Called asking for a person with a different name. Also sent a letter for the same person.
They claim unpaid balance for COMCAST but no such bill was sent previously. It seems a fraud.

It was a recording that started off by saying it wasn't a telemarketing call. They went on to say the call was for a particular individual (not me) and if they could not be reached at this number to call them back at their 800 number to let them know. The company name is Credit Collection Services out of Newton Massachusetts. I did some checking and did find out the company appears to be a legitimate collection agency hired by Movie Gallery, in this case, to collect overdue movie rental fees from the individual they tried to contact here. I also found out that they are licensed to do business in this State.

This was a call from Credit Collection Services out of Massachusetts. Apparently this company was hired by Movie Gallery to collect some late fees for a movie someone had rented. They did leave a pre-recorded message on my answering machine addressed to someone other than myself so I didn't bother to return their call. Hopefully the individual they tried to contact does get the message.

Wonder what would happen if the people in Washington actually found the backbone to force companies to display the correct identifying information on the caller ID's. Almost not worth the money I'm paying for the caller ID service between cell phones and companies..

The woman I talked to said that there are supposed to be phone calls and letters to the customer before the account is turned over to collections...but according to her records this did not happen. She apologized and said she would log it as a "corporate complaint." I told her that it did not make me want to rent from Hollywood Video every again. I check my credit reports annually and if this shows up, they will hear from me again. I am going to tell everyone I know about this and urge them NOT to rent videos from Hollywood Video. This is an outrage.

Received a voicemail from this number with the name CCS and a case number. After reading this site, I went to the CCS web site, typed in my name and case number. Found I owed Hollywood Video $44.99! Called the store in my town and was told it was because of a movie that hadn't been returned BACK IN JANUARY. After checking he said that the movie was there after all. I never received a phone call or letter indicating that according to their records I still had the movie. The manager cleared the account, but said that it would take two weeks for CCS to process it. That was not good enough for me. I called CCS and talked to a very helpful young man who said that this happens A LOT with Hollywood Video customers. He gave me the number to Hollywood Video collections 866-227-3882) and suggested I take the issue up with them. I did. The woman who answered called the store, who verified that the movie was NOT missing. She said CCS would be notified within 48 hours. She said it would not go on my credit report. However, I plan to call CCS in 48 hours to be sure. If not, I will call Hollywood Video again. I complained to the woman in collections about how unfair this was to customers, and she said she would "tell her supervisor." (continued below)

After reading the comments left here, I went to their website www.ccsusa.com and was prompted to type my File# and Zip Code. After several attempts to get through (I've lived in various zip codes), I got through with my oldest zip code (from several years back). The page said my current balance was $46.99 and when I continued to view Receipts, I was given some explanation about any payments made before 10/23/06 would not show. They didn't give any information as to where the "debt" is coming from. If something due for such a minimal amount was due for that many years, I think I would've found out about it in some other form by now. I'm not going to call them.

CCS (USA) Inc.-- will farm out such debts to attorneys of various states for collection. Their motis operandi is to use the courts of each state to sue potential debtors and acquire defaults.
In that case, CCS (USA) Inc. send out letters to alleged debtors stating that a certain law office was working on their case, when in fact, they were not. Now it seems, they have allegedly dispensed with collection letters indicating that attorneys are working on a case (when they were not). They refer to the consumer as a "TARGET." This "TARGET" is the consumer. The CCS Company hopes for a quick default and garnishment, and gauges a case according to a "monitoring" process. In fact, their own advertising demonstrates this "new" strategy to USE the courts of the country, and the lawyers, while enjoying protection under Delaware corporation laws.
Here is part of their ad. As you can see, the person that is sued is referred to as "A TARGETED PARTY." "CCS has established litigation guidelines that escalate cases that fall within cost justified parameters. Our analysis considers all the information available to evaluate the financial condition of the targeted party."

"Once placed with an attorney in the debtor's jurisdiction, the file will be monitored according to our performance standards to keep the case progressing while controlling legal expenses."

This is a VERY disreputable credit collection firm. They have a database which includes highly confidential information. DO NOT SPEAK WITH THEM. They are rude, lewd and incredibly crude. I am on a DO NOT CALL list. They purchased an alleged debt that I actually paid for at the time of service. They did not have the doctors group or the date of service correctly. They did have the name of a former physician that is NOT in the records of the doctors for whom they were billing. After making over 20 phone calls and enlisting the aid of a administrator at the hospital, we finally determined which medical group they were working. The administrator of that group was extraordinarily nice when I explained how traumatic the situation became when my confidential information was revealed. I have now located the name of the company -- Credit Collection Services -- as well as a contact person and address. My next step is to take this public. There is too much abuse of personal information. Now that I have read all the complaints about this company online, I have decided to become a one-woman crusade and will take this as far as I can.

If they're calling the wrong number, just request they remove your number and be patient. If anything yell at the supervisor.

Ask for Rebecca or John and complain to them about the autodialer.

If you DO owe, either pay it or send a cease communication letter to them and deal with the creditor directly because they legitly put you into collections.

I had just got a new cell phone and got numerous calls from this company. However, I called them back and explained my situation and they took me off the call list. Just some dead beat had my # before I got it.

