i work for verizon and someone just called me with this number stating they work with verizon. we had a talk and they did work for verizon . i think the number is real but maybe the spam fake calls are hiding their real number with this phone number.
1-17-2020 - Received a call from this number. The voice was male and was difficult to understand through his "sobbing." He said "Mom, I'm in the hospital." When I asked his name he replied "Michael." I told him I don't have a son named Michael and he hung up. Scam.
Claims calling from Verizon. Left voice mail to call back regarding mandatory upgrade to fiber. Interestingly, they call my cell number. Go figure
1-13-2020 - I just received the same call from this number saying it was my son. I kept asking who it was. After the second time, he hung up. Scam.
1-10-2020 - Received call from this number saying it was my son and he had been in a serious car accident and was in the hospital. He told me his voice sounded different because he had a broken nose. I asked a few identifying questions, which he cruised right over and did not answer. After my third question, the caller hung up on me. Afterwards, I called my son directly and he is fine. So this is obvious a scam call of some kind.

12-11-19: Just received this very creepy SPAM call... I answered, then there was a pause and then there was youthful male voice saying "Mom, Mom can you hear me I'm calling form the hospital". I hung on line a few seconds then there was a brief tone and call was disconnected.
I got text message and email today from this number asking me to pay past due bill in the amount of $306.00 I don't have any account with Verizon.

“No Collusion, No Obstruction, Complete and Total EXONERATION. KEEP AMERICA GREAT!”
—President Donald J. Trump
An explosive, whistle-blowing expose, Exonerated: The Failed Takedown of Donald Trump by the Swamp reveals how Deep State actors relied on a cynical plug-and-play template to manufacture the now-discredited Russiagate scandal. With the cutting analysis and insight he exhibited in his blockbuster bestseller Spygate: The Attempted Sabotage of Donald J. Trump, Fox News contributor Bongino exposes who masterminded the dangerous playbook to take down Trump, their motives, and how a plan filled with faked allegations backfired—forcing investigators to up the ante and hide their missteps and half-truths in a desperate effort to prove a collusion case that never happened. The result? The misguided multimillion Mueller investigation that tore the nation apart, tried to destabilize the presidency and led, as the world now knows, to nowhere!
Got a text out of the blue: "Hi it's Verizon. Your mobile number on your account has been updated. If you did not make this change, call 1.800.837.4966 for more info." I called from a non-home landline and it seems to go to the official Verizon message system but I cannot be sure if it's legit. I will log into my account to verify.

I was having trouble with internet issues and had scheduled tech support with Verizon. I got six calls from this number in less than 20 minutes, but Truecaller had them listed as a spam number, so I didn't answer. After reading here, I went ahead and blocked them.
Something strange going on here---I was working with Verizon on an account issue and then this number does a single ring to me. Is someone within Verizon leaking this info? Is it a hack?
I had a problem with a verizon account yesterday. This is the number I called for help. Since that time they have called me back 6 times in the last 15 hours. I am blocking it. It may be customer service calling to verify the issue was corrected, but after reading all of the below info, it may be a scheme using the spoofed number. In any even, I am blocking it. Problem solved.
Just installed FIOS today and this number has called my phone three times today. They know I am with Verizon, and they got my contact phone number immediately. Not good.
They knew my name and before I responded said “are you deaf or dumb bitch?” Then hung up.
This number just called and left a voicemail on my husband's phone stating that our Verizon account had been suspended. It was not Verizon because my account is just fine. Blocked the number.
7/18/19 - they have called multiple times. Did a google search and found this information. Blocked the number.

A man with a heavy Indian accent claimed to be David Smith from Verizon. He said I have a problem with security on my computer. I replied I don't have Verizon! He wanted me to download something called Ultraviewer so that I could see I had security issues! He said they owe me $200 and needed to verify information. That's when I hung up. SCAM SCAM SCAM
This number is now saying they are with Microsoft, and needed to charge us $299 for not sure what. It started as a robo-call, when my mother answered it a man started talking really fast. She told him if he charged her account (she didn't give him any information) she'd sue him. He called her a f***king b**ch and hung up.
Calls and rings twice and hangs up. Irritating.
Annoying keeps calling doesn’t leave a message.

