SCAM, SCAM, SCAM. Pretending to be Citibank.
This was a valid call from Citibank about my new just opened Citi Double Cash card concerning my first payment. I did not have to give any personal info other than my zip code to hear the message which did list the correct balance.
Citi Bank, didn't call back but checked my acct, I missed a payment and paid it. They are still calling.
Robo call left a message claiming to be Citi Bank and that I needed to call them back using a personal pin to hear the message. Obviously I didn't call back it's clearly a scam, I'm pretty sure if I did they would claim I had a late fee which would be hysterical since the real Citi Bank sent me a message through the app saying they waived a late fee for me since I've never been late before. Don't fall for this stuff people, don't give them your information and block their number.
Got a call from them. Thought is was a scam or phishing etc. I did not answer but the robo message was that it was citibamk. Then they called again and again I did not answer. They left the same message. My accounts with them are dormant and I do not use the card, but I do have an account. So, I checked my account status.I had missed the $95 yearly fee and did not notice since when I do my bills, I do not check them due to their dormancy. I paid the bill and the calls stopped.

Received numerous calls from this number 816-420-1002. Claim that they are Citibank. Refused to tell me what the call is about until I answer information to confirm my identity, when they obviously called me. I refused and demanded that my number be removed from their call list and I blocked the number. Please be careful when receiving calls from these individuals.
Robo call again claiming to be from Citi Bank looking for Olivia, stated this was "not a sales call" and to call 1-800-298-6359
with access code 315389. When you call that number, you get an automated answer stating someone will be with you and to call 1-800-866-9900
to speak with Citi Bank direct should the call be disconnected. Rep answers and I explain how she's reached a business and for the past week I have received multiple calls and even as soon as yesterday spoke with an escalations manager to have the number removed. When I provided her with the number, she claims it is not in their system. Asked for call to be escalated, call was unable to be escalated, same female rep kept claiming that my number could not be verified or found in the system and thus it could not be removed. Told her that whatever number is showing in the system for the Olivia name with access code 315389 needs to be removed because it keeps leading to my place of work. After four times of arguing back and forth with her she claimed she would be able to update her systems. I kindly told her to fuck off and hung up.
Robo call, claiming to be from Citi Bank and looking to speak with an Olivia, asked for zip code verification to confirm identity, if you just any random numbers on your phone and pound it states everything is confirmed and will pass you to a rep. While on hold, the automated system gives the number 1-800-866-9900
to call should the call be disconnected. When I reached a rep, I asked for this business number to be removed (as they have called in multiple times to my place of work) and that no one by the name of Olivia is even connected to this phone number. My call was placed on hold again and I was passed to a manager in the escalations department where I once again explained the matter of having this business number removed due no one with that name being connected to the number. The escalations manager then placed me on another hold to "look up" things, after a brief hold, the claimed the number is now removed from their systems. We'll see if that's legit or not.

PERSONNALLY KNOW SOMEONE THAT PAID OVER THE PHONE, CLAIMING TO BE FROM "IRS" OVER $3K WITH A CREDIT CARD....WHAT A FOOL, DON'T B FOOLED....HE FOUND OUT LATER, IT WAS A SCAM.

I keep getting calls from this number as well. I called Citibank (I have two small accounts) and both of my accounts are in good standing - no late or missed payments and no alerts. Plus, they have no record that they called me about anything. This is a scam. Period.
Just had my phone ring with this number. Recorded message requesting naming a person with a different name than mine to call about a credit card issue. i phoned CitiBank credit card support and was advised by CitiBank that this person used my cell number on his credit card application. I requested that my telephone number be removed from this person's account, was told it would be within 48 hours. I will phone then to be sure that was done, you can be sure.
I keep getting the call as well. I answered one time and they were asking me for personal info and when I refused and asked them to tell me they hung up on me. Called Citibank number on back of my card and no issues with my account. Guessing it's a scam!

Same as many people - I didn't answer it but do have a Citibank card so I checked online and found that I had missed a payment. So probably legit unless it's a scammer with access to Citibank's customer records. Thanks, digital age.

