It is about creating anxiety and pressure, as you suspect, until the target is smoked out and dances for them. So far the strategy is working.

Call from a collection agency, manned by foreign morons, wanting my EX-son-in-law. I know they don't believe anything you tell them, but he really is my ex-son-in-law and he and my daughter have been divorced for over six years which makes me question the validity of the debt. All the heavily accented caller wants, apparently, is to confirm MY phone number. They call about three times a day and each moron says they will remove my number, but they don't. They aren't interested in his number or his mother's number, but just want to confirm that they actually called my phone number. Why?????

I got his and his family's numbers by quizzing my granddaughters which makes me feel awful, and I finally got the little hussy who called today to write them down. (Maybe) My only recourse seems to be to not answer when I see their number. This is a really stupid way to do business on their part and I can't imagine what they hope to gain from it unless they're hoping I put pressure on the ex-son-in-law. I don't talk to him and he lives five states away, judging by the area code.

Just send the cease-comm today, Jennifer. Your politeness moves them not. These are not reasonable professionals hounding you, they are collectors, trained to disbelieve anything you say which does not lead to a payment. I would also document the time and content of each call, in the event you later find they made FDCPA violations or they are stupid enough to ignore your written demand. (... for which you will want a delivery receipt)

I have received two more calls from these idiots--they called yesterday at 8:15 a.m., which, unfortunately, is legal. I told them yesterday they had the wrong person and to stop calling, but they called again this morning. I'll tell them one more time to stop--after that, I'm submitting the "cease and desist" letter. Considering that these folks have already had issues with the FTC, I'm not cutting them any slack.

They've called several times this week, and at least twice they've managed to get around my caller ID/privacy manager. The phone rings but the caller ID says "no calls." You can obtain the number by hitting *69. Weird. The guy who called me barely spoke English, and I wasn't even sure why he was calling. They are looking for someone with the same name, and I've learned the hard way it can be hard to convince these people that they have the wrong number.

Seems this collector has learned nothing from its FTC fine. Complaints should be filed there and with the relevant state attorney general to reinforce the lesson.

On Friday, November 12, 2010 I received a call from the number 732-941-0140 around 8:10 pm. When I picked out the phone, there was dead silence...just like all the other calls from this number. I called the number and it turns out they were looking for another person who owed money. I was taken off the call list and I asked to speak with a supervisor to complain about the frequency of the calls and how no one ever answered when I picked up the phone. The supervisor I spoke to interrupted me and began a diatribe of what here legal rights were and began argueing and yelling at me. She then banged the phone on the desk while yelling at me and hung up the phone. I tried calling back but operators would hang up on me. I finally got through to an operator supposedly named Tenisha. She yelled at me and told me to stop calling.

I ran the number through a search engine and saw a lot of people had simmilar issues with calls made from 732-941-0140. I found another OMS call center online and spoke with a supervisor named Omar, he was great.

I'm surprised at the level unprofessionalism, lack of control, and dis-respect displayed by the call center and supervisor at 732-941-0140. I'm also disturbed and genuinely concerned for the safety of my personal information which these women may have access to.

Recording said push 1 to speak to a person. Which I did and told the lady that I was on the do not call list and to not call me. She said well, it's an automated calling system. I said I don't care, take me off. She then repeated it was an automated calling system! I said Ok I'm reporting this, which I am. I owe no money to any debt collectors and they didn't ask for anyone by name.

The operators of a debt collection company that used false threats and other unlawful tactics to collect consumers' debts have agreed to settle Federal Trade Commission charges that they violated federal law. The settlements bar future violations and require the defendants to pay $225,000.

According to the FTC complaint, the defendants, who had about three million consumer accounts and collected debts in every state, falsely threatened that nonpayment of debt would result in garnishment of consumers' wages, arrest, or legal action.

Today 3/17/10, My office recived a call from this company. I told them they need to idenitfy their company infomation and to provide there FED/STATE REQUIRED BOND INFOMATION before I released any infomation to them.I was transfered to 3 people and the all were not able to provided the information I requested. VERY SHADY!!!!!!!! I will report this to the Fair Debt Collections Act I KNOW MY RIGHTS. THEY ARE IN VIOLATION also with the Federal Trade Commission. I have sent a Cease and Desist on all collection activity, now I will send another one by certified mail, so I can have a receipt of their signature. Maybe they will get the point!

got a call from this number, when I answered, i got a recorded woman's voice say " Hello" in my ear, then hang up... See also Oxford Management, 732-941-0140.. they are a bottom feeder debt collector, tht buys old out of date debt, then spend the afternoon dialing people trying to pester them into paying on debt, they may not owe...

I have not had any calls from this company but I have a friend that they called 7 times today. As long as they do not leave a message they are not in violation of FDCPA. I work in debt collections and our company follows the letter of the law plus--- They must be going on the theory that the one who calls the most gets the money. Maybe years ago, but todays consumers are different they want to pay there debts. Never would I ever disrespect any of my customers by calling that many times. I look at my work as being a helper---Helping them to get it paid, if I see that they cannot I may have to wait. Just to let you know I work secured accounts.
If someone is getting this many calls get a copy of the Fair Debt Collections Act see what your rights are. Violations need to be reported to Federal Trade Commission online. They can also send a Cease and Desist on all collection activity, mail it certified so you have receipt of their signature. If you get a copy of the FDCA you will see this.

I'm unlisted and on DNC list. I'm also in chap 13 so no one is supposed to call me. So it's BS. I shouldn't have any collections after me. Today was the first time they called so I answered, they hung up and no message.I'm going to re-list my number on DNC, From what I understand DNC is only good for 6 months. Their just rabid jerks!

We've had this telephone number for four years and have been called since day one asking if we are Sandra Raoul (sp?) and every time, for four years, we tell them we are not and nobody by that name lives here. We ask them to please remove our number from their list and try to find that person by other means. Oxford has now started calling, same scenarios as below...I've been told by them they will remove our number, they will take us out of que, luck. This morning after answering yet another of their calls the rep yelled at ME saying, "All you had to do is tell us that" and then hung up. I was so angry I called them and spoke with "Kelly - a Supervisor" who again raised her voice at me after telling me if I would've only done that the first time all of this would've been over by now. What a crock...obviously we're dealing with several different things here...people who don't pay their bills and make it bad for all the rest of us, AWFUL customer service from a company who does not care about their reputation and doesn't stand by its word to actually resolve the issue at hand - and my time wasted on writing this email and contacting our lawyer so that we may start the process to sue this company if we get another call!

They call two times daily usually in the morning and evening. No one is saying anything on their end and they will not stop calling ! As many complaints about these calls from this number 732-941-0140 it would seem the FCC and or the Attorney General would investigate and take legal action immediately. You cannot send them a registered letter to cease the calls because there is not immediate address.

They call and leave partial messages with a reference number and at times ask for someone who no longer lives at this address, there seems to be no way to make them stop, so rather than have the messages, I pick up and hang up.
