This breathy woman claims to be nancy miller and she says she has called before. Although my credit is impeccable, my bills are all paid, and I answer my phone all the time. This automation wont stop calling me. I will not call the number back as I dont know who it is.

Ms. Taylor, ''they will not stop'' because you persist in making verbal demands. It's the policy of lawbreaking debt collectors across the industry to assume you are a liar until you give an answer which gets one paid. Again, get off the phone and get on a paper trail, as I have explained here eleven months ago.

''Nancy Miller'' is noted hundreds of times in this thread, and the acronym is indeed DRS, reportedly for Debt Recovery Solutions. ''Nancy'' is likely a house alias belonging to no actual person. What you heard was a ''Foti message'', a tiptoe around the need to maintain an alleged debtor's privacy while trying to coax that person (ostensibly) from hiding.

I received a call from a Toll Free number of 800-851-9631 at 3:30pm on 7/2/12. It was a recorded message from a person named Nancy Miller from BRS or DRS, not sure since it was pretty much mumbled. It did state before the beginning of her message "If this is (my name) press 1 and then paused for a second before leaving the recorded message from Nancy Miller stating she has been trying to contact me and has not been able to reach me so tell you what why don't you give me a call at 800-807-4106." It did repeat this a couple of times on my answering machine before ending. Really??? This is why I don't answer my landline...

Ms. Zink, your caller is not going to dutifully study random forum complaints and cannot magically determine which numbers should not be called based on anonymous comments. Your parent (or guardian) should be able to revoke call permission on your behalf. My comment from Sep 2011 explains more.

30 calls a week from this number. Even when I answer I get a recorded message from "Nancy Miller" saying she has been "trying to reach me" and asking me to call her back at 800-807-4106. I finally called that number tonight and asked what the name of the company was, but the operator refused to answer the question. "You called us - don't you know who you called?". She hung up on me without providing the information. I have to assume that since they would not identify themselves they have no legitimate business. I did receive a call from another company last week who had a wrong number. She was kind enough to tell me that no reputable company, even a debt collection company, would refuse to even identify themselves.

Julie: You don't need a valid debt or a derogatory trade line on your credit reports to be hassled by debt collectors. They call third parties to alleged debtors all the time for permitted skip tracing purposes, or often pretending it's a trace to annoy and shame an intended target whose location is already known. Runaway skip tracing is arguably the most common problem the debt industry creates.

You are unlikely to find any ''convenience'' in their phone system. High volume debt collectors are notoriously deaf to verbal requests. Third parties to the alleged debtor like yourself don't get a lot of coverage by FDCPA, but it does say ''any person'' cannot be abused or misled by a collector.

To a ''not me'' case I always recommend putting the agency on notice, just as you would if you were the target and the debt claim was invalid. Send a cease-comm notice via USPS Certified with return card. The FTC and many consumer watchdogs explain how to draft one. This will set a legal landmine, as such a notice is ignored at their peril. This can also help pull the agency under the shadow of TCPA, which carries treble damages for ''willful'' violation.

"Nancy Miller" DRS. Recording even when I picked up the phone "I have been trying to reach you".... there is no reason for me to receive a call like this. I don't have any past due accounts for them to be sent to a debt collection agency. When you call the number back, it goes straight to a voice messaging center 'for my convenience'!!!
Julie
 Sep 24th, 2011
Really now ... commit fraud on classified ad sites just to rickroll a collector? How juvenile. DRS has a ROOM full of phones to your one or two lines. Even supposing the unlikely goal is made, that their commercial telco account is successfully swamped in a service denial attack, all the pit boss has to do is order everyone to use personal phones and get back to work straight away. Heck, it would work in their favor, all those strange numbers confusing you all in CID, which is exactly why occasionally a collections rep will VOLUNTARILY use a personal phone to perform skip tracing.

The FTC makes two demands of third party collectors which are sometimes in conflict. A collector must make "meaningful disclosure" of its identity yet respect the privacy of whoever is named on a debt account. Some agency callers are shy with the names, thinking the mere hint of collection activity is enough to trigger a lawsuit. Thus, being selectively marble-mouthed in phone messages is straight from the collector's playbook. This forced ambiguity is skewed to their advantage, calculated to worry you enough to return the call.

