Received an automated call from this number claiming to be Amazon to warn me about a purchase being made with my Visa (I don't have a visa) for $77.00. If I did make that purchase, disregard the call. If I did not make the purchase, call that number immediately to stop the purchase.
I confirmed on Amazon that no recent purchases were made and I cannot find that number associated with Amazon at all.

California - I just got a call from phone number 645-844-8365. Caller sounded foreign. Said he was with the IRS and that I owed the government money. I cursed him, and told him to never call my number again. I do not owe the IRS, and further more, the IRS will never call you. If you owe them they will send you a notice via the US Mail. This is a serious scam. Do not give them any information. Just hang up, and enter *77 to block them from calling you again. Good luck, and keep your information safe and do not give it to these telephone predator's. Wish the police would shut them down.

I have received several phone calls in the last 3 days from unknown numbers who claim to be from the Maintenance (or Security) Department of the Windows operating system of my computer. (I know this is bogus because I do not have a Windows computer!) The really weird thing is that the first two calls came from "incomplete" phone numbers: [+1 (216) 888-77] and [+1 (888) 77]

The calls coming from this phone number are likely a SCAM. Many people are reporting these calls with the following information in their caller ID: Louise Moreau, Matthews, Pierce and Lloyd commercial debt recovery specialists) in Tampa, Fl, and Florida

This sounds very similar to the warning from the BBB regarding SCAMMERS who are using the phone numbers of regular people and small businesses to attempt to get people
to pick up the phone.

Sadly, Louise Moreau and Matthews, Pierce and Lloyd have most likely joined the ranks (without even
knowing it ) of many others who recently have had their phone numbers hi-jacked (spoofed) as well: a florist in cape coral, fl; a florist in naples, fl; a child care center in Zephyrhills, fl; a 77 year old man in venice fl; an 86 year old woman in haines city,fl; a carpet business in fort myers, fl;
and a small Italian family business in tampa, fl.
Don't answer the phone no matter what the caller ID says!

Gold Coast Publishing / Golfer's Digest Scam.

I somehow fell for this scam and gave my CC number. After all of the talking the guy did to build up my trust, I thought it was interesting how quickly he ended the conversation after I gave my payment info. At that point, a number of red flags came to mind as I thought more about the sales pitch. I immediately called my credit card company and canceled the card. Within a minute of canceling the card I got a call and a voice mail from the "accounts and billing" of the scammer saying that my card was declined. Google searches of the various phone numbers that they used all point to one thing, a SCAM.

They used a service that I have a legitimate ad placed for my business to find me. This service gives me the IP address of prospective clients. See below.

Company name used: Gold Coast Publishing
Phone numbers used to call me: 561-393-3464, 561-417-2934, 561-417-2570
Phone number they give to call them: 1-855-382-0300 with multiple extensions
IP #: 108.77.88.160
IP Location: West Palm Beach, FL
IP Info on melissadata.com: http://www.melissadata.com/lookups/iplocation.asp?ipaddress=108.77.88.160

I have submitted a complaint with the FTC. A bit of advice: Never give your CC number or personal information to anyone who calls you regardless of how legit you think they are. Only give your information to businesses or people whom you initiate contact with.

recent articles at better business bureau, scam busters dot org and the fiscal times dot com, say that there are a couple of new scams. The first one is that telemarketers and scammers are now using (spoofing) the numbers of regular people, including small businesses. The idea is that householders will pick up the phone if they see a number that looks like a regular number.....the name of the business or person is in the caller ID. Also, for people who check the compiled lists of spoofed numbers, the numbers of regular people will not be on those lists. That would explain why we and many others have been receiving calls from florists, a family business in tampa, florida, child day care centers and even an 86 year old woman's phone who lives in a mobile home park in haines city, fl and a 77 year old man's phone. The other scam is to use (spoof) the number of the householder who the scammers called. The BBB says that the scammers objective is for the householder to be so shocked or curious, or both, to see their own phone number in the caller ID, that they will pick up the phone. The BBB warns against that. Also, if you miss the call, BBB says do not call "your" number back. And of course, never give out any financial or personal information.

I was receiving multiple calls "Unknown Name Unknown Number"--some after 9 p.m. So, I used *77 to stop callers with blocked numbers from getting through to my land line. Anonymous Call Rejection will tell the unknown caller that my phone does not accept calls from private numbers and to hang up, reverse their number privacy, and try again. After a few days of no phone calls, I received one from an Unknown Name using 999-999-9999. I am assuming the caller who had been blocking their number decided to mask their number with a fake number instead, so that they could get through the ACR.

