they called me stating in a voice message that they've tried numerous times to call me to no avail for fraud. Recording claims my family is under fraud investigation.
I received three calls from this number 800-872-8625
. Last week it called my work phone and my cell phone. Today I figured that since the number called both my work and cell phone that perhaps I should answer it. When I answered it the woman on the other end immediately said she was with US Bank and first asked me to verify who I was... I verified my name however I am regretting doing so as I know I should not have done that. Then she immediately asked me to verify the last four of my social which I refused to do. I explained to this woman that I called US Bank last week and they had no record of anyone from US Bank reaching out to me. I explained to the woman that I would need to call US Bank back directly. She said that the customer service department uses a different system and it wouldn't have any info showing that I was being contacted. Regardless, I'm not giving my info to anyone that simply calls me.
Today I called US Bank customer service [800-872-8657
] again and reported the situation. US Bank claims that they don't need anything from me and that the number I told them was calling me was not theirs and they think it's fraud. I then asked to be transferred to the fraud department and they just told me the same thing. The woman on the phone in the fraud department didn't even ask for the number or even seem all too concerned.
Do people actually verify their systems work? After answering the call, I was looking up this number to see who it was, and after 30 seconds of dead air, it gave hold music for another 7 seconds. Then some guy answered and it hung up while he was doing his greeting. I do have a lease with US Bank, so I suspect they are trying to talk with me about the termination of our lease.
Do not give any information to someone who calls you from this number. You can call the official 1 800 number listed for US bank and they can tell you whatever you need to know. This is a fraudulent call.
This number is a official us bank collection number not sure what these people are talking about fraud all you have to do is call it and see smh
This is actually a US Bank number for their call center in Portland OR. If you get calls its because you have some type of banking matters loans lines or accounts. you can verify them by having your local branch call the number and having them verify the agent through the internal directory.
SCAM. block this #. On home phone go to menu then settings. Scroll till you see call block.hit "ADD" type in # then hit save. No more calls from that number! Most home phones you can add up to 30 numbers. Blocked caller will hear three beeps then it will disconnect them. You will get one ring then phone will display "call blocked".
Said it was us ban calling about my account. I don't have an account with them. Never have never will!! They asked for ss#. I told them I wouldn't give them that info on the phone and to send me the requested information by mail. They said they couldn't do that. Blocked their #. Called us bank headquarters, said they were aware, but didn't seem to be concerned. Maybe it's like the Wells Fargo scam. BEWARE! If they ask for you by name, Don't say Yes!
They have been calling often, I just got off the telephone with US Bank who confirmed this is a scam.
Same experience as mls. USBank has very recently changed some of their banking agreements as they pertain to monthly service charges. I had a dormant checking account that, beginning in August 2013, started getting hit with a $6.95 monthly service charges. I soon had a negative amount in my checking account, which was replenished with my line of credit, which I did not pay after one month. So the calls started from this number. So for some people, this is truly legitimate. It doesnt help that the caller is quite evasive which leads a peson to believe the callers are scammers.
I too thought this was not USBank but in fact it IS. I called US Bank through a real number to complain about this as SPAM but in fact this number is their past due department. I could not believe I had something past due but I did - an old business account that had a 0 balance and somehow was pulling from a line of credit to pay off a 200 withdrawal I somehow made inadvertently. Since then then have been calling me daily and it totally sounded bogus, they knew my business name but would quickly as for my Social! WHAT?
So the bottom line for me is that the number might be legit and from US BANK... but you should always CALL THEM, you never know who is actually calling you as they can spoof it. And there is no way we can tell it is legit or not when THEY call you. And most of them have a terrible approach. They don't explain well why they are calling up front.
This number calls several times a day and usually hangs up and calls a second time...no messages left.
BBB Alerts Consumers to Potential Bank Scam
The Better Business Bureau today issued a warning about phone messages allegedly originating with US Bank. The messages instruct consumers to call an 800 number because there has been an alert placed on their bank account.
Instead of a normal banking customer service system, which asks callers to walk through numeric or voice prompts to provide service, the phone number, 800-872-2625, tells callers they have reached US Bank and a customer service representative will be with them shortly and then connects callers with a person who identifies themselves as a representative of US Bank.
During a BBB test call to the 800 number, the representative refused to provide any information about what type of alerts or activity the initial message referred to unless specific account information was provided. When the BBB caller asked to speak with a supervisor, the alleged bank representative again refused unless specific account information was first provided even though the BBB caller explained the reasons for concern.
A subsequent call to US Bank customer service verified that there was no alert on the account in question and that their customer service department would have automatically allowed the caller to speak with a supervisor upon request. A call to the US Bank Fraud Alert department also confirmed that the 800 number, 800-872-2625, was not a US Bank number and that the call was a scam.
The phony call center number is a close variation of the real US Bank customer service number, 800-872-2657
, which could easily confuse customers into thinking it, is legitimate.
