They are a legitimate collection agency. If they call you, then you owe somebody something. I was really apprehensive at first, because they needed date of birth and last for digits of social to verify, but I did some research and it turned out I'd missed a medical bill. If you respond right away, you can avoid having anything show up on your credit report. It worked out good for me, got it paid and no harm to my credit. You can also go to their website www.ubcinc.com, click on the ACCOUNT HOLDERS link at the top, and enter the 8-digit reference number and it will show you what you owe without you having to give a stranger private info, and you can even pay it from that link.
I keep getting a recorded message telling me to reference an 8-digit number. If this is United Collection Bureau, they buy up collection notices, and then try and collect, whether you owe or not.
I got rid of my caller ID so I don't know who this is. When I answered the phone it was a recording telling me to return this important busines call and included a 8-digit reference number to use when calling. I just got a new phone number less than a month ago so I'm basically blowing this one off. But the thing with recordings is that they tie up your phone until they're done.
I just called back and got another agent, It is a company called United Collection Bureau.
Somebody called with a recording asking me to call back for personal business and left this number. I called and got some guy named John that wouldnt tell me what company it was. I hung up. Wondering if anyone else had any contact with this person
