I have returned their calls as early as 3 pm during the workday just to get a recording telling me I have attempted to contact them after working hours. I owe these scum nothing, and my credit score is in the 780's. Disregard phone calls from these imbeciles, or if they continue to harass you and your family, report them to your county attorney; save the messages for the county attorney's office. I feel a class action suit in the making.

If you see this phone number on your call I.D., do not answer. These are crooks, identity theft scammers, posing as a collection agency. If you don't pick up the phone and talk to them, you can't have a problem. If they call you more than once, pick up, then hang up immediately. That gets the message across. These crooks know if they can't talk to you it doesn't make sense to keep calling. Identity theft crook, nothing more nothing less.
These people have been harassing my mother. I don't know how they got my name and my mother's number. Thank God other people are reporting them. When I called them they said there was some kind of Verizon account and they wanted my social security number. I have no accounts with Verizon either.
This company calls and won't even tell me what they are calling for until I give them husband social security number. I told them that I will not be giving out his social for anyone that will not identify themselves. The guy yells at me and says he just told me he is with DRS. My husband takes the phone and the guy asks him for his social, and that did NOT end well. The guy hung up on my husband. We both tried to call back a couple more times to find out what the nature of their business is. The woman I spoke to when I called, just yelled at me and said I was lying about the guy before her yelling and cursing at me. The guy my husband spoke to when he called wanted his social before telling him the business and when my husband said no, the guy hung up. I have read that this company is trying to get missing information from people to sell their identities. Please beware of anyone that calls you and won't tell you what they are calling for.

Walker, you've been on these database sites long enough to know it's not always that simple. Screening through Caller ID is not always possible if the display is nowhere near the user at the first ring, or the user has a vision impairment, or there are circumstances which make such screening unfeasible.
I had such a problem when I was the phone traffic manager for dozens of health care workers and other service providers during the weeks my mother was dying. Most of the calls were from mobile phones or dialed through dispatchers, and sent next to nothing for CID data. Because there was never time to waste, I had no choice but to suspend the house rules on call screening.
NightRaider, No one can ''get the message'' which you have not given. An autodialer is not capable of taking hints. It doesn't need coffee breaks or sick leave and it doesn't care how pissy you feel. If you want the calls to halt at the source, you have to actually make direct contact as I've discussed here prior.

If there is one mantra that should be posted at every site where people complain about spam phone calls, this is it:
Get Caller ID. If you don't recognize the name or number, don't answer the call. Simple.
Why are you people answering the phone at all? Can't you look at a toll free number or any long distance number and know immediately it's no one you do business with? I let my voice mail pick it up. After calling me a dozen times they move on to more fertile fields. If I am in a pissy mood, I will punch the green answer button, wait two seconds and press the red hang up button. After a few rounds like this they get the message and stop calling. It's no fun if they can't talk to a human being.
I have had several of these calls. My Caller ID says DRS Technology. Whee! Since I dont know anyone from that number or can get any info on that number, I let my Fax machine answer! Oh Goodie. Let them have fun with the screeching of my fax machine. Thats FUN!!!

Ace, you don't need a valid debt or a derogatory trade line on your credit reports to be hassled by debt collectors. They call third parties to alleged debtors all the time for permitted skip tracing purposes, or often pretending it's a trace to annoy and shame an intended target whose location is already known. I've already discussed an effective plan to end misfired collection calls six months ago.

at 3:30pm on 7/2/12. It was a recorded message from a person named Nancy Miller from BRS or DRS, not sure since it was pretty much mumbled. It did state before the beginning of her message "If this is (my name) press 1 and then paused for a second before leaving the recorded message from Nancy Miller stating she has been trying to contact me and has not been able to reach me so tell you what why don't you give me a call at 800-807-4106." It did repeat this a couple of times on my answering machine before ending. Really??? This is why I don't answer my landline...
These people call repeatedly and leave a number to call back.
When you call back they want your SSN!! Seems like a scam. Won't provide any information about the reason for the call and if you ask they will simply hang up.

