CitiCorp Fraud division calling to report unusual charges on your card
 May 19th, 2010
I'm getting calls from this number, however, I do not have any Citibank cards nor have I ever been affiliated with them o.O

And they do leave a short voicemail, however it is just a sound byte repeating over and over, it sounds like the intro to an action news broadcast.

Wow. I'm glad I looked this up here. I am a Citi customer and recently made some big purchases, so it must be legit. Thanks!

yes, it is legitimate call.

This is Citicards' Fraud Department. I received two calls from this number, then called them back from the number on the back of my card. They were just checking on some unusual charges and everything was resolved in less than 5 minutes.

this number is legit. They can tell my account history. They detected a fraud and good thing they verify with me before they let the transaction go through.

I didn't answer the call, but there was a message left stating this was the CitiBank Fraud and Protection department with an issue with card number ending in ****. They left me a phone number to call back with an ID number to enter when I was prompted. It had my information and they called regarding a few questionable purchases. I was able to verify whether or not without having to give out a lot of info - just yes or no. I also accessed my account online and saw there was an urgent alert with a number to call regarding possible fraudulent charges. I agree that it would be nice if they had their name on the caller ID.

It's from Citi Fraud Div. I didn't key in my 16 digi# but called back to customer service 1-800-950-5114. Found out that there IS an alert... So 866-517-5348 is really from CitiBank.

this is the third time I have received these fraud alert calls from them. I havent had an issue with any of my other bank cards, just Citibank. Important to note: Each time, the story is the same, possible fraudulent activity.
Each time they issue another card for "security reasons" and EACH TIME THEY JACK YOUR INTEREST RATE ON CARD FROM 5.24% TO 14.99% WITHOUT TELLING YOU. I just happened to notice it on the website. After many calls (most of which have customer service reps that barely spoke English) I finally got it back to the 5.24% rate. I may be cynical, but I think it is just B.S. to get a chance to raise your interest rate and lower your account limit during the poor economic times.

this is not fraud.I talked to Citi Cards and was told I was charged $4,839.43 for some college. They were kind
enough to call me to see if I in fact use my charge for this.It did not go through and will get a new card.
My old card has been cancelled. It is under investigation and will not charge me.I am pleased with their help.

It's citibank fraud. Kind of ridiculous that they don't say it's citibank when you call them back just "can I have you account number". Isn't that exactly what you AREN'T supposed to do so you can avoid fraud? I hung up and called the number on the back of my card and they were able to look up what the issue was so I could verify the transactions.

Hung up on message when it began with fraud ... so not sure if this is a legitimate call.

It is Citi Bank Fraud Dept. and it is legit. Someone had ran up $1000 unauthorized charges in one day. At least they are alert! It would be nice however if they did have their name in the caller ID window.

yes this is citibank's fraud department, they are legit, will read you back your recent transactions and ask several questions about the account that only you would know. don't think this is a scam because it's not.

Got a call today. Didn't pick it up, but instead checked online to see whose number it might be. After seeing these messages (and on other pages), I did call back. Yes, it is the Citicard Fraud Department. I'm with the person who said not to ask for credit card information. I didn't even get a 'hello', just "what is your card number?" when the phone was picked up. Honestly, I think they should leave a message saying it's Citibank and to please call the number on the back of your card because there may be fraudulent activity involved with your account.

So why do they hide who they are? They called and didn't respond when I said hello so naturally I hung up. Caller id said "Unavailable". Turns out they had some legitimate questions about unusual use of my card that I needed to know about. If you're not a bad guy, don't act like one.

9:42 am "Otherwiae press 2" was all that was on the message.
I do have a Citicard that was put on hold for possible fradulant activity.
Thank goodness it was just me on a shopping spree :)

Citi's fraud warning system.

866-517-5348 is CitiCorp credit card fraud division calling to report unusual charges on your card. However, they ask for the 16 digits on your credit card, a very dumb system. I hung up and called the 800 number on the back of the credit card. Yes, there were two charges for both cars at the same gas station and I told them it was legitimate, just don't ask me for my credit card number when you call.
