Comment on calls from 816-420-1002

February 3rd, 2016 Rachel PA

I legitimized this call last night. One of the few that ended up NOT A SCAM. This is Citibank Citicard's Collections Dept automated service. A bot calls you incessantly with a recorded message about a delinquency. If you have the patience to wait (after 15min wait) transfers you to a service affiliated with Citicard to settle past due balances. They in turn transfer you (after 5 min) to Citibank customer service to discuss resolution.

July 8th, 2013 Richard FL

Strange that I should get these calls on the 4th of July seeing that it is a NATIONAL HOLIDAY the bank SHOULD be closed.

April 30th, 2013 John MO

This is a scam!Dont believe everyone else on this post.I called the number and the robot says enter your bank account number or s.s.#.No bank ask that info!Dial 0# and it will give you a computer generated voice that's actually a real person typing! When we said that this is a scam and your using a voice typing machine they hung up on us!Definatly not citicards.

March 23rd, 2013 Paul F. MD

It is real. Had several calls from this number, caller ID showed CITI. I have a Citi Card, so rather than call back to 816-420-1002, I called the Customer Service number on back of my card. It turn out I had missed most recent payment, and digging through envelopes I found the payment I missed. I was 9 days overdue and asked if this would affect my credit. Customer Service said they report if 30 days or more overdue, so I if mailed in the payment it would arrive well before the 30 days. So in my case this was a good thing.

March 23rd, 2013 John

This is a legit call from CITICARD. Don't ignore if you have an account with them.

January 25th, 2013 NA

I didn't know who this was, so I didn't pick up, got a couple calls durring work hours. I searched the forms, sounded like a scam. But when I reviewed my credit card information online, I saw that I missed a payment. As far as I can tell, this is legitimate. But if you ever question a call, don't give them any information and tell them you will call them back on the number listed on the back of your credit card.

September 10th, 2012 M MO

I called Citicard and they confirmed this is not them and if they ever contacted me directly, the number would show either (866) or (800). THIS IS DEFINITELY A SCAM! DON'T FALL FOR IT!

August 29th, 2012 citi card FL

dont have a citi card they call 3 times in 6 hrs, didnt left a message

June 26th, 2012 h TN

Deal with citibank only,no one else. the tele # on the back of your card. The more they call the less people pay and will not pick up the phone.

March 23rd, 2012 B OR

Not a scam. Citibank collections calling on a past due account.

November 7th, 2011 James NY

It's a scam, I don't have a CittiCards/ATT card.

September 8th, 2011 JG NY

Got a call from this number this morning, no message left. Called it back and it was CittiCards/ATT.

Someone in my house DOES have a Citibank card! I did not enter any info but waited for a rep to answer. They only asked for the number called and for my name and address (what can they do with that if it is a phishing scam? You can get that info anywhere). they did not ask for my SS number or CC number, just said that it was a courtesy call because the last payment due on the card was not received. I told them I would pay it online as soon as I got home, the person thanked me and we hung up. When I got home, I looked up the account and yes, somehow the last payment had been missed. I made the payment, all done. NOT a scam!!

August 26th, 2011 linda CA

i have been receiving these calls for the past week i would hang up but today i finished listening to the recording
they say it is to collect a debt i have no credit cards affiliated with citicards this is a scam it wanted me to verify my name and what zip code unfortunately i did confirm my name god knows what they will do with that little bit of information. i know this to be a scam and fraud going on here.

August 9th, 2011 pat CO

It is Citicards. We are filing for bankruptcy and they are hounding us relentlessly. They call at all hours of the day or night. Sometimes they leave a message and today I finally asked our lawyer and he said just block the number. So, I have blocked it until they decide to use another number to call and I will block that one also. I have paid and paid and paid on this account for years. They wouldn't reduce the interest rate so we could get it paid off. I was NEVER late, always paid more than the minimum payment, but still they kept the rate high. I know we have paid off at least 4 times what we owed them.

April 5th, 2011 Casey

They called, and when I called back, they ask for your credit card number. Automated.

June 29th, 2010 Ruth Nichols

I recieve at least 10 call a day and i dont have a citi card nor di i want one im 84 yrs old and wouldnt use one if i had it how do i get these peopleto stop calling

June 21st, 2010 Robert LA

It is Citicards. No phising. No scam. You are deliquent. They need apayment. That's what it is and nothing else.