SJ: Your DRS encounter was worse than realized. Historically, many otherwise lawbreaking debt collectors have shown a remarkable aversion to creating privacy violations. They won't dare breathe a wrong word to the wrong person, even if that means breaking other laws to keep a tight lid on account discussion. Such is the case here.
Your stubborn rep was required by federal law to give up a business name on demand, even if you've not identified yourself. Her gruff refusal denied you the means to exercise your FDCPA rights, and could be seen as abusive. A call pattern working out to an average of four per day would break my comfort zone and be painted as ''annoying or harassing'', per the FDCPA language. I would say you have the start of a decent lawsuit.

She hung up on me without providing the information. I have to assume that since they would not identify themselves they have no legitimate business. I did receive a call from another company last week who had a wrong number. She was kind enough to tell me that no reputable company, even a debt collection company, would refuse to even identify themselves.
Stevens: You can send your own demands to DRS this week rather than wait for your AG to open his mail. To both you and Jennifer and any ''not me'' case I always recommend putting the agency on notice, just as you would if you were the target and the debt claim was invalid. Send a cease-comm notice via USPS Certified with return card. The FTC and many consumer watchdogs explain how to draft one. This will set a legal landmine, as such a notice is ignored at their peril.
Jennifer: You're both right and wrong. The FTC makes two demands of third party collectors which are frequently in conflict. A collector must make ''meaningful disclosure'' of its identity yet respect the privacy of whoever is named on a debt account. If you get a skip trace call for a stranger, the rep is not required to name his employer until asked. That is the most you can be told without making the agency vulnerable to a lawsuit.

Started calling every few days a couple of weeks ago. Just lately they've started leaving the "Nancy Miller" message. I have a common last name, so I suspect they are just trolling everyone in the directory to see if they find who they're looking for. From what I understand of the debt collection laws, they've already violated the law by not stating upfront that they're a collection agency.

It's been several weeks since anyone hinted that I shill for the collections industry. Really now, my scthick in that case would be ''pay youse bills'' and ''you personally are wrecking our economy'' and ''all debtors are criminals'' and the rest of the usual false shaming.
You have this idea that DRS can't be punished and won't be stopped. It's too slippery and it wins every time, you say. That sounds a lot more like shilling, however unintended. I asked that you show me the proof of your assertions that DRS is somehow untouchable. I'm still waiting.
I say DRS has no special powers. It's another 'Buffalo Bully' using a shopworn industry playbook to extract money through fear. Bullies only have that power which victims grant them, as I said here ten months ago. If DRS doesn't concern you since installing some call blocker, why are you cursing them and bashing at your keyboard in all caps? Why carry any emotional response at all to an alternate course of action?
To your other point, a collection agency does not instantly win a lawsuit if it holds a valid claim. The consumer *lets* one win by playing ostrich and doing nothing useful to answer a summons, which is pretty much the story behind most of the debt cases on your civil court calendar. Counterclaims for bad collection practices can reduce or overwhelm whatever the claimed amount might be, and we haven't even discussed pulling a case into private arbitration, where the cost can devastate the corporate aggressor.
You don't have to listen to me ... Find the stories on Credit InfoCenter and Debtorboards from people who got serious about resisting debt industry abuses. Ask those collecting fat checks *from* lawbreaking collectors, many without setting foot away from home, if a more active approach was a waste of their time. Passive resistance, even if you think it ''wins'' something for you, permits the worst collectors to go on and dump the same abuses on others.
Just to be clear, this is not about waiting for a rescue from regulators. The FDCPA, FCRA and TCPA each grant private right of action. A natural person can name DRS or any other collection firm as a defendant, with or without a lawyer helping, and make the loser pay all legal costs. If a few hundred more people per year legally challenged each scofflaw agency, greater fear would swell in them than any FTC fine or attorney general's scolding has ever created.

