What Can You Do to Assist in Our Investigation?
If you have been the victim of this telemarketing abuse, preserve all facts and evidence of the unwanted calls or texts. Save the message. Most voicemail services only store messages for a few days or weeks. As a result, record the message in another place so that you have it. Save your phone bills which show when the call or text was received. Keep all evidence of the harassing calls or text messages.
Problem: Telemarketing Abuse
Consumers pay for calls and text messages received on their cell phones. More than ever, consumers are being harassed on their cell phones by telemarketers and businesses trying to sell goods or services. Unfortunately, these calls and text messages result in charges or a reduction in the consumers

I live in England and have been getting lots of calls from this number - have tried being polite have tried being rude but they don't seem to get the hint i.e. I DON'T want to talk to them - the calls stopped about a week ago so I wonder if Apllied Finance have finally left us in peace or will they just be phoning from a different number in future? Does anyone recognise the number 001-612-2569
958? As I have been getting calls from that number in the past week.
If you're on the National Do Not Call Registry, go to their website and file a complaint.
Called yesterday and today at 1:14 PM. I was sleeping both times, so i didnt pick up.
They claim to be "allied financial" wanting to discuss mortgages.
It's a mortgage loan company soliciting it's biz
shows up on my childs phone everyday for the past 2 weeks.
These people call me several times a day. I told the man to stop calling me after he asked to speak with the home-owner...and of course, he hung up the phone.
I have no idea who they are and they called me couple of times. And asking me about someone name called Edwards because Mr. EDWARDS gave this phone number and this is about mortgage and bla... bla....
Called back rang several times.... "Aplied Financial" . Young asian mans voice.
P.S- Phantombyte is more than correct about farming out call-centers to foreign nations. This is the way a short-circuit has been found to negate the Laws of this country, and the Govt. cares less - It is not to their purpose other than feed their budget and keep them in business- So just cool it and report ALL calls and move on -DO NOT get soo exercised over things, as it just ruins yourself and Heart and serves others purpose- Have phone Co. block this #.
ScooterPie Sep 12th, 2007
This outfit is just getting you people exercised for no reason whatsoever other than make a buck for themselves. They get paid by the # of calls they dial and nothing else, as their system only records the 3 of calls made on their line and nothing else. FTC-NDC agency, doesn't give a rats-rear about stopping or doing anything other than schmoze the public. You have no contact physically with the Govt. and the Govt. likes it that way - The same goes for cyber fraud and theft when someone gets you C/C # and rips you off for large bucks, and they do nothing about it unless figure is in excess of 6-figures.They have designed it that way! ! !. So it's like Bankers, Dr's, Lawyers,Women, and such, you can't live with them or live without them - Like sleeping with dogs, you're gonna get fleas, so contend with it and them. -A Retired Federal Law Enforcement officer

I get a call from this company at least 4 times a week if not more. When I do answer this call it takes a few moments for someone to respond on the other end. Today, the guy asked for one person in the household by name and then when told that person is unavailable he asks for the "homeowner". All I do is ask "Who are you and where are you calling from" and I keep asking this until he gives me an answer which annoys the heck out of him. He insist I requested his company call me and that I did it thru an email and that he has my IP address. He gets very insistant about it too! I told him he was wrong several times and to take me off his calling list all the while he insists I requested his services. I know that this is a bold face lie or he would know MY name!!! Should be interesting how long he will wait till he calls back again...My guess is about a week...How do you get rid of these jerks!!!They call at all hours of the day and night and several times a day if you make them mad.....They are so annoying!!!!
Be careful - I suspect that this number, which I get 1-2 calls from per weekday, is trying to fish for private info. Don't tell them who or where you are because they can then match your phone number up with other info they may already have about your identity!
I see that a lot of you are concerned about the do not call list not working. The reason this is not working is cause the caller is out of the country. A lot of internal us companies are now hiring out their call centers out of the country ... this is a big gaping loophole in the DNC list. I found this out once when talking with some indian guy who told me he would call me whenever and however many times he wanted too.
phantombyte Sep 08th, 2007
they have called twice in the last two days. When the answering machine pics up.. they just say "hello...hello?" I looked them up yesterday and when the phone rang again... I picked up the phone and said "I know who you are and what you do. Don't call here again!" the answering machine was still going and he once again said "Hello? ..hello?" lol

We've been getting calls from this # about 3-4 times a day, cant the phone company pull the plug on this #, its been going on for 2 years now
Dude, let's invade their country.
