We have a third choice in this election. The Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson. It will not be wasted vote. The Libertarians just need 5% of the vote to receive federal funding for the 2016 election. They won't win in 2012 but if they get to 5% they have a legitmate shot in 2016.

Take 10 seconds and google Gary Johnson you might be surprised.

Oldbummer ain't getting my vote, even though i'm a Demy... If a guy can't release his birth certificate after 4 yrs he's got something to hide. If he hangs out with that snob Rev. Jeremiah Wright even if it was in the past oldbummer is not Right. Make fun of Mitts wife over a 1,000.00 dollar dress while Michelle took vacays of over 500,000 on the tax payers dime that is not right either. Finally, if you can't stick up for Israel are only ally in the middle east then why would you stick up for America the next 4 years...

I am sick, have taught Kindergarten all week not feeling well, went to 2 open houses, sore throat and headache and all I wanted to do was sleep today and as of this call I have now had 13 calls today from different places. I am going to take my phone off of the hook now which just is not right. I am like Pookey and will not answer my phone unless I know who it is.

Political groups are NOT covered under the DNC list! If you block one number, they call from another. I have a whole list I have blocked. They don't pay my phone bill, but they think they can tie up my phone several times a day with recorded robocalls. So glad when this election crap is over.

Called @ 8:39 PM; Caller ID said Unknown Name with 828-619-0612 as the calling #. Did not answer & caller did not leave a message. We are on the Do Not Call list, but these callers seem to be exempt, unfortunately.

Survey call asked very personal questions about how you voted in last election which is frankly none of their damn business! That is why we have what is called SECRET BALLOT, it is your personal business and no business of ANYONE ELSE!

Bubba, this thread concerns a caller exempt from DNC list scrubbing. I'll engage this topic detour just long enough to explain my point. But first, did you review that FTC Q&A page? See in particular item #38 and come back. I'll give you a few minutes ....

The DNC registry is simply that. It's not a body of regulators and not a law. A list of phone numbers cannot be commanded to ''DO YOUR JOB'' in all caps any more than a shopping list can buy your groceries.

You were never promised a magic shield which repels every call you personally deem unwelcome. You were given a means of opting out of a certain class of phone calls in one stroke. Anecdotal evidence and my own experience show that the DNC program has won broad compliance and prevented virtually all otherwise legitimate sales calls from reaching registered phones. Try dropping your registration tomorrow and enjoy the spike in huckster callers, plus chasing down every single one of them to revoke call permission.

In the current nuisance call climate, you can be sure ninety-something percent of violative calls are not coming from honest sales people but swindlers and criminals. When the DNC list first went live, a violator's risk of exposure to enforcement was pretty high. What the FTC could not have anticipated was cheap VOIP service and number spoofing, as you've touched on, to come along and help conceal the crooks.

The Telemarketing Sales Rule and the Registry have been mostly unchanged and functioning as designed in the nine year span of DNC. They've simply been outpaced by technology. The FTC is well aware of this, and will be inviting ideas for a technological defense to be aired at the Autumn summit announced a month ago.

Resident47, you are WRONG!

The DNC law does not do it's job. If it did, I would not get calls for air duct cleaning, and other useless crap from companies with whom I have NEVER done business.

Tell me about how it has put even a small dent in the calls that start out, "Hello, this is Vicky, and I am calling to help you with your credit card debt," or calls that state that they are from my credit card servicer? The law is a failure, and until the fines go up to $500,000 for each violation, and the death penalty for those who use PRI to change their Caller ID, we will continue to get those calls.

The LECs and CLECs should not be allowed to let companies fake their Caller ID on even PRI. Caller ID MUST be the same as ANI, unchangeable.

They left no message. I got a recording that states they are a political group...... They do say one can leave a message stating one's first and last name, state or residence and phone number to be removed. They don't need anything but the phone number, but they want the rest to buff up their database. DON'T give them information! You will get MORE calls, not fewer.

Comments elsewhere concur the calls are for a political survey, Holdren. As you were advised when you bellowed twice the same day about an AARP survey, the federal DNC program already ''does its job''. *YOUR* job was to understand its rules when you registered. The following URL links to the FTC FAQ page which the DNC site nearly begged everyone to read. See items 28 through 32.
