Heart.org got it right as far as the "annoyance factor". Dear heart.org, read my lips: I WILL NEVER, EVER GIVE YOU A GODDAMN DIME AS LONG AS YOU CALL MY NUMBER UNSOLICITED!!!!! We support multiple charitable organizations, and you will NEVER be one of them. Get it? NEVER!!!

Continue to get calls from various too-free numbers which appear to the the American Heart Association. I don't answer calls that I don't recognize the number or the Caller ID.

This makes at least 3 different numbers the American Heart Assoc. has called from. Spend some of that money on heart disease instead of all those toll free numbers. Alzheimer's and diabetes don't call me! But I can assure you that f I want to donate to any cause, I can find you. Don't call me, I'll call you!!!

To "Give Up Giving" -

When I mistakenly answer the phone and then tell them (or any charity) that I don't donate over the phone, they keep insisting that all they want is a commitment or that it's too expensive for them to do a mailing. They keep at until I just hang up on them. And then they still keep calling. Since they're "charities", the Do Not Call list doesn't apply.

Please know that the calls you are receiving are part of the American Heart Association’s Dear Neighbor campaign. We are reaching out to caring people to volunteer to send letters to their neighbors in February. If you would like to volunteer, please answer our call. Or, to have your name removed, please call 877-213-2767. Thank you!

This is the American Heart Assn trying to con us into their 15 letter local campaign. I am tired of their constant calling. I will keep reporting them as spam as long as they call. Their mail goes into the garbage can from now on.

Can't beat these robocall tactics or their organizations because there's profit. Just answer and tell them you no longer donate to any charity or cause via phone thanks to sponsors like these. Remember to mention the organization. Maybe other profit seekers will have more sway on these organization tactics than an individual American.

Took lady 5 hellos back & forth before she realized she had a person on line. Didn't outright ask for money but did ask me to mail info in my area on my dime. I said not interested and she starts up again. So I reminded her I just said I wasn't interested and hung up.

According to the comments I am reading - this is the 3rd phone number called by the AHA as each I have reported seems to have comments regarding the AHA. This is ridiculous. They don't leave a message. They call at very inconvenient times and they are plain disturbing.I think we all should write or e-mail AHA headquarters and complain - and tell them they aren't getting donations doing this in appropriate approach. Maybe if they received enough comments, they might reconsider.

Called us twice today. We didn't answer. Thanks to those who reported this as the American Heart Association.

This kind of stuff is the primary reason I've cut back on charitable giving. Doing so just seems to invite abuse. Give them something and they will come back for more. They seem to share info, giving to one charity seems to trigger beg attempts from others. They are hanging themselves in a noose of their own making. I don't care how worthy the charity, if they telebeg or engage in other abusive/stupid behavior, they are toast.

I wish sponsors understood the anger and resentment they create by incessant and anonymous phone calls, much less physical distress for some older Americans rushing to reach a phone call that stops ringing after three rings or leaves no message. Good causes obtain donations through the word of good works, not repetitive phone calls. Successful businesses, charities (and even politicians) do well through marketing techniques that don't involve home privacy invasion. I think these phone sponsors do harm to their image that creates a highly negative opinion of their organization. It's difficult to have respect for an organization that has little respect for you. In the meantime, all we can do is endure their unrelenting assaults and pass on our views opinions about their judgment.

Call came in on Tuesday December 20, 2011 at 9:45AM. It was someone speaking on behalf of the American Heart Association. They are looking for volunteers to send out a mailing in February 2012 to 12 homes in the volunteer's neighborhood. The American Heart Association will mail the volunteer a packet of literature and envelopes. The volunteer agrees to pay the postage to mail the AHA solicitations to their neighbors. Once you get on this volunteer list, they will call you for future campaigns; and may even pass your contact information on to other agencies so they can ask you to volunteer for them in the same capacity.
BEST IF YOU ASK THEM TO REMOVE YOUR TELEPHONE NUMBER FROM THEIR CALLING LIST!

The American Heart Association is doing themselves a real disservice by contracting out to professional callers soliciting people to do a neighborhood campaign. It should be obvious that it has "hardened our hearts" to the constant requests and solicitations. They call regardless.

I just made a report about MOD, then received a call from 1-877-213-2767 -- AGAIN. American Heart Association? Who knew? They, along with MOD, should take everyone's phone number off their call list. We are listed on the NDNC Registry, but apparently that doesn't work because charities are allowed to call. Is this a charity? Or another scam? If they truly are the AHA, why don't they allow it to show up on the caller ID? Their BAD!!

There is a reason that you get your calls automatically rejected by many people who frequent this site and are on this list.

Please know that the calls AHA authorizes commercial fundraiser InfoCision to drill us with are often not properly announced via Caller ID. There is only so much "caring people" can stand of daily mystery calls which border on harassment, placed by a million-dollar business which keeps half or more of what it collects for its charity clients. Please don't try to claim that coaxing people to propagate your junk mail is not somehow soliciting funds.

Here is the holy writ of FTC: "... if a third-party telemarketer is calling on behalf of a charity, a consumer may ask not to receive any more calls from, or on behalf of, that specific charity. If a third-party telemarketer calls again on behalf of that charity, the telemarketer may be subject to a fine of up to $16,000."

Dear American Heart Association ... in response to your posting, few people would not at least consider a donation and virtually no one doubts the good work you might do. The irate response you often get is from incessant phone calls from various numbers that only identify themselves as "toll free." Direct mail or even email when possible is preferable to people running to the phone to wonder what "toll free" service is calling and then being pressured at the moment for donations or services. Making the matter worse is that so many charities (not to mention politicians) call with the "toll free" and "unknown" and "private" numbers that, in many families, those calls far outnumber calls from people we actually know. Truth is, when we see an indentified number, we just let it go to voicemail. It's just irritating to keep going to the phone to see who might be calling. Telemarketing simply is not polite or conducive to cooperation.

This is perhaps the third or fourth time I've seen this number, usually at a ridiculous time like 8:15 this A.M. If it is truly the AHA, then they should at least not block their caller I.D. In fact, I think I am going to make that specific recommendation in future. That those organizations etc. supposedly exempt from "DNC" list should be REQUIRED to put their label on calls.

American Heart Association, calling for donations or to sucker you in to volunteering to do their fundraising for them.

I went to the AHA website and filed to be placed on their specific do-not-call list two months ago -- formerly they only been calling me from one phone number. Once I got my name listed on their website, they started calling from SIX different numbers. Then one day I picked up and, after getting their intro, I told them that I had placed my phone number on the American Heart Association do-not-call list, and to please stop calling me. They haven't called since!

Thanks to this web site, I looked up at least six different toll free numbers from my caller ID and they are all from the American Heart Assoc. They call at all hours and do not give up. I finally answered the phone a told them I was not willing to support any organization that used telephone solicitations and to take my name off their calling list.
