Google: "portfolio recovery scam".

Report them to the Better Business Bureau or your State Attorney General - and block their calls:

By the way, if you want to set up your phone to forward their calls to the Federal Trade Commission, here's the number to use:

Call your local phone company to see if they have a service called "Call Intercept".. there is a monthly charge to have this service. With "Call Intercept", you can block any number in the United States. I have "Call Intercept" on my home phone thru Verizon and I am able to block 25 numbers. The person calling your number will get a recording saying "THE PERSON YOU ARE CALLING DOES NOT ACCEPT CALLS FROM THIS NUMBER, GOOD BYE." It's GREAT blocking Portfolio Recovery Associates from calling all day from different numbers. I am hoping that Verizon will extend call count from 25 to 50 numbers.

Upon reasearch I have concluded that this phone number is Portfolio Recovery. They keep calling at all hours starting at 8:oo in the Morning!!!! and stop about 10:00 in the Evening!!!! I get these calls that they do not leave a message or sometimes they do and if I am not the person they are calling don't listen to the message..that's a laugh. I do not owe any money to any collection agency and pay all my bills on time. they send me letters too to settle a debt that I never accured. This is a scare tactic if I ever saw one to lead people to send in their hard earned money & hard to come by money these days. They think they will scare someone into this by thinking someone may have forgotten they have a debt, but I doubt that...most of us know if we have debt or not these days and most of us pay off our debt... We as intellegent people know that these people will not get the better of us as we know what they are doing & will report this many times over to the agences that take care of people like these... Hope someone will do to them what they are doing to us and that they can't stop them!!! Hope they get what is coming to them.

deliberately dial a bad phone number and record the three tone alert followed by MaBell's voice "we're sorry, your call cannot be completed as dialed, please hang up and try again" and put that on your answering machine, then watch the fun. Or answer the call using a speech aid "buzzer' and when they can't understand suggest they get the peanut butter (or similar material with same color and consistency) out of their ears. have fun and harass them back!

They been calling just about everyday over two years with a huge amount of different numbers. Haven't answered yet nor do I ever intend to. They only have debts that are way past the statue of lim. for the state. My credit report is perfect. Don't ever answer these calls. They are scumbags.

most likely portfolio recovery (aka PRA) the best way to deal with these scumbags is to report them to the FCC. go to the fcc's site and file complaints EVERY TIME they call. they call my business fax often enough that i've kept a running list of every call from them from every number they call from, at least a dozen now. just keep filing, they will stop calling.

Don't know who it is, called and left no message. If it is them, told them before that the person they are looking for does not live here, not for at least a couple of years. Do they not know what a phone book is???

Just as I suspected, they're calling trying to find my ex husband. Too bad I don't have a phone number I could have given them, but when I answered them tonight...I gave them his current mailing address. Maybe now they'll stop bugging me while trying to find him!