Received multiple calls offering a job related to VISA and MASTERCARD Merchant accounts that was a very easy sounding job description with good pay for the work ask of me. On one of the calls, I heard what sounded to be a boiler-room in the background. One caller had the brains to mute his outgoing side when he wasn't speaking so I didn't hear what sounded like a boiler room background sound. Each time, it was represented as a limited position. Each time, the job just opened up in my area. One of the callers went so far as to claim he saw that someone had just applied for one of the two positions open. That was last Friday. Today is Jan. 3, 2014. He said he's talk to his boss to see if they couldn't hold one open until Monday. He knew I was more than qualified. Did not hear back from that man. Today around 11:30 to 11:40 a.m. I received another such call from a woman. The return number was 77-945-5517 with the following numbers just below what appeared as the phone number. They were: V031-132-0100032. I explained that I believed it to be a fraud, to which she said, "If it were a fraud, we would have been shut down by now." I said not necessarily and that I recently discovered multiple criminal and civil frauds against Wells Fargo Bank from the beginning point of 1992, when we refinanced our home. The orig. stated lender/beneficiary and holder of the trust deed never existed. Since then, Wells has been trying to cover it up by creating even more fraud. I then explained about some of the back-room U.S. government (Wash DC) games that have been fraudulent for well over 100 years and what her Soc. Sec. # represented. It was her I.D. # of her "person". All persons of the united states including those in the United States reside in Washington DC and her social security card was akin to a stock certificate and her number was like the Cusip number on a stock certificate. I continued with more until I could tell someone had joined the conversation. She was interested in my words but suddenly became nervous and said she had to get off the phone. That was immediately after I said, "If the position is real, I would very much be interested. She abruptly hung up. VISA, MASTERCARD and FBI should be alerted. My address is 17692 Anglin Lane, Tustin CA 92780. My phone she called on is 714-731-5661 and is supplied via cable by Time Warner Cable. That should be enough to trace it back to its origin. I'm 68 and a lifetime small entrepreneur with keen senses and intuition. It's worth checking into. Unfortunately, I didn't catch the company she may have said to work for if she did so state. I also did not get her name. Sounded middle aged.

If everybody would just quit answering unidentified calls they would soon go away... You don't see too many door-to-door sales anymore, do you?
_____________________

@ JJ, you are incorrect. There is a company called Pacific Telecomm that sold its entire block of 77,000 numbers to a telemarketeer that had previously been shut down under a different name. That telemarketing company and Pacific Telecomm realized that other telephone companies are required to pay a tiny fee for the caller ID info they transmit on every call.

This company is one that does a lot of card services scam calls among other familiar spammers.

The reason why those calls will never go away whether you answer the or not, whether you ask to be removed (they just laugh in your face and hang up), or whether you scream at them. They use auto dialers to make 10s of thousand if not hundreds of thousands of calls a day and rake in a fortune from the fees paid for the caller ID info. They literally just don't care if anyone answers or if you do answer if you're stupid enough to buy into one of their scams. They make their money from the caller ID info fees.

That's why it is so important to file complaints with your state attorney general's office and the FCC if you are getting these calls. Last I knew the Feds and at least a doze attorney generals were looking into this, but the way the laws are written violations are tied to specific numbers and with 77,000 numbers to rotate through there were not many complaints built up about any given number.

In this case since its an 855 number probably not the company I was referring to, but the same thing applies. Someone somewhere is getting paid the caller id info fees, and where the telemarketers are smart they partner with companies like Pacific Telecomm.
Martin
 Oct 24th, 2013
This is likely tied to the Pacific Telecomm Caller ID Scam. This company sold its entire block of 77,000 lines to a telemarketing company that has many violations against it. They discovered that since other companies have to pay Pacific Telecomm a tiny fee for the caller id info that is transmitted by them, that they can make 10s of thousands of robocalls a day and make a lot of money from it if they never talk to a single person or if no one ever buys into their various scams.

Because of this they don't care if you want to be removed, they get paid for calling you over and over and have zero concern that the calls enrage you.

Last I knew the Feds and at least a dozen states were looking into shutting these people down. The problem is with 77,000 numbers that they constantly rotate through for their outbound calls, that any individual line likely has only a few complaints against it. It is VERY IMPORTANT that you register complaints with the FCC and your state attorney general's office for every single call you receive if you ever want this to go away. Until they build up enough complaints against multiple numbers associated with these people they have trouble shutting them down because the laws are apparently all written based on infractions by a specific number tied to a telemarketer.
Martin
 Oct 15th, 2013
These calls are most likely originating from a company that purchased all 77,000 numbers owned by Pacific Telecomm and partnered with them. They make 10s of thousands of calls a day from these numbers because they realized that other phone companies must pay Pacific Telecomm a tiny fee for the caller ID info they transmit. Ie; they are making a lot of money simply by making the calls, and don't care at all if you buy into the scam or whatever crap product they're offering when they call. That's why they won't maintain a do not call list and won't follow the national one, and why they don't care if you ask them not to call again.

They were under investigation a year or so ago by the Feds and about 15 state attorney generals. The problem they were encountering was that any individual one of the numbers being called from only gets a few complaints because they have the pool of 77,000 outbound numbers to call from. Its very important you file complaints with the FCC and your state attorney general if you ever want these calls to stop.

