John, that is the most ridiculous thing I have heard all day. MSNBC reported this scam in February 2008. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23147777/
Who was president then? I don't think the absence or presence of scammers has anything to do with the current administration- but nice job trying to blame that one on Obama.
My auto warranty is expiring? Yeah, right... nice try.
Called my Cell...used up my minutes!!!
Okay.. this is just someone who wanted to make extra cash from home and was given a computer generated list of numbers thattheir phone dials...
They are just trying to make it through an Obamanation series of the gov't ruining our future and our children's future and our grandchildren and great grand children's futures.
same deal... called cell.
I received this call too. I don't know whay, recently, I received different number calling for the same message, your auto warranty will expire....
what is going on?
Called my cell on March 9. I did not pick up. It has got to be a scam!
This number keeps calling me and I keep asking to be removed and they hang up on me. Then they call me two days later and it starts all over again. I spoke to a representative and I asked them what I drive and they hung up...again.
SOB called me on two different cell phones today.
i have been receiving this call ever since my friend left the state to see the band PHISH. i was assuming that it was him using someone elses cell number but after reading this , I do own a blackberry but they are calling on my home phone.....I dont think its associated with blackbery bc i worked at 2 cell phone places for a total of 5 years and theres no way blackberry could do that Technically ( IT) speaking. Also my blackberry is registered through my mother with her home number not mine....if it was blackberry they would be calling me ON MY BLACKBERRY. Usually cell accounts are password protected. I havent picked up the phone and received this call very early in the morning 7am yesterday. Also my car has been fully paid for and there is no more warranty even on it!! So I have no clue whats going on :(
Called my cell phone on 3/10/08 at 9:50. I didn't recognize the number so I didn't pick up.
It called my old phone that I dnt use anymore and left no message
called my cell number and left no message
They called me at school at 10:56 and didn't leave a message. I couldn't get through when I called back.
They called today while i was at school at 12:14 and didn't leave a message... Dont call if ur not gonna pick up or leave a message... The first time i called back i got the "disconnected" message then i tried again and got a busy signal... Wth???
I had this number on my cell last night -- missed call. Now it makes sense (after reading this site). I've received several calls for an extended auto warranty as of late to my cell. WHen I spoke to someone and said "I had asked to be removed already" they quickly said "there are several comanies like us so it probably wasn't us calling you."
Thank you all for your feedback here. This really helped.
called cell with bull about a warranty about to expire, I'd say they are off by about 3 years filed a complaint at http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm
ass hole didn't leave a message
please tell this bustard to stop calling my cell phone. Am so sick and tired with him.

Called this morning. No message.
I don't think its Verizon or Blackberry that's selling your number. I got the call today on my iPhone (AT&T). It's a sleazy auto warranty company- see here:
And do like the MSNBC article tells you to and report these assholes to the FTC!
i got the same call and tried to call back 3 times and every time got a busy signal. the 4th time i got the "disconnected" message. 3-10-09
CALLED MY CELL PHONE. LEFT NO MESSAGE, DID NOT ANSWER THOUGH. WEIRD HUH?
3rd call from this caller for "extending my automotive warranty". No idea how they got my number first of all; have pushed 2 to be removed from list twice; third call today, pressed 1 to speak to sales rep. Told her I was very angry, she said "I'm angry too" and hung up on me!!!
the number called today 3-10-09 1pm
I don't have the blackberry service
just verizon.... and I don't own a car
I thought it was a telemarketer so I let the call go through and then tried to call it back and got this message "The phone number you are trying to reach has been disconnected if you think you have reached this message in error...." and I hung up
called today....seems like everyone is getting this call today or yesterday and I see a couple of people it called have blackberry service....I just got this service last week and low and behold I get this scam call...translation??? Blackberry is selling our info to telemarketers.....anyone a lawyer cause I got a suit I'd like to file......

