I do not answer these type of calls. Caller left a message. Identified from the Norfolk, VA area. Advised that if I did not return the call, they would be proceeding with collection of a debt. SCUMBAGS. Bogus crap!
Portfolio Recovery and Anchor Receivables:
Call your local phone company to see if they have a service called "Call Intercept".. there is a monthly charge to have this service. With "Call Intercept", you can block any number in the United States. I have "Call Intercept" on my home phone thru Verizon and I am able to block 25 numbers. The person calling your number will get a recording saying "THE PERSON YOU ARE CALLING DOES NOT ACCEPT CALLS FROM THIS NUMBER, GOOD BYE." It's GREAT blocking Portfolio Recovery Associates from calling all day from different numbers. I am hoping that Verizon will extend call count from 25 to 50 numbers.
Called but no message. Portfolio Recovery has been calling me for months based on a debt my ex-wife ran up. I have tried to push them to go to court but they refuse. The last time they did so, on a differnt Credit Card, I responded as required by law and they didn't pursue it because they know they will lose. Seems they add a new number every few months. With modern technology, I am able to forward all their numbers direct to Voice Mail (never rings), so they don't even bother leaving messages anymore. Here are all the number I have collected:
I think that this number is one that they use for anonymous calls just to find out if one of their targets who's not answering calls from their primary phone numbers, is really there ignoring their other calls.
I've gotten to the point where I only answer calls from friends whose caller ID I recognize, everything else goes to voicemail.

is you call at least say something. This is my cell phone i am paying for a minute anyway.
Calls nearly every morning at about 8:30am MST
bugs me constantly over someone eles debt
Portfolio has called me numerous times daily seven days a week for over 3 years. In fact, they call me from countless telephone numbers. I will continue to let my answering machine take their calls, because my personal policy won't allow me to pay a fictitious debt to an obvious scam artist.
Been getting calls from these scumbags, they keep calling, i keep filing small claims, $3,000 later I am fine with it :)
Calling trying to find my loser of an ex husband. They did a little looking they'd find he doesn't even live in this town anymore. Next time they call I'm going to answer and give them an earful.
Called but left no message.

they call me 4 time today never leaves a message
I got 2 calls from this number in one day. The first call I missed in the morning, no message was left. The second call, in the evening, I answered but no one was on the phone, no answer, no noise. I called the number back. It is "Portfolio Collections", after waiting on the automated menu for about 2 minutes I was connected with a human operator. I was told that they were looking for some person other than me. I informed them that I was not him and I didn't know him and the operator/collector promptly stated that she was sorry and would remove my phone number from their calling list. Thanks!
Left message & says "this is a personal call for ____________ This is Miss Harrison. please call 1-866-909-0529
She didn't say so, but I know this is probably a COLLECTION AGENCY, as I have been on hard times, and I don't know anyone in this area code. Called twice within 5 minutes.
Called this morning at 8:15. I dont bother answering the phone anymore. If it is Portfolio as someone stated, I know its just bs
Calls once a day, sometimes twice. They never leave a message on the machine, nor have they said one single sound when I did answer the phone once. Don't think I'll try and answer it again in the future, since it sounds like either a scam, or they'd be harassing me over some debt my deadbeat ex husband has left hanging.
They are parasites. Don't even answer
I've traced it, like the Caller IDs say, to Norfolk, VA. There are only two things I'm aware of there that could have this widespread of a call area for that area code, one is a Naval station where Navymen often come home to, seems to be a major hub. Or I'm told there is a small FBI HQ there, which makes sense because of the hub. However I am no conspiracy nut it's just I'm sharing my experiences. If it is not a relay from a location outside of the USA then it is possible to build a case against them and shut them down. Unfortunately the "do not call" act in PA does not apply to businesses/people outside of the state.
They call 8 to 10 times a day never say anythings or leaves a message i'm very taired of getting these call as early as 7:30am until 10pm
This Portfolio Recovery Associates is a total scam operation.
Never, NEVER send them any money - it will only make your life worse!
Been calling for 2 years now. Haven't answered in that time nor will I ever answer. I swear if they miss a day I feel like calling them to make sure everything is OK
they call but leave no messages. I had to deal with them a while back. They call for a few weeks then if they get nowhere they go on to harrass someone else. They are "bottom feeders", buying junk debts (stuff that no one can prove or the statute of limitations are up) and try to collect on them, often using illegal means ("were sending the police over", "we have an arrest warrant out for you and will cancel if you agree to give us your banking information"). Best bet is to say "I am not familiar with this debt. Please send me proof and stop calling me until you send me the proof of the debt". Follow up with a certified letter if you can requesting the info and asking them to stop calling you, and keep a copy of the letter and the certified letter receipt so you can screw them if they refuse to comply. AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, NEVER ACKNOLEDGE THE DEBT, BECAUSE EVEN IF THE STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS ARE UP AND YOU SAY THE DEBT IS YOURE, THEN THE STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS STARTS ALL OVER, AND YOU SURE AS HELL KNOW THOSE SCUMBAGS WILL KEEP A RECORDING OF YOU SAYING THAT.

