I got a call from these people claiming grandiose software and hardware deals, I asked if they could beat Newegg's prices and they didnt even hesitate with a "Yea, big time!" Which I then knew it was a sham since nobody can do that "Big Time"... So I asked for them to send me info to my "special email account" I have for correspondence with people I am leery of. And made sure I got all their contact info including the telemarketer's extension number and code for the site to make sure they got credit for the sale, this way they might mark me down as sale pending and leave me alone for a while.

Got a call today, caller ID said MICROSTAR SOFTW. Just clicked to "answer" the call and immediately hung up. Later called the number back. They identified themselves as Crystal _____ (forget what they said), and said to press a number to hear about their current offer. Did that, and they said to leave my name and phone number and they would call me back (yeah right, I was going to do that). So I called back and hit the number choice to be removed from their Do not call list. Well, I'm already on THE Do not call list, but I pressed the number anyway. Again, I had to leave a message with my phone number for them to "honor" my request. Left them a message that I had just read something on the internet about their scam (was on the Facebook page for AVG Anti-Virus), and they should be ashamed of themselves, and they weren't getting my phone number. BTW, AVG says they are calling victims and getting them to install malware that compromises their machines, by convincing them they have a virus or malware. Grrrrrrrrrrr, hate these jerks.

This company won't stop calling me trying to get me to sign up for the "no-risk" 30 day trial of free software for $19.95. They also claim to partner with Dell to provide discount ink cartridges and toner. They refer to a website to shop... www.shopcv.com

They also claim to partner with Dell to provide discount ink cartridges and toner - They are not authorized by Dell to sell anything!

They called me asked for me by first name...I said yes then the guy continued to say this is Crystal vision software, you recently purchased print master. I told him no I haven't purchased print master or anything else like that. then he said oh no I'm not saying you purchased it, we have over hundreds of products. Then he tried to say i updated something, purchased something, and/or installed something on my computer. I told him No I have not. And then he said oh you haven't we'll let you go then and hung up. I was like what in the world.. See on caller ID it shows up microstar software and the guy on the other ends says, Hello this is Crystal Vision Software. Basically he tries to con you into buying something without you even realize it. Don't buy anything from microstar software or crystal vision, from what i've read they are scam artist. They con people into purchasing items that they can't even use on their own computers. because the item is waaay outdated.. i mean like items for window 3.2 and windows 98.. not very many people have window 3.2 or 98... plus most people now days go to walmart or another local store or to dell or some place like that to buy ink and other software products.. so people please don't fall for the stupid people from microstar software or crystal vision software.. they are just rip offs.

Just received call for my wife, stated call was from an instal of Broderbund software and our interest in discounts on computer stuff. We haven't bought or installed a Broderbund software for 3 years. The offer to join online buying club for $19/99 then get a $20 instant online coupon for first purchase. She did mention after 30 day trail period will be billed $59 onetime for life membership fee. Her return phone @ given is 1-800-444-1343 x 26 for Francis. The prom code for web is KNL. When I question hesitation I was given a number to verify with Broderbund softwared, 800-395-02777, enter 1 then 1 -> I called and a Broderbund CSR advised me Crystal Vision is one of the company's business partners.

The website www.shopcv.com looks odd - so not thanks! Reported via *57, Call Trace!

they almost had me until I googled and saw all the complaints right there with their search result. Come to think of it why else would some one call you unsolicited with a fantastic offer if you've never heard of it before. Us cheap Canadians are all over discount sites with quality goods. Shopcv is not one of them. If their product is so good you should never have to pay for before you can see what you are getting into. My experience with any telemarketing company is once they have your money, you are done. You'll walk from the $20 or $50 rather than exhaust yourself trying to get them to send you money back. I too was solicited because I bought Broderbund software and the scam lady told me they were actually Broderbund.

So while I am sitting around doing nothing a just a little board I call there tech support at 800-444-1343, and just see how long I can keep them on the phone. PS never talk about their software and in anyway agree to or think about trying there products. It is possible to end up unknowlingly buying some. PS Wish I had selective call forwarding.

Called right after 305-836-7371 Same people as the above phone. Please read below.
Was told by the local phone company to dial *57 after each call of this nature and report to the FBI online fraud site, and local police department to have on record. The caller from our tracing and research is someone claiming to be another business so they can get you to answer credit card violations that you owe. This is fraud of representation via the phone companies policies and most of you are probably not the culprits but someone had your number before you did and never paid their bills and is in claims.
We are an online business www.raesinimages.com and this is our business line they call and we don't have credit problems lol.