May 10th, 2010 Lani

It is definately citicards. I callled the 800 number on the back of my card and inquired about something else, and once that was taken care of I asked the Rep to check to see if this number, 816-420-1002, was a call from them. He did, it was. I suspect it is to try to offer either a balance transfer (lots of those have come in snail mail lately), or to enroll in the protection program.

May 1st, 2010 non MA

i have been awakened weeks in a row to the same message looking for someone who isn't me, I ahve waited to speak with someone 4 times and had them assure me I am not on their list anymore only to receive more calls a few weeks later..Blocked the number eventally

March 30th, 2010 Lynda Schroeder TX

Done by computer. Said I owed a debt of $72 and were collecting a debt. Asked for my bank number to take it out of my bank account. I am not delinquent on any debts.

March 26th, 2010 Sigh...bummed OH

I'm sure it is Citicards. I have two cards with them, both in good standing, and up-to-date. They want me to sign up for some program or another, and I just don't want to deal with their sales pitch... So lame.

January 28th, 2010 Pepe LePew TX

Citi banks is behind the number. If you have a business relationship, the do not call list doesn't apply. You must call the business directly and be removed from their database. Of course, if you are delinquent, not much chance of that happening as they are allowed to call to collect on debt.

January 24th, 2010 Regi

I have received several calls from them today and have not answered. I saw that some people on this site are saying it's because they have past due accounts, so I immediately logged on to my account and I am not past due on my bill at all. Either this is a scam or they've got the wrong number.

January 8th, 2010 FF CA

No kidding! Just today, I got 3x the call from this stupid #.

January 4th, 2010 Jackie

Still receiving calls from this number, even though I signed up for the DO NOT CALL list. How can they be stopped?

January 2nd, 2010 Kieran Lavin PA

They've called multiple times over the past few days. There is one card I have that the bank screwed up and screwed me. I'm still making minimum payments on the bill though so there is still no legit reason to be calling. I love having a VOIP phone because any annoying calls like this, after a few times, I just reroute their call back to their own number. How annoying that must be to them (or "confusing" to a robot dialer)

December 28th, 2009 Pissed Off VA

8:15am is too early to be calling, Citicards. They have called without leaving a message at least 6 times over the past 2-3 days, calls starting before 9am - not acceptable. Harassment.

December 9th, 2009 TS MI

Found out Citi bought the Key Cards. Been harassing me with calls so going to just pay the card off and not do business with Citi. They win.

November 14th, 2009 JJ NY

This IS CitiBank Credit Cards. I hardly ever in my lifetime have had a late payment. I had a late payment this last month and they are going crazy over it. This number is the number they called me on. It is legit.

November 9th, 2009 2nd number

Automated robot dailer, no live person at the other end.....

June 20th, 2009 ds CA

update: I called Citicard, and they (2 different departments) told me that this number was not them calling. I have no changed my phone number.

June 20th, 2009 ds CA

I received a call from them, and answered. It was a security call from Citicard. The recorded message was for someone else. I was given the option to tell them the person was not me. (I didn't give them any other info, though I did confirm the number they called). I did not talk to people from India, as far as I could tell...

Then they called again, and I didn't answer. (no message left)

February 1st, 2009 Lurker

(816) 420-1002

I must have received at least 30 calls in ten days from this number. I answered it once in the beginning. It was an automated call from Citi Card with a request for me to get in touch with them concerning my account. The message also said my real name and asked that I enter a code number which; of course, I did not. Thinking on the matter, I realized that I hadn't made a payment on my last statement which put me in delinquent status. Between back surgery and a painful recovery, I completely forgot to pay my bill. Since making a payment; just this past Friday, I'm still getting bombed with calls from this number. I suspect they'll stop as soon as my payment posts. If any of you are late paying your Citi Card, I suggest you make a payment or you will continue to receive those automated messages. They're relentless! They're Bots, and they don't care if they're annoying you.

November 29th, 2008 JackJack CA

I DO NOT have an outstanding account with Citi Cards, and they called. It may be about services they offer; but if it's about accounts its a scam

October 5th, 2008 Mica

Got calls from this number four times today but I screened calls so didn't pick up. They also had the nerve to make the first call at 7 am! I was so annoyed that whoever it was kept calling that I eventually I did a *69 and found out the number that was making the calls. From some comments here I see some people saying it is Citibank and then other comments that its a scam. Call blocking sounds like a good idea! The sounds on the answering machine were muffled music and voices and then hang-up.