SRK, I'm not trying to be ''scarry'', or scary, or misleading. You would not label me as such if you'd studied my several contributions here. Have you in fact taken DRS to court and lost? Can you find ample cases on PACER or Justia demonstrating that DRS wins all of the FDCPA suits filed against it? Ridicule and humiliation from a debt collector are not mere annoyances, they are illegal tactics which can render false debt claims cancelled and statutory payouts to the victims.

There are inherent problems with reflexively blocking and ignoring collection calls as SRK breathlessly advises:
- Sooner or later a determined collector could change numbers enough to overrun or bypass your system.
- You may miss opportunities for collectors to hand you violations to sue them over, which this agency seems willing to provide.
- If you can possibly be held liable for a debt claim, ignoring all contact is a great way to be named as Defendant in a lawsuit.
I'm not about to tell you to answer every call. It's your phone and your life. I am saying to closely monitor everything a shifty debt collector does. To be less cautious can be like leaving free money on the table.

After 2nd voicemail from DRS left on my office phone, I called "Nancy Miller" back at the 800 number they had left in their msg. A man answered, asked if this was the number for "Joann Raffa". I told him no, and he said he would remove my number from their call list.

I received a voicemailfrom this number and the lady stated that her name was "Nancy Miller from DRS" and to call 'HER' back. Called back and a man answered, I told him I wanted to talk to Nancy and he said it was a call center and she wasn't available. He then said he would help me so I restated that Nancy Miller had asked me to call her back and he told me that she was only a computer and I had to deal with him. The person they seek does not live here...think they moved tothe West coast 3 years ago. I will no answer it anymore. Bunch of morons. I will report the excessivbe calls to the State consumer protection agency.

Beth, debt collectors are not in sales, therefore exempt from Federal DNC. Thanks to Kulamoto and myself two months ago you have a street address and a pointer to educate yourself in how to use it.
This number keeps calling and leaving a message for someone I never heard of! When I call the number a female voice recording (with a very eastern US accent) tells me to hold on and never connects. how can i get it to stop!! i have my number in the DO NO CALL data base

Just a word on aliasing here .... Don't be fooled like "ABC" was back in April by any business name variants or DBA names. Debt collectors with dirtied hands rebrand and reidentify all the time as their reputations tarnish. I also suspect "Nancy Miller" is a house alias and not an actual employee. Take some time to review this thread and other DRS threads on this site, and the many complaints on other forums, and you'll see the bottomless pit of deception you face from this collector and dozens like it.

What a big man your first rep must feel like, Mrs. K. Like any bully, collection thugs only have that power which their victims give up. He is "in control" only so long as you fail to exercise your rights. You notice how he choked the moment he knew you were recording his antics. You were correct in that the worst collectors don't really care if the wrong person pays or the wrong amount is seized or the account itself is legally out of bounds.
If you're in a complaint filing mood, I would also send letters to your attorney general and that of the collector's home state, and to the FTC, which has Federal oversight and does prosecute bad actors every so often. Once you've helped others, you can help yourself as well through Federal law.
If you are receiving repeated, misdirected, and/or abusive calls from a third party debt collector, you may find relief in the provisions of the FDCPA, the Federal law which regulates collector behavior and provides you simple tools for your own defense. It grants you control of how you are contacted, and collectors can be sued for their crimes. Learn your rights and first response tactics at FTC-dot-gov. See also your state laws for additional support.

I received a call from a "Nancy Miller" from DRS. Before I spoke with anyone I had a rather tense conversation with a foreign man with an african type accent who informed me that "he was in control of this conversation and that I would listen to what he had to say". He demanded my social security number. I refused and informed him that I was recording this conversation, he then put me on hold. I spoke with 2 different people who gave me 2 different social security numbers, neither of which were mine.
I believe this company is a scam that uses intimidation to harrass people into paying money they do not owe. I will be reporting this company to the Governors Office of Consumer Affairs.
I have been receiving calls from this number for several days. When I try to call back the number is not in service. During my most recent call a women asked to speak to me. The name was correct and she stated that she was calling from Debt Recovery Solutions. I immediately informed her that I would be taping the call because I had done research on the company. With that she wished me a "good day" and hung up. I have now completed the complaint for to the NY Attorney General and will be submitting the form requesting that the company be investigated and appropriate criminal action be taken against them.
I have been receiving these calls....not directed to anyone person. I am very unstable on my feet and will be forwarding this tthe state attorney general.