These a-holes were calling several times a week. They avoid the DNC list by claiming you are a customer. I found the perfect solution to the problem, it called Selective Call Forwarding (thank you AT&T). My 10 Call Blocker numbers were used up so I added their number to Selective Call Forwarding. Here is the best part, I am having their calls (and 9 other unwanted telemarketers) forwarded to 800-777-4228 which is the toll free number of Microstar. UP YOURS MICROSTAR!

If you ever ticked off a box somewhere to take advantage of software deals, maybe through visiting a Broderbund site through Creating Keepsakes or other software you may have, then I believe this company may contact you if you want to get involved with a deal they have. I am not sure how good the deal is, but the trial offer is $19.95 for one month to look at their site, and they give you a 20 dollar coupon to use on the site. At the 30 day point, they will automatically charge you 49.95 for a lifetime membership with them. So if you are not happy with what you see on the site, then you should call them before the 30 day point to withdraw. However, you may want to try to get the 20 dollars worth of stuff (which for me included 5-6 dollars in shipping, so you might only have 15 dollars worth of product. The company they sell their product under is www.shopcv.com. The website was down on Dec 12, 13, and 14, 2008, maybe due to icestorm in California (ha ha). I'm checking it out, and hope they are not bogus operation.

Caller ID says Crystal Vision. High pressure selling. Wants credit card number over phone or log on to shopcv.com and put info on web site. I declined as I saw other listings on google for shopcv scams. The call comes in almost every day. I wonder if Broderbund Software knows they are harrassing their customers.

You can call their 800 number and leave a message in Stephen Benedict's voice mail box. Just follow the voice prompts to leave a message in a specific voice mail box. I suggest you do it. I'm sure ol' Stephen wants to hear from each of us since his company call us so often. Perhaps we should all leave him a daily message. His scam company has no problem calling my answering machine on a daily basis. Might as well return the favor.

703-398-0839 - NRA (June 7,8,9,10 of 2008) I started getting these NRA calls after "Heather from Account Services" stopped calling. These individuals have called 4 times this week looking for "Mike". The past few times I've told them either to stop calling or that "Mike" was dead. Today when they called, we played along to see what the scam involved. They were seeking credit card info to update "Mikes" NRA membership. Also, they informed us that if we did so immediately, we'd get a new leather jacket. WOO HOO! On a positive note, I talked with my phone carrier who informed me that there was NOTHING they could do and I should have my number changed. Gotta love the service.

They called me yesterday and I didn't make it to the phone. They called again today. He said they had gotten my number when I bought some children's Reader Rabbit workbooks from the Learning Company. He said I had marked in my profile that I would be interested in discounts on computer items and that was why they were calling. He asked if it was OK. And I said no I was not interested and I had probably assumed in marking that it would be done through emails not on the phone.

I received a call from them today and was told that they had gotten my name and number from when I registered a Broderbund software product. BUT, I did not register the product. She sent me to a web page (www.shopcv.com) and directed me to the page to enter my credit card information. I told her that I had just cancelled my credit card due to some fraudulent charges on it. She then asked me if I had a debit card. I told her yes, but I never use that number online and that I also never give any credit card numbers to someone unless I contacted THEM. She just said "I'm sorry to hear that" and hung up. This comes on the tail of dealing with a DVDDonkey fraud and my visa number being used for online purchases. Beware. I would never deal with anyone who contacts me and wants my credit card info. I'm also on the Do Not Call list, but somehow these folks got my number (and my name).

Called twice and they just hung up after 15 seconds of silence. Checked this website and saw that the phone number has to do with Broderbund. I bought some software from them and returned it last week so that could be why they are calling, but they just keep hanging up after I say hello. I went to the Broderbund website and logged in. From My Account I was able to change my preferences, which by default included letting them share my address and email address. I also changed my number with them to my home number so they won't keep bugging me on my cell phone.

Caller said he had a wonderful membership opportuinity for me to buy brand new, name brand ink cartridges for my HP printer at wholesale prices. I needed to join their "buying club" and then I could purchase all kinds of items from computer hardware to mp3 music players at true wholesale prices. A lifetime membership was only going to cost me $49.95 and I could get a 30-day trial membership for just $19.95. Caller was a smooth talker and wouldn't take no for an answer. I finally had to tell him to leave me alone, and hang up on him. Research with the Better Business Bureau in San Diego, California confirmed that the business has many names, but is run mostly by a guy named Stephen H Benedict. Some of the names used by this outfit are: Micro Star Software, Crystal Vision Software Services, CrystalVision, The Software Directory, The Online Superstore, and ShopCV.com. As near as I can tell the name of the game is to sell you a "lifetime" membership for just $49.95 and then send you monthly shipments of Shareware Software on CD. As you know most shareware is free to try and it can be downloaded for free from many places on the Internet. In my opinion the whole thing is a scam. Go to the San Deigo Better Business Bureau (BBB) (http://sandiego.bbb.org) and search for one of the business names above. Then you can read what I read and make your own decision about who and what they are.

