We answered this AM and the man said-----"Just wanted to know if you were there."
Another call like that and we will turn the number to Authorities and let them track the man and company and we will file a complaint.
A number of older comments complain of the lack of DNC protection. Debt buyers are among the exempted callers. For relief you must turn to the FDCPA. Learn your rights at FTC-dot-gov.

We don't know the person they keep calling for. they call every day 2 & 3 times a day.
I have had this number call my home
Now they're calling and asking for me for a debt my ex husband owes. They can keep talking to my machine. I don't owe them anything and won't acknowledge his stupid debt since I'm not responsible for it and don't want them to try and pull some legal loop hole crude like I've heard some places do.
Calling for a debt my ex husband owes...I've been divorced from him for 4 years, so why are they calling me for his crap? He doesn't even live in this town anymore.
These calls have been coming in for months. (I am on the Do Not Call List.) Only once (months ago) have I had someone there when I answered. I said no one by that name is here or is known to me and since they had a wrong number to take me off that person's possible phone numbers. Now, usually, no one is there if I pick up but if the answering machine picks up there is a LONG message about "this message is for Greg E Hyam. If you are not Greg E Hyam please hang up. If you are Greg E Hyam you will be given a 30 seconds to prepare to take this call in private......." These are coming in once or twice daily. Until now when I have used the *69 it tells me the number is unavailable. The last couple of times (today) I have actually gotten a number. 888-249-1033
at 7:10 pm July 28, 2009 this time. Last time (this morning) was 484-220-0506 with the very same message. For the 888 call, I used the *57 trace feature. On all the other times I tried this, the recorded message indicated that there was nothing traceable since the incoming caller was unknown. Someone with the capability to see what is going on has got to resolve this. Please.

Nothing wrong with these scumbags that a 12 gauge shotgun and a gallon of sulfuric acid won't fix...

Had message on answering machine from Merchant Credit, saying that if this was the number for the same name, different middle initial, to call them back about a personal matter. Caller ID shows 888-249-1033 and TOLL FREE CALL. Not menat for us and they apparently can't read phone books since the middle initial they are looking for is not correct and is in all listings. DNC list doesn't work!
Merchant Credit GD
ANNOYING CALLS INCOMING AT ALL HOURS DAY / NIGHT. WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE "DO NOT REGISTRY" - THIS IS A NEW NUMBER (#3) IN LESS THEN A YEAR, REGISTERED WITH THE 'DO NOT CALL' REGISTRY IMMEDIATELY HAS HAD NO RESULTS. IF I HAD IT, I LAY ODDS THAT THESE "RANKING" OFFICIALS DO NOT GET THESE CALLS.......
Got a call on my cell from this number today, no ID. Woman on the phone asked for me. I confirmed that I'm me, and she identified herself as Mrs. from Merchant's Credit (spoke fast and not clearly - had to have her repeat the company name), then asked me to confirm that the last 4 digits of my SSN were xxxx. Told her I don't give my SSN out to unknown callers - she responded that she was giving it to me; that I just needed to confirm that it was correct. Told her that I don't do that either. She said she'd call back, and hung up. I've read the comments here and elsewhere online, including ripoffreport.com and links referenced in this thread, and they don't seem to have a very good rep.
continually receive calls from them takes several minutes to determine who they are. 1-888-249-1033
today a miss hunter called , very unprofessional cursed at me , said it was about some debt from 1985.
told her i did not owe that account and it had to be out of statue of limitations regardless, she told them to go to****, and to pay her or else she would sue and take everything i owned.
can't believe these types of people are still in business.
tired of them Jul 21st, 2008
Yea, another fockin collection agency trying to collect a debt that is so old it's not on my credit report anymore.
Left a message about debt collection on the answering machine. I don't owe anyone anything so I ignore it but am really tired of getting calls from these people.
This number has been calling me at several times a week for almost three months now. Somehow they got my new cell phone number, which I have given out to very few people. I do not answer my phone if I don't know who it is. I let them leave a message. This person has never left a message.
The message says they are attempting to collect a debt and leaves the callback number. The party they ask for is someone else. I pressed the number (once when I actually answered the phone)to indicate that I am not the person they are looking for. Still getting the calls almost every day for two weeks now. Is this becoming harassment?
they call everyday leaving msgs to call them back at this number. Or they say if you are so and so you acknowledge you owe this debt. I wish there was a way to end the harrassment. aggghhhhh!!!
This number keeps calling me. It's a pain in the butt to be disturbed by them at all hours of the day and night. I am on the Do Not Call List (DNC List) but am still being harassed by telemarketers! They say they are trying to collect a debt and if I am not LLW to disconnect but if I am LLW to continue to listen to the message. It's kind of hard to disconnect if the answering machine picks it up when you aren't home. If you continue to listen to the message to see what they want, they say you are the person that owes the debt and to pay up immediately.
They have called my cell phone almost daily for over a week. I never answer and they never leave a voice mail.
Have received several calls from this number recently 888-249-1033
, but havent' answered. All of our numbers are on the Natl Do No Call Registry, so I just filed a 2nd complaint on this company. To file a complaint go to this link. It's very simple to do. If enough people complain, maybe something will be done. https://www.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx
just a computer calling saying by not responding to this call you confirm you are the person they are calling, and you have a bill you better pay....BS......

another of those Christina Smiley Debt Recovery home business MLM groups.
debt collector for someone that used to live down the street 7 years ago! Like I know where they moved to?
THIS GUY CALLS EVERY DAY ABOUT 5 OR 6 TIMES A DAY. I TOLD HIM HE HAS THE WRONG # AND NO SUCH PERSON (ROBERT) LIVES HERE BUT HE IS RUDE. FINALLY I STOPPED ANSWERING THE PHONE. STILL THIS # SHOWS UP ON MY CALLER ID
Called AGAIN for that Steven clown. This time I got ahold of another person who I told to take me off their call list immediately. They said they would, I don't know how serious they are, though, he didn't sound like he believed I wasn't Steven. We'll see what happens. At least he didn't call me a deadbeat like the last guy did!
They called and I could hear a faint voice on the other end, too quiet to make anything out. Then they yelled something garbled and hung up at me. I thought at first it was a cell as the other person was so garbled, but it appears to be some collection agency.

Got the same message as everyone else. Ignored it and typed in the number on this site. I will ignore it from now on. I will also send a Cease and Desist letter registered mail to the address below. I will record and keep a log as to when and how often they call. When they reach 5 calls after signing the registered letter I will sue them in small claims court for $5000 under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, [15 USC 1692c] Section 805(c). I actually hope they continue to call. I have done this several times and it is easy money.

Said they were trying to collect a debt. Call was picked up on answering machine. Kept repeating my name (mechanical message). Wanted me to call back on some type of debt. I have no debt with this "merchant"
many calls from 888-249-1033
when i have answered the recorded message states:
"This is an important message for..."
i expected to hear a name in the blank but nothing happens.
they have left me messages that state: to cancel your request press 1 then a nother blank.
said they were looking for someone else and would take my number off list.
Hope they understand how frightened an old man can get and how said old man will without notice face his fears.

Two calls in two days. Left message saying that they're trying to collect a debt. I have no debts.

t's a call from someone who goes by the name of Ken Hughes.
He tells one that the call is important and should be called back ("not a sales call...").
A search on the internet should answer many questions about this individual and his motives.
