Got a call today June 11, 2019 around 4:55 pm. The number showed up as Bank of America 1-800-421-2110. I asked why are you calling me. The guy (from Bank of America supposedly) who was connected to me said he was calling me about lowering my credit card interest rates. I told him I did not have any credit cards. The next thing I heard from klick up. From Maryland

They called me around 7 AM this morning. I didn't answer, but later Googled the number. Seems--from all the reports on this site--that it's an attempt to get info that would enable them to steal your money. I'm guessing this is a gang that bought credit-card information that had been hacked from B of A, but they now needed more detail in order to put the stolen data to good use. Don't cooperate at all, and block the number.

i was called 04/01/2019 with no message, and no register of the call with my google voice or gmail which is the norm for all incoming calls to my number. even for me to filter it, i'm going to have to call it back to register the number in my list online. i've read through all the posts here, and i believe the way it has been hijacked from a legit BofA#, is they're using the number as the "name" to push the sms caller ID.
the slight of hand being played here is extremely clever, and a lot of very nice people are going to be taken advantage.
word of advice: enter all of your numbers into your contacts yourself, don't rely on auto-name happening with your smart device.
Don't ever answer a call you don't know the number/name of, let it go to voicemail.

So I called several customer service numbers for bank of america and the only way to proceed with their automated system is to enter an accnt #, SS# or Tax ID. So I called a local branch and they were absolutley no help and completely uninterested in the fact that this is happening and that these calls are coming from their legit customer service 800 numbers. Just a good reminder of why I quit doing business with them in 2003.

I got a call from 800 421 2110. Caller ID said it was Bank of America. I haven't had an account there since 2003. They called 3 times between 8 and 10 am left long empty voicemail each time. This happens when someone either doesn't hang up or it's a robocall. I called the number back and it says "welcome to bank of america please enter your account number to continue" I don't have an account number so that is as far as I could get. If I did I still wouldn't just enter it. If that really is a legit number that has been spoofed then it was Bank of America I called and they should think about changing the automated system that demands you instantly enter your entire account number before you can e en verify that you are actually on the line with BofA. I am on the donotcall list but I still get several calls a day.I always report them but the problem just gets worse.

I, too, received a call from "Card Services" claiming that if I did not respond my Visa card would be canceled. Oh my, what should I do? I knew it was a scam of course, but I enjoy taking up the scammer's time and irritating them with "I'm confused" and "I'm not sure I understand. I give no information or a false name... never account numbers or SSN. Occasionally, the scammer will actually know my correct name - which is a little scary - however, I have no problem with an outright lie saying "No, I'm sorry that's not my name; perhaps that person was the previous owner of the number you called." My goal is to waste the scammer's time to reduce their opportunity to find a victim. The most recent interaction was quite successful... I wasted 2:16 minutes of the scammer's time and had reduced to a tirade - including vulgarities - before hanging up. If you are not driving, take the call and have a minute or two of fun.

See the previous post below. My debit card was frozen by BOA because the ATM was faulty. I called BOA to report and my card was unfrozen. This CAN be a legit number although I have no doubt criminals DO SPOOF this number as well. Be aware and careful. If you have a real problem with your card from BOA you may get a real call.

Just to clarify, the number - 800-421-2110 - is the customer service number listed on the back of Bank of America credit cards and is a legit number. It has been spoofed to make fraudulant calls representing "Card Services". The caller starts out by stating he is calling to lower your interest rates because you have paid your bills on time. He then begins to phish for you credit card number and SSN. BEWARE! While the number is legit, Bank of America does not use this number to contact you, rather it is a number they use for it's customers to contact them. Best advise, always ask questions. ei... Which account are you calling about? Have them give you information first before giving any in return, the caller will most likely hang up. Cheers.

I just got called by this number on my cell and looked it up to see these comments. Lately I've been receiving a rash of scam calls and robo calls with no messages. What is hard now is that there was a valid collection company calling me after I moved across country about a bill from old address to pay that had not forwarded to me. I did not know about this bill so it started hitting my credit scores as a non-collected debt. I had to cross reference all these scam calls on my phone with no messages to see if the collection company was one of them. It turns out, they don't leave messages either. Hard to tell apart now. I had risked calling back the collection phone and took awhile for me to trust that they were not trying to get my card number to pay a bill on scam. Finally I did and closed out that collection debt last week after 6 months since I moved. My credit is in tank now because no one can friggin communicate about matters on phone that may be legit while we dodge these jokers. Really tired of this game.

I posted before. This is FRAUD IN THE FIRST DEGREE.
Just to be clear - I worked for a credit card company from 1995-1997. I worked for Merrill Lynch for 16 years. ML is now owned by BofA. I have had a BofA credit card since 1995, and the card is now branded ML because ML was bought by BofA. And I remember a long time ago, BofA using this 800#.
These fraudsters are slick. I called the real BofA and spoke with a guy in Card Services, the 800-421-2110 # was used at one time but is no longer used. The fraudsters hijacked a legit old # and are fooling people. Also the voice menu lady sounds the same, and ASKS FOR YOUR FULL CREDIT CARD # OR SOCIAL SECURITY #. A legit credit card company would never ask for this in a voice menu. Maybe the last 4 digits of your card if you call a legit #, but never the full #. And never a SSN.
BEWARE AND AVOID. THE FRAUD IS RATCHETING UP.

I didn't read all the comments here, but I probably have a similar story:

I didn't answer the 800# calling me. But I called this 800# from my office landline to f*ck with them. The automated voice is female and smooth like BofA's. I know because I have a BofA card. But after a bit the voice asks for my credit card # OR MY SOCIAL SECURITY #. Really, are we that stupid?!?

I called again and decided to put in a fake credit card #. These guys are good, would only accept a fake # if the first 4 digits were correct + remaining 12 digits were fake. Smooth dude Andy from NY comes on, and in my Office Space dweeb voice I grill him. Why ask for SS#? I called the real BofA about my account and no one called me, why are you calling me? Hung up on the tool.

numbers they call.

- cold calling ! -

Bank of America - Customer Service 800-516-9561
I then called Bank of America customer service. I asked what account I have with them? Using mu full name and SSN they said I was not a customer. So
what is Privacy Assist Premier doing? How can they call a non-customer on a
private phone number that nobody has? - Cold Calling -

I was then directed to the fraud department 1-800-421-2110 ask for fraud dept.
I was told that they have no phone number for me and I should not have
been called because I am not a customer.

So I'll continue to complain with the Do Not Call donotcall.gov web site
for each and every violation and have Privacy Assist Premier acting on
Bank of America's reputation rack up BIG $$$ of fines each time.
Then, maybe Bank of America will get the point that Privacy Assist Premier
is costing them money and reputation each time they do this cold calling.

YOU DO THE SAME!

I got called at my home number this AM. My number has been on the Do Not Call list since its inception and I do not have any current business relationship with BOA. Therefore, they have violated federal law. I called the 1-800-421-2110 below, spoke with a Chris Lampman at 9:05 AM today, Alaska Standard time, recorded the call, and told him BOA was violating federal law.

Even more annoying, there was no customer service rep. at the other end when BOA called me using the 1-800-460-0659 number. I could hear other reps talking to "customers" in the background, but no one took the call -- their autodialer was ahead of the pack.
