yeah i got a call from a completely unknown number ( 000-000-0000).....low and behold it was a guy named sean who told me that they have been experiencing problems with tons of there magazine subscribers and alot of magazines were put on hold.....and me not thinking i thought it was another magazine company i had subscribed to that i thought was actually getting back to me about the magazines that i never got for about nine months that i paid for, but due to the fact that i was already past my cancel date i couldnt cancel and i really wanted my mags....but as i listened even more to what he was saying, i realized it was a different magazine company treasure coast readers. I asked him if my name and number was collected off of some database such as websites where they give you free horiscopes daily, or win this or that for free because i seldomly do fill those out. But when he started to give me my info my name ,DoB,address and such i was like " look i dont know how you got my info but since the magazines are already on back order , im going through the same thing with another company and told him i just wanted to cancel he gave me a 1-866-608-9254 at first and when i wanted to make sure i had the right number he told me 1-866-608-9354. and the next day i called and i think it was a fax number he gave me because it didnt even ring , it was doing the sound you get when you have one phone line and you forgot tot turn the fax machine off sound. So i called my card carrier and said i lost my card and they sent me a new one within 7-10 bussiness days. But i have tried to do the same thing as everyone else by calling the state att. gen office, the BBB, and my personal lawyer( a good friend from high school). But the best thing to do is to just change your card info and phone number it will at least slow the constant calling. Also be aware of the people who call with jamaican accents saying that they work for the mega millions out of texas and in order for you to recieve your money you just have to pay the taxes of just 500 dollars and put it on a green card in order to recieve 2.5 million dollars and the mercedes benze c class that they will bring to your house in less than two hours names go by tony montana and emma brown .....they got me for the money i had on the green dot card i gave them approximately 800 dollars, because they said that they needed to varify that the card was in good standing , but once again i called and had the card reported lost\stolen.

Ive experienced the same thing two months ago. They charge me 119.00 claiming I subscribed for 6 years which I would have never done in the first place. All you have to do is call your bank and tell them you have a fraud widthrawl from your account and they will do research on the Internet like I had. Right after you must change your card number before they take more out. Then they will see its fraud then refund your money back. Today on October 3 I've received an invoice of my monthly payment so I've called the number and a women answered with no professional greeting. So I simply explained to her that I filled a fraud claim with the bank and I am not going to pay it. She said in an aggressive tone," you are being recorded and you called this number so obliviously we are not a fraud so u must pay this!" and I said good luck to you ma'am! If she decides to report it to the credit collection then I will not have a hard time fighting and beating the case. These people need to be stopped!!

Monique: I've been reading these Treasure Coast comments for some time as they come around with sympathy, but no useful response. Your reference to Luebke Baker & Associates is of great interest, as that is the hateful outfit this magazine scam reminded me of. LBA collects on essentially fraudulent debts inspired by pushy magazine sellers, to judge from the many complaints, which you are advised to review thoroughly.

If you're tangling with a debt collector, or a collector posing as a magazine seller, that changes your ability to fight these garbage claims considerably. They must answer to Federal and state laws regulating collector behavior, or face your wrath in court. The whole thing sounds like a two-stage fraud: Set up the marks with overpriced subscriptions and then double-dip through vile and illegal collection efforts.

I advise that you learn how to exercise your rights as an alleged debtor at FTC-dot gov. Also try to place paragraph breaks in your essays for easier reading.

Our story is much the same as Marion and the others below...however, after one 39.95 payments from my college son's account we shut it down and started to take action. Anytime I tried calling no one would answer...then I tried calling the magazine companies, no I had to contact the phone number associated with the 39.95 that was taken out. Well, that was impossible. After many attempts to convince them he had not ordered these things...he was thinking he was continuing his subscription to Sports Illust., one company finally stopped sending the magazines. Doesn't mean we weren't being charged...? Still can't contact the company by phone...just collection agencies. Thought it was over last fall. Now a new phone call popped up today on my son's cell and he answered. Here it is, a "supposed" collections agent after the money again...like 700 or so, but he'd take it down to 250 just to have it settled and he would assure Trevor that no more calls would be made and his credit rating wouldn't be affected. By the time Trevor was done talking to him he had taken it down to 225. Then Trevor said he didn't have the money and he would have to call his mother (he's still a very full time student and finishing up his last year) and discuss this with her. So I was blessed with a call. By the time I had to hang up and take another son to BB practice he had taken it down 25 more, then 25 more. Just to be done with things and he would assure me that the company would take all our names off their list and we would never be bothered again. Told him I'd have to call him back and he said he could only offer this amount to me today and he was done with work at 10pm. It's such a ridiculous scam...however I don't want my son's credit to be bad from this stupid episode. I'm not sure what to do next. I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and will file with FTC and also the Consumer Action Website and Law Advocate. I am also contacting my State Attorney General in South Dakota and also the one in Florida. I see they lost their accreditation with the BBB in October last year. I wish Mary Ann had left an e-mail so I could join her in the faud/theft action she is attempting. Almost tempted to talk to our local lawyer and do the same. Someone has to take these "people" down if no laws/government agencies can put them out of business. By the way, the number I have for them is: 866-608-9254 ...same as Marion below with that address also. However the number today from the credit collections (if that really was who it was) is: 678-667-3905 under the name Luebke Baker...but he told me to call back at 800-258-6587 Ext. 3312. So many numbers...so little time...I'd call them all to see what I get if I had the time! ;-) I refuse to believe that this company with their crap could really affect my son's credit record? What does everyone else think?

