calls are for an old owner of this cell phone number dummies.i have never given my cell phone number out. i just got it in march 2011. they filled up my voicemail on hold twice when i left my cell phone off. if i reject they dont leave message. and i start my outgoing meassage with SIT tones.

i think, according to the FDCPA, it is illegal for debt collectors to call cell phones as it makes the amount owed higher having to spend cell phone $. basically it is making the debt more without going through proper legal channels, which is a no no. so thell them they are calling a cell phone and you think they are in violation of FDCPA.

Once a debt passes beyond the statute of limitation in your state, a debt collector no longer has the right to sue you for payment. You may still have a moral obligation to pay back an old, forgotten debt, but you can't be sued over it. Any debt collector who threatens to sue you over a debt that is beyond the statute of limitation in your state is in violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA).

they called the house for a while, and I just went to Caller ID and called them back, and the operator or whoever it was said: We're sorry, but it is not necessary to dial a one or a zero when calling this number." What the heck?
 May 12th, 2010
So funny! Their auto-dialer got my answering machine and they had a conversation with each other. My machine told their machine to leave a message. Their machine told my machine to please hold and a representative would be with my machine shortly. My machine eventually won the showdown because they gave up and hung up. I love it!!!!!

And no, I don't have a Capital One card. Never have - and now I never will either! :-D
 Mar 08th, 2010
answered it twice, both times a recording tell me to please hold because all their associates are busy with other customers...they called me to hold? I am blocking this number...even though they will just get another one to continue harrasing people.
 Feb 20th, 2010
I got at least 15 missed calls in 3 days over the weekend from 8002605570 at my work number. When I answered the 16th call, I got a recording saying something like "Please hold for an important call all of our reps are currently busy". Then a lady came on line, and she was barely audible (sounded like a cheap VoIP connection) asking for someone (whose name I could barely comprehend). I did not answer and the line got disconnected.

If this is legitimate, a "proper" message will be left behind. I would not call this number back.

Autodialers should be outlawed but since they aren't get your own, load up all 245 numbers, and enjoy!
Perhaps it's time to check the PBX load capacity anyway.

We have recv'd muliple calls from this # and from others 703-656-9956 is one of them. I block the #'s on our phone everytime I figure out it is NCO. We do not owe any money to anyone and have great credit. They are looking for someone with the same name as my husband and even though we have told them in the past that they have the wrong person they keep calling us. I am sick of it and would love to see them get in trouble for these calls.
 Sep 28th, 2009
Look at this page! There are 245 numbers that NCO calls from!

Can you believe it?
They call us 7 days a week 6 times a day -- morning, noon, and night. We owe nothing - have no Capital One card.(BTW- it is absolutely illegal to use automatic dialers to connect to cell phones -- if that's happening to you, go to the FCC and or FTC online complaint page and let them know.)

Check out this silly audio from NCO's web site (Sr. VP Scott Ross)about how wonderful the collections policies are: Maybe folks on this site want to call and tell him what a bang-up job he's doing?? NOT!
 Aug 15th, 2009
Hey if someone can figure out how to call them on an automated system and bug the heck out of them maybe they will get a clue.
 Jul 15th, 2009
I have picked this call once and got a recorded greeting "Please hold for an important call all of our reps are currently busy". Didn't indicate who was calling or about what. My thought is who calls a cell phone and then puts someone on hold. This gosh forsaken # has called me no less than 25 times in the last week.

This kind of thing should be stopped. Phone companies should be able to disconnect phones numbers that cause this kind of frustration.

I don't owe anybody any money.

And many more...

While NCO Financial has earned what seems to be a permanent slot in our exclusive list of America's Worst Collection Agencies, it's really difficult to classify them when held up to others in the industry.

On one hand, NCO aggressively peruses and takes over other collectors in a bid to be the world's largest.

Meanwhile, corporate collection policy seems to sway daily, depending upon the wind. One call might bring threats to our active duty military personnel and their families, on a level reserved for terrorists. The next call will be gentlemanly, helpful and not-at-all like the NCO of old. You never know which one you'll get.

