not say "thank you" "good bye" or anything else half way civil. I frankly would rather talk to the IRS than these people. Next time I will let them leave messages for someone else forever and not even tell them they have the wrong person.
That is Sallie Mae. I suggest you direct their call to the George W. Bush Presidential Center (214-200-4300
) and have them deal with the ever increasing student loan debt catastrophe. Tell Sallie Mae to get the Center to get the money from Bush & Cheney's contractor buddies that made a killing off two bogus wars.
Calls from people who cannot speak any form of intelligible English. Hell with 'em.
This number refers you to the agency that has your private student loans which are probably in charge off since some of us are still f'in unemployed. Duh. It's called Economic Recovery..Thank you ex prez Bush Wacker.

These people obviously are calling any number as they are not using the real name of who they are calling. Get a real job not telemarketers, also the person who called me did not even have an American accent.
Don't know who it is often a foreign sounding voice going to get my whistle real pain in the backsides.
Calls up to 10 times per day, before 8 am and after 10 pm.
They have gotte our business phone number, which is sent to my personal cell phone a lot of the time - so I get them constantly but when I answer with the business name, they hang up. This is such a waste of time. I don't know if it's a cold call or if someone has given our business number as their contact (we have TV ads and billboards so this happens A LOT). How do you stop it?
Called but left no message. I don't recognize the number so I didn't answer it.
I filed a complaint, but they keep calling, mornings, afternoons, evenings, even during weekends. It is weird they do not leave a recorded message! Only this week I counted the number of calls in the caller ID and it is over 12 times in 5 days!!!!!
Just got a call from Sallie Mae for this number.
Due to unemployment, my government student loan is over 120 days past due and right now I refuse to apply for a Forebearance. I asked the foreigner to identify his company and he finally did. I then stated that I would gladly talk to an American born citizen. He said something about I could call the main Sallie Mae customer service number and I replied that it repeatedly went to the Phillipines. While I was talking he hung up on me.
This is the seventh phone number that has been used in the last two weeks. I am collecting them in my cellphone and when they call I open the cellphone to hopefully document receiving the phone call on my detailed monthly phone bill. Below is how I have coded the phone numbers into my cellphone.
I do not mind talking to an American born citizen every two weeks, but I will not be talking to two different companies with three different departments everyday.

So call them and write them millions of letters, one a day or one a week, telling them to cease and desist calling you! Good luck everyone!!!
People, call your district attorney and state Attorney General, and tell them you want this stopped. I am, they call constantly with a hoard of different numbers. They think they have found a guy that owes them, so they continue to harass the livin' shit out us. We're both sick, I have heart disease she has had a stroke, and they don't believe they have the wrong number. I am so tired of people trying to hand me their job, without handing me their paycheck. If these idiots want to send me a pay check they can call me all they want. But until they do they better fuck off or I will turn them in to the DA, and if he won't do anything I will go file a civil suit on them! Call me again on Sunday morning, and I'll make sure the guy they are trying to reach is released of his debt because they harassed my ass for it.
All of you, call your DA and report these scalawags!
CHANGE YOUR # THEY WILL NEVER STOP CALLING
These people call about every 2 - 3 days. I do not answer 800 #s, so we get pre-recorded messages on our machine stating that they are Sallie Mae, and that they have important information about my hubby's student loan. He DOES have a student loan through Sallie Mae. However, it is suspicious to me that: 1) they have sent him nothing in the mail (or in any other form of written communication), and 2) when they call, the caller ID reads "Unknown Name, Unknown Number". So it's either a scam, or I guess it's just not that important!
If my hubby ever calls them back, I will post again & let y'all know what they say.
Hi Ronald I have the answer for you , That is what Ass HOles are doing instead geting a real job.

These buffoons have been calling me multiple times per day looking for someone who has no relation to the number they are calling. I called the 888 number above after talking with a rep, and they agreed to a cease and desist. Since then I've gotten a number of calls. I'm sending a cease and desist letter, faxing same, emailing same, filing a complaint with BBB, and FTC. This has been going on for a couple of months now, and just today I reached my breaking point.
I am a blameless victim in this case, I have absolutely no relation to the person they're seeking. And to make it even more fun, they wouldn't confirm the guy's last name.
Automated system leaves voice mail to call 888-272-5543
regarding important matter. Can't imagine what that would be and don't intend to call since they don't go into any detail. Pain in the !!
I just got this new cell # and they won't stop calling me either. It's driving me nuts.
This was a student loan company. I called Toll free: (888) 2-SALLIE 888-272-5543
) and went through the prompts like I was going to apply for a loan. When I finally got someone on, I told them my situation and asked them to remove me. The lady was nice. It took a few minutes, but it is better than them calling my cell phone 4 times a day. Not sure if I will fall off the list, but they said I would soon. I think this was one of my employees using me as a reference for a job or loan or something (I never gave her permission but the name they quoted me seemed to match).
Some of These we get a recording saying:
"Hello, This is Iowa Student Loan, please call us at xxx-xxx-xxxx."
xxx's would be the digits.
O.C. McCormick Mar 21st, 2008
Well no call lists aren't going to help anything since this isn't solicitation. If they have your #, it's either b/c you're a reference or relative of someone with a loan, or a wrong number. Confirm the number to the person and ask him or her to take the # off ...
Have received calls from this number several times a day for the past week. They left a message for my husband regarding student loans that have not been paid back. My husband has NEVER taken out a loan of ANY kind. If you want to call Sallie Mae to double check on your loan status, use the official number on their website 888-272-5543
). This one may be a scam.
Sallie Mae and they dont ever give up!
Called for Tammy Henderson and have called for Robert Holten, about student loans, don't know these people, told the caller not to call again. I'm on the national and Missouri no call list and still people call constantly. What can we do???

I have been getting calls and mail from Sallie Mae for 3-4 months now, even though I am not the person they're looking for. I have the same last name. I have spoken to them twice in the past and told them this, yet they continue to call. Just called 1-888-272-5543
and told them again. Maybe the third time is the charm? This website is great. It's nice to know others are going through this as well. These people are IDIOTS!!! You're not going to collect your money by harassing the wrong person!!
Calls claim to be regarding a student loan requiring a payment. The number seems to be Sallie Mae, but I've never had any form of student loan and I don't know how they got my number.
This number has been calling me for about 2 weeks now and every time it is an automated system saying to hold the line and then the call disconnects. Today I called the number back and when somebody finally answered he couldn't tell me why they have been calling me. He gave me another number 866-905-8960
for Student Assistance (name of company) and they needed my name number and state that I lived in. They told me that my account was not with them so they gave me the number for Sallie Mae which was 888-272-5543
and the guy there (who couldn't speak very good English) and he said that everything was in good standing so he transfered me to another department where they went through my account and all of my loans with Sallie Mae only to tell me that everything was in good standing and she had no idea why they were calling me all the time. She told me to call back the 317-594-1043 number and tell them to stop calling me. She spoke with her supervisor and they told me that Sallie Mae is in no