September 26th, 2008 Jack MD

after calling is citicard but they call from India...

August 30th, 2008 meow

suck. hate it....can they stop calling people around. so annoying...if late fee, then just send the email then. i really hate citi card customer service

August 19th, 2008 CM NJ

This number IS from Citibank credit cards. I just received it so I called Citibank directly and it is valid - not a scam. This number calls you if you have an outstanding balance due to bring you current. I was only $4 overdue so they called me anyway to straigten it out.

June 26th, 2008 Jay TX

Some post on here seem to think if an automated message asks you to enter your information that its legit. That does not mean that its legit, most likely they are trying to obtain your information. Always call the Card Company directly.

June 16th, 2008 Brian TX

I have received 7 calls in the past 24 hours. The first three voicemails I checked contained two chimes then a click. I just hit ignore now. This must be a scammer.

April 20th, 2008 Joe Doe NJ

C'mon guys! It's not CitiCards or At&T. Just the usual attempt to steal your identity.
Don't answer the # you don't recognize! It has nothing to do with your bills overdue
or whatever. Stop being an easy target!!!

March 17th, 2008 MSM OR

Got called by this number twice today in two hours. Did not leave a message either time. 03/17/2008

March 11th, 2008 Scott GA

(continued) I called the collections department and told them that I had made a payment arrangement, yet the robot continues to call me, and mentioned the FDCPA. They stated that they can continue to call as long as the account is past due regardless of whether an arrangement has been made. Perhaps I'll sue them and see who's right.

March 11th, 2008 Scott GA

in march of 2008 this number is an automated collection robot from citibank credit cards. In my opinion it's in violation of The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act 15 USC 1692d(5) (Federal Law) which forbids repeatedly causing the phone to ring for the purpose of harrassment. I had made a payment arrangment with Citi stating that I would bring my account current on or before March 15. They accepted that arrangement, yet the robot continued to call 3 or 4 times per day. The robot will not say anything until the answerer says something first. It is not possible to get a human being, yet the robot continues to harrass and will not hang up until it gets a payment. If you hang up on it, it will call back in a few hours. It called on my cell phone, and left voice mail.

March 6th, 2008 TheJenellen02 OH

I've gotten calls from 816-420-1169 and 816-420-1000. I've read about a half a page of what everyone else here has written and I called Citibank too, the number on the back of the card. The first guy I talked to was completely oblivious to what I was talking about. He, of course, said Citibank had no connection to those phone numbers, but that didn't help me at all. I went ahead and called again (I happen to have 2 cards... idiotic move, but they were my first credit cards, student cards). The second person I talked to was a young woman who knew what to do about it. She forwarded in the info to the Fraud Department and said I'd get a call back in about 24 hours. I'd agree with everyone else; it's a phishing scam. It only makes sense. Yeah, my payments have been late recently, but only because I'd just gotten laid off by the worst managed company ever. Other than that... for 2 years I've never gotten harassing phone calls like that. Who the heck would answer a call at 7 in the morning anyway from someone they don't know and it's not local? I saved the # in my phone book and set it to "NO RING" just like someone else on here did, good idea. Something for those who happen to have this feature on their cell, you can switch you volume to "ALARM ONLY" so if you use your cell as your alarm clock, that's all you'll ever hear in the morning, your alarm. This doesn't work so well for people who use their cell for emergency purposes... unfortunately. Might have to change my cell # after all this. Jeez.

March 5th, 2008 J Hugol MI

Suspicious call from Citicard. Wouldnt stop asking for a payment, even a partial payment, just a little payment with my check/debit card. When pressed about his background info, account number, address, etc. he hung up.

March 3rd, 2008 St. Pierre MA

Have received at least 40 calls from this number. I do not answer if I don't know the number and not once did they leave as message as to why they were calling.

February 15th, 2008 Don Muerte CA

The number is Las Palmas Apartments in Las Vegas. You can leave a review of their complex at the following site:

Maybe a few hundred negative reviews will suggest to them that placing annoying calls might not be in their best interest.

February 11th, 2008 Steven Kaye CA

I said "Hello" as I answered, got a message about my "associated bank card" and how I should press 1 to continue in English (or 2 in Spanish, but that part was said in Spanish). Pressed 1, got disconnected.

too bad they are not in houston ..