This number is still calling me. Since DoNotCall Registry and *77 aren't helping, my current message on my answering machine states - 'you've reached 972-___-____. If you're a telemarketer please remove my name and number from your list. Repeat callers are reported to the FTC and FCC. Last resort will be to spend $50-$100 for a device that blocks telemarketers.

Me again! Disregard the last two comments...this actually was a legitimate call from USAA!! I received a follow up letter via mail. I love USAA as far as companies go, but disappointed they didn't even know when I called them they had called me! They should have referenced a dept. in the message. Such a big company when I called to verify they hadn't called for something they said they hadn't. They were concerned about fraud and assured me they would follow up, guess they will figure out for themselves!! Anyway, not to worry 77-801-2448 should be legit. I didn't actually call it for safety but used my regular # for USAA to resolve the issue but it was a legitimate issue initiated on USAA's behalf.

Whosever it is spoofed the caller ID so that it said only, "Incoming call" I ignored it because I know its spoofed, and they called right back three times in a row. I use *77 anonymous call rejection, so people who have a private number get a message saying so, and to press *82, and because whoever is calling doesn't want us to know who it is, they spoof the caller ID> Only telemarketing and debt collection companies have the technology to do that, so it's obvious that it is one of those types of companies calling.
Annoyed owner
 Jan 30th, 2013
Starting in November, 2012, I have been reporting these spoofed calls to both Loyola University (the real one in New Orleans, area code 504), and the FCC. On the few occasions when I have picked up such a call, the line has immediately gone dead.

Loyola has told me that the calls must be coming from their automatic phone system that is used to contact alumni to solicit donations, and that something must be wrong with the machinery. None of the numbers, which start with 504-861-58xx, match up with any numbers at the university's site. The phone may sometimes ring 30 to 50 times!

I have every reason to believe that the person behind the calls is someone who is stalking me -- just to be a pest, simply to let me know that he knows where I am, when I turn off my lights to "hit the sack", and when I am most likely to be home. The calls come almost invariably between 6 and 6:30 PM.

The FCC has heard abundantly from me about these pesky calls, using this person's main business name to identify him. I think I may have made some solid hits, because the attacks with the spoofed phone calls have intensified. There is now a whole list of 504 and even 519-966-35xx and 646-558-35xx numbers with the ending numbers of 19, 37, 39, 43, 44, 45, 52, 77, and 79.

The wackiest part of all this is that when I go out to work on my yard (I live in suburbia with lots of lawn to mow), he makes sure I know he is in his windows that overlook my yard, taking pictures and videos of me.

Could I depend upon the police to call him to account? No. He is very wealthy; his family owns property on Long Island, New York. Technically, I am poor, living on Social Security and not much else. He has even had an attorney from another law office write a "snippy" letter to me, full of threats. I called this attorney, and she proceeded to make more threats against me!

Police take his word about anything -- including lies about me. The courts kowtow to him; he has nothing better to do than to drag his neighbors into court to try to get them thrown into jail or a mental hospital. He and his roommate have abundant connections to the entertainment business here in this city; no one is going to say anything against them. (They are on the board of directors of VooDoo Fest; Google that name for the whole story from 2012.)

I pray constantly that no one else -- who has had the misfortune to have this person and his roommate residing next door to them -- has suffered the indignities that I have endured now for well over a decade.

Loyola University gave me a baloney story about how their dialing system to solicit donations from alumni is having some problems. This was in November, 2012.

The full range of numbers begins 504-861-58xx, and the xx part could be any one of these numbers: 37, 39,43,44,45, 77, or 79.

The person who is using the call service from Loyola to spoof his own identity -- and to let me know that he is watching me, i.e., stalking -- also shows up as LGIVINGMOMENTS, strangely with the number 646-558-3519 that has exactly the same last 4 digits as the number of a friend of mine with whom I had just spoken!

I have every reason to believe that the "stalker" is an attorney who lives next door, due south, and who gets his jollies attacking me by phone, and having his friends and workmen trespass on my property and vandalize my car and house.

Their Charity Navigator rating[76] for fiscal year ending May, 2008 shows one star overall, zero stars for efficiency, and three for capacity; the two previous years vary in capacity rating, but also show one star overall and zero for efficiency.

In 2004, charity watchdog American Institute of Philanthropy gave Kids Wish Network an F.[77]

Kids Wish Network's IRS form 990 for tax year ending 5/31/2009 shows that out of $14,601,852 in gross receipts from fundraising activities, $12,885,479 was paid to fundraisers and $1,716,373—or about 12%--was retained by the organization. IRS documents also show that the three officers of the board—husband and wife founders Mark and Shelley Breiner and Shelley Briener's mother, Barbara Askin, received a total of over $200,000 in compensation for serving as officers of the Board of Directors.[78] In early 2010, Kids Wish Network founders Mark and Shelley Breiner retired from their positions as directors of the charity and are no longer drawing a salary; they now donate their time as volunteers.

