I notice on my caller-id that this phone number calls me at least once every day recently. A telemarketer of some kind I am sure. Please stop calling me!

When the phone is answered, nothing is there. just silence for about 5-10 seconds, and then it hangs up. No person, not even a machine talking.

Discover Card calls repeatedly and sometimes several times per day. I finally got Caller ID just so I don't have to answer their calls along with other nuisance calls. All they want to do is try to get you to take other "services" they offer that you don't need. If the call was really important like you have a questionable charge on your card they would leave a message. Since they never do I know they are just calling for another new "service". Thanks, but no thanks!! Thank you for your site so now I can find out who is calling to disturb my day.

Discover card just called me from a number in my area code. I answered and asked that my number be removed of his call list. He said ok. Not more that 2 minutes later the phone rang again. TOLLFREE NUMBER was on my caller ID. They just don't give up. Thank God for caller ID and this whocalled us site.

Since I don't carry a balance on my card, they continually try to find ways to get me into debt by telling me about their latest promotion.

Today, they called at dinnertime; I didn't answer.

It's called phone spoofing. This is mostly done by collection agencies. They pretend to be someone else
and getting enough info from you to create an account. Next thing you will get is a paper threat to pay
something in full or go to court. Some of us have been dealing with these bottom feeders for months and
years. We have programs that track and trace these numbers and then match them to the time and dates with
the phone company. None have matched the actual caller. They also spoof themselves as your neighbors.
Advice: take your bill or some proof to the phone provider and have them trace. If you owe money or have
ever in the past, you can bet places like these will be faking themselves as someone else to get the data
they need. Type:"phone spoofing" in your browser or here's a site for a start:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caller_ID_spoofing . Everyone should be aware of these activities for their
own protection. Also see: "predictive dialers" and "VOIP".

Note: Two known collection agencies that were tracked: Law Offices of Joe Pezzuto - Collect America,

The problem with Discover wasting their air time calling twice a day, every day, is that those money grubbing turds just raise our interest rates to cover their costs. Bite me Discover! Once this is paid off, I'll NEVER do business with them again.

They've been calling for four days so I finally picked up yesterday. The young lady on the other end of the phone was so nervous she could barely read her script. She informed me that she was with Discover Card.....which automatically pissed me off because those bastards just raised my purchase APR to 23.99 NOT because of anything I did but that the "cost of doing business has increased".....and that since identity theft was so rampant they wanted to offer me credit monitoring. I politely cut in and advised that I was already a satisfied customer of True Credit and therefore wouldn't be needing their services, but I truly hope she had a wonderful evening and thank you for calling. She heard nary a word I said and forged on with her script. I said, "No, No, I'm already covered." Here she goes again with the script. Aaargh!!! Listen up, people.

This number has been calling me two to three times a day for the last three weeks. I have now started to pick up and not say a word, nor do they disconnect. How annoying. I too have a Discover card, but I don't want nor need any new services. I have told them this in the past but they continue to call.

I generally ignore this number though it's EXTREMELY annoying! HOWEVER, once they were calling me about a bill I had misplaced and not paid. If you have a Discover card with a possible balance, it may be a good idea to answer. They were very rude when they finally got ahold of me and were ready to report my missing payment on my credit history. ***This is the only company I have ever had problems with! We had two accounts in our family for many years. They sent SO MUCH junk mail (with those annoying checks I had to shred) that I actually missed the bills a couple of times. We haven't used them in a long time. We don't miss them at all! They probably want us to "come back", as if the continued mailings aren't irritating enough.

My husband answered this one. It was Discover card. He was letting us know they lowered our finance rate and did we want to transfer any balances to take advantage of it? I had switched my balance to another card a month or so ago because Discover was raising my rates to 24%!!!

I'm disgusted to find out that it is Discover. I have been receiving these calls for months at least once a day but had no idea who it would be that would continue to call. I use Discover very regularly (my spouse shutters), and my card is paid off every month, so they WILL get a piece of my mind. Thanks for the info!

After receiving twice daily calls for about a week, I picked this up one night and sure enough, it was Discover Card who insisted that they were immune from the Do Not Call List since they were not selling me anything but "servicing" my account. When I told her I didn't have a Discover Card she informed me that I've had an inactive card for 15 years. I asked her to cancel it, which of course she could not do. I then asked what "services" she was offering and she went on to list a bunch of FEE BASED services. If that's not selling me something, i don't know what is. Told her to put me on their own DO NOT CALL list and she warned that it would take several weeks and I probably would get calls again. I hate these calls. The only time I want to hear from my credit card company is from their fraid department protecting my account.

The key is to cut all relationships with businesses that do this.
I'm cancelling my Discover Card, so the Tele-stalkers have no excuses.
Do not buy from Telemarketers, close accounts with companies that sick them on you.
Eventually, if nobody feeds them they'll starve to death (The companies, lol).

They call everyday never answer problem though is when my answering machine picks up it dials my brother's house. I have an old digital machine about 10 years old. I removed my brother's number from my phone book on my phone and it still does it. So, I have to answer and then hang up. Have told Discover to stop calling but they still do. I just don't get why it calls my brother.

called, hung up in the middle of our answering machine message. From what I've researched, this is either someone claiming to be from Discover (my husband has a card, but never uses it) or a scam from someone claiming that you insisted for help on debt consolidation.

Calls several times per week. Can't access my answering machine, because I use the 'Person to Person Interceptor ID' blacklist/whitelist caller ID. This device shunts them to a open port without a device, so it rings on their end, and not on mine. Get this box, it stops these people in their tracks and can't be defeated.

I called the number because I've had a lot of calls from this number, and it doesn't say it's from Discover. The answering machine that picks up when I call back says something like "Jeanne, Selence, and Dunn." Same voice that is on the answering machine is the same one who called me all out of breath (I answered the machine their last try and hung up when she asked for me).

I do have a Discover Card which I am paying off. I know Discover must be ticked because I have not reactivated my new card.

I get calls from this number two or three times a day.

I only called back that number because I was curious as to who it was.

Yeah, it's Discover Card. I called the number back and got an annoying recorded message about how they'd recently called me to tell me about a new product or service. I waited for awhile to talk to a real person but couldn't stand the repeating annoying message. So I called the number on the back of my Discover card instead. Got a real person right away and asked nicely if they'd please put me on their do-not-call list. No problem. I asked if they'd start calling again after 6 months or whatever and was told no, they shouldn't be calling me again, ever. YAY!

It's Discover Card. Makes sense. I'm a Discover Card customer. Using GrandCentral, I've added them to my SPAM filters so they'll be getting a "number not in service" giong forward. Too bad Do Not Call doesn't apply to those businesses you have a relationship with.