January 31st, 2008 carol NY

I must get 30 calls a day from this number, they call and call but no one is there when you answer it. I am so tired of them calling, what can I do?

January 30th, 2008 Dallas TX

I thought for sure it was suspicious even though the prompts sounded legit, but there was no professionalism from the person I spoke with- sounded like a used car salesman. I called the # on the back of my Citi Card after reading the comments below, the rep said that they do have "collectors" that call out of this area code, and that the information it sounded like they knew of my transaction history and bill amount could only be known by Citi... I'm 96% sure its legit now, and probably just a bill collector bc I too had a payment due about 10 days ago.

Keep us updated on if you find something out other than what I'm reporting, b/c it fired me up when I thoguht it might be scammers.

January 29th, 2008 Michael CA

It is Citibank Credit cards. They called me today and I answered and it was due to me missing a payment. They were giving the option to pay by phone with no fee.

January 25th, 2008 primemover CA

No message was left but when calling them back, this is CitiCards/Visa/MasterCard contacting you about some irregularity, including late payment issues. This could include Sears cards (the CitiCards manages.)

Recommend that if you don't have any cards, then some new card user either entered the wrong contact number in error or they entered in a bogus number that happens to be you. When callees don't answer, the citicard system dials your number from a different number, including different area code. Ultimately, yer gonna want to call them back to get to the bottom of this. If you do have a citibank credit card, not calling back will damage your credit rating because these boyz don't call to sell you anything. Waiting for your statement to arrive will only make it harder to resolve the problem.

January 17th, 2008 Joey C WI

This is related to citicards for sure. Citicorp Credit shows in the callerID. I have a card, yet no issues, no debts, no transaction disputes. This number calls 5-10 times a day. I especially don't like when some of the calls only have two rings, while others have had up to 20.

January 13th, 2008 DEB

Phone rang this morning and I didn't make it to the phone by the 4th ring - got a busy signal. Called the number back and asked if this was Citicorp Credit and was told it wasn't.

They call me at the most inopportune times. Once at 3am another time at 10pm. I think they've worked the whole clock. I paid my Credit Card Bills but still these people keep bothering. I just won't answer and I'll wait till they get tired or get another profession. Thanks for the form, it reassures me.

January 5th, 2008 jk CA

This actually was a legitimate call from my credit card company (ATT Universal Card). I called the number on the back of the card, and he confirmed that they had tried to contact me twice. The agent acknowledged that the call probably sounded 'scammy', and said that lots of customers were suspicious about some of their calls.

December 21st, 2007 Lulu CA

Yes, it is Citi. I had a past due account and that's why they called... I never actually answered though so I don't know if they would actually speak when I answer.

I started getting the calls - many of them - when I/my phone was in Italy roaming!!! At $2 a call every time it rang. Plus w/ the time change, it would ring half the night;( I never answered. Hate them!

These people are claiming to be calling from Citibank, according to the automated message left on our voice mail. I'm pissed. No one wakes me up at 8am on a Saturday unless someone's dead or dying!

October 24th, 2007 Rich Michigan MI

Calls incessantly. When I answer, it tells me to wait for an important call. If I do wait, it just disconnects. I know it is from Citibank because it says so if I call the number back.

October 18th, 2007 Matt MA

This is Citibank/Citicards. 2 reasons why you may be getting calls from this #:

1. They want to sign you up/you've been "pre-approved" for a card.

2. Like KH said:

"This is the Citi Cards automated line, it is just like telemarketing. It is the phone number that calls you to let you know you need to pay your credit card bill. If you call the number back it directs you to the automated payment system."

I have a late payment on a card and they will call you incessantly until you pay it up (times per day varies). Of course I just ignore the call (because I'll pay it as is) :)

October 14th, 2007 Katie CA

This number sucks! They have called 7 times today beginning at 5:18am and it is only 4:26pm and this has gone on for over a week. They claim to be Citicards and ask for my account number. Completely sketchy, but more annoying than anything else. They will never get any information from me.

October 4th, 2007 Julie MI

816-420-1002 // This # calls me 2-3 times a day. I haven't answered it. Today, I called it back and got the message "Thank you for calling CITI CARDS". So it is for Citibank, credits cards, in which I am a card member.

