It's likely the calls are placed by a commercial fundraiser, such as Associated Community Services, Dial America, Harris, InfoCision, MDS, and TeleFund. Commercial fundraisers sneak in as Do-Not-Call exemptions but do not share the same protection as their clients. The FTC rules say: ''... if a third-party telemarketer is calling on behalf of a charity, a consumer may ask not to receive any more calls from, or on behalf of, that specific charity. If a third-party telemarketer calls again on behalf of that charity, the telemarketer may be subject to a fine of up to $16,000.''

I'm sorry, no organization which engages in a telephony form of chronic spamming every day for weeks on end can be really on the level. This isn't a matter of ignorance of the actions of a hired call center. ACLJ is perfectly capable of policing those actions and taking its business elsewhere, and it might if it cared. One look at the relentless hawking of tchotchkes that ensues on faux news show ''700 Club'' tells us how they care.

ACLJ is merely a vehicle for Pat Robertson to get judges to help bully the public and fill his billionaire empire. One report holds that the group ''absorbed Concerned Women for America's legal staff when CWA disbanded that aspect of its work.'' CWA is another outfit known for narrow thinking and conducting overly aggressive begging campaigns by phone.

I fail to see what ''good'' can come of fueling hatred toward gays, supporting the terrorizing of pregnant women, defending pharmacists who think the pregnant customer is always wrong, and getting behind racist and religious persecution in a major city which already demonstrates relatively peaceful coexistence among people of all backgrounds.

YES ACLJ is a GOOD outfit fighting for a lot of good things all the way up to Supreme Court. Typically these small organizations hire Call Centers to make fundraisers for them, so the rudeness or any other problem is due to this. Please go to their website and learn about them & give that way. I'm sure they have no idea the call centers are upsetting their donors. Maybe you can tell them this when you send them a msg from aclj.org

I just called 1-800-296-4529 to get my number removed. I got a recording telling me to call 1-800-342-2255. I left a message and I hope it works.

I have just called the 1-800-296-4529 provided by CS douglas 'below'; and had success in removing my name.--HOWEVER the organization is VALID and WORKS HARD to protect our rights in Washington; so I ask all of you that NEED removal; to continue to pray for this organization. My husband 87 and me 80 makes it a disturbance at our age. But keep praying for them. Blessings to all joni

Called at 8:15pm. They are asking if I want to add my name to the petition to fight to keep the National Day of Prayer, whereas an atheist group is trying to dismantle it. I don't think there is anything wrong with religious groups supporting our country by praying for it - I do believe in religious freedom and at least a positive relationship between church and state. But then they asked me for a donation of $100, then asked for $30-$50, or anything smaller. Times are tough and I don't like being solicited in person for donations.

They called with ID showing Unknown Name and I let answering machine pick up... nothing said, no message left for me. Minutes later another from 866-348-8647 so I'm guessing theu are connected to them. That number is for American Center for Law and justice whi it seems is harrassing people with multiple phone calls. I guess they are tied to the ACLU somehow. I can't wait for the invention that Fries the systems of these companies who always call at every hour of the day. I will gladly buy one and use it always.

I hope that they haven't taken for granted that everyone will crumble under their persistent pressure and relentless pursuit to continue the great American Beg-a-thon! Call me back and I'll tell you "No" again!

LOVE ACLJ---can't stand the fact that they call and say nothing! But I'll keep pouring my $$$ into their fight. Anything to keep America free from the tyranny of an BIG government and the biggots who claim they fight for freedom and preach tolerance considering they are the most intolerant of all.

ACLJ -- American Center for Law and Justice -- is a conservative group attempting to counter the abuses of the ACLU. Annoyingly persistent callers, to say the least. Somehow they got hold of my name and number five years ago, and they have called soliciting a donation EVERY SINGLE DAY SINCE. Calls from the following numbers:
202-607-2572
866-348-8647
202-607-2557
866-430-8734

They called at 8:30 AM on 7/20/09. Caller ID says 'Toll Free Svc.'

They must not realize who they are calling since I give a great deal of money to legitimate organizations who fight against ridiculous Christian encroachment on public policies.

Called number back, this is ACLJ - American Center for Law and Justice. This one of Pat Robinson's
money beggers. I have told them for many years not to call as I would not give them a thin dime, but they call back every few months. Why do they hide their name on caller id when they call if they are so up and up about how they are "fighting for our rights" and our so called "values"?

Just the number is given on the caller ID, and if you don't answer they go away pretty quickly.

Every Incoming call should show actual caller, or just don't call! I am sick of people calling me for donations when I am unemployed. They just keep asking for anything, $15- or $50-. I tell them I have no job now and they just press me for money anyway. I agree...SICK OF IT! I help when I can but I hae kids and grandkids to help too!!!!!!

This is the American Centre for Law & Justice. Their web site is: https://www.aclj.org. They never leave a message. Even call on Sundays. Obviously asking for donations. Since religion and the US government are intertwined, they are of no value to me. See: http://www.oldamericancentury.org/14pts.htm section 8.

Number just keeps calling and calling. When I answer either they are not talking to me or there is nobody there. This is getting sickening 3 or 4 times a day. Going to report them to the FCC.

I have two phones, and I haven't answered one in ages. The caller, whom I suspect is a solicitor for donations, used a data call, maybe like SKYPE (?), to connect to my phone. I hear this high frequency modem call. He must think this is a fax number. What a joker!

I have reason to suspect it is from the American Center for Law & Justice, judging from other other comments from this lookup number. Phone message ID reads "Toll Free Call 866-348-8647". I had received US mail solicitations for donations.

Although this is a great organization, I need to find out how to opt out of their telephone list...especially if they are using multiple numbers, which would make it difficult to recognize them.