I got the same call at 10:48 am and called back. I got a fast busy beep. I think its time I change my number.
i got a call from this number at 10:41 today 3-10-09 and just figured it was a worng number and didnt answer...then found this...creepy lol. abd i dont think it has anything to do with buying a used car like one of you said cuz im young and have not bought my own car lol. i wld like to know how they got my number...
I received a call also from this apparent bogus number on 3-10-09.I also looked up the number on the web and found it to be a Mike torres in lubbock tx.Don't know if it really is his number though.I just got a busy signal too when I called back.I have a friend in texas and thought it was him but it wasn't.I guess we all better watch out for these bozo's who try to scam others. Please watch out everyone.I'm glad to find this website with other people with the same problem.Hopefully someone will be able to stop whoever it is.Be aware folks.....
Called my cell phone (not a listed number) this morning @ 7:58AM, I tried to return the call and all I get is a busy signal.
Called my work cell phone. Said, when asked that it was Brian from Warranty Services Center. That they are located in Southern California. Not to offend anybody.....He sounded like he was in really really Southern California.
Called my cell phone (unlisted number). Tried returning call using land line and received a fast busy signal.
This number called one of my phones 3-9-09 at 8:21 p.m., then on 3-10-09 they called my other phone(which isn't listed at all) at 9:28 a.m. I wanna know how the hell they got both my numbers, i think it is sketchy cuz you can't even get through to anybody when u try and call back. Oh well screw these shady people.
Called my (gov) work line. Didn't answer in time.
Call from number, did not answer. It was at 9:02 AM this morning. I hid my call ID and tried returning the call to no avail. Automated message saying number has been disconnected. Typed in info found on whitepages.com and searched social networking sites for the name. One hit on Facebook, lawyer in El Paso, doubt that would be the person calling LOL Searched google, found this, glad I didn't answer the call. Strange scam.
And ew, they used your name? Cre-e-eeepy.
Call (well...pun INTENDED) and file a complaint with Southwestern Bell.

I got a call from this number 8:21 p.m. March 9, 2009.
Shows on internet as Mike Torres 27TH ST
LUBBOCK, TX 79407
Someone said probably not his number. Probably not. It's probably all that scam car warranty stuff and other crap you get after buying a new or used car and they give your info out to all the marketing folks they can. I got a truck and a car right after Christmas and I've been bombarded with crap every since then. Crap from folks other than the dealer or brand i bought from. REVIEW PRIVACY POLICIES CAREFULLY AND DECLINE EVERYTHING.

Called my work number and my Blackberry number....be interested to know how they got my Blackberry info. I didn't answer the call.
Don't harass Mike Torres by doing any of the crap above. I don't even think it's his number anymore. He probably moved or got another number, but google has this annoying habit of keeping every phone number no matter how far back it was active.

Call from this number 3-9-09 8:45pm central - I did not answer - always check 'phone lookup' sites before allowing any unusual # to contact me. After reading this helpful info. Glad I didn't answer.
He left a message using my name as if he were an old friend. He isn't, and until I found this site it felt creepy. Glad to know it's only a scam!
No message. Had a call previously from same number before and again ignored it. Not going to run up my cell minutes! If they truly wanted my business they'd leave a message with an actual callback number!
Call came in at 2018 hrs, no one on line on answer, cut to dead air after 30 seconds. Several call backs resulted in fast busy signal. A few call backs resulted in automated operator "the number you called is either out of service or has been disconected, if you feel this message is an error, hang up and call again" Check of number brought me here.
Got a call from this number claiming that my car warranty ran out, called it and sent me to an Indian call center. Asked them if they actually warranty VWs, they told me they warranty everything. Called BS on them and hung up. Called back to screw with them, fake busy signal. Don't trust this crap. I've got a five year warranty on my car, so knew they were messing with me.
Got a call from this number about a warranty scam. They waste my time every day, calling from fake numbers and such, so I wasted their time and signed up for a warranty on a 2003 Honda Accord (VIN # from eBay) and just gave them a load of totally bogus information.

I am going to suggest this... since, you can't ever get off this list or these reoccurring phone calls. Take out every reader reply card you get from a magazine, the ones where you don't need a stamp... then send it to this address below which is the address associated with this number - I looked it up. Let's fill Mr. Torres mailbox up with as much junk mail as possible since he loves to fill up our phones with as many junk calls. I believe the junk mail will replicate itself, much like his phone calls, and it will be only a matter of time that wherever this guys moves, his junk mail will follow him.

Got the same message. Tried to call back and got a fast busy signal.
Computerized call with a recorded message selling an extended warranty on my vehicle.
Got a message regarding reactivating the warranty on my car, when I asked about more details, the person hang up.