BBB Wise Giving Alliance Comment

Despite written BBB Wise Giving Alliance requests in the past year, this organization either has not responded to Alliance requests for information or has declined to be evaluated in relation to the Alliance’s Standards for Charity Accountability. While participation in the Alliance’s charity review efforts is voluntary, the Alliance believes that failure to participate may demonstrate a lack of commitment to transparency. Without the requested information, the Alliance cannot determine if this charity adheres to the Standards for Charity Accountability. A charity's willing disclosure of information beyond that typically included in its financial statements and government filings is, in the Alliance's view, an expression of openness that strengthens public trust in the charitable sector.

Called at 5:38PM on 11/16. As always, I didn't answer, letting it go to voice mail. The Caller ID read, "SIRS". This unwanted call fell in the "no message" category (the other category is "recorded message", which, fortunately, runs concurrent with my voice message greeting so that most of the message doesn't record, and pressing "77" gets rid of the rest of it). You'd think telemarketing, suveys and solicitors would wise up to the fact that we get a ton of them, despise all of the intrusions, and don't pick up for any of them. Anyone who employs them is wasting their money.

Called my NEW fax # which I changed to avoid such calls. I pressed *77 and a lot of zeros and actually heard a girl call me and "asshole". Cannot call the number back... it is just a busy signal. WHY can't we all get rid of these calls or at least find out who is making them so they can be re-called or reported!??

Almost DAILY - I receive calls from RACHEL with CARD SERVICES - saying there is no problem but it is URGENT that we speak regarding CREDIT CARDS and how they can help reduce interest rates. RACHEL, a recorded voice, says to press 1 to connect to an Agent or 9 to be taken off their call list. I have pressed 9 upon receipt of these calls BUT continue to be called - again ALMOST DAILY. I have pressed 1 and spoken to an agent a LIVE PERSON. When I ask to be taken off the list - they hang up. When I ask to speak with a supervisor - they hang up. Sometimes I play dumb to find out more about their offer. They CLAIM to work for all major credit card companies and 77 banks. They want to know if I have more than $3,500 in debt and paying interest more than 10%. At this point I say I am not interested and to remove my name & number - they hang up. I have call blocked their numbers - they use different numbers to call me still. I have previously reported this to FTC. PLEASE stop THEM !

I HAVE EVERY REASON TO BELIEVE THIS IS PERHAPS SOME KIND OF INTERNAL FRAUD AT THE WATER UTILITY CO OR PEOPLE WHO MAYBE GOT FIRED OR SOMETHING. THESE PEOPLE WERE ALWAYS CSLLING ME AND SCARING ME INTO PAYING THEM REPRESENTING THEMSELVES AS AMERICAN WATER,. I SHOULD HAVE BEEN UP TO DATE ON MY WATER BILL, BUT I GOT A NOTICE SAYING THAT I OWED $145.77!!!!! I LIVE IN A FREAKING 2 BEDROOM CONDO. UM.... I DONT THINK MY BILL SHOULD BE THAT MUCH. I HAVE BEEN KEEPING A CLOSE EYE ON THIS. PEOPLE WHO WORK AT UTILITY COMPANIES ARE SOMEHOW GETTING AWAY WITH OVERCHARGING THE CUSTOMERS BY 100% I KNOW THAT MY WATER BILL,$145.77 MY ELECTRICITY BILL,SHOULD BE AROUND $50 BUT IS OVER $100, OR $150 FOR ONE FREAKING MONTH OF SERVICE??? I DONT THINK SO! AND MY GAS BILL SHOULDNT BE ANY MORE THAN $15 A MONTH, THE ONLY THIN I HAVE IS A GAS POWERED WATER HEATER BUT MY BILL IS ABOUT $40 A MONTH. I HAVE COMPLAINED REPEATEDLY TO ALL THE UTILITIES, INCLUDING TAKING IT ALL THE WAY TO THEIR BOARD MEMBERS, AND NOTHING IS EVER DONE ABOUT IT. IT MAKES ME WONDER IF MY PHONE IS HACKED AND THERE IS A SPECIFIC GROUP OF ORGANIZED CRIMINALS THAT HAVE THIS LEVEL OF ARROGANCE AND SOPHISTICATION, SINCE I HAVE BEEN TREATED SO POORLY BY ALL OF THE UTILITY COMPANIES. IF ANYBODY OUT THERE IN ANY STATE OF THE UNITED STATES IS HAVING THIS PROBLEM, PLEASE KNOW THAT YOURE NOT GOING CRAZY, YOURE NOT ALONE, AND MY LAST QUESTION, ARE YOU READY TO BUST THESE FUCKING DIRTBAGS?????? I AM. PLEASE CALL THE FCC, FTC, BBB, AND IN PARTICULAR, PROVIDING YOUR PHONE ISNT HACKED AND YOU CAN ACTUALLY GET A FEDERAL AGENCY, CALL THEM. WE ARE ON TO SOMETHING REALLY BIG THAT MUST BE STOPPED. IF THE DIRTBAGS RESPONSIBLE ARE READING THIS, .... YOUR DAYS ARE NUMBERED. I HOPE YOU BURN IN HELL. YOU DESERVE TO.