Just missed a call from this number. Showed up as Verizon on my Caller ID. I don't have Verizon as a provider, so enough said.
WARNING - new scam
Just received a phone call from +18008374966 where they claimed to be from Verizon. They said that there's a rebrand happening, and they'll be placing a $99 credit on the account. They asked for the name and number of the account, and I said if they were actually Verizon, that they would know that information. They said it's for confirmation, I said that they called me so I shouldn't have to confirm it. They gave a disgusted sigh and hung up.
Reported this information to Verizon where they verified it's a scam, and reported the number as spam on the default Android Dialer app. Soon, I'll talk to Google to tell them to remove the "Verizon" name that shows up when this company calls you.
DO NOT BELIEVE THIS SCAM. I'd think that this isn't something Verizon would call for, that they'd email the account owner instead. Also, there has been no news about a Verizon rebrand. Also, why would they put credits on peoples' accounts because of the rebrand?
Just thought I'd warn you guys, since this seems like a new scam that I've Never heard of before.
Lastly, just a tip: if a company calls you, let them know that you will call them back in a minute to confirm that this is legitimate. If they're reluctant to let you do this, that's how you know it's a scam.

Just got a call from this number. Sounded Asian. Said I had a purchase charged to my account. Asked me if I had something to write with. I replied I don't even believe you work for Verizon and he immediately hung up.
I've done all that.
This always happened, I feel like Verizon lock it up all the time, coz when I go to Verizon store everytime i can't call, there is a button that they press, and all of a sudden if and when I try to call Philippines it works right away.
This happened 3 times already, and I dont call Philippines a lot, only on important times, and some random days I call it does not work
I've been trying to call Philippines and it won't let let me and it's part of my plan
called about fraudulent purchase of an Iphone X. Sent me a Verizon text to read back number to them over phone. DON'T DO IT. It's a scam.

So this is the number that called me and it was a legit call from Verizon.
Recording stating my Verizon wireless account has been suspended press 1 to activate your account press 2 to speak to a customer service rep, I chose 2 and it hung up on me.

This number keeps calling. Comes up as a Verizon Wireless number. They do not leave messages, just keep calling aussing someone will pick up.
Just called me and it was a lady with a thick foreign accent saying she was calling from Verizon. I heard many people in the background also on phone calls which is usually very common when I get scammer calls from Nigeria and other countries. I Googled the number and it did list it as a Verizon number however I believe whoever was calling was a scammer and they just put in a Verizon number into the caller ID. Definitely a scam, don't believe anyone if they call you with a thick accent!
A guy speaking Spanish, repeated my name that I answered my phone with and hung up.
Received call claiming to be from Verizon, thick accent saying I had a $99 rebate needed to
verify my identity. They are the one calling me and need me to verify my name, number and pin to make sure I get the
rebate ??? when I would not give PIN became angry with me definitely not a Verizon representative.

I have received scam calls from both this number as well as from Verizon’s other main number, 800-922-0204
. Be aware, scammers can spoof these numbers to lead you to believe that you are actually receiving calls from a legitimate Verizon rep. I’ve reported to Verizon. If you receive a call from someone who claims to be from Verizon, offering you a rebate and requesting that you provide your personal information, hang up immediately; this is a scam.

This number just called saying they are from Verizon and told me they will credit $99 to my account. They asked for my pin or the last for of my social security number. Its a scam - they don't have an identifying agent number and when the caller transferred me to their supervisor, the supervisor was right next to them. What? Super scam, heavy accent, not very professional - dead giveaway.