Spouse received 4 calls in last two days from 816-420-1002. I called the customer service number on back of our only Citibank credit card, and was advised that is not a known number used by Citibank. There is no record in our file indicating anyone from Citibank tried to call either of us. We have always stayed current on this, and all credit cards, and currently have a credit balance. Definitely a scam.
I got a ton of these calls, and they seemed suspicious to me since the bot asked for my zip code. But I called Citi and I did, in fact, have a late account. I then asked them to confirm the specific number, and they confirmed it as their automated agent. So if you get calls from this number, and don't trust calling it back, I suggest you at least call Citi back or log in to your account.

Just got a call and voicemail from this number. After reading everyone's posts, I checked my account online and realized I do have late balance of like $40 that I forgot pay last month. Oops! Assuming they were calling for that reason. In this situation, seems to be legit!

Scam. I just called citi to confirm. I also find it funny that two of the posts on this page "legitimizing" this call were posted on the same day, March 23, while all the other correctly critical posts are spaced months apart. Can this website contact the feds to trace the writer of those posts?

I have accounts that have always been and are in good standing and called Citibank directly, they confirmed THIS NUMBER IS A SCAM ARTIST harassing you so they can steal your information and hack your accounts! REPORT IT TO CITI and DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION OR PASSWORDS!!!

I legitimized this call last night. One of the few that ended up NOT A SCAM. This is Citibank Citicard's Collections Dept automated service. A bot calls you incessantly with a recorded message about a delinquency. If you have the patience to wait (after 15min wait) transfers you to a service affiliated with Citicard to settle past due balances. They in turn transfer you (after 5 min) to Citibank customer service to discuss resolution.
Strange that I should get these calls on the 4th of July seeing that it is a NATIONAL HOLIDAY the bank SHOULD be closed.

It is real. Had several calls from this number, caller ID showed CITI. I have a Citi Card, so rather than call back to 816-420-1002, I called the Customer Service number on back of my card. It turn out I had missed most recent payment, and digging through envelopes I found the payment I missed. I was 9 days overdue and asked if this would affect my credit. Customer Service said they report if 30 days or more overdue, so I if mailed in the payment it would arrive well before the 30 days. So in my case this was a good thing.
This is a legit call from CITICARD. Don't ignore if you have an account with them.
I didn't know who this was, so I didn't pick up, got a couple calls durring work hours. I searched the forms, sounded like a scam. But when I reviewed my credit card information online, I saw that I missed a payment. As far as I can tell, this is legitimate. But if you ever question a call, don't give them any information and tell them you will call them back on the number listed on the back of your credit card.
I am on the federal DO NOT CALL LIST. CEASE AND DESIST.

I called Citicard and they confirmed this is not them and if they ever contacted me directly, the number would show either (866) or (800). THIS IS DEFINITELY A SCAM! DON'T FALL FOR IT!

Someone in my house DOES have a Citibank card! I did not enter any info but waited for a rep to answer. They only asked for the number called and for my name and address (what can they do with that if it is a phishing scam? You can get that info anywhere). they did not ask for my SS number or CC number, just said that it was a courtesy call because the last payment due on the card was not received. I told them I would pay it online as soon as I got home, the person thanked me and we hung up. When I got home, I looked up the account and yes, somehow the last payment had been missed. I made the payment, all done. NOT a scam!!

they say it is to collect a debt i have no credit cards affiliated with citicards this is a scam it wanted me to verify my name and what zip code unfortunately i did confirm my name god knows what they will do with that little bit of information. i know this to be a scam and fraud going on here.
It is Citicards. We are filing for bankruptcy and they are hounding us relentlessly. They call at all hours of the day or night. Sometimes they leave a message and today I finally asked our lawyer and he said just block the number. So, I have blocked it until they decide to use another number to call and I will block that one also. I have paid and paid and paid on this account for years. They wouldn't reduce the interest rate so we could get it paid off. I was NEVER late, always paid more than the minimum payment, but still they kept the rate high. I know we have paid off at least 4 times what we owed them.
They called, and when I called back, they ask for your credit card number. Automated.
I recieve at least 10 call a day and i dont have a citi card nor di i want one im 84 yrs old and wouldnt use one if i had it how do i get these peopleto stop calling

