This is a legit Capital One phone number from their fraud dept. After receiving a phone call from this number today (and a voicemail because I didn't answer), I called Capital One from the number on the back of my card. When I asked to talk to someone from the USA that I could actually understand, I arrived at Brandy. She had no record of anyone calling me this morning. She transferred me to the fraud dept. (I do have an ongoing case which Capital One initially notified ME of). The person that took my call in the fraud dept. transferred me to Jeff, the guy that called me this a.m. He said Brandy would not have a record of his call & that they work separately. Jeff was working on my case & wanted to know if I had ever done business with the company in question. When in doubt, do NOT call a number, call the company & work your way to the fraud dept.

1-800-427-9248 is a legitimate number for the Capital One fraud services. Another legit number is 1-800-215-1921. I got a message to verify a recent purchase, and the message said to call back at "800-427-9248 or the number on the back of your credit card." I was cautious and called the main bank number, and was eventually transferred to the Fraud Unit. They had placed the call and they were indeed verifying a purchase.

1st told me to call 800-215-1921 and ask for Marjorie, did that and she wasn't there but left a message for me to give her my card# or SS#, (right, I'm not that stupid) This was for a fraud claim that I had already been contacted about and canceled the card a day or so earlier, so wonder why I needed to call and give info again. SCAM?!