Great Idea Brian: The best way to get rid of these is to go on Craig's List and other free ad posting sites, place a bunch of adds selling stuff really cheap or even giving away tools and stuff that would generate a lot of responses to the add, Use the (800) number and give that Nancy Miller's name. they will get flooded with calls and Clog up their phone system, cost them Money and use up the (800) minutes that they have to pay for... then they are forced to shut that number down and get another.. at least you got to slow them down and cost them something. of course legally I am not telling you to post fraudulent adds nor have I ever done that.. ha ha.. but it just a hypothetical idea ;)

Yeah, let 'em blacken your credit report if they want, NavyVet. It will just add a FCRA violation to your case against them. Employee name aliasing is not uncommon in the collection game, and also in other firms with a fraudulent business model. I recall a sham dating site which used "Lisa" as a customer service contact. All the calls and emails to "Lisa" would go to whoever was available, and the drones would laugh every day at the complaints lodged against the phantom rep.

I recently recieved a call from this same "Nancy Miller" of DRS. She must be a voice actress, i do not believe Nancy Miller as the DRS representative she claims to be actually exists. I have called back twice this week asking for her only to be redirected to another employee who then informs me "I'll actually be handling your case." The 2 DRS employees I have spoken with get increasingly more rude as the conversation progresses. As it was in the first place, DRS had no business in the first place "buying" the alleged debt as it was settled 2 years ago. DRS then threatens me by telling me that they are going to report me to the credit bureau if I don't pay. This is extortion!

I'm not sure if it's sad or fascinating that in 4.2 years of damning reports on this collector, a grand total of two entries mention the one thing which could have helped most everyone who has posted to this thread. What's more sad is that one helpful thing has been around for 33 years. It's Federal law from the FTC, a restraint on bad collector behavior called the FDCPA. Learn your rights at FTC-dot-gov.

There is some disinformation among these entries which a few minutes of study should clear out. This is my skinny:

If you are receiving misdirected or abusive calls from a third party debt collector, the FDCPA provides a private right of action. It grants you control of how you are contacted, and collectors can be sued for their crimes. You may however soon find that your verbal demands to limit or cease communication, as allowed by the FDCPA, are often ignored. You will have to place the discussion on a paper trail to enforce regulatory compliance.

For the umpteenth time, the DNC registry is for telemarketers, meaning sales. Charities, debt collectors, political speech, and surveyors are all exempt as they are not included in the FTC definition of "telemarketing". This was made known to you when you registered your numbers.

As for good places to complain, start with the FTC itself, which periodically files suit against or shuts down the worst collectors if there is a sufficient critical mass of public outcry. Also try the Attorney General in the home state of the agency or debt lawyer. AG Swanson and Cuomo, respectively of Minnesota and New York, have set particularly good examples of what the law can do when you put the right tiger in the arena.

A couple of repeat entries here foolishly suggest complaining to ACA International, the collections lobby group with the high 'n' mighty attitude. They have been dedicated in the past few years to efforts to eviscerate regulation and make financial rape as close to legal as they can, as well as doing PR damage control every time one of its members or kin is exposed as a runaway menace.

Find archive stories on Tobias "Bags of Money" Boyland for a chillingly typical example of the thuggery within the industry culture, and the very happy ending of his whole crew punching out of work for the last time while handcuffed. When the calls come, answer no questions and make no deals. Get an address and make them dun you on paper as the law demands. As a rule of thumb, the more the collector resists and becomes hostile, the less proof there is of the debt account claim. Stay safe ....

This is a "bottom feeder" debt collection company. They buy debt for pennies and try to collect. In my case they are trying to find someone with the same name. This debt has been sold over and over, and each time it is, I get these calls from one of these jerks. I have lived in my home for 20 years and the person they are looking for has never(by their own data)lived in my town. There is no law that prevents this type of call.

Similar to all others, Nancy Miller, DRS, sorry we have been missing you.
After about two weeks of receiving these randomly, I geared up for a battle, had my Mass Attorney General information ready to drop on them, pen in hand, etc.
My call was promptly answered. Mr. Jimenezy was relatively polite. Asked me my name, I responded with you have my phone number. He tossed a name at me that I have never heard of. I said so. He said he'd put a stop call on my number and it should be active in 48 hours. Reasonably pleasant.

I do believe they are a collection agency, how polite or persistant they are may depend on how solid they feel their information is.