Got a message from some outfit representing Bank of America about some Mortgage Dee-Fault Prevention Program? They wuz saying that I was goin' to get sum letter from Federal Express. Whuz up wit that?

I read this in this mornin's paper:

NEW YORK (Reuters) - American International Group Inc is suing Bank of America Corp to recover more than $10 billion over a "massive fraud" on mortgage debt, deepening the litigation morass facing the largest U.S. bank.

Bank of America shares fell as much as 16.4 percent to their lowest level since April 2009, underperforming its main rivals, amid a broad market decline that followed Standard & Poor's downgrade of United States credit ratings.

AIG said it expects to pursue other litigation to recover losses from counterparties that "sought to profit at our expense." Taxpayers still own 77 percent of the New York-based insurer, which received $182.3 billion of government bailouts.

Monday's lawsuit may complicate Bank of America Chief Executive Brian Moynihan's efforts to contain losses from the bank's $2.5 billion purchase of Countrywide Financial Corp, once the largest U.S. mortgage lender, in July 2008.

That purchase is now considered a disaster for the Charlotte, North Carolina-based lender because of the costs of litigation and writing down bad loans.

Moynihan "inherited a ton of excess baggage," said Michael Mullaney, who helps oversee $9.5 billion at Fiduciary Trust Co in Boston, which has sold nearly all its Bank of America stock. "Bank of America's stock price will remain under duress," he said.

The AIG case is among a growing number of lawsuits by investors seeking to hold banks responsible for losses on soured mortgages that contributed to the financial crisis.

BANK OF AMERICA SAYS AIG KNEW BETTER

AIG accused Bank of America and its Countrywide and Merrill Lynch units of misrepresenting the quality of mortgage-backed securities, including more than $28 billion it bought, and lying to credit rating agencies about the underlying loans.

According to its complaint, AIG examined 262,322 mortgages that backed 349 offerings it bought between 2005 and 2007. It said the quality of 40.2 percent of the mortgages was significantly inferior to what had been represented.

"Defendants were engaged in a massive scheme to manipulate and deceive investors, like AIG, who had no alternative but to rely on the lies and omissions made," said the complaint, filed on Monday in the New York State Supreme Court in Manhattan.

They call often and at early hours, even on weekends. Last time I picked up and the guy asked for someone who no longer lives here and he said he would enter my number for that person as a no good number. That doesn't mean they won't call me. I know you can block 800 numbers with *77 but it seems to also block some of my friends on their cell phones and one relative that has an 800 number. Just let the answering machine get it. These folks are not as obnoxious as those who want to sell me a car warranty and just keep talking into the machine; or the ones that want to help me with my credit (no thanks!). Gee I already dread the next political season. Those are the worst!

If you have Time Warner Digital Phone, Anonymous Call Reject allows you to block calls from callers who restrict sending their Caller ID information. Often “Anonymous” is displayed for these callers. To use this feature:

Dial *77 to activate and wait for the confirmation tone.

All unidentified calls will then be rejected.

You must Dial *87 to deactivate this feature

This is a debt collection company specializes in buying old charged-off debt and threatening people by phone to pay up on it or else someone will show up at their door with a summons for a lawsuit. In my case they called my dad (who is 77) and threatened to serve him with a lawsuit even after he told them repeatedly that he wasn't me and had given them my number and address multiple times. From what I have read online in most cases the debt they call about is PAST THE STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS FOR COLLECTION IN YOUR STATE. Do your homework before you talk to them! They have to give you written notice of you debt, tell you who the creditor was, the date, etc. and cannot threated legal action if they are not going to follow through. They have been reported to the Texas OCCC and the FTC.

I just received this new phone number from Comcast several days ago. This morning I received three different calls from telemarketers saying I won a prize from the numbers listed on here. They received our number from a database. They collect numbers that are published. If you want your number to be unpublished you need to pay Comcast $1.50 a month. Also, here is a tidbit that I hope will help you! If you dial *60 you can turn your phone on to screen calls. You can also enter in their phone numbers to have them blocked on your phone so they won't be allowed to call you. If you dial *77 you can block people with blocked, private or undisclosed phone numbers from calling you. I hope this helps!! :)

This was a recorded message for obtaining credit.

I have Insight VOIP. I called Insight to complain about this number coming in. They said I can activate Anonymous Call Rejection (Block numbers that do not display caller ID) by dialing *77.