On some occasions, NCO takes the debtor into court, scratching and fighting for pennies and spending thousands to get it. On others, they fold like a paper tiger at the hint of consumer counter activity.

Perhaps the giant is learning from the mistakes of the past. Perhaps the sting of some many fines and penalties caused stockholders to crack the whip. We do know that two years ago, our email box and phone were overflowing with NCO complaints. At that time, every other complaint was about NCO. Now they just trickle in.

What's lacking in this big agency is a resolution department. If they had a team of 3 people to handle consumer complaints, put out public relations fires and resolve problems - someone with the authority to make decisions - they'd not only disappear from our list of America's worst, they'd do themselves much good.

these people are calling ALL the time, sundays at 8:40, then it says "please hold for an important call, all rep. are busy". Bullshit! these clowns are calling for a debt from an ex-husband of an ex-roommate from almost 25 years ago. I have never met the ex husband, nor have I have contact with this roommate in 20+ years! I am not even sure my roommate from way back then is still alive - she was older?? I talked to these clowns, told them I have never had a Capital One card and don't know the person they are calling about.

What can one do about this harrassment??? Even if I would know where this charge happy ex is I sure would NOT tell them! It's not my problem if they extend outrageous credit lines to losers and then get burned! They told me they would take my phone number off the account but it has NOT happened. WTH??? Yes, they are in Manila.

Have been receiving several, several calls the last few days, including on Sunday. I found this web site and decided to call the number back. NCO answered... I talked to a Desiree, she asked if I was some other name, I told her I was not and she could look my phone number up and see for herself. She said our phone call may be recorded or monitored and I told her "I hope it is"... She said she would remove my number and it will take up to 48 hours. We will see.
 Apr 06th, 2009
Caller asked for an unintelligble name. I asked him to repeat the name. He asked for a Kirsten *****. I said there is no such person who has ever been at this phone #. I have told your company this before. The last person who called for her said my # was going to be removed.
He then asked if I was sure it was the same company.
I said are you NCO/Capital One? He said yes. I said then yes, you've already been notified that this is only MY personal cell phone and I have filed several complaints. He said Sorry and hung up.

I've NEVER had a Capital One card (& NEVER will after this) and owe NO ONE money. This # has been my landline for many years & is now my cell #!

I've filed DONOTCALL, FCC, BBB and all other complaints I can think of. I've tried contacting my service provider (Tmobile) who claims they can't do anything. I'm now collecting all these calls for the lawyers who run the STOPNCO website.
 Mar 16th, 2009
More DEAD AIR calls.
OWE NO ONE MONEY. NEVER EVER HAD a Capital One card(or will after this harrassment!)

Have even contacted Capital One and they've admitted that I don't owe them money & they shouldn't be calling me.

Have filed DONOTCALL complaints for every single call, filed FCC complaints, am now working with the STOPNCO lawyers Alex Weisberg to stop this harassment!
 Mar 12th, 2009
picked up, got recording "please stay on the line for an important message". Hung up. Googled the #. Found it was NCO.
They're a collection agency w/ Captial One who have been harassing me for months for SOMEONE ELSE.
I DO NOT OWE MONEY TO ANYONE! I've NEVER had a Capital One card (and never will after this experience!!)
They have been informed that Capital One acknowledges that I do not owe them money, they are calling me INCORRECTLY.
Yet they will not stop!

I've filed DONOTCALL complaints, FCC complaints, warned Capital One to stop the calls. I'm now tracking all the calls I get and reporting them to the lawyers who run the STOPNCO website (I forget their exact names but if you google STOPNCO you'll find them).

Repeated calls from this number, every hour. No one leaves a message. After 12 calls or so in a day, I called them and told them I was going to report harassment to the authorities. They said they would remove my phone # from their database within 24 hours. We will see! Good luck to you all trying to get them to stop calling, it's so annoying!
