I have been getting voice SMS emails from this "company" for over 2 months. I finally gave up and called the number on the website that was given on the voice message. However, they claim no calls were placed to my number. I checked my email settings and made sure all associated numbers to my email account were deleted. To my surprise, got 4 more messages from them. I don't know anyone in jail, won't accept calls from inmates and I'm sick and tired of these messages. Even changed my cell number and still getting them. This seems to me that someone is running a scam looking for idiots to accept calls and put money on a calling account for a convict. This should be against the law and I am turning this over to my attorney and reporting this to my states Attorney General.

I received a call from Unknown with a message stating I needed to set up an account by calling 866-230-7761. I already had an account set up with the right agency for the jail. The name was similar enough that one who needed to add money might think they need to do this, even though the process for the correct service was fully automated immediately upon answering the call.
I got 3 calls from this number with the same message. I beleve this is some kind of scam because we dont know anyone in jail/prison!!
2nd call from these guys, they call saying an inmate is trying to call you(me)I called them back and told them after they asked for my phone# no they couldn't have my # and if they didn't stop I would turn them in to the FCC and the sheriff's department, these people are lucky I didn't cuss them up and down, I don't.take calls from inmates!

Collect call. Claimed to be an inmate named "Victor" from the Cuyahoga County Jail. Call company claimed my account doesn't accept collect calls or that I was over the collect call limit and wanted me to use my Visa or Master Card. Also gave a phone number of 866-230-7761
for "customer service". Collect call scam to steal Credit Card numbers or fraudulent charges.
This is not a scam. This is a legitimate calling service set up to safeguard people getting too many collect calls from peoplein jail/prison. You'd be surprised how many people get a phone bill to see where a son or daughter has accepted $500 worth of collect calls. If you get that on your caller ID....SOMEBODY in a jail somewhere is trying to contact you.

I received a call from "unavailable" this morning at 8:11am so I didn't answer. listened to voicemail and it said someone from Sacramento Main Jail is attemting to contact me and to call back this number. 1-866-230-7761
. I just got scam from the Teethwhitening stuff last week, so I got a litte smarter this time by googling the phone number first. Found so many people w/similar situations. Definitely another SCAMs out there. be careful people!
THIS IS A LEGITIMATE NUMBER, NOT SCAMMERS! IF U RECEIVE A CALL FROM THIS NUMBER (Global Tel Link) IT MEANS SOMEBODY YOU KNOW IN JAIL AND TRYING TO CALL YOU! FOR REALS!
I don't know anybody who is in jail. I keep getting bothered by them. What a scam.
THIS IS A SCAM. DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION

where is does the jail take place? i need to know where he is located! please tell me!
Yesterday I received a call from an UNKNOWN number saying that an inmate from the Harris County, (houston, texas) where i live, is trying to contact me by a Global Tel Link collect call.
They said as my phone service doesn't accept collect calls, I have to give them my credit card info in order to charge me for the call.
I was about to do that (yes, i'm an idiot) when i lost the signal and the call was dropped (yes, there is a God).
Today they've called me 3 times so far.
The message said "this is a quality control message, an inmate from Global Tel Link has placed a call to this number." We do not know anyone in prison so I would guess it is a scam.
Received a call today to my cell. Recorded message states that an inmate tried to call this # from the Los Angeles County Jail System. I googled this # and see it is quite a scam, looks like it has been going on now for awhile.
I've been receiving calls and I don't like their company. I don't like how they leave out the name of the inmate. I don't like that their website does not have payment options, or the partners whom are the jails. I also don't like that on BBB their company has an F rating.
Neither the website gtl.net has the phone number, nor does BBB have gtl.net or the phone number listed. Only the name of the company has an F rating.
I don't trust them, but I need to talk to someone in detention.

Received two calls from this company on mobile phone. First time did not leave message second time did asking to call the listed number if I wanted to accept calls ... Appears to be associated with jails... May be related to person who had the number before (only had the number about 3 months).
got voicemail from global tel-ink that someone called from los angeles prison. called number back, they put me in queue. push button that they needed to call me back. when they called me back, they asked who I knew in prison. I told them to tell me who called me, I was an attorney and people may contact me if in jail. they hung up on me. this is very suspect.
leaving a message to call - when i call back they offer several payment options etc. who are these folks?
call said please call collect by pressing 1 on 866-230-7761
and that an inmate wanted to talk to me, did not return call. This is definately a scam job, and I am sure you will be charged for long distance minutes while your on hold after pressing 1. I put the alert out to many people. call came in at 2:44 on Jan 8th 2008
