Don't trust URS for anything. They are bottom feeders. They use abusive language and will harass you at every turn.
Since January of 2009 they have had 26 lawsuits filed against them. Since August 2008 that number jumps up to 38 lawsuits filed against them. Most of these lawsuits are for violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. Then in 2004 they were fined $240,000 for violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. This company uses illegal tactics to collect a debt, they don't care about our rights.
My advice send a Cease and Desist letter now. And when they violate that sue them. You can get up to $1000 for every violation.
Lou, URS don't give a care they still violate the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act even today. I owe Citi myself and refuse to pay them now cause of the way URS has treated me after Citi refered my account to them, and the fact that I won't do business with a company the knowingly breaks the law.
One of their clients is also Dell Financial. They evidently hired United Recovery Systems even though this company was hit with a $240,000 fine by the Federal Trade Commission in 2004 for their practices. United Recovery's practices include training their callers to be argumentative, curse, shout at those they reach -- even if you're not the person they are trying to reach. They have been known to call friends, relatives, and even work numbers. I've even seen blogs where they have lucked out and reached neighbors and tried to get information out of them. They have a long list of numbers they use; I've counted 23 numbers they've used to call us. One of their tricks is to try to say their records show you haven't paid the creditor anything, even if you've been sending payments regularly. Dell refuses to participate with a Credit Counseling Service, but they don't refuse any money their sent -- it's always not enough. Why aren't we protesting Dell, who hires these scumbags?
These bastards would call me, and then just hang up, no demand for payments, no threats, nothing! Jst call and hang up.
I called them, and I got their operators who were no help. I managed to get an executive, explained the problem to him. He promised to help, but he did nothing. I called the number back four times. I finally got him on the line again. He said he found the problem. They left me alone for about two weeks. Then on night I came back from work and I had 18 voice mails from them. Again no message. The next day I called Verizon trouble call center. They called United Recovery System, and then told me that they could do nothing about them. I left about 100 blank voice mails on their phone lines after they went home for the day. I figured that I could be as obnoxious as they are, only more so. I considering applying for a job with them. When I want to, I can be a totally inconsiderate, arrogant, nasty jerk. I'm thinking I would be a perfect fit this company.

these people call two or three times a day, I awnser the phone, and no one says anything, no even a prerecorded message. Just silence and then click it disconnects. Very annoying and I believe it to be simply harresment.
Keeps calling, leaves name of person, but wont say what they wont. Calls 10 times a day sometimes.
Received numerous hang up calls from these bastards.

We usually don't answer unknown numbers, but my wife did this time. A guy named "Dave" told her he was looking for my ex-wife, who lives in Texas. NO idea how they got MY number???
She just told them she didn't know who they were talking about.
This number keeps calls me at least three times a day at all different hours. Somone mentioned Capitol One, i believe it is them.
Other of their clients is Citibank...
I found out one of their clients is currently CAPTIAL ONE..
