These fools keep calling and won't answer my questions about who they are and what they want. The next call may get a "personal foul" whistle.

Got called 3 times on this date (numerous times before). I called back and reached a female who id'ed herself as "Katelyn". After she told me who they were trying to contact (not me) I told her to delete me from their computer database (that they had the wrong person or number). She said she would (guess I'll find out).

Angry Bird: You are wasting your time trying to set a verbal cease-comm. Mistrust of any ''wrong number'' claim is standard procedure at all the rogue collection agencies. First, send a ''cease communication'' notice via USPS Certified with return card. I mentioned this response in this thread fifteen months ago. Here's some more detail on how I tell collection agencies to shove off, in a comment from 29 August 2012:

877-305-2082) http://whocalled.us/lookup/877-305-2082

Second, I would save copies of all messages and make a careful review and detailed notes on every CCS call you've received, and continue making notes DURING the next calls. Clean audio recording will also help. As a ''not me'' case, you get limited protection under the FDCPA. You may have causes of action to sue for relief since the reps decide that browbeating and insulting you will get them paid faster.

I am so tired of the hang-up calls, multiple times per day. I have attempted to demand to be removed (phone number) from the list, but they keep asking for someone named Stacy Ashworth. I have attempted to explain (multiple times) that they have the wrong number. Each time, the caller accuses me of out & out deceiving the debt collector. When I try to tell them who I am, nor do I know the person that they are calling to speak about, they leave a message with the comment of "when you decide to stop pretending you are not who we KNOW you are and want to be responsible about your debts, call us back, deadbeat." ARGH. I've had it-one more call and I'm driving to Boston to SHOW them just how "un-Stacy" that I am. :-)

The easiest way to deal with this problem is quite simple.
Save the number on your I phone or Android.
Send their calls straight to voice mail.
Your welcome LMAO!

Tammy, the presumption is that collectors don't know what kind of phone is being dialed. (Not that it's always hard to determine, but that's another argument.) The reps aren't dialing anyway, but a machine which has been fed account data, which might include a mobile number. The key, as I discussed in June, is notification from you which removes all excuses of ignorance.

Smartass, TacoLips, MsAngel, Kellie, and especially Sliter:
Contrary to popular misbelief, the federal DNC registry *does not* offer blanket protection from every unwanted call in creation. The following URL links to the FTC FAQ page which the DNC site *twice* coaxed you to read before you registered your numbers. See items 28 through 32.
http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/alerts/alt107.shtm

Short version? The DNC registry is for telemarketers, meaning sales, meaning all debt collectors are exempt, meaning calls from CCS will continue until you take steps which are actually effective. Those steps vary a bit by situation, but all involve direct confrontation with the collection agency. Don't get me wrong, attorneys general and the FTC are valid complaint venues which help the publc good. But those people are not your personal civil dispute police force. When debt collectors breach your privacy and violate your rights, the laws they so often break also permit you to take the fight to their doormats.

First item for your homework is the FDCPA, the federal law which regulates collector behavior. It grants you control of how you are contacted, and the means to sue at low cost. Learn your rights and first response tactics at FTC-dot-gov. See also your state laws for additional support.
http://www.ftc.gov/os/statutes/fdcpajump.shtm

Looking at other entries here:
Alison and Kellie, and anyone else so equipped, can halt calls to a mobile phone merely by notifying the offending agency. Collectors cannot incur cost to collect, so that strikes mobile devices. Elle reported daily calls in Sep 2010 coming in well after the legally permitted hours. If she kept good call records she can file suit up to a year from the first CCS violation. (Better get it done this summer!) In February Fred had the right idea in demanding proof but got nowhere, probably from trying to rely on verbal requests.

If the collector has your name on some account, request validation by letter and revoke some or all call permission as you like. If the collector is using you to find someone else, send a cease-comm notice. The FTC and many consumer watchdogs explain how to draft these letters. Always send mail via USPS Certified with return card to best preserve your rights and options.

Just over a year ago, ''Sick of Calls'' went so far as to send that cease-comm and the calls continued. Two possibilities: [1] The letter was not sent Certified, thus ignored. [2] The letter *was* sent USPS CMRR and CCS is just stupid enough to beg for a lawsuit. Don't disappoint them when you get that invitation.

The company CCSoffice.com or CCS Co is a collection agency and there business address is 2 Wells Ave #1 Newton Center MA 02459. If you have called into the FCC and put your number on the do not call list you can file a formal complaint with the FCC and the calls should stop.

