Trhey called and asked for me at work... I said I was not there. She said she would leave a message. I said ok. She said it was "in regards to (name's) court date". Left call back number of 800.654.7444 xt 835. Wow... such an illegal tactic.

Ms. Bedford, I agree some of this thread points to the fake payday collectors from overseas, and the above reference from December to "Affidavit Consolidation Services" would support this, being a popular fake business name for these criminals. Such an identity is not totally clear from this thread.

If it is an offshore payday thug, I'd agree with spreading complaints around. The FBI is accepting reports as well, via the Internet Crime Complaint Center. (IC3-dot-gov) However, the option to file suit which citizens have with a "normal" U.S. collector is off the table. Being outside U.S. borders and having no discernable addresses, these particular criminals are about impossible for individuals to punish.

To ALL concerned here. These people are committing felony Federal Trade Commission violations. They seem to be 'based' in Panama and or India. They are liars and appear to be stealing your identities from various pay day loan sharking organizations.
Call your state district attorneys, the better business bureaus, and the FTC and file complaints and or charges against them. Especially if you have a name and address of where these scumbags live. They are preying on some of our most desparate citizens and ripping them off.
Don't fall for their crap. They CANNOT take you to court. They CANNOT garnish your wages.
Go after them with all you got and take them out.
Alicia Bedford

There are ridiculously bad Federal violations reported in this thread. As referenced a few times over the years, there are laws to help you confront and defeat a lawbreaking debt collector, if you do your homework. Start at FTC-dot-gov.

I have received countless emails and calls from a Karen Time and Tim Atkins stating that I never paid off my loan. I did back in June 2010 paid this off. Then only a few months later to get an email as well as serveral calls to my work harrassing me telling me to just pay my loan and that people like me won't get away with this. They have threatning and relentless in terms of emails and calls. I have my bank statements to show this was paid. They want to me to repay a loan that was already paid. The manager Karen is rude and tells me they will continue with whatever path they need to to get their money back. Hello!!! You already did and are trying to take advantage of people.

OMG! What is wrong with these people? I jsut recv'd a call from 800-654-7444 x-838. I see that these are a bunch of whack jobs. I tried to act like I didn't work there anymore and she said well let me speak to her supervisor so I had to tell that I was still here but I couldn't talk. I told here that I couldn't get phone calls at work and I tried to give them my cell and home # but she said,"No I can't take that. You call me when you can discuss this account before we walk it down to the courthouse." Then gave me the phone # to call and hung up.

REPORT THIS COMPANY FOR DEPT COLLECTOR VIOLATIONS? Report any problems you have with a debt collector to your state Attorney General’s office (www.naag.org) and the Federal Trade Commission (www.ftc.gov). Many states have their own debt collection laws that are different from the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. Your Attorney General’s office can help you determine your rights under your state’s law.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation’s consumer protection agency, enforces the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), which prohibits debt collectors from using abusive, unfair, or deceptive practices to collect from you.

A debt collector may not contact you at inconvenient times or places, such as before 8 in the morning or after 9 at night, unless you agree to it. And collectors may not contact you at work if they’re told (orally or in writing) that you’re not allowed to get calls there

How can I stop a debt collector from contacting me?
If a collector contacts you about a debt, you may want to talk to them at least once to see if you can resolve the matter – even if you don’t think you owe the debt, can’t repay it immediately, or think that the collector is contacting you by mistake. If you decide after contacting the debt collector that you don’t want the collector to contact you again, tell the collector – in writing – to stop contacting you. Here’s how to do that:

Make a copy of your letter. Send the original by certified mail, and pay for a “return receipt” so you’ll be able to document what the collector received. Once the collector receives your letter, they may not contact you again, with two exceptions: a collector can contact you to tell you there will be no further contact or to let you know that they or the creditor intend to take a specific action, like filing a lawsuit. Sending such a letter to a debt collector you owe money to does not get rid of the debt, but it should stop the contact. The creditor or the debt collector still can sue you to collect the debt.

Every collector must send you a written “validation notice” telling you how much money you owe within five days after they first contact you. This notice also must include the name of the creditor to whom you owe the money, and how to proceed if you don’t think you owe the money.

If you send the debt collector a letter stating that you don’t owe any or all of the money, or asking for verification of the debt, that collector must stop contacting you. You have to send that letter within 30 days after you receive the validation notice. But a collector can begin contacting you again if it sends you written verification of the debt, like a copy of a bill for the amount you owe.

What practices are off limits for debt collectors?
Harassment. Debt collectors may not harass, oppress, or abuse you or any third parties they contact. For example, they may not:

use threats of violence or harm;
publish a list of names of people who refuse to pay their debts (but they can give this information to the credit reporting companies);
use obscene or profane language; or repeatedly use the phone to annoy someone.