If you receive a text or phone message claiming to be from any bank or financial institution, the BBB advises you to immediately contact the customer service number on your banking card or statement
Per the internet when I type in this 800 # it comes up as beloning to US Bank located in Milwaukee, WI - I live in MN. Why would they be calling me at work???? Keep getting calls from a US Bank located in WA every weekend - calls, when the answering machine picks up they hang up & dial right back - will never answer a call from any #'s I don't recognise. If this is indeed US Bank, they can send me out a letter or notice in the mail & then I will go right into the bank to take care of whatever they are calling about - only have a mortgage with them anyway & if this is what they are calling about - may take my business somewhere else (credit union)
You actually CAN block 800 numbers from calling your house, without purchasing extra software. US Bank for instance, has an automatic dialer, that will call and leave messages on your answering machine, once every day, stating that they are "US Bank, and are calling about your account. Please call us back" etc. The phone number that was calling, was 1-800-872-2625
. I was receiving these messages a few months ago, because I hadn't made a payment towards my "line of credit". I have "call blocking" from Qwest on my phone line, and adding US Bank's number to the list, stopped their calls. They also mailed out a letter, stating that they were concerned that they hadn't heard from me yet. A legitimate company, isn't going to be "making up" a different phone number, to show on caller id. There is no way, that Chase Bank, is going to be calling people 20 times a day, not leaving any messages. The people at "800 Services", are obviously trying to collect legitimate phone numbers--by people answering their calls, in the same manner that email spammers, try to get you to respond to them--so they can verify your address.
Yes, this is really US Bank, I have had to deal with them several times since becoming unemployed. But they do like to harass even after you have made a payment or a promise to make a payment. They are jerks and don't really want to work with you at all!!!!!
got a call today from this number. It called my main home phone and then my home/office line. So I reported this to my branch bank. When I returned this call a recording asked me to input "my" account number. I zeroed out and got a live person who immediately asked for my account number, but also said they were US Bank. I informed the person they called me and would like to know why they called. They simply repeated that they were US Bank and needed my account number. When I persisted on knowing more about the caller identification they hung up. Smells like bad fish to me. I have accounts and a loan through the bank but IF it was late why had I not received a mailing letting me know that first? Especially since I was at my bank just a few days ago, had the teller look up my balance and no indication was given of any late obligations. Their is no way to verify this 800 number is owned by US Bank just because they answer that they are. I'd advise never ever give out that information when asked on a call. If they are legitimate they already know who you are and that information. This sends red flags up all over the place to me. Hope this helps.
James............a lying cover man for a telemarketing company.
Called Christmas Eve and Christmas day, as well as the day after Christmas. I do not own a credit card, nor owe any money for anything as I do not borrow money. The ignorant person on the line keeps asking for Betty. Reported them to the BBB.
DO NOT CALL ME AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!@!@#$%^%^&**^$#@!
Called and said USBank. Told him I would go to the bank and solve the issue to which he replied " I can save you the trip." This action repeated itself three times. Scam is written all over this one.
800-872-2625 Oct 30th, 2009
These people have been calling me for over 6 months. I don't have any type of account with US Bank and have had the same phone number for over 15 years.
If someone calls ME, they can dang well BE there when I answer. I don't have time for stupid computers and stupid scammer games. Hope the government goes after these jerks just like they've finally gone after the "auto warranty expiring" a*******. I agree with Pinky; just don't answer any calls (and I won't from now on!) that don't have the name come up - a dead giveaway they're not who they're gonna claim to be.
jingle bells Jun 17th, 2009
This place calls our work number every single day. It's never answered. Any company or person that cannot put their name on Caller ID doesn't deserve the courtesy of a reply. Plus it's just a scam anyway. James' "suggestion" to call them back is bull as well as his notion that "there must be a problem with your account". What a crock!! Just the usual scam artists trying to extort money.
U S Bank calling about credit line payment overdue
Confirmed Us Bank Early Stage Collections, not a third party. As a current US Bank employee I can clarify a few things. Usbank collections works off of an automated dialer. Calls are placed by computer then transferred to a person, sometimes this can take a while which explains why no answer when you pick up the phone, if you do not have time to wait just hang up and call back. If US Bank is calling you there is obviously a problem with your account. Legally Usbank can call from 8am to 9pm 7days a week. If called out of this time your area code must not match with current residence. Correction on caller ID note, since US Bank is not a third party the caller ID is not requred to be shown. There is no "do not call list" associated with this #. Solve the problem with US Bank and you wont be called.
Dont give these people any information.
This is a scam Jan 21st, 2009
Someone continues calling us but no one will be on the line. We are on the "no call" list but they keep calling.
Verified by who Ken?? I still dont think this is USbank and would warn anyone else out there to be very leary of calls from these people. When USbank calls my home it comes through on caller id as USbank when these people call it either jams by caller id signal or comes across as toll free call.
verified. 800 872 2625 is US BANK. As is 800-879-1397
. They have also started using an UNAVAILABLE ID number as well.

Got a call from "Tony" 615-308-3637

Go figure !
they wanted to know if we would like to make a payment today. We said we have not got the bill yet.
Reported to donotcall.gov
Called this morning, hung up. If it really is US Bank, they should that Federeal Law requires them to identify themselves on caller ID. If they do not, this is false identification and is a big no-no with the government.
damn, they can't wait for me to come in the bank and make my payment!
They left message with secratary, i called bank and a recording asked for my account number. I took this to US Bank and they said it's not them and they dont ever ask for your account number by a recording