Good luck resolving this issue with these scammers. Contact you State Attorney Generals Office and the Florida Attorney Generals Office as well. We did. If they get enough complaints they have to do something. We also filed a complaint with the BBB even though this company has lost all accreditation with them. They are willing to at least try to do something to help us. If enough of us continue to file complaint after complaint with who ever we can find, hopefully something will be done. Stealing peoples identities and their money is WRONG! Also have the big three credit companies flag you credit reports for this scam.

In September my husband and I got a call from these creeps at Treasure Coast Readers stating that they neede to verify our information for some magazines that we supposedly ordered from them. They had our full names, address, phone numbers, social security numbers, and all of our bank account information. My husband told them that we did not want any of what they were selling and that they needed to get rid of our information and leave us alone. We closed our bank accounts and opened a new one as soon as we could. All fine for three and a half months. Then we recieved a final notice from them stating that we had to pay a $120 or it was going to collections. When we called them we found out that they will not allow us to cancel this, even though we have not recieved one magazine, and that it is for seven magazines for the next four years. When we asked what magazines they were we were told that that was confidential informationan and they could not give that to us. Then we discovered that they have all of our new bank account info as well. They also refused to give thier names and standings within the company and also refused to allow us to speak to a manager. We have done our research on this company and have discovered that they have lost a accreditation with the BBB. Gee I wonder why, all they do is scam people out of money. They are nothing but identity theives and frauds!!!!! My question is: Why wont the State of Florida shut them down? I am sorry to all of those that have or are going through this, because I know how stressful this is. Some one needs to figure out a way to stop them.

This so called company' Tresure Coast Readers' is in business of harrssing people and obtaining money by fradulant ways by calling them and charging for some magzines. In my case, I am fed up with their constant calling about the magzines I have never ordered or received, but they claim that they have an account in my name, which they can not discontinue even if I have no wish to do any business with them. While checking online I see so many people have faced or are facing problems due to this company and their bully business tecniques why no legal action has been taken agaist them? I request who so ever is in authority to deal with them and stop these scam tactics, please take action.

My identity has been stolen. These people kept calling me from treasure coast readers saying that I had to pay 39.99 a month when I had no idea who they were and had never even applied for any kind of magazine before. They said that they had been sending me stuff in the mail and that I had to pay them. I did not receive anything in the mail from them, but was so upset that I confirmed my information that they already had and I don't know where they got it. Don't ever give your information out over the phone especially if they already have information on you and are trying to make you think you owe them something.

I'm a sucker. I did the following: #1-Called my Credit Card company and had them cancel my card and issue a new card and card number. Takes about 5-7 days to get new card. #2 Filed a complaint to Florida Atty General's Office, Attn: Fraud Investigations. Also, filed letter's of complaint to my state atty's office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Attn: Special Agent Fraud Div. Washington D.C.. Treasure Coast Reader's are doing business across state lines. This is a SCAM!!! I just got a demand for payment of $39.95 which is past due or I can pay $319.90 and be payed off. I have been getting five different mags for the last two months. None of which I would subscribe. Their mailing address: Treasure Coast Readers Inc. P.O. Box 121690, West Melbourne,FL 32912 Ph 866-608-9254. All victims of this SCAM are encourged to file letters of complaint to both state and federal law enforcement. These Scammers change their addresses and location when it gets to hot for them. Most of the people who we as victims make contact with are college students and others making money for a living.

Do not give the Treasure coast Reader people any information. They ask for personal info like DOB, occupation, information they do not need. They said I was such a good customer for paying my payments each month for my monthly mag subscription (womens pkg) they couldn't tell me the names of the magazines either. they said I paid 59.95 a month from my checking account but they could not give me the name of my financial institution either. One guy that called felt so bad he called me back later (he was a new employee, 3 days)and told me he felt bad because he didn't realize what was going on at first but he said not to answer that it is a big scam and people get sucked into this! I filed a report with the FTC. Beware !!!!!!!

i got screwed over four times by magazine companies within the past four years. the first time i thought it was a good idea through one company and when i wanted to cancel it they said that i "talked through" a contract and i cannot cancel it. i ended up having to spend over $500 just to fulfill this agreement. during that time another magazine company (magazine company #2) called claiming that i was the previous company i was asking for and got me into another magazine company. magazine company #2 called me again claiming that i was not in their database and set up my account AGAIN. in the end i owed up to $400+ for the same company. then last summer i got another call and i said that i do not agree with it and said no. magazine company #3 sent me in the mail a form asking if i really would like to sign up for it and that i had 10 days to reply. i called and talked to the customer service representative and she yelled at me! i told her that i didn't want these magazines and all i had to do was send it the bottom of the form. i sent it the next day that i talked to her...and guess who called again within the next three months?! they were claiming that i owed them money and i told them that i sent it that form and i have not even been getting magazines in the first place...they said that i was canceled off of their database...until a couple months later...and NOW just this past weekend (08.01.09)they send me yet another form saying that i owe $839.30...it's been a year that i've been dealing with this crap, having to explain myself every single time over and over...i just want it to stop.