I just got my first call from DRS, but after reading this, I wonder what I am in for
I have a few suggestions.
first to the lady who called the FBI and got the phone calls to stop, provide the info for the contact at the fbi, let all of us coordinate through the same channels to form a pathway to provide pressure to make this type of stuff stop.
I suggest each and every person who has this problem start contact each and everyone of these offices until they get the message and do something to stop this company. I also suggest you call and tell your story to local news directors in both New York and Ohio

make sure you create a news-worthy story the company is beign sued and investiagted by attorney general in two states, if you have spoken toa lawyer and at the very least file complaint with attorney general then this would be true to the best of your knowledge

maybe the first person who does this won't get the story done, but if more and more people do their part eventually we will make headway and the charges and news stories will follow, record any audio on phone calls that you can regardless if you can use it in court or not, the fact is it is not illegal to record a phone call, it is just not admissable in a court of law, the news media does this type fo stuff all the time, get the recordings to the news directors, send transcripts to the newspapers, proof of these rude and racist comments is what is going to get news media attention

This letter is to inform your office I notice that another company stated that I owed your office fifty five dollars. Therefore, I am writing this letter to dispute this item. First and foremost, I filed a complaint against your office April (2006). This letter went to the PUC Department of Texas (documentation can be provided).
Your letters respond that your company overcharged me for the use of services. I forward a check to your office for the entire balance (Community Bank of LA). There was not a past due on the account.
You company explain and apology to me due to the fact I was overcharged. But, I will be happy to get a lawyer to provide you letter and contact the PUC of Texas that also received your finally letter to me.
You have 5 to 10 business day to correct this information that your company sold to another firm.
As you know if any agency has provided incorrect information in regards to my credit I have a right to take legal action. Your company knowingly and willfully reported and furnished negative information that has hurt my credit.

just a follow up, I found the number to DEBT RECOVERY SOLUTIONS, LLC, which is a different number than this DRS TECHNOLOGY. I spoke with a representative there, who was sure to repeat to me that it is a debt collection agency, something they are required by law to tell you before discussing anything with you, also something this DRS TECHNOLOGY doesn't do. The agent informed me that they are not associated with DRS TECHNOLOGY, that their only name is DEBT RECOVERY SOLUTIONS, LLC. Just a heads up to everyone, also DRS TECHNOLOGY told me they were trying to reach my husband but would not give me any further info unless I "verified the last 4 of his ssn" Now I am not that stupid.. the last four may seem like nothing, but actually once you give out the last 4 it makes the rest of your ssn pretty easy to figure out. Once I refused to give out that information, the woman at DRS TECHNOLOGY became very rude and was no longer interested in speaking with me. She said my husband would have to call, which to me makes no sense because how are they going to verify that it's him, he won't give out any part of his ssn either! From my experience with this company I would say they definately seem to be a scam and stay far far away from them. Oh they also claim to have sent me correspondence in the mail, I have yet to ever receive anything from them. Debt Recovery Solutions, LLC has sent me mail, but never DRS TECHNOLOGY. I am working with Debt Recovery Solutions, LLC, but that is for an identity theft case, something completely different... Hoping that DRS TECHNOLOGY stops calling soon. I told them I was going to be contacting my attorney and that I had already reported their company.
THis number calls me constantly... but when I answer there is silence and then they hang up on me. I have tried calling back, but all I get is a total attitude from some lady that has a very heavy accent. I asked for the name of the company and what they do, but I was told unless I give my information she could not answer any questions. Nancy's calling for a nonexistent person. Tried explaining this to someone that refused to give me their name or a supervisor to talk to. Can't a bloodthirsty lawyer file a nice class action lawsuit against these rude people?