The buggers call every day, almost the same time every time and hang up or don't and leave any message.
Just got a call from ths number about 5 mins ago. Did a Google search and ended up here. It says it is a North Carolina call. when I answered there was brief silence and then they hung up.
I just called them. They are Applied Financial and they told me I was getting calls because I have a mortgage and they want me to refinance.
Called and left no messages. I am on the do not call list. It doesn't seem to matter to them.
Foreign lady with some finacial name looking for some unintellegable name . Wish she would learn English . I sleep days and she calls like evry half hour . I,m 50 and it sure makes it hard to stay awake at work . Cut your ringer off if you can . I have kids out of town so no good for me .
They call my cell every day, I refuse to ansewer and they will not leave a message. Tonight I answered before I looked and all I got was some Asian lady saying something that I could not understand.... Must be Al Qaeda.. :-)
Sounded Asian, could not understand them... wrong number?
It rings twice really quick, like when you make a phonecall overseas. I also got an Indian man saying it was applied financial.
Keep getting calls from this number no idea who they are. When you call back it simply rings.
Called back: MORTGAGE CRAP
I do not recognize this number. Before answer machine comes on they hang up.
hey called again today of course they didn't say anything.there must be something we can do.

I have been getting this call the same time every night
I got a call from them also. They have been calling for weeks. I finally got someone when I answered. The person sounded like they were either using a computer voice recognition software to communicate or some other gadget for disguising their voice.
They said they were from Applied Financial.
Caller: Hi I with calling on behalf of Applied Financial...
Bob: I am not interested
Caller: Can I ask why you are not interested
Bob: I am just not interested
Caller: There must be a reason....
Bob: Look just remove my number from your calling list...
Caller: Can you just tell me why you are not interested?
Bob: NO. Just remove my number from your list and do not call this number again.
Caller: Ok, but it will take a while for your number to be removed from the list
Bob-Da-Builda Aug 16th, 2007
Called claimed to be from Applied Financial, would not disclose address or direct phone number for the company, tried to get personal info and confirm that I had a morgage.
I just called them back & got a live person, but I couldn't understand a word he said.
I answered to tell them them to stop calling and they just hang up.
Said (in heavy accent) he was from a financial company and wanted to know my mortgage rate. I informed him he was calling a number on the "DNC" list and he abruptly hung up.
They spoke with an accent
I called the number back and got to speak with an Indian. They are a mortgage refinance company and I told him to stop calling.
I got a call on my cell from 704-800-9978 this past Saturday and it was a guy with an Indian accent, said his name was Max..he addressed me by name and then started asking me if I had a mortgage..I was like "get to the point, what do you want?" I told him I was at a friend's party and I didn't have time to talk...Then he said he was in Baltimore and asked for permission to come to the party...I thought he was someone joking with me..then I said "Do you realize that within ten minutes of hanging up this phone that I could have your name and location through a PI friend of mine? Who are you?" He quickly hung up. I noticed through some other posts the name Applied Financial in Baltimore for this number. Just checked. No such company. Sounds like an identity scam..just wondering how they got my name and cell number?
Company trying to refinace my house. said they were Online Finacial refinace
i called them today. i got a guy with an indian accent. he said something about refinancing a mortgage. he got my number and then wanted a name. i said jane doe. then he hung up.
This number calls my cell every day somethimes twice and hangs up befoer I can answer, I think because I have a ring back tone.
Just got my sixth call from these folks in a week...I keep letting the machine pick up and they never leave a message. I am also on the Do Not Call list although it appears not to be deterring these people.
called several times in the last few days. when i answered and asked who they were and what they wanted they hung up.
heres what I did, I called them back and hung up 5-7 times. stated some financial group
when answering phone.
A suggestion to all. this has worked for me to get them to stop calling:
The next time you get unwanted calls, answer the phone, as soon as they start talking, ask them to please hold for a minute (go watch tv or vaccuum or dishes or just sit a few mins) then come back on and ask them again what they wanted, when they start talking again tell them you are sorry could they please hold, and go do something else, then come back and say something like "so you want to give me money? you were calling becuase you have money for me?" and when they start talking again tell them to please hold and go off a few more minutes, it won't take long for them to hang up and believe me they won't call you back, they HATE being put on hold.