However, it will NOT block 663-000-5545. In this case, I can block them by dialing *60 and then enter their 10 digit phone number (include area code even if it is a local number). However, based on the information below, they only call infrequently and randomly so they probably won't use the same number again to call me. UGH! WE NEED TO GET GOVERNMENT OFF THEIR **S AND STOP PUTTING REGULATIONS ON HONEST PEOPLE AND COMPANIES AND GO AFTER THE REAL CROOKS, SPAMMERS, AND THIEVES.

Utterly, wretchedly unintelligible message recorded by ... well, it's hard to describe. Female, near-Latino accent, speaking rapidly in monotone, not even sure it's any known human language, or spoken by a robot. The end bit naturally sounds closer to English: the mangling of a target debtor's name and an eleven digit sequence "800-441-803-77" before an abrupt disconnection. This was the first contact from Nationwide Credit, (NCI) a known repeat offender of FDCPA regs.

The more I replay this the less sense it makes. The verbal obfuscation is typical of trashy debt buyers. They want me all confused and upset and ready to do as they demand. As it later turned out, the mystery sequence is a return phone number, or was meant to be, minus the second "eight", matching a phone number used by NCI.

If you hang up on this guy or call him out for the criminal that he is, he will call back again and again. Usually it comes through as unknown name and unknown number. Once it showed this number. A web search shows this number is responsible for a variety of rip off attempts. He originally claimed to be calling from the U.S. Post Office in Washington then reverted to profanity when I didn't believe him. We had to block the calls with *77

This is a professional non-profit organizational group, for the VA. I know two of my employees whom work for me, that have given to this orginization, and have both come to find out that the $30.00 that each of them have contributed to them, $1.77 of each total has actuall made it to the individuals that they say they are helping. I haven't ever ran or started a non-profit org, but I would think that out of $30.00, only $1.77 is making it's way to the people they SAY they are humbly serving, seems a little wrong, so If I were you, I wouldn't give a penny to this FOR-profit scam!!

MISSION AND PROGRAMS
Mission
The American Institute for Cancer Research (AICR) is one of the nation''s largest cancer charity, focusing exclusively on the link between diet and cancer. The Institute provides a wide range of consumer education programs that help millions of Americans learn to make dietary changes for lower cancer risk. AICR also supports innovative research in cancer prevention and treatment at universities, hospitals and research centers across the U.S. The Institute has provided millions of dollars in funding for research in diet, nutrition and cancer.

Programs
AICR's operating programs focus on research grant funding and public education. The Institute has channeled millions of dollars into investigations of the diet-cancer link. These dollars have fostered research at leading universities, hospitals and research centers throughout the U.S. and around the world. With the nation's most extensive program of publications on diet, nutrition and cancer prevention, AICR has distributed millions of AICR educational booklets and pamphlets to the public, and hundreds of thousands of copies of reference works from AICR have reached health professionals. Nutrition seminars, public service announcements and other consumer-targeted programs help to further promote AICR's message that diet plays a major role in cancer risk.

Additional Comments from the Organization
AICR educational programs for cancer prevention have gained recognition from many sources, including numerous awards. Recent recognition includes the National Health Information Awards and APEX awards. In 2003, The American Dietetic Association Awarded AICR its President's Circle Nutrition Education Award.

GOALS AND RESULTS
Accomplishments for Fiscal Year Ending December 31, 2006
Since its inception, AICR has granted a total of more than $83 million in diet and cancer research funding.

It also reaches the public through the media, generating 8,000 newspaper and magazine articles a year on diet and cancer. It's award winning website, www.aicr.org draws between 60 and 90,000 visitors a month.
Objectives for Fiscal Year Beginning January 1, 2007
AICR will continue to fund cutting edge research in the area of diet, nutrition and cancer, focusing on prevention, treatment and survivorship.
AICR will contine to distribute its quarterly newsletter to more than 1.6 million housholds.
AICR will continue to be the primary resource for diet and cancer information for consumers, journalists, health professionals and educators.
Self Assessment
The Institute's grant review process is one of only a few to have earned the approval of the National Cancer Institute. The grant review panels are an important part of the success of the research grant program. It annually runs the International Research Conference on Food, Nutrition and Cancer, which draws up to 500 researchers and practitioners to discuss advances in this essential but specialized field. Balance Sheet: Fiscal Year Ending September 30, 2008
Note: The balance sheet gives a snapshot of the financial health of an organization at a particular point in time. An organization's total assets should generally exceed its total liabilities, or it cannot long survive, but the types of assets and liabilities also must be considered. For instance, an organization's current assets (cash, receivables, securities, etc.) should be sufficient to cover its current liabilities (payables, deferred revenue, current year loan and note payments). Otherwise, the organization may face solvency problems. On the other hand, an organization whose cash and equivalents greatly exceed its current liabilities might not be putting its money to best use.

Received 2 calls today from 551-322-9000, first time the woman hung up on my husband, second time I answered and the caller said that he knew I had been on the internet, etc, I was like WHAT?, I told him not to call my telephone number again and to remove me off their list, but he had hung up on me. You can't call the number back because its not in order. I believe it does have something to do with the acai berry or diet berry website. I tried the *77 and we will see if it blocks their calls.