Apparently this is a debt collector. So I'm not sure why they are calling a ton of people and asking for SS#. I made a comment about the phone message that is being received and she told me that it is an automatic message and not a real person (REALLY?!?!?!) and I told her that I couldn't imagine that she was getting too many calls back with them not giving out business information. She was very rude and unpersonable. Hmmm maybe they don't know that you don't need to pay some things back. For instance, when I was buying a house in GA, I was told to NOT pay anything that was older than 6 months because it would make my credit score go down before it went up. Anyway... now you all know that the number is for.

I never called back because "Nancy Miller" mumbled the initials of the "company" (I didn't know if they were DLS, DRS, DNS, ENS, EMS, or anything else). called back and asked to be removed from the system and the guy was actually very nice. I explained no one by that named uses this phone number.

sounds like they are doing 3 things in violation of the current laws
1. using a computer to call and not having a person at the other end
2. calling a lot.

hopefully this will end it for me

I received a call from Nancy Miller today on my work phone. If she calls back, I am going to file a complaint with our state's Attorney General's office as well as contacting local investigative reporters with various news agencies to see if they have done stories on these people. When reporters do "pieces" on these kind of complaints, you usually see results because the harassers have been made public.

After getting many annoying calls from the Nancy Miller Robot, I called 800-807-4106. After waiting a while I was connected to a guy who was not unpleasant but totally not forthcoming about who he was or what business he worked for. He asked for "Dan Rudy," who I never heard of. He would not say what organization he was with or why they were calling except to say, "They are looking for Dan Rudy." He did promise to remove my phone number from the list "within 48 hours." He obviously had caller ID since he repeated the last four digits of my number to me and didn't ask for the number I was calling from. I hope they go away.

These jerks keep leaving messages on my answering machine so I finally called them back. I asked the guy who they were and what they wanted and he said...What number did we call? I said "who are you?" he said "we represent many companies" I said "what do you do for those companies?" he said "WHAT is your phone number?" I said "What do you want?" He said "WHAT IS YOUR PHONE NUMBER??" "WHAT IS YOUR PHONE NUMBER?" "WHAT IS YOUR PHONE NUMBER?" (VERY RUDE AND HATEFUL TONE, ALMOST YELLING) I hung up on his "English as a SECOND language" ass! I see people are saying they are some kind of debt collectors but I'm not behind on any bills. This is probably the most Rude encounter I've ever had over the phone. If they call back I will answer, I'll tell them someone is at my door and ask them to hold on. I will then let my very loud dog bark into the receiver along with blaring music until they hang up! Maybe they'll get the hint not to call back.

We've been getting messages from Nancy Miller several times a day for several months now. Never anything about WHY she's calling, just a number to call them back. I finally did today, and it was Nancy saying I'd reached DRS and to please wait on the line to be connected. A guy answered after a minute and I told him I just wanted to find out what the calls were for. He asked for the number they were calling, and I gave it to them. I mean, they obviously already have it, or they would call. He was like, "woah, there's three names associated with this number" Juan Something, Miguel Ruiz and Bryan Swan. My house used to be a rental, and we still get mail for the first two, so I guess it makes sense now. He said he would get our number off the list, and that it would probably take about a week. He was very nice and professional. I guess I was lucky. :)

i've been getting calls from these people for weeks. i thought it was for a dating service or something and was getting irritated with my husbands co-workers who pull pranks like this all the time. today the call was different though. first a recording came on asking for such and such person and then the weirdo dating service type message came on with some chick named nancy miller talking. finally today i called back and some guy answered asking for my phone number. he asked if i was such and such and i told him no and asked if this was a dating service b/c of the type of message i got on my voice mail. he laughed and said no and then said that he would remove my number from the phone list. not sure that will happen since i decided to look up the 1800 # and found this website stating these people are debt collectors. it doesn't matter how many times you tell them that they have the wrong number, they will never stop calling. ugh. best thing i can suggest to everyone is change your number or get that service through your phone company where you can accept or decline phone calls before you actually talk to the person who is calling you. i don't remember what its called but i guess i will have to order it. :o(

I spoke to Nancy Miller tried to explain to her that I had made arrangments to make payments once a month, and had made one payment already by check she denied that I had paid anything. She wanted me to make new arrangments but not give me credit for what I had paid in the amount of $100.00 the month before. She stated they did not take payments by checks. I asked what about my $100.00 I had paid, she denied I paid it at all and wanted to know if I wanted to make a payment but it had to be by credit card so they could automaticly charge a payment every month. I said don't give anyone the right to do that. She asked when could I pay the bill in full, I said in a couple months, Nancy said that it was not exceptable, she got very hatefull with me and told me that I just didn't want to pay my bill at all, and hung up on me. I feel this is very unperfeshnal on her part and if she can not deal with people any better than that, then she dose not need to be working anywhere that she would have to have contact with the public!