I got a call today from this number.
Once it said unavailable and second, it showed the number.
I picked up the first time and some guy asked if i was the owner of the home; I just hung up.
After reading all the posts again about this number, I have something to add. Many suggest filing complaint with donotcall.gov if registered. I have done this with every call I receive of this type. Nothing has ever been done. I am beginning to think that the Do Not Call list is a big joke!
Heavy Indian accent claiming to be "John Smith" (how many men from India are named John Smith, lol)with Applied Financial Mortgages. Told him to remove me from call list. Will see if they call back.
Isn't there some place we can complain to that will do something about these calls? Obviously the DNC list is worthless.
Caller ID said Charlotte NC...
Lisa in VA Aug 06th, 2007
they call sevral times aday mornings and nights they claim i own them money
Christopher Aug 04th, 2007
Indian man says, Rowe Finanacial or something like that. They like to pose as your mortgage company and start asking for personal information. They call at least 2 times a day.
they hung up at hello. I called back and it's some mortgage/financial services operation. By the thick Indian accents, probably outsourced to India.
My tween daughter's cell phone has gotten several calls from this number and she never answered it..they called today and i answered it and it was a guy with a heavy Indian Accent and asked if i was the homeowner and i told him to remove my # from their call list. I googled it and it brought me here
Have been calling us for months with no message left. Called them back and I could not understand the person on the other end of the call???
agree with this post:
The number 866-862-9873
is a call-center in India. They are acting as representatives of Applied Mortgage. The call-center is named Styx Infosoft Pvt. Ltd. The phone number 866-862-9873
is listed on their contact page http://www.azurecrm.com/contact_us.html
Styx Infosoft Pvt. Ltd.

Ahmedabad - 380 054,
i got a real person at that number and asked to be removed. they acknowledged the calls were coming from there and I told them if they didn't stop I'd have my computer call their 800 number ALL DAY AND ALL NIGHT (easily done with comm program set to infinite redial)
They've been calling me for a long time now, a couple times from the phone number 704-800-9978 and a couple times the number shows up as "Unavailable". Well after most of their calls, I have asked them to take my phone number off of their list. I've spoken to gentlemen by the names of David, Steven, and Jonathan. Each one of them was very rude, they kept assuring me that my name has been taken off their calling list, but some how they still keep calling me. The only information I've been able to get out of them is that they are supposedly based out to of Baltimore, Maryland. It is clearly a call center of some sort, because the ringer tone is clearly not that of an American one. Each time I call back, I have to block my number, because they will not answer my call once I've already called for the day. Guess they use caller-id too.
Called many times, leaves no message, hangs up if we answer. No idea who this might be
In the last few days I have gotten 3 or 4 or more calls a day with no message
Caller identified his company as A-something Mortgage, and wanted to talk with me about my mortgage.
I asked him to take my phone number out of his database.
Mortgage company...wanting to lower your mortgage rates...very rude!!
CALL CAME AND NOBODY LEFT ANY MESSAGE. CALLED ONLY ONE TIME.
How did this person/entity obtain my number? David Brown from Applied Financial headquartered in Baltimore, MD but the calls are originating from North Carolina. I had to call and have them remove my number off their marketing list.
Sometimes calls come from unrestricted number..sometimes this number. Never leave me a message however I have returned a call to see who it was (Applied Financial) and hung up. Called right back and got the same voice but a different first name who answered saying something about an appied mortgage...which I never applied for. Asked how my number was obtained and stated I wanted to be removed from their list...but calls continue to come.
I was sick of this phone # calling so I picked up and it's someone trying to sell mortgages. Never let them get to far before I said I wasn't interested. Could be fraud
Received the call 7-22-07 from a woman with an accent asking me if I had a mortgage on my house. When I said no, she hung up. I am on a no call list, so why am I getting these calls?
left no message

They call, but there is no answer
G Lombardo Jul 20th, 2007
My Cell phone rings 2 - 3 times a day for the last 3 days, I answer and there is no one there
call me constantly. no one on end when I rtn. cannot locate who owns the number.