Answer the phone - nothing but dead air on the other end. Call the number, nothing but message stating that the number is not valid. Called the phone company, operator confirms it is not a valid working number therefore they are using technology to "fake" a number for called ID purposes. I have Time Warner Cable for my phone and they suggested using *77 to activate a blocking feature so that only calls with valid known numbers will ring through. That means anyone with a "private" number on their phone can't call through without first dialing a code and my number. I am on the DO NOT CALL list but that doesn't matter in this case. I have filed a complaint with the FCC (suggest you all do the same) - here is the web site: http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm
Contact your state attorney generals office to file a compaint and in this case, would suggest contacting the state AG's office for NJ as well. These people need to be stopped. Once prosecuted, they should be made to sit in a cell with a phone that rings every 60 seconds, every day for about 4-5yrs straight and be forced to answer everytime. Nothing like a taste of your own medicine.

Started to receive blocked calls on 9/25/09. Used the *77 (block calls with out caller ID ) That worked for a day until they used Holladay UT and 801-943-0000 for called ID. The last four are bogus just to by pass the the *77 block. However you can use (and pay for) *60 which will block specific numbers. One person commented here that on Nov 26 2008 they left a call back number of 1 800-357-2274. I will give it a try.

Recording identifying it was a telemarket call for septic services, before same caller was for insurance.
A) PRESS 9 TO REMOVE FROM THEIR LIST

Here's how to trace them up:

2) http://www.numberinvestigator.com/phone/561-253-1135.html (that jives well)
3) http://www.numberinvestigator.com/trace-success/5612531135/n (good good it matches)

And look! Health Plans and Septic Services (what a healthy combo)

So visiting here (I use FireFox with Javastop and Adblock Plus installed, I wouldn't suggest this next link at work or using Microsoft Internet Exploder. *POP* *POP* *POP UP ADS*)

http://selectivehealthplans.com/ (I suppose keeping my crapper clean is a selective health option?)

OY! A site parking service for the domain name. Even looking at the page source code (CTRL+U in da Fox) indicates it's only parked...

Well, that website was bunk anyhow, so, let's verify the registration with WHOIS and NETCRAFT for some internet based details in case there are OTHER numbers we can leverage to fight back this ROBODIAL spam? Shall we?!

NETCRAFT INFO:

I just wanted to add this phone number 876-295-4919. I already posted under a different number that uses the same caller ID which is CB KINGSTON. These morons from Jamaica are harassing my 77 year old mother. She could not understand what they were saying and he yelled at her and told her to "shut up and listen to what he had to say". She told him not to call her again and she hung up. They constantly call and harass her. He even left a nasty, filthy and threatening message on her answering machine. She called the police and they heard it and made out a police report but said there is not much they can do about it. My mom has an unlisted phone number and is on the do not call list so I want to know how they got her number. I am sick of these idiots harassing my elderly mother. She is afraid to answer her own telephone. I am reporting these CRIMINALS to everyone I can find. The FBI. Department of Homeland security, television news, newspapers, online and anywhere else I can find someone to listen. They must be stopped. And as I said before they better hope someone else finds out who they are before I do. I traced the phone number and it shows up as a cell phone in Trinity, Jamaica. Do not talk to these lunatics if they call you. THEY ARE SCAMMERS!!!!! I would not answer any call from the 876 area code.

On Wednesday August 26, we received a call at 18:55
from NAME: unavailable (seems a popular name these days on the phone!!)
and NUMBER: (here's a little twist on this taped message the other people commented on:)
77#-733-6385. The message is same as mentioned here. Now, it has been a few..months since the bailout so why now? I realize 'surveys' do not fall under the telemarketing donotcall, but....really, area code 77#????
The thing is our household DOES have something to do with the auto industry so I was wondering what this is really all about. New legislation should be introduced to include this type of stuff. They are indeed a nuisance and someone is going to get hurt rusing to pick the phone, thinking it is their relative or so and it will only be this. I am going to try now the proper area code here. We are in Ontario, Canada.

My 77 year old mother is receiving harassing phone calls from one of these 876 numbers. When she told them to stop calling her he started cussing at her. She hung up on them and they called her back and left a nasty, filthy and threatening message on her answering machine. She called the police and they listened to it and said there is nothing they can do about it. He did take a police report. I am sick and tired of these people harassing my elderly mother. I am going to report these idiots to the FBI, Dept. of Homeland Security, the local news and anybody else I can think of. We need to find out as much on these scammers and harassers as we can and put an END to this. The calls are coming from Jamaica. The phone number is 876-295-4919. The caller ID says CB KINGSTON. Do not talk to these people!!!! It just fuels them even more. There offers are scams. All I can say is they better hope somebody else finds out who they are before I do. My mother was in tears and is afraid to answer her own phone. We must stop these people.