False statements. Debt collectors may not lie when they are trying to collect a debt. For example, they may not:

falsely claim that they are attorneys or government representatives;
falsely claim that you have committed a crime;
falsely represent that they operate or work for a credit reporting company;
misrepresent the amount you owe;
indicate that papers they send you are legal forms if they aren’t; or
indicate that papers they send to you aren’t legal forms if they are.

Debt collectors also are prohibited from saying that:
you will be arrested if you don’t pay your debt;
they’ll seize, garnish, attach, or sell your property or wages unless they are permitted by law to take the action and intend to do so; or
legal action will be taken against you, if doing so would be illegal or if they don’t intend to take the action.

Debt collectors may not:
give false credit information about you to anyone, including a credit reporting company;
send you anything that looks like an official document from a court or government agency if it isn’t; or
use a false company name.

Unfair practices. Debt collectors may not engage in unfair practices when they try to collect a debt. For example, they may not:
try to collect any interest, fee, or other charge on top of the amount you owe unless the contract that created your debt – or your state law –allows the charge;
deposit a post-dated check early;
take or threaten to take your property unless it can be done legally; or contact you by postcard.

I received a call today at my job today. He was rude and I hung up on him. He called back and said why did I hang up and I said I told you I cannot accept calls at work. Then he went on about I spoke to him and I never did. I have all my information written down. After he got off the phone, he proceeded to send me a text stating that since I want to act like a child by all means do so but not on his dime. He also said that they have the recourse of taking this money from me legally without cooperation. This has to be against the law for people to be so rude.

I received a call today at my job from these guys. They did mention they would forward my account to a laywer (can't remember name) and that court costs would range from 3 to 4 thousand if I didn't give them a credit/debit card number by Friday. They would garnish my check while this case was in process. I immediately looked this number up and saw ya'lls comments. What bunch of crooks.

They are calling me at work too. Problem is I work for the government and yes California consumer protection laws are strict but, like a dishonest cop, you have to catch them in the act. What they don't expect is my easy access to my district attorney's office. prepaidlegal.com is a good site for this type of stuff. They key is not to call back or you will validate the loan: this is what they want and only then can they sue. They have t be aggressive sinse the debt is not with them but with the original creditor. The threats are intended for you to take ownership of the debt and he can justify his extistence. Tell your employers so they too will hang up on them.

I am trying to work with them because I lost my job but they will not budge. They have threatened me too. I read up on what someone in my situation can do but it seems that the companies will not budge a lick. They said I signed a written contract and that is all there is too it. They have threatened legal and attorney action against me. But I have kept all my mails to prove how long I have been working with them. This is why I prefer email to talk to any places like this. Yes, I agree they need to be reported to the BBB. But if you have your own writing on what they say, than it helps you too.

I am getting collections calls from this number but they are coming up as unavailalbe on my phone, AND while it could be an account that needs resoultion I know this much about fair debt collections act:

1. You cannont call a person's phone and and leave a message implying that you are a debt collectioion Agency
2. You cannont call a person's phone (have not id that I am the person that they are looking for) and leave a message threatening legal action and garnishment and they have not talked to me yet-
3. Calls must be made from 8am to 9pm in the time zone of the debtor and I've been getting calls from all over the place outside of these time zones.

I am going to file a complaint with the BBB regarding them this is crazy!!!!

They keep calling where I work and we don't allow personal calls as well unless it's an emergency. They told me they are "going to call everyday until they talk to who they are looking for". I told them, "well if they did that then the company will fire the person they are looking for - so then what will you do?" He said "good" and hung up on me.

Reported this message on their other number also:800-654-7444

Guess who called again! LOL. Well, I told thme that the person they were looking for was in a department that the supervisors DO NOT allow personal calls. I told them I could put them in a general voicemailbox, that many employees listen to, and if they left a message there, others would hear it.
ME:" Its your decision if you want to leave a personal voicemail in a message box that others will hear."
Ya know what they said?
THEM:"Sure, I have no problem leaving a personal message for others to hear."

They are now so busted! I have them on tape saying that!!!
Since they refuse to stop calling our business, even though they have been told numerous times that personal calls can not be accepted....well....I have 2 strikes against them...and the number is rising.

And here they go again...calling. I hung up on them twice. Then i called their number back and told them to stop calling this business number because i could not help them with their search of people. They refused to take our business number off their list. They said they would keep calling until they *got what they wanted*.
NOTE:
*I hope they want a report to the BBB and anyone else I can report them to.
*I hope they want their company name plastered all over the internet in a negative manner.
*I hope they want their tactics revealed to ppl.

This is a rude bunch of scumbag collectors.
I have had enough of their attitude and their calls to our business number.
This is a business phone, not a personal phone. They have been warned over and over and over.
I am now on the warpath with them.
Anything I can do let ppl know how this company acts and threatens ppl, i will post it on the internet.
They are so bad...unbelievable...threatened me because i wouldn't / couldn't get the employee that they wanted to talk to.
Well, they can go back and lick the garbage can that they climbed out of...and while doing it, may they eat rat too.