I have gotten 7 phone calls in less than 48 hrs from "out of area" This must be debt collectors new way of preventing an individual from blocking the call. starr 77 does not block this call. I tried to trace it and I might have waited too long because the message said tracing could not be completed. They leave no message. I answered it today and I said nothing not even hello. I waited to see if they would say anything and a woman spoke my name then dead silence and she hung up.- Last night I picked up and told them I was tracing the call and they had better stop or I would sue. 1. It is against the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act for a debt collector to harrass you. 2. They can be sued 10,000 per phone call if they continue to harras after you have informed them to stop. 3. They must tell you who they are, what they want what the call is in reference to, and they must put everything in writing. Look up the FDCPA and read it. It will save you a lot of hassle and it will also inform the predcatory debt collection agencies that YOU KNOW THE LAW!

When i clled this number i got a pugnacious black girl that when i asked what it was in reference to she said i was a nasty mean person and call back when i had a better attitude, when i did she played phone games and hit a ringing buzz sound and hung up...i tried 3 times and she did the same thing so they have caller id...when i called the 4th time with a blocked number (*67) she answered hello and i hit the ringing noise and i hung up. I have now blocked this number.

We have been terrorized by the Schwartz Brother Pedophiles over the last year for someone we don't know nor lives here. These things could care less and keeps calling day and night. This past week, we came home and found on our answering machine 18 calls from our local power company needing to speak with us ASAP about our service. The answering machine calls gave the correct power company name we use but the caller ID showed "Not Provided" under the 800 number. Anyway, we called it and guess what, it wasn't our power company but the Schwartz Brother's Terrorist Organization known as DRS. We then actually called the REAL power company and told them what this Terrorist organization was doing and they were extremely interested. They sent an agent of theirs to our home to get a copy of the messages and our written autorization for them to get our incoming call records for the week. They are going after these Terrorist Pedophiles.

If a multi state power conglomerate can't have these terrorist pedophiles put away then we every day victims of this trash don't have a hope unless we pay these bastards a personal visit at the offices I see listed in all these terrorist accounts written on here and other places on the internet.

Its time to stamp out Terrorism in America!

I have only received one call and It looks like I might get more, after reading some of the messages. I found out about the call when I went to call some one and my phone beeped that I have a message, It was from DRS and the girl said Nancy Miller. I thought the phone call was weird didn't say a name for whom the message was for and I didn't like the way she sounded. I googled the number and came across this glad I did. I donot plan on calling them back But they better not harass me either.

They won't stop calling. Ever. Collection agencies use the last set of phone numbers on file for an individual they are after. Because they deal with dead-beats and liars, they automatically assume you are lying and either are the person they are looking for or know the person. There really is no recourse except to get caller ID and not answer (or if as in my case it's a cell phone they are calling, add the number such that it's custom ring is "none").

Worse news is that when they are done with the number, someone else will pick-up the account and it starts all over again..... the people calling get paid on recovery. They won't stop calling period.

Warning to everyone being called by this number!
It may not be the actual company that is calling you, especially if they are asking for SSN's

http://www.wired.com/politics/law/news/2008/02/blind_hacker

I know that's a really long article, but it's worth reading. You may have heard of "Phone Phreaking," but people can hack telephone lines, get phone number databases, and manipulate caller ID numbers in order to pose as fake companies and potentially get information from you. (A clearer description of what phone phreaking is starts about halfway through the first page of the article)

Recorded message from "Nancy Miller" wanted to recover a debt from Vivian Simmons. I have no idea who Vivian is, but three years ago I got her old phone number. Her husband's name is apparently Brian, and they never paid their bills. I'm sick of getting calls demanding that I pay their debts. When I called DRS back, a Mr.Joseph assured me my number would be removed from their system, but two hours later, I got another call.

I think these people are part of an ID theft ring. They pose as a collection agency and pump you for information to get you to prove you are NOT who they are after. You don't know what piece of your ID profile is missing. Anything you give them could allow them to complete the puzzle and steal your identity and sell it.

Why do you think it is that so many posts here say that the person they are after doesn't live there? It's because the calls have nothing to do with debt collection. The calls are random and odds are, a certain percentage of people will try to convince them that they are not the target and give them ID information to prove it. Probably works pretty well for them.