I keep reading and hearing about this problem, but I still have NOT heard what are all of you doing about it. Have you guys contacted your phone provider, what aboutthe police? Have you all filed a report for the police to look to find whose number is this and what are they gonna do to shut it down? Maybe there needs to be something additional done like escalate it to the higher authority. Bottom line is we all know about this number and have no idea who they are and how to make them stop. BUT we are not stupid. Therefore, we need to join and fight this. No not by cursing at them. That gets nowhere, but by action and ending this joke for once and for all!

September 19th, 2007 MK PA

I'm not sure who it is, but I'm guessing that it is a collections company. I've been getting calls from them as well.

September 14th, 2007 Kat

This is Citibank calling all of you-- They administer the following cards: Choice Visa, At & T, Sears, Associated Bank, Shell, Goodyear, Radio Shack, Zale's, Home Depot, Phillips, Rooms to Go, Childrens Place, BP, Quicken, Verizon. If you have any of these cards or do business with them, you are at risk of getting these calls even if you are 48hrs or less late on you credit card payments to them, They will call your cell phone and home phone if they have it and start at 8:00am til 9:00pm. Use call blocking provided by your phone services. IF you do not have this, it would be wise to get it.

September 13th, 2007 paula GA

This is gettng annoying. My cp keeps ringing at work and I don't take calls at work unless it's an emergency

September 2nd, 2007 M

I'd like to know why if there are so many complaints about these people calling, why isn't someone doing something? I've read in the comments that alot of us are on the DNC list, so aren't they breaking the law? Isn't it considered harrassment if they are calling 3 & 4 times a day, every day? Who do we need to start harassing to get these people to stop calling us??!!

August 24th, 2007 Chris IL

Today I received 5 calls from this number - I don't ever intend to answer the call. I also just got dinged with a charge from NY from my checking account yesterday. Related?

August 22nd, 2007 mike MO

The number is Citicard credit cards. They told me that they are only allowed to call 3 times a day and if they leave a message there is some legal mumbo-jumbo that says they cannot call back.

August 16th, 2007 jose PA

not sure who is calling.

August 15th, 2007 Smith

Had six so far today, computer generated, leaving message to call with a given security code. Would like to be able to have me removed from their call list.

August 9th, 2007 POed in CA CA

Been getting 4-5 calls a day sometimes for the past 2 weeks. I cannot get number blocked. It leaves a message sometimes telling me to call some 800 number, and to tell them a code. It asks for the wrong guy. I will file a police report. It seems to be fraud. I never call them back or will. It's such a waste of my time. I will change my number now.

August 9th, 2007 riverside CA

I've been solicited for the past week and a half by thi number on my cell phone. I'm going to file a police report on them tomorrow. I get 5 calls a day or so, sometimes a voice message telling me what number to call back, and some kind of special code. I will never call them back.

August 2nd, 2007 R Marshall

Ive been contacted 2 times on my cell phone from this number - no message was left.

July 23rd, 2007 Steve CT

Citibank - payment collection or marketing

July 19th, 2007 Oliver NJ

This is an identity theft SCAM! Don't give them any of your information.

July 15th, 2007 Viviana 00 Puerto Rico

I have bee receiving calls from this number for two day in a row since yesterday 07/14/2007. 11 times!!!!!!! I picked it up once and no one answered. The second time it was a message from some credit card company and to hear what was the reason they were calling the asked me to press 1. Then I hung up, cause I donĀ“t know if they are trying to steal my signal or get my personal information.

July 3rd, 2007 Jeff MA

Several calls a day for several weeks. I called back and got CitiCard. Pressed "0" when asked for account number, and talked to representative who found my name on her list and asked for security code. I told her I don't have a CitiCard. She thanked me and wished me a good day.

June 28th, 2007 S V

this is a scam...i have never had one late payment with Citi EVER and they are calling for those of you who say "pay your credit cards",you dont know what you are talking about....this is a total scam...i called citibank---the number off my credit card---and they told me NOT TO ANSWER these calls, that they are bogus..........

June 13th, 2007 Margo MN

My question is why on earth do you people think they would list individual customer service numbers or automated alert phone numbers on the internet. You people are complaining that it doesn't come up on google or your caller ID and thats for a reason. People shouldn't be calling back individual customer service reps at the call center to tell them not to call back. When you signed up for the credit card you gave them all your information by providing your Social Security Number. Go pay your credit card bills and the calling will stop.

June 13th, 2007 KH MN

This is the Citi Cards automated line, it is just like telemarketing. It is the phone number that calls you to let you know you need to pay your credit card bill. If you call the number back it directs you to the automated payment system.