It is Citicards. No phising. No scam. You are deliquent. They need apayment. That's what it is and nothing else.
It is definately citicards. I callled the 800 number on the back of my card and inquired about something else, and once that was taken care of I asked the Rep to check to see if this number, 816-420-1002, was a call from them. He did, it was. I suspect it is to try to offer either a balance transfer (lots of those have come in snail mail lately), or to enroll in the protection program.
i have been awakened weeks in a row to the same message looking for someone who isn't me, I ahve waited to speak with someone 4 times and had them assure me I am not on their list anymore only to receive more calls a few weeks later..Blocked the number eventally
Done by computer. Said I owed a debt of $72 and were collecting a debt. Asked for my bank number to take it out of my bank account. I am not delinquent on any debts.

Citi banks is behind the number. If you have a business relationship, the do not call list doesn't apply. You must call the business directly and be removed from their database. Of course, if you are delinquent, not much chance of that happening as they are allowed to call to collect on debt.

I have received several calls from them today and have not answered. I saw that some people on this site are saying it's because they have past due accounts, so I immediately logged on to my account and I am not past due on my bill at all. Either this is a scam or they've got the wrong number.

They've called multiple times over the past few days. There is one card I have that the bank screwed up and screwed me. I'm still making minimum payments on the bill though so there is still no legit reason to be calling. I love having a VOIP phone because any annoying calls like this, after a few times, I just reroute their call back to their own number. How annoying that must be to them (or "confusing" to a robot dialer)

This IS CitiBank Credit Cards. I hardly ever in my lifetime have had a late payment. I had a late payment this last month and they are going crazy over it. This number is the number they called me on. It is legit.
I was being buggi=d by citi something else byut this one stareted. I had to do the *57 call trace to get the first number to stop.

I received a call from them, and answered. It was a security call from Citicard. The recorded message was for someone else. I was given the option to tell them the person was not me. (I didn't give them any other info, though I did confirm the number they called). I did not talk to people from India, as far as I could tell...
Then they called again, and I didn't answer. (no message left)
I must have received at least 30 calls in ten days from this number. I answered it once in the beginning. It was an automated call from Citi Card with a request for me to get in touch with them concerning my account. The message also said my real name and asked that I enter a code number which; of course, I did not. Thinking on the matter, I realized that I hadn't made a payment on my last statement which put me in delinquent status. Between back surgery and a painful recovery, I completely forgot to pay my bill. Since making a payment; just this past Friday, I'm still getting bombed with calls from this number. I suspect they'll stop as soon as my payment posts. If any of you are late paying your Citi Card, I suggest you make a payment or you will continue to receive those automated messages. They're relentless! They're Bots, and they don't care if they're annoying you.

Got calls from this number four times today but I screened calls so didn't pick up. They also had the nerve to make the first call at 7 am! I was so annoyed that whoever it was kept calling that I eventually I did a *69 and found out the number that was making the calls. From some comments here I see some people saying it is Citibank and then other comments that its a scam. Call blocking sounds like a good idea! The sounds on the answering machine were muffled music and voices and then hang-up.

This number IS from Citibank credit cards. I just received it so I called Citibank directly and it is valid - not a scam. This number calls you if you have an outstanding balance due to bring you current. I was only $4 overdue so they called me anyway to straigten it out.
Some post on here seem to think if an automated message asks you to enter your information that its legit. That does not mean that its legit, most likely they are trying to obtain your information. Always call the Card Company directly.
I have received 7 calls in the past 24 hours. The first three voicemails I checked contained two chimes then a click. I just hit ignore now. This must be a scammer.