Claimed to be from Nationswide Financial Services and wanted to help me reduce my credit card interest rate. Claimed to represent all 77 FDIC banks. When I asked to be removed from call list, I was told that she could not nor could her supervisor. I laughed and then hung up. I assume it is a shady if not fraudulant call.

They don't listen. I have a warranty for 10yrs and the first time I mentioned that to them and they hung up on me. I thought that should end it! But no, now they are calling again! Both times they were rude. I understand they have a job to do but they should still show respect in manner and listening to the wishes of ppl. Oh and the last two numbers were 77 on my call. Or it would just show up something like 3118 instead of a number. Jerks!!!

this guy has been calling me on & off for months! sometimes up to 10 times a day!!!I think he is "spoofing" this # but I have found a way to cut him off & I want to share with all of you out there. *77-that's right-*77. *77 blocks unidentified #s and gives a message that your # no longer accepts unidentified #s. dial *77 and all will be explained to you and you will also be informed how to reverse *77. my service provider gave me this tip when I complained to them about "Gabriel" or whatever name he is using this month. I highly recomend *77

Initial call got blocked as they were trying to hide who they were; using call routing to display a local number. A neighbor came by 2 days later stating they received a call from same company on my behalf. Telling them I had called this company back in Dec and they were now trying to reach me to lend me some help. Having now done Internet searches and knowing I didn't call this company, I believe they're a very devious Credit Recovery Service. My searches returned a relationship to Citibank's Credit Card Service; I owed them before becoming disabled. Based on their actions and everything else, I can only assume this is whom the number belongs to. The actual company name is DuPont De Nemours, it is not DuPont Chemical; they designate "E I" in their name. They're also using a Toll Free number; 800-866-5317; if they can leave a message. If you're on Verizon and want to activate Call Block; wait for dial tone, press Star Key followed by 77, then hang up. Press the Star Key and then 87 to deactivate it.

This is from Readers Digest. They sent me a bill for $77. I never even ordered their
magazine. Never read it, never will. They must be desperate to send out bills to people
who didn't even order their magazine. I believe this is some type of scam. If I can get
a number, I'd like to report them

A week ago there was a message on my recorder from(Out of Area) giving my name and said if I was this person to call 800-225-5050 (Riddle & Assoc.)and left a ref #. I place the call back from my Employment and ask what this was about. Ask for last number of my SS#, I said no. Hung up on me. I call back and told the young man to listen to me that he was required by Federal law to put the debt in writing and sent it to me,very rude, wouldn't let me finish, talking at the same time, then hung up on me. Same thing the 3rd time. I put in *77 to block out of area calls, worked for about a day then some way the calls came thru. I plan to change my number, report them to Utah Attorney General, Federal Trade Commission, Florida Attorney General, A TV station in my area that loves to look into these thing and report on them, and the local newspaper to alert everyone to these Arseholes. They are trying to get monies from anyone who is afraid of a unpaid debt. It is so sad for this to be in the USA, free country??, on a phone that "we" pay for!! What the hell is wrong with our government, state and federal.

What can you do if you believe a debt collector violated the law?
You have the right to sue a collector in a state or federal court within one year from the date the law was violated. If you win, you may recover money for the damages you suffered plus an additional amount up to $1,000. Court costs and attorney' s fees also can be recovered. A group of people also may sue a debt collector and recover money for damages up to $500,000, or one percent of the collector' s net worth, whichever is less.

Can you stop a debt collector from contacting you?
You can stop a debt collector from contacting you by writing a letter to the collector telling them to stop. Once the collector receives your letter, they may not contact you again except to say there will be no further contact or to notify you that the debt collector or the creditor intends to take some specific action. Please note, however, that sending such a letter to a collector does not make the debt go away if you actually owe it. You could still be sued by the debt collector or your original creditor.

I have gotten 7 phone calls in less than 48 hrs from "out of area" This must be debt collectors new way of preventing an individual from blocking the call. starr 77 does not block this call. I tried to trace it and I might have waited too long because the message said tracing could not be completed. They leave no message. I answered it today and I said nothing not even hello. I waited to see if they would say anything and a woman spoke my name then dead silence and she hung up.- Last night I picked up and told them I was tracing the call and they had better stop or I would sue. 1. It is against the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act for a debt collector to harrass you. 2. They can be sued 10,000 per phone call if they continue to harras after you have informed them to stop. 3. They must tell you who they are, what they want what the call is in reference to, and they must put everything in writing. Look up the FDCPA and read it. It will save you a lot of hassle and it will also inform the predcatory debt collection agencies that YOU KNOW THE LAW!

Save yourself the hassle of checking your caller ID....block unwanted phone calls with "star" 60 if you have the number. Use "star" 77 for unknown caller and number. Healing Minds has expanded with more numbers and rude employees. I hope to never hear from them again after three years and I thank my phone service for all records...I could easily sue. Instead, I filed a complaint with the FCC.