They have been calling me two and three times a day without leaving messages. I finally answered the call this evening, and could barely understand what the guy was saying. I did finally catch that it was Applied Financial. It sounded like he was saying that they had my mortgage. I told them to take me off their list and never to call again.
When asked the person indicated he/she was calling from China. Purpose of call was to discuss mortgage. Informed they have an incorrect message.
They call several times a week. I have never answered. I have reported them to the national do not call registry. If you are registered with the national do not call registry, I suggest you do the same in order to stop them.
I called them after receiving a call from them which I did not answer. Asian male, answered 'Applied Financial'.
I asked for my number to be removed, he asked for my name and number and said he removed it and apologized for the inconvenience.
Will update if called again.
did not leave a message, don't know who they are, or how they got my number.
they come in as Private Name and do not speak and/or leave a message. When I called the number I get a "customer care" message to leave my name and number. Left message that I am on do not call list and am reporting them and hoping they get every fine that they deserve
Only one call. Does anyone have a regions bank account? Because they have called me with broken english trying to sell me a second morgage when i rent. LOL
It's a telemarketing co. out of S.E. Asia who works for (according to them) Applied Financial located in Baltimore. The calls are originated in Asia then routed thru North Carolina (that explains the 704 area code). They wanted me to give up a bunch of personal info then transfer me to a loan officer for a mortgage.
Got a call from "private name" 704-800-9978 on 7/10/07. I said I wasn't here & an older woman with a very heavy accent said she'd call back.
Aija Rabinowitz Jul 10th, 2007
Well, for all the good that did. I got someone with a VERY heavy accent so I couldn't understand much of what was said. I'm wondering if this phone company is some sort of front for the business. Hope somoeone else will try and let us know!
GRRRRRRRRR-3 Jul 10th, 2007
Ok, looked them up through the info I previously posted. After getting prompted to call several numbers. I finally talked to a real live person! I am not listening to "muzak". I don't know if I'm going to get any satisfaction but you can try too. Maybe if enough people call to complain, something will be done. 1-800-400-0446
. Been on hold so far for 10 minutes. Will post later if I get any information. Hey, I've got speakerphone, I can hold all day long!!!
GRRRRRRRRR-2 Jul 10th, 2007
Pi$$ing me off!!!
Going to try to report them to Global Crossing along with 'do not call' and attorney general. They must move around so they can't be located. I wonder if we can't get a lawyer to assist everyone to sue this company. Maybe they'd learn then!
Type: Land Line
Provider: Global Crossing Local Servcies, Inc
Location: Belmont, NC
Due to number portability, some numbers have been transferred to a new service provider.
GRRRRRRRRRR Jul 10th, 2007
oops, should have read some of the comments...I guess no conspiracy theory but I don't understand how they keep getting away with this since most of us seem to be on the 'do not call' list, and several of you have reported them to other agencies. I'm from PA and I know our government is often twiddling their thumbs but .. are they all?????
Called today, 1:43pm. I think they've called in the past. Today, they said, "Hello, may I speak to (what sounded like an actual family menber's name)" I told them they had the wrong number and hung up. Person definitely has an accent of some type. This is rather strange since it seems they must have to be paying for these calls. Hasn't someone (law enforcement) looked into this? I hate to act on 'conspiracy theory' but something is amiss! Like they're scoping out phone numbers and responses or something.
Victoria J Jul 10th, 2007
They called my 93-year-old mother in Wayne, Pa. and tried to get her confidence by indicating they knew her address and wanted to talk about a mortgage. I was listening to her politely dealing with the caller and getting increasingly suspicious. I talked to him after my mother gave me the phone. He had a heavy accent -- seemd West African, but I wasn't on long enough to be sure. It could have been south Asian, as the other posters indicate. I invoked the "do not call" list after he refused to give his phone number, though he did say his name was "Daniel Andorson" (sic, he spelled it twice) and his company was "Apply Financial."
Who has jurisdiction over this scam? North Carolina's AG? Pennsylvania's? The feds?
After a few month hiatus, they are back- always no message. If I am on the federal "do not call list", how/why do they keep calling?
They are Applied Financial a mortgage company out of Baltimore, MD calling from Charlotte, NC. Very sketchy people with heavy Indian accents. Probably a scam.
