I read about this scam on Twitter from a local news station. Then I got a call from the very same claiming to be First Bank Fraud protection, only a different number. Funny thing is I don't use this bank.

Just some low-lifes who would rather steal from people than get a real job. Any legitimate business would never blindly ask for your information like this. If you're honestly concerned that there might be an issue, make them prove who they are before you tell them anything.

they just called my cell phone Verizon. left voice mail, automated robot voice, unless I call, my account may be frozen. I just laughed. It must be a scam. I am sure they want me to give them all the pertinent info, s.s. number, address, date of birth, etc....... Not going to happen scammers

This is a phone bank scam that was reported locally on St Louis news beginning Friday 10/31. First Bank confirms this is a scam!! Do not enter your credit/debit card number!

Obviously a scam since we don't have an account with First Bank, but the recording and options sound realistic, so I could see how they could fool their share of people who might panic if they hear that their card may be put on hold. For the fun of it, tried different ways (hitting 0, etc) to try to reach a human to "talk" with, but it would only repeat the request for entering the 16 digit card number. Fairly sophisticated compared to most of the scams I've encountered...

This is an attempt to collect credit card numbers as a form of fraud. DO NOT ENTER YOUR CARD NUMBERS. A legitimate company would call you in-person and not use an automated system if they suspected fraud, not to mention they would tell you which cards are affected.