June 5th, 2007 Jay

Definitely a scam.

The people claiming otherwise are most likely part of the scammers. If you have a past due balance or a Citi account, it is a coincidence. I have a Visa Debit from work, I work at another bank, and I've had the card about a week.

It's impossible for me to have an overdue balance or for Citi to have my info. Don't give them a thing and ignore the people here telling you otherwise.

June 5th, 2007 Racerdog CO

CitiCard/Bank has no reason to set up an automated phone call to obtain information about account information. They already have it. So the call is definately a scam.

June 3rd, 2007 adw

phish scheme i think - don't give them any info. i've set their ringtone to "none" so I don't even know they've called until my phone says I've missed a call.

May 14th, 2007 Gaines TN

I do believe these calls were placed from Citi as a result of my current bill's payment being late. I called the number on Citi's website instead of giving personal information to an unknown caller. I don't see why they felt they needed to harass me as they already charged me a $40 late fee and are going to rape me with 36% interest until I can pay off my balance and never use them again.

May 13th, 2007 Robin MN

This is incredibly frightening.... seeing as how I *have* a Citicard... and I have a past due balance. However, going by the rest of their crappy customer service I figured that they wouldn't call to tell me my acct was late. By the way, this number does NOT google as a CitiCard number. Do NOT give your account number to ANY number except the customer service on the back of your card.

May 12th, 2007 Sarah

several calls a day no one says anything...getting really annoyed...anyway to block a specific number?

April 30th, 2007 shoof67 NY

I just recently started getting these calls. They have been calling for the last week. Unless I know the person, I won't answer. No messages have been left. They have called from 816-420-1168 as well as 816-420-1169. Luckily for me, I have never known anyone from MO so I have never answered the calls.

April 26th, 2007 Rosemary MA

this is definitely not the collections department. whoever keeps posting that it is probably them. It is a scam to get you to give them your credit card number or social security number. I called them and told them I was reporting them and they laughed and basically admitted it. I have reported them to the FBI and the FTC and I spoke with the fraud department at citicards. They are getting right on it and hopefully the phone company that leases the line will shut down the number...they also call from 816-420-1168. They have harrassed me with 5 phone calls every other day for a week now. They messed with the wrong person.

April 26th, 2007 none NJ

it's the collections department calling

April 26th, 2007 Rosemary MA

this is definitely a phishing not under any circumstances give them any information....they ask for your credit card number or social security number!!!they call 5 times a day and the last call they finally leave a message saying it is AT&T universal giving a different call back number and "security code" to punch in...I don't call back....I called 1002 number that calls me 5 times a day and asked for a supervisor, they would not give me a supervisor and kept asking for my credit card number or SS#, I told them I was reporting them to the attorney general office and the FBI and they hung up.

April 19th, 2007 chas IL

March 25th, 2007 emily MD

I keep getting calls from this number atleast 4-5 times a day. I've picked up thrice and they'd asked for someone else. I told them that they have the wrong number and they say will remove my phone number. The next day yet again the calls from Missouri - citicards. I even called citicards and asked them to take off my phone number - lets see how long this continues. Very annoying. Can we report this someplace??

March 18th, 2007 Ty

I recieved 2 calls within 2 hours today, Sunday. I didn't pick up and they left no message. Looks like it's Citibank.

March 15th, 2007 Kelly MA

This is the first time they called me. I never answer when it's from an area code I don't recognize. If it's important, they'd leave a message and they didn't. I'm glad I looked on here. I will not answer if they call back.

March 13th, 2007 KEvin

I got these guys to stop calling me by using a free letter on i want to thank mark for giving me the website.

March 10th, 2007 Simone Giovanni

Got call just now...checked history this is the third this week...I guess whoever has now added me to their list. yay. :(

March 3rd, 2007 James

I get called 2-3 times a day on our pay per call emergency cell phone- Message says to call them back - I did, they ask for SS# or card number (I don't) they then say call the number on the back of your card - I did - They have no records of any call service calling us for any reason. This is a phishing scam, do NOT give them any info.

February 27th, 2007 heather

nothing but static

February 24th, 2007 LR CA

Rec'd three calls this morning. 810am, 1020am and 1214pm. I work night shift and usually remember to turn my phone off. If I don't know the number I won't answer it though, they could have left a message. Hah, I wonder if it is a telemarketer trying to get their call volume up so they don't get fired.