It's a Phishing scam. They don't follow the laws because they are criminals.

Do not give them any information and report them to the authorities.

Unfortunately the authorities are overwhelmed and can't battle these things so we have to protect ourselves. Don't fall for it.

This is a collection agency which utilizes an automated and not-so-sophisticated dialer. Their system calls me every Saturday and Sunday, looking for "anyone" whose first name is Kimberly. I have begun recording the calls and am building a case against them. Their actions constitute harassment. Their personnel are less than polite.

I used a website called jajah.com and had one of their numbers listed in a previous post on this page call the Nancy Miller number. I think a few hundred more times of them calling themselves ought to get their blood boiling. Otherwise I just never answer. ANYONE who cannot state their business on my voice mail never gets a call back.

We have been receiving calls on our business line every 30 minutes for the past week. This morning, Sunday, they began at 8 am! We assume this is for "Shannon or Terry" as we received a series of calls for these names in the week leading to the barrage of automated calls. This is a business, and all calls occur after hours and weekends, when normal business is not in operation. An since there is no one here to take their call, nor is there anyone there to take the return call, it serves no purpose, other than blatant harassment. How can we make them stop? How do we make them understand that they have the WRONG NUMBER!!!???
Seriously...

Received messages on my caller ID from this number, then received 2 voice messages from Nancy Miller at DRS, saying it was urgent she speak to me. Searched this number and found this site. Will not call back and will use my phone number blocking service.

I don't know who these people are calling for, I just keep getting the same recorded message on my answering machine. In fact, my machine always cuts them off. Oh well. I have had this phone number for 6 months now, and they have called me just about every single day. Even on weekends! I also think they have called me more then once a day, but I'm not sure. I too am on the national do not call list, but still no results, though I think I have registered twice since having this new phone number. I found this site after doing a search on the phone number. They have called me early in the morning, and late at night like 8:50 PM. I am usually out, and am very busy, so they get the answering machine even if I wasnt trying to ignore them. But can't they be fined for harrassment? Sheesh!

Called two nights in a row, incensantly. Told them I had never heard of the person they are looking for, then recieved numerous recorded messages requesting I call them back. They do not answer. I have to get some sleep, these people are insane and apparently very stupid for the fact that they KNOW they have the wrong number, yet keep calling.... I looked them up in a google search, Found many law suits against them for harassment. I am reporting them to the Better Business Bureau, the Attorney Generals Office, and if need be, will speak with my congressman. There are strict laws against harassment of this kind.

Same deal: 1.800.807.4106. Called 3x today. No one there when I answered twice. Left a voicemail when I ignored the 3rd call. "Nancy Miller" sounded like a porn star & requested a c/b at that number. I am guessing debt recovery solutions.

They keep calling even though we have told them over and over that the person they are trying to find does not live here and that we do not even know this person. I asked the extremely foul mouthed woman on the other end why they refuse to take us off their call list and she said that if all us 'White Trash' would pay our bills then we would not get calls and then she hung up on me....Again.

These people are foul Racists and should be avoided at all costs and reported to whoever gives a damned which I have no idea who because it seems from all these messages on here, the law could care less that these DRS Racists are terrorizing innocent American Citizens.

If the NAACP is out there to keep us 'White Trash' from terrorizing blacks then who is out there to protect us 'White Trash' from DRS Raciest Blacks?

I have received calls for over a year now 3 or 4 times a day. I answered the first call and they wanted the last 4 digits of my social security number. I refused to give it to them and they became hostile saying that I must do this. I insisted that I would not and told them not to call me again. I have excellent credit and owe no bills so am not concerned. I just don't answer the phone anymore since I have caller ID so they are wasting their time but it is annoying.

We too have received multiple calls from them every day. When I called them back this Nancy Miller was extremely rude. I asked what it was about she just said a debt we owe. I advised her that we have asked Sprint to send us paperwork showing my husband (wasn't my husband @ the time acct was opened)-opened the acct or ever lived at the address on the acct-they can't. She then started talking Sh*t to me about us having no $$ blah blah..I have filed a report with the BBB, Attorney General & FCC for harassment & refusal to prove this account belonged to my current husband. He has told them several times it was opened by an x-girlfriend. I advised the BBB, Attorney General & FCC that this company will not be getting any $$ until they can prove this is our account to pay. Now when we see the phn # we just pick up and hang up.They seem to have a pattern of harassment. I am curious how they continue to get away with it.
