Howdy Folks -
If your number has been on the National Do Not Call Registry for at least 31 days and you receive a call from a telemarketer that you believe is covered by the National Do Not Call Registry, you can file a complaint at the registry’s website at www.donotcall.gov or by calling the registry’s toll-free number at 1-888-382-1222 (TTY: 1-866-290-4236). To file a complaint, you must know either the name or telephone number of the company that called you, and the date the company called you.

I just started a new business. My home and cell phone numbers are now solicitation for fee numbers. I charge 25,000 dollars to call my number and 1,000 dollars a second. Have collected nothing so far but am in the process of suing one marketing company. they owe me 250,000 dollars for several unsolicited call they made. The beauty of this system is you don't have to post any notice. Just answer yer phone "solicitation for fee" There's absolutely nothing illegal about this at all but the trick is to get them to pay. I have a family member who is an attorney so the legal fees for me are nil. If this works I'll be emailing everbody in the world about how to beat these bastards at there own game. ANother thinbg I do is contact the company they are soliciting for and tell them I will never ever purchase anything from them or use any product or service of any company that services them... You'd think by now that these companies would be out of business but people still buy stuff from them.

Doing a reverse look up, it is attached to this name and address:

Others have said this is BMG or Columbia house, I will take action to be removed from their list.

-- My number is on the National Do Not Call Registry. After I bought something from a company, a telemarketer representing that organization called me. Is this a violation?

No. By purchasing something from the company, you established a business relationship with the company. As a result, even if you put your number on the National Do Not Call Registry, that company may call you for up to 18 months after your last purchase or delivery from it, or your last payment to it, unless you ask the company not to call again. In that case, the company must honor your request not to call. If they subsequently call you again, they may be subject to a fine of up to $11,000.

An established business relationship with a company also will be created if you make an inquiry to the company, or submit an application to it. This kind of established business relationship exists for three months after the inquiry or application. During this time, the company can call you.

If you make a specific request to that company not to call you, however, then the company may not call you, even if you have an established business relationship with that company.

As an FYI - just because you are on the National DNC does not mean no one can call you.

--If I register my number on the National Do Not Call Registry, will it stop all telemarketing calls?

No. Placing your number on the National Do Not Call Registry will stop most telemarketing calls, but not all. Because of limitations in the jurisdiction of the FTC and FCC, calls from or on behalf of political organizations, charities, and telephone surveyors would still be permitted, as would calls from companies with which you have an existing business relationship, or those to whom you’ve provided express agreement in writing to receive their calls.

I recently unsubscribed from BMG and then I started receiving these calls. D Field is shady business practice and I will be complaining to them. I did call the number back after reading this board and got an automated option board.

"Thank you for calling. We are calling on behalf of BMG and with an exciting bonus offer. Press 1 if you would like to be called back. Press 2 if you do not want to take advantage of this offer but would like to be called back with other special offers. Press 3 if you would like to be placed on BMGs DNC. This process could take up to 30 days and you may receive a call in error. If you do please tell the representative that you have asked to be placed on the BMG DNC list. Please distinctly leave your number and your name after the tone." (I'm paraphrasing a little because I didn't feel like calling more than twice to hear it.)

We'll see if I get any calls after this.

I just went to the BMG site to see what I could find and saw this: Phone calls:
o We also may call you with special offers, for example, to join one of our other clubs. If you do not wish to receive such phone calls please write us, including any and all club account numbers you have, at: BMG Music Service, P.O. Box 1958, Indianapolis, IN 46291-0010.

I don't think if you are on the DNC registry list that you should have to do this, but maybe it will help someone.

I get calls from them every day, sometimes twice a day. Mine always says D. Field. Today I just picked up the phone and didn't say anything, a guy finally said Hi, is Melinda there, he sounded a little surprised I hadn't said anything. I just waited until he hung up. If it is BMG or Columbia House it is enough to make me want to drop them. When I do a reverse search J. Smith comes up in Phoenix, AZ at the address someone else has given in the comments here. It's annoying, this one and another company call me on a regular basis.

Lost count of how many hangup calls came from this number. Reported them to DNC and whocalled every other time. This time I picked up and after they identified themselves (Columbia House) I told them I was not interested in anything they had to say and that they called everyday for the last several weeks but that I do not pick up the phone for unknown numbers. I told them to take me off their call list immediately and that if they called me again I would report them to the Do Not Call registry. They said they would make a note in their records and that it may take 30 days to remove me from their list. I WILL report them if they call again.

Caroline

You can report unsolicited calls on the DNC website at www.donotcall.gov/Complain/ComplainCheck.aspx

Or just go to the DNC website and click the link for Complaints on the left side. I do this with every single unsolicited or unidentified call I get. It keeps them from calling back eventually.
