I think they got my number from my online job-hunting; possibly from VACS (Voice applied customer service), which I signed up on yesterday. Then today, I have gotten three calls from different numbers I don't recognize and are outside of my state. I did not answer and there were no voicemails left. This online degree place sounds right because a lot of their "job" postings are actually just ads trying to get you enrolled in some school or training program to get money from you.

Got a call from this number when I called back it just sounds like air in the phone

This is a call from an online college or company that gets personal information for online colleges. They will keep calling several times a day if you don't ask them to remove your information from their directory. I think they (and a few other similar places) got my information from While filling out information to find out about jobs I did "pass" on several ads for online schools throughout the site, apparently it didn't matter and jobsonline shared my personal contact information.

These people also use the number: 800-973-0379 Applied online with CareerBuilders and ever since these two (2) numbers have been calling and they DO NOT leave a message...when you call the number back they don't answer.
 May 01st, 2009
OK, This makes a total of 3 different numbers that these people are calling from. This is so totally wrong! And all on the same day too! This is harassment in the ultimate.

I did what Mark suggested, just called back that number and they gave the option to put my number on the do not call list. I did so only a minute ago so hopefully it works. I am all ready a student and certainly did not fill out anything online for furthering education so I have no idea how they have my number.
 Apr 24th, 2009
been getting calls from this number for about a week, chose option to be taken off call list and next thing i know a different number is calling. 800-973-0379, 805-456-1721, 801-713-5622, 561-807-2083, 859-707-6020. all numbers online show a different company name when googled and have an extreamly similar story. These numbers all started calling at the exact same time.

Same deal as many other posts here - several calls per day. I just called and got an automated system identifying themselves as Degree Street, which said to press 1 to be placed on their Do Not Call list. I did so, then a different automated voice read back my number and asked for confirmation that this was the number to go on the list.

I have received at least two to three calls per day since 4/7/09 from the above phone #. They will not leave a message and hangs up when I answer the phone.

I first got a phone call from (646) 520-696 on April 6, 2009 at 9:05 AM from New York City, NY from a lady asking me to verify some information. I then received another call from (805) 456-1721 on that same day at 3:14 PM. According to my caller ID, the location for this 805 number is in Santa Barbara, CA. They wanted to know if I wanted to continue or further my education or school. I told them that I ran out of money, and the conversation ended in a minute and ten seconds. Whoever would do anything like steal & lie for money is evil at heart. I am glad that there is a God in heaven by the name of Jesus Christ who will judge everybody individually and who will expose whatever they have done, and there will be nowhere for them to hide. We do not need Judas Iscariots running around with money bags filled with other people's finances.

805.456.1721 has called me three times in one day. No message, even though I say my name in my voicemail so they know exactly who they are calling. So obnoxious. Probably some sort of scam, trying to get personal info or something.
 Apr 09th, 2009
these calls are coming from a site called ''
if you respond to some 'craigslist jobs' get directed to this site.

9 odd calls in 1 1/2 days from this number and a couple of others, all similar! We have NOT applied for any thing on and have NOT checked any boxes about furthering our career.
 Mar 04th, 2009
Called me Saturday morning and left a partial message "..our records indicate.." and then the auto-dialer hung up. Called me from 805-456-1721.

Dear Rose

We spoke when I phoned to ask you to remove my name from your list. You asked me to send you an email to request that. This is that email.

For the past 3 days I received numerous phone calls. The callers said that I had filled out an online form about further education (I did not), and that DegreeStreet had given them my personal details! I asked each caller to not call again, and they agreed, but I think it would be more efficient if we nipped this at the source, which seems to be your firm:

For your information here are the phone numbers of the callers I spoke with (plus one that was not listed at all)
866-722-6698 "AIG member company"
800-973-0379 "Education Bridge"
224-653-7000 "Colorado Technical Univ"

Thanks for pulling the plug on this."

They allowed me to put my name on a do not call list. Hope it works....

Agreed - when calling back the message mentions degree street. I do not think any members of my household would ever have contacted them, but then again, you never know...

They stated their name and that they worked for Degree Street. They are a "Head Hunting" firm for online colleges. I filled something out on the internet stating I was interested in obtaining an online degree. I had given my contact number and info on the Internet.