My husband signed up for this almost 2 years ago. I've had many conversations with them and they keep promising me magazines that I do not get. They are a total scam but it's too late we've already paid them $1,000 at this point. By the time I found out they were debiting our acct we had already paid several hundred dollars.
Out of the 5 or so subscriptions they promise we only get one or two and they are really dumb ones that we would never read.

I Got Scammed into buying magazine subscriptions from this company back in november I tried to call them back and cancel just hours after ordering but only got a busy signal so I had my debit card blocked but they still managed to get the first payment. about a month later they started repeatedly calling me because they wanted the money and when I tried to cancel they would not let me and now I'm afraid because I have been getting magazines in the mail but because they don't have my new card number they are not getting any money and now I'm getting bills it the mail for like over 900 dollars What Should I do?

Jo....The exact same person contacted me as well and said exactly what he told you! I too felt weird about it and immediately called the booking of my bank department and had them make note of the company. Still, I got charged $39.90, so I immediately canceled my card and called the three bureaus and have everything taken care of. I called the number that was on my bill, and it was customer service. They are actually a lot nicer and a lot slower than this Stuart guy! But still, its a scam and they can't get anymore of my money.

I also want to give props to my bank for restoring the money that was taken out of my account. I love those guys to death for helping me out. They are behind me 100%. Everybody....your bank is ALWAYS loyal to you, and will help you out anyway possible!

I received a call from these people telling me I was entered in a $25,000 Sweepstakes and they were going to send me all these free magazine subscriptions for five years as long as I agreed to help pay for TIME magazine being delivered, I was transferred to a supervisor by the name of Franklin Stuart when I was reluctant to give my card number he gave me this info:

Century Marketing Association
2905 N. Montana Ave.
Helena, MT 59601

He said that was to look them up with the FCC, then he assured me several times for about a 10 minute period that my card would not be charged until I was ready to start making payments on the supposed delivery of TIME, that was how he conned me and said I would be receiving a copy of the recording. I felt a bad feeling and immediately repoted my card lost or stolen so hopefully they can't charge the new number, thank God I did so cause I have received nothing. For anyone no knowing about changing your card number. The toll free number found after magazines is only found here and the address leads back to a salon, insurance agent, architecture contartor, and a place called Tiger Express. For any one giving more important information you might want to look into montiring your name for identity theft! I have also done this through my bank/Visa just in case. This is a major SCAM. To stop all call register your number here https://www.donotcall.gov/default.aspx

This is the number on my automatic payment for a fraud company charging 39.90 per month for magazine subscriptions which I do not even want. Would like to get rid of the bill as I don't have that kind of money, but I don't know how to go about it as they have no pleasurable customer service and it costs me money to call them on my cell phone.

i have been ordering them for over a year now. i only pay 24.99 a month for 2 years and get five years worth of magazines. I get 6 different magazines through them. Plus some freebies. But the reason I am on here is because I wanted to see if they had a website. I'm a little scared now, my subscriptions have stopped comming but the charge is on my credit card. When I called they said they just had to renew them.

They conned my husband into doing this, now we are stuck...I called 3 days later to cancel the subscriptions because I didn't want it. They told him that we had 30days to cancel, when i tried to do so within 3 days, I was turned down saying that I can't cancel, I have to continue with the orders. This has been going on Since August, and they have taken over $400.00 which is not at all what they said they would take from our account. I am highly upset, we went to the bank to dispute this. I have not received any magazines, until the day after we went to the bank and disputed. I am returning the magazines, because i don't want them!!!!!!!!!! Don't let anyone in your family near the phone if its reagarding ordering magazines for the next 5 years. It's nothing but a HUGE SCAM!!

I did not recieve a phone call. I was just balancing my check book online and had a charge from a company called "magazine". There was a "800" number listed: 800-806-4680. I called it to inquire into the charge...they wanted my name, my credit card number, etc. It is still in the pending transactions screen from the 23...my bank can't do anything till it posts.

This is part of a magazine telemarketing SCAM including:
800-806-4680
800-984-1178
800-643-1164
800-253-7027
800-220-4794

They conned my friend into accepting horribly overpriced magazines on December 12th 2006. I've been compiling information ever since. They are Century Marking, Inc. or any of several other names.
Please contact me if you have any extra information about these numbers or this company at
wayward79@hotmail.com.