Yeah these guys have been calling me for awhile when i picked up the phone these idiots asked me for my social security number and when I didn't tell them it they hung up on me. I mean who does that really they think people are going to just giveout there identity to a bunch of complete strangers!!!! i suggest we do all the same and report them and file a suit against these guys because the calls will keep on coming...
I get 2 or more messages per day from this number (sometimes at the break of dawn and on weekends). Always stating that they have been trying to reach me and to call Nancy Miller with DRS. They never ask for me specifically It was after hours when I returned the call expecting to hear an office is closed type of recording, but the call was continually lost (from MY LANDLINE).
I am beyond sick of these people calling. Having just lost my husband the added stress of these idiots calling and not

This number is for a debt collection agency with numerous complaints, based out of Westchester, New York. Look them up on Manta.com for direct contact information. The are harassing me for an early termination fee I refuse to pay T-Mobile from back in 2004/2005 when I had no signal and switched cell phone companies.

. I believe they call themselves DRS and do nasty intimidating collection calls which is against the law. They are located at 900 Merchants Concourse, Suite 106, Westbury, NY 11590-5114.
I may file a complaint with my phone company. Everyone should do the same.
What are collection agencies not allowed to do?
As a result of the FDCPA, collectors cannot phone your home so often as to harass you. They cannot call before 8 A.M. or after 9 P.M. They cannot threaten you or use obscene language. They cannot call you directly if they know you are being represented by an attorney, and they cannot call you at work if they know your employer prohibits such calls.I have written a letter like the one above, but I am still being harassed. What can I do?Contact the Federal Trade Commission (www.ftc.gov) and register a formal complaint. If you can prove continued harassment, the collection agency is open to a lawsuit - one you could win if you have the proper documentation or proof. There have been several successful suits against collectors where the consumer won in court.

They keep calling about a sprint telephone bill that I don't owe. Never had a sprint cell phone. My next step it to take this to my lawyer because i am tired of their arrogancy...
I have been being harassed by this number for about 6 years now.. I called the number back and had a great time when I found out if you don't hang up, the calls go back to them every minute. They say hello, hello, and we just laughed and laughed. It was great fun to harrass the harrasser. They can't disconnect the call. We actually started playing the macarena off youtube for them since they're hispanic.

I did talk to one person who wanted my husbands ss# to give any info and I refused they got rude and hung up.. the the constant calling persists.. It has gone on for over 2 years now.. day after day and then skips a week or two and starts again. MOn- Sunday no differnt.. it drives me crazy.. now we just let it ring.. no answering machine.. just into oblivion.. Actually thinking about turning our phone off the same number we have had for over 20 years just to get away from the incessant calling. Shame.. Just a shame.. why are these people allowed to make calls when you have a "No Call" on telemarketers? Are they checking credit accounts?

I have received several calls from this number. When I returned the call, the person answering would not ideintfy the company. Searching the internet, I find DRS is a collection agency and they are very very nasty. I have a do- not-call registry number and intend to file a complaint. I would encourage all recievers of calls from this number to file to file complaints against this company.
recieved a call from someone and they asked for the last 4 of my ssn. I refused and asked the company name and was continually denied thier name. it sounds like a scam. Is there anything that can be done to stop this? I fear for the person who give the info and thier identity gets stolen.
A "Mr Santana" answered from DRS and wouldn't give me any information unless I gave him the last 4 digits of my social. He refused to identify the name of his company and the purpose of the call. He finally gave up and said ok m'am have a nice day after I continually refused to give him my social or my address. PLEASE, no one should be pressured to give away their personal information. They can contact you by certified mail if this were truly an urgent matter.
Has anybody reported them to the do not call registry?