There is still also a derogatory picture of Muhammad on their website. As a Muslim, I am deeply offended by that and I have contacted them and asked them to please remove this picture off their website. I hope that they will do so or I shall contact them again.

I called the # left on my Caller ID and reached Portfolio Recovery Associates. I told that person who answered I do not owe anyone anything and any further calls from this # will be considered harassment. She asked if I am [name of a person I never heard of]. Supposedly, my phone # has been removed from their files. Won't hold my breath, though.
What can we do to stop this? It's ridiculous!

No message left. They call EVERY MORNING at about 8:24am, M-F. We got this number 2 months ago, and that is when it all started. Get a life.
I don't answer numbers I don't recognize and they don't leave a message. I know it's regarding a bill from at least 10 or more years ago.
The reason they can have different numbers and names show up on the caller ID they are using VoIP, which is calling over the internet. They can basically call you for free and just pay a monthly subscription fee. But the good news is you can do the same thing! Services like Skype are available for about $3 a month. The basic service lets you call out but you do not get a phone number with it. The calls are routed from overseas so you will have to let them know who is calling, it wont show up on their caller ID. You can download a free program called "Skype call recorder" from
download.com, which is handy to have when you talk to them. If you want to save time by returning all of their calls at once you can use the conference call feature. Just enter in a bunch of their phone numbers and hold the control button while you select them from the list. Please spread the word on this! Technology can work both ways!
I got so tired of hang-ups with no message and autodialer calls that I trained my cell phone not to ring for this (and their other) numbers. I use YouMail.com (free) to play a "custom greeting" just for them and then hang up.
Hey.. if the debt is over 7 years or at least 10 years old tell them to prove the debt. What was purchased when it was purchased. Otherwise they could be getting you to pay a bogus claim. I tried this once and picked a random number called it and acted like a pain in the ass debt collector and had the poor lady ready to send me a check for $200 bucks. ALWAYS GET PROOF!!
I dont owe anyone any money but they still call at first I played with them over the phone ,but now I keep a recording next to the phone when they call they hear (I dont owe you any money so kiss off and have a nice day) OR (Press 1 for english Press 2 if you know your partys extension number Press 3 to hear this menu again Press 4 if your still scracthing your head. The calls have slowed to maybe 1 a week but I look forward to them just so I can play my message to them. HAVE A GREAT DAY

This is a dept collection agency....called three times today!!! They leave no message and just keep on calling!
Received a call from them today about a credit card debt from 22 years ago! When I said I have no memory of this debt and had no intention of paying it the woman said they'd just keep calling me.
I receive every now and then from this number and another few number looking for some one???? Some personal business??? As most of receiver know they bought bad accounts, in which some are like mine? I have never ever taken any money from any one, always paid all my bills in time. I don't know who the hell they are keep calling and bothering WITHOUT INVESTIGATING OF PERSON'S HISTORY.
THEY ALL ARE LOW LOW AND LOW PAID EMPLOYEES WHO HAVE NO RESPECT OF THEMSELVES.
SO DON'T BOTHER YOURSELF EVEN ANSWERING THOSE PHONE.
These people call regarding an account on my wife from 12 years ago we had adjusted off due to a bankruptcy. What the heck-statue of limitations are over in the state of Texas!
This outfit started calling 2 weeks ago about a Capitol One dispute I had some 20 years ago -- I have had it confirmed that the so-called dept (services charges but never delivered) was written off some 10 years ago. Obviously these people buy list of accounts then turn on an autometed device to start the cllaing process --.
I do not answer callsfrom numbers I do not recognize..........
call twice a day - very annoying
Portfolio Recovery never leaves a message and calls from many, many numbers. Report every call.
They Want MONEY from you,,, a collection agency from Hades

Even after answering, they do not acknowledge the call. Very frustrating.
These people call and call and call and leave no message and I have no clue who they are! Very aggravating!
Don't know who this is and why they are calling. No one left a message.