I received a call from this number and when I called back they told me I had a land line in Indiana that I never paid for. I haven't had anything other than a cell phone for the past 10 years and I only lived in Indiana for the past couple years. Also, the number they gave me was an 859 area code which is a Kentucky area code. Hmmm. How can I have a land line in Indiana with a Kentucky area code?

They have called and said I owed money to my insurance company. I said if I owed money to them they would call me or send me a bill. I said not to call me again. I called my insurance company to make sure that I had not made a mistake. I didn't. They are trying to get people to give them their account numbers and rip them off. I am calling the Attorney General about this in the morning.

these idiots call constantly. this shoul dbe against the law. they are caling both of my cell phones repeatedly! so, the only thing i could think to do was to store the number and then set that number to ring "silent" so when they call, i dont hear it at all.

I have been receiving calls from this company for a couple years now asking for a "David Carol". I usually missed their calls but today I caught it and called the number back after they hung up on me. I explained that I was not this person and I have had this number for years. I also told them I was on the National "Do-not-call" list and they said they would remove me from their list.

DFD, call them back and pay it because comcast legitimately placed your account with them. If you have a dispute with comcast, send a letter of cease communication to CCS and take up your dispute directly with comcast.

I had received this call, or something similiar to it several weeks back. That call was about Comcast calling for a recent bill to be paid. This time Im just not sure how to answer it or if I should at all. The computer says it is NOT a telemarketer but once the voice and name is verified- anything can happen.

Also note: If we're not calling for you and you want the number removed, just call and ask, we'll remove it, but it tends to take 48 hours to cycle out of the system.

And hey, by all means, ignore the calls, but chances are if you're in debt for Hollywood video, Comcast or Movie Gallery, they're going to throw it on your credit if you ignore the calls/letters or try to "handle it through the store."

if you got multiple calls, you have multiple accounts. It has nothing to do with trying to prank call you. Either pay it or send a letter of dispute. Jeeze people.

I have no idea how the hell they got my number, they did say my name, however they mispronounced it,they said it was an important business call or something, i didn't even finish listening to my voicemail, they also said something to call back toll free, i just want to know who the hell this company is, they really only called in one day, i didn't even pay attention to the case number, i'm just wonderig how they got my cell, they called me 2 times, both calls around an hour of eachother at 946 am and 1047 am on friday the 22nd... i'm just wondering if this is some kind of scam, because quite frankly, i have more important things to deal with

Hey guys, I have the same problem. They are absolutely obnoxious. They have called me all day long, every hour, on the hour. I called these people back and apparently I have a movie balance I have to pay. But why movie gallery would give my number out, why they would have these people call is beyond me. So my advice would be to check to see if you have any unpaid bills so they will shut up and leave you alone.

I get calls from this number all the time saying their CCS. I tell them to stop calling my number, they call up to 4-5 times daily to speak to someone else or so they say. When I call back they just hang up the phone.

I am on a cell and they called for me...funny thing is its hollywood video...and I am a college student in Florida yet have videos in Missouri. Hollywoods mess up NOT mine. They let someone with the same name different initial rent and billing me...49.99 Its a colection service for Hollywood...my advice...TURN YOUR movies in on time....:

You people should stop complaining and should get organized and consider getting an attorney and filing a class action lawsuit. I know one was filed in Texas, joining CCS and AllState, but I don't know the outcome. Look at the federal Fair Debt Collections Practices Act (15 USC sec. 1692-1692o) and your individual state laws, which vary dramatically. Some of the tactics described appear to be illegal under the FDCPA. You can advise them in writing not to contact you, after which it is illegal for them to continue to contact you (15 USC sec. 1692c); making repeated phone calls intended to harass (15 USC sec. 1692d(5)); the collector must identify himself (15 USC sec. 1692d(6)); calling between 9:00 P.M. and 8:00 A.M. (15 USC sec. 1692c(a)(1)) - you get the idea.
It would be helpful if people would post information about these scumbags rather than just complaining - and I would strongly advise against burning their facility, as satisfying as that would be.

Received call from 877-289-0302 at 08:33:18 (Local MST) on 05/12/07. No response to my "Good Morning"... just hung up. I called back and asked gentleman who answered nature of CCS business. He stated, "a credit control service". No further contact.

I just received a call from this number again. They have been calling about 2-4 times a week for the past few months. It only rings for a short while, I think my ringback tone throws the computer off, I don't know. They have never left a message. I don't have a credit card and I paid off all collections last year so I don't know what's going on.

These yo-yos are trying to collect on a credit card debt that I defaulted on almost 20 years ago. The fair credit reporting act allows them to try to collect (even if it is more than 7 yrs old). If you even make one payment on it though, you are on the hook for the rest of it (possibly interest on the original debt too)! You just have to make sure that these people aren't screwing up your credit reports with old defunct debts.

Hollywood Video all Corporat with "Store Partner" (not fanchise) S.P of H.V. ran the site to ground. My friend tried returning produce, negotiation->impasse. freind chose byebye. Store parter "FAILED THAT SITE" Corp sold paper off to recovery. I am returning to (Capital) or (Square) One. reopen Impassed negotiations on behalf of friend based on the evaluation Hollywood Video made of the performace of that Partner & what they sold the paper for.