February 24th, 2007 420 OR

This number is from Citibank (a.k.a. citicards, universal card). If you are getting repeat calls from this number it means your account is past due. In other words, pay your credit card!

February 23rd, 2007 BIG Daddy

I didnt answer, I refuse to answer, hold all my calls i'm busy

February 13th, 2007 Cap WI

Sooo tired of the repeated
calls, no message, and the
hanging up. Whether I have an account or not, doesn't matter. And if it is legit...someone better clean it up, and come up
with a better method of reaching people.

I was curious about this call and suspected it was a phishing scam. I called Citi directly and found that it was legitimate. We had only one call on January 26, 2007.

January 22nd, 2007 Trina P. AZ

Finally spoke to someone... an automated voice asks for some guy. Does he want the unused minutes on his AT & T card. If he's there, please press 1, if not press 2. I pressed 2. The voice asked if he was at this number, I said no. They connected me to a person. It is Citibank Collections looking for this guy that used to have my phone number. They tried to get my name but I said they didn't need it, to take my number off their calling list and that I reported them for harrassment since they never leave a message and call all hours of the day and night. They said they don't leave a message because then the person they are trying to contact will never answer when they see their # pop up.... Anyway.. thought I would let you know! Hope it helps! They haven't called me anymore today.

January 22nd, 2007 MM IN

don't even know anyone from this area, yet I got two calls from this number today with no voicemail or anything. It's very annoying.

January 22nd, 2007 AMT

I started receiving calls from this number last Wednesday on my cell phone. I have never answered since I didn't know the number, yet it keeps calling - at least 5 times a day. No one has ever left a message, so I know it's not important, but how annoying! They even called 3 times on a Sunday, the lastest being 7:30 pm.

January 21st, 2007 Trina P. AZ

This # just started calling me yesterday. Both times they called I missed it (wasn't home) but no message was left. I don't have any Citibank cards... so I don't know what they want. From what I have read of these posts.. this is a scam. Thanks for the info everyone!

First call was on Dec. 20, 2006. Since then, the number has called every single day, as many as five times in a single day. Nobody ever says anything. A couple of times I've got blank voice messages.

-Jan. 3, 2007

November 24th, 2006 SL

We get calls from these people every day, several times a day. They called 4 times between 8 and noon today. If you pick up, it's silent until you make a noise. Then this little automated voice comes up and asks you to push buttons if you are so and so. If you tell them they're calling you by mistake, they make you wait for 5 minutes and then connect you with a real person.

I screamed at some woman this morning and told her she better never call my house again, although I doubt it will do any good.

November 15th, 2006 Ed TX

It's the 3rd time today they have called. Twice yesterday. Nobody talks back when anwered or will let it ring 3-4 times and hangs up before I can reach the phone.

I have received 4-5 calls a day for the past week. Have never answered. However, after researching the number on the internet, apparently it's a scam called "phishing". Meaning they are trying to get information out of you, such as credit card, dob, ss#, etc. IDENTITY THEFT IS THEIR GAME!

call the number back, when it asks for your account number just say "0", it will ask again keep saying "0"... then you will be transferred to customer service. tell this person to stop calling you and they will take you off the list... simple as that...

August 24th, 2006 Mar Com WA

Automated call with specific name inserted on most recent call (08/24). Attempts to obtain credit card information. Hang up on this scam.

August 23rd, 2006 carrie m NJ

hey. turns out it was legit. if it happens again, i am still not going to give any information out. i'll still hang up and call citicards directly.

this campaign would be much more effective if the automated voice said to "call the number on the back of your card" instead of being creepy and asking the answerer to punch in numbers. that's so scammy. it still seems fake even though i know it's legit.

so yeah, folks. give citicards a call and ask them what's up.

August 23rd, 2006 carrie m NJ

this number has been calling very much over the past 3 days.
on monday 5/6 voicemails on my cell phone were blank, but one of them told me to call 1-800-298-6359 and enter a verification number. (it was an automated voice) then once i turned on the phone and answered their 7th call, another automated voice told me something we need to talk to you "about your citicards statement" and to enter the last 5 digits of something, i don't remember what.
then on tuesday, got 2 calls (i picked up and hung up right away.) one at 9 AM and one at 5:30 pm. looking forward to today. i've just reported them to the DNC registry, so we'll see if they stop.