(continued) I called the collections department and told them that I had made a payment arrangement, yet the robot continues to call me, and mentioned the FDCPA. They stated that they can continue to call as long as the account is past due regardless of whether an arrangement has been made. Perhaps I'll sue them and see who's right.
in march of 2008 this number is an automated collection robot from citibank credit cards. In my opinion it's in violation of The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act 15 USC 1692d(5) (Federal Law) which forbids repeatedly causing the phone to ring for the purpose of harrassment. I had made a payment arrangment with Citi stating that I would bring my account current on or before March 15. They accepted that arrangement, yet the robot continued to call 3 or 4 times per day. The robot will not say anything until the answerer says something first. It is not possible to get a human being, yet the robot continues to harrass and will not hang up until it gets a payment. If you hang up on it, it will call back in a few hours. It called on my cell phone, and left voice mail.

. I've read about a half a page of what everyone else here has written and I called Citibank too, the number on the back of the card. The first guy I talked to was completely oblivious to what I was talking about. He, of course, said Citibank had no connection to those phone numbers, but that didn't help me at all. I went ahead and called again (I happen to have 2 cards... idiotic move, but they were my first credit cards, student cards). The second person I talked to was a young woman who knew what to do about it. She forwarded in the info to the Fraud Department and said I'd get a call back in about 24 hours. I'd agree with everyone else; it's a phishing scam. It only makes sense. Yeah, my payments have been late recently, but only because I'd just gotten laid off by the worst managed company ever. Other than that... for 2 years I've never gotten harassing phone calls like that. Who the heck would answer a call at 7 in the morning anyway from someone they don't know and it's not local? I saved the # in my phone book and set it to "NO RING" just like someone else on here did, good idea. Something for those who happen to have this feature on their cell, you can switch you volume to "ALARM ONLY" so if you use your cell as your alarm clock, that's all you'll ever hear in the morning, your alarm. This doesn't work so well for people who use their cell for emergency purposes... unfortunately. Might have to change my cell # after all this. Jeez.

Suspicious call from Citicard. Wouldnt stop asking for a payment, even a partial payment, just a little payment with my check/debit card. When pressed about his background info, account number, address, etc. he hung up.
Have received at least 40 calls from this number. I do not answer if I don't know the number and not once did they leave as message as to why they were calling.

I thought for sure it was suspicious even though the prompts sounded legit, but there was no professionalism from the person I spoke with- sounded like a used car salesman. I called the # on the back of my Citi Card after reading the comments below, the rep said that they do have "collectors" that call out of this area code, and that the information it sounded like they knew of my transaction history and bill amount could only be known by Citi... I'm 96% sure its legit now, and probably just a bill collector bc I too had a payment due about 10 days ago.
Keep us updated on if you find something out other than what I'm reporting, b/c it fired me up when I thoguht it might be scammers.
It is Citibank Credit cards. They called me today and I answered and it was due to me missing a payment. They were giving the option to pay by phone with no fee.
No message was left but when calling them back, this is CitiCards/Visa/MasterCard contacting you about some irregularity, including late payment issues. This could include Sears cards (the CitiCards manages.)
Recommend that if you don't have any cards, then some new card user either entered the wrong contact number in error or they entered in a bogus number that happens to be you. When callees don't answer, the citicard system dials your number from a different number, including different area code. Ultimately, yer gonna want to call them back to get to the bottom of this. If you do have a citibank credit card, not calling back will damage your credit rating because these boyz don't call to sell you anything. Waiting for your statement to arrive will only make it harder to resolve the problem.

This is related to citicards for sure. Citicorp Credit shows in the callerID. I have a card, yet no issues, no debts, no transaction disputes. This number calls 5-10 times a day. I especially don't like when some of the calls only have two rings, while others have had up to 20.
Phone rang this morning and I didn't make it to the phone by the 4th ring - got a busy signal. Called the number back and asked if this was Citicorp Credit and was told it wasn't.

They call me at the most inopportune times. Once at 3am another time at 10pm. I think they've worked the whole clock. I paid my Credit Card Bills but still these people keep bothering. I just won't answer and I'll wait till they get tired or get another profession. Thanks for the form, it reassures me.