This company represents Broderbund software, i.e., Print Shop, etc. If you registered on-line, they are calling because you checked off that you were interested in hearing about discounts on items for your computer. All you have to do is say, "I do not remember checking that option off and no thank you or that you are not intersted." They will nicely end the call. It's no big deal. Answer the call and just tell them you are not interested. At least all of you who posted on here know that they are connected somehow to Broderbund software - Print Shop and Print Master software.

First call from them rec'd today. I have purchased Broderbund products, but it was several years ago! Guess you never get off the list. They did not leave a message. Caller ID said Microstar Software....we got involved in a software scam a few years ago from a company called Software Direct, and it took us at least 2 years to get out of that, so beware!

Check out the Better Business Bureau in California for Crystal Vision Software. If you are getting too many calls from them, you can add a complaint with the BBB. This company seems to be known for its bad business practices.

Good News! You can call these people and make them pay for the call. They have a toll-free number, 1-800-444-1343. The company is Microstar Software and they can put you on their "Do Not Call" list. Using the toll free number costs them money, so talk slowly. The longer you talk the more it costs them.

Don't know why they called. This number IS ALREADY ON THE DO-NOT-CALL list. We do not answer blind calls.
If they want to talk to someone here, they should IDENTIFY THEIR COMPANY AND REASON FOR CALLING FIRST.

They are from Borderbund Software company...comes up Microstar Software on caller ID. I just purchased and installed label making software from them. Evidently somewhere in the registration process, I agreed to accept calls about "new and exciting products" from their companies. I guess I wasn't paying attention when I registered, or they slipped it in, because I don't usually agree to be contacted by any company in a telemarketing capacity. Oh well. They call about once a week, and I usually don't answer. They have only left one message since they started calling about a month ago.

Many people have stated that they are on a "DO NOT CALL " list.....that is fine, however, if you have purchased software from this comapny, and registered with them, they are allowed to call you. As I was lead to understand (and I may have been told the wrong thing), the DO NOT CALL registry is only good for companies who do not have a relationship with you. A comapny that you have a business relationship with (like purchasing and registering software) is allowed to call you. If you haven't purchased (or installed) any software recently, then they may be in violation.

Eventually I will get sick of them calling, and I will actually tell them to stop. Until then I just ignore them.

I registered a software program about a month ago and received a call from 760-930-3472 for the first time today Nov. 7, 2007. My account profile with Broderbund indicates that I do not want to receive any phone calls, emails or offers by mail from them or their affiliated companies. I went ahead and changed the phone # I had listed on my profile to a dummy number. Hopefully, I will not receive anymore phone calls.

Caller ID said "California" I did not answer; no message left. Reported number to National Do Not call registry. Their comment that you have to leave a message with your name and number is bogus; they can claim a business relationship with you if you do that, and the National Registry does not apply.

I have spoke with them microstar software numerous times, they claim they can save you money of software, ink and computer stuff. I must say I don't approve of their sales tactic's. Though the young lady is vewry nice, i'm tired of talking to her.

These morons just called me too, and left no message. It has to be for Broderbund, because I too just registered their crappy software (which alas doesn't work and is currently residing in the bottom drawer of my desk).

I have been receiving these calls too. After reading this site I emailed Broderbund and told them about this problem since it most likely came from there company. Let's see if it helps. We have an unlisted Vonage number that only give to select companies so I know they aren't going thru a phone book.

Recd call while doing chores, ran to get the phone by the 3rd out of 4th rings, the caller hung up. Googled the number and it is for a software company named CrystalVision, which has been sued several times and lost by the FCC and other agencies. I called their toll-free number 800-877-4228, spoke with "Tracy" who said it was a "sales call". I replied we are on the Do-not-call list, so such calls should not be made to my number. Left my number with her to "remove" from calling list. Seems to me they should be checking this information BEFORE making any call outs.

This company is connected to Broderbund Software, the company that manufactures The Print Shop and Print Master. No big deal. I answered and the woman merely stated why she was calling and I simply told her I was not interested. Call handled within 1 minute. Real simple!