A man with a very heavy Indian accent told me he was from Verizon and I was entitled to a $99 credit for being such a longtime customer (I've been with Verizon for 2 months!). Then he proceeded to ask me for my account number and pin. When I questioned why he needed both numbers, he hung up on me. I called Verizon customer service and they said they've had numerous calls regarding the same number...it's a scam!
Claimed he was from Verizon, had a very heavy Indian accent. He told me I qualified for a $99 rebate, I just needed to verify some information. I said that if he was really from Verizon he would have known that I am not the primary account holder. He told me it was the wrong number and hung up.

I just received a call from this number same experience as below when the Asian speaking person said he was with Verizon and was trying to offer me 99.00 credit off of my internet account because I've been a customer for so long. I have never had Verizon internet account however he needed to verify my personal information before proceeding. NOT in this lifetime. I hung up and reported it to Verizon
Called just after 8am on a Wednesday. Scammers usually don’t call me this early. Caller-ID said Verizon. Let it go to machine. Left no message.
Fraud alert!! This is not a Verizon number. Block this number and report a scam. When I asked the caller where exactly are you calling from because I am sitting at a Verizon location right now. He got upset and said to me, "I don't know what the hell you're asking me. Bi**#! Then hung up.

We are receiving calls from this number every 20 minutes with a recording saying something about our internet service. We have nothing to do with Verizon. Spoke to someone at Verizon who sounded surprised. He said he would have their engineer look into it. Since calling still received 2 more calls within the hour.
Creepy person called using this number and left voicemail saying, "I love you" and using my first name.
Verizon. Left me a message as a follow-up to a call I had made to them a week ago. I lost Internet service, and called to get it fixed. According to the message, this call was a follow-up to make sure my issue had been resolved.
It’s not a scam are you all serious? I called Verizon customer service and we got disconnected and the same guy called me back from this number.
I got a call from this number. Indian guy said he was calling from Verizon about my bill. I said really? What call center do you work at? He said Verizon. I said which call center location? I work for Verizon Security and want to call your boss on our internal network. He immediately hung up on me.
Supposedly someone from New Mexico was attempting to login into our account. Called back to Verizon's real support phone number, and they have no record about this.
This is a robo call. I have a phone that asks the caller to press a number and then say their name, and if they do not comply the call is disconnected. If it is a real Verizon number, the company will have to have a real person call me and either be answered, go to recorder or voicemail. I never get spam calls with this phone and my phone never rings unless it is a legitimate caller. Too many spoofed numbers in addition to real numbers and names (company names) that are used by scammers. You would think that by now service providers would be able to block calls not coming from real numbers or prevent spoofed numbers altogether.

Their new Verizon related spoof is that they are updating he platform overnight and you may experience some delays with calls and messages. And if they don’t confirm with you your cell phone might not work after the changeover. The guy said I could confirm his identity at any Verizon store and gave me some kind of ID number. When I said hold on and was silent for a second so I could google this supposed update he hung up on me.

just happened to me - Caller ID said Verizon - person called, had an accent, said i have a credit - long story short when I asked if i could call them back - they hung up - The number WAS a VERIZON number - when I called back it WAS Verizon - be careful people these people are the lowest of low -
Lady with Indian accent called and said I overpaid by $29 and it was Verizon's mistake. Did I want it on my Visa, checking account or on my bill? I said put it on my bill but 1st I need to know EXACTLY what the $29 was charged for. She just kept saying it was a mistake on their part. Knowing that a company would have to tell you what they overcharged you for, I kept pushing. She finally hung up. Why do they even try?
Scam. Caller offered rebates for being a good customer. I checked with Verizon, and they indicated this was a scam and blocked this number for me.
A scammer called me, telling me that I overpaid my Verizon bill and was due a credit. They asked me to verify my pin and address. It was an Indian accent. I didn’t give them any info but they still managed to hack into my Verizon account and placed an order. Thank goodness for their new system that helps to detect these fraudulent charges.
This is a real Verizon number but it's A scammer is spoofing the Verizon phone number. 1st call they offered to take $100.00 off my bill for being a loyal customer then the guy asked me for my name. I told him if he was actually from Verizon then he already had my info, the guy got mad and used some Vulgar language, and I hung up on him.