These bunch of dumb butts repeatedly call me on my cell phone and my home phone after numerous times telling them not to call. I am also on the Do Not Call list. I have an old bill I've been paying on for months but somehow these numb-nuts got ahold of it. I owe about $25 now! That's it. I would have paid it off already but these fools piss me off and I won't pay it TO THE ORIGINAL CREDITOR (not dipshiz that call)until they stop calling. I have filed a complaint with the FTC. I encourage you to do so, also. My original bill was about $5,000 so having these brainless bozos harass me and run up my cell phone minutes for $25 is ridiculous! And yes, I have contacted the original creditor but these calls don't stop. I guess dipshiz get paid their $12.50 even if it was turned in accidentally. Assphats!

I have asked these dipshits not to call me, especially on my cell phone many times and they still call. I am turning them in to the state attorney general and I suggest you do the same. I have told them that I am dealing with the original company and I won't deal with their butts ever and the dogs keep at it...for $32!!!! They are idiots.

Don't want them to call? Then pay your bills!!! LOL

Just kidding! They've been calling me also. About twice a week for a couple months.

Strange thing is that they only let the phone ring 3 times, which isn't long enough for my answering machine to pickup.

Also, when I pickup the phone they don't say anything, they just hang up.

Not going to get a penny from me like that!

Crazy, crappy, robotic phone callers. Nobody I've ever spoke to ever said they like the things, and most think it's an invasion of our privacy. Still, our politicians keep passing bill after bill allowing companies to use this crap to bother us at our homes, work, and out on the beach with our cell phones...

Anyway, it's not their fault. Collection agencies are filling a need that was created by greedy bankers. Nobody is paying their bills on time these days, and that's not because we're irresponsible, it's because our Fat-Rich politicians gave Corporations the rights of individuals, and those corporations bought up everything they could, ran up huge bills, and then had to pawn our country off to greedy bankers. Now we don't have jobs, and there's no new industry to create any more jobs.

Send a letter to your congressman. Then vote him out! Send a letter to the next congressman, and let him know why you voted the last one out! Send real letters, not email. Congressman like reading letters, but email gets an auto-reply then sent straight to their trash folder.

Don't vote for someone depending on what race or party they're with. Vote for them because they choose to work for the people, and reject the corporate yes-men who are running for office with the money they made as CEO's of bankrupt corporations!

Anyway, if you're upset with collection agencies calling your phone day and night just be patient - They will quit calling.

And, in a couple of years when you're living in your Toyota Camry and begging for food you can look back and remember the good old days when someone actually cared enough about you to pick up the phone and call! (or when you owned a phone)

And, contrary to the Visa commercials - If you see something you want but you don't need, and you don't have the cash to buy it - then don't buy it! Save those Credit cards so you can pay your kid's medical bills after you lose your job and benefits. When you lose your income then Max those babies out, and don't pay a single payment. Save your cash for food and necessities because no matter how bad you've got it, it can always get worse!

We all are to blame for the ruination of our own economy. Every person who every bought a foreign product when there was an American item available is a traitor. You can rationalize it any way you like, but the reality is that we Americans bought ourselves out of our own jobs. We've been brainwashed by TV and magazine to believe American products are overpriced and low-quality. Do you have pride in your own job? Do you trust the product you build or the service you sell? How do you think an Autoworker feels when his neighbors are driving foreign cars and he's losing his job? How are you going to like it when the same people we're at war with now are competing for your job in a couple years?

Now that you read all that, I'll get to the point: Nobody ever said "I want to be a Collections Agent when I grow up". The collector that's calling you is someone who has lost their job as an Auditor or a Seamstress or as an autoworker. Instead of giving up, losing all their stuff, and dodging phone calls, they're working crap jobs on commission to call people that hate them. The best any of us can do for ourselves and for them is to swallow our pride, answer the phone, and tell them politely but firmly that we can't pay and that we want them to stop calling.

Buy American with cash!

My phone service gives me the ability to forward "certain" numbers and block "certain" numbers in a list. So...I forwarded the number(when it calls my home #) 248-432-1112 in Michigan to another collection co. number 617-581-1071 in Boston, MASS. They are both robo calls so they get each other...lol LMAO!!! Then I blocked the second number..so smart. As we all know they are dumb people so when they do figure it out, how high well they phone bills be... oh well at least they are NOT reaching me!

Definitely a credit collection company who needs to stop calling numbers that do not belong to the people they are trying to reach. It is becoming increasingly annoying to the point I have turned the volume off on my home phone. P.S. A few hints: go to each of the credit bureaus and change your work status to "full time student", remove any phone numbers listed and go to the FCC website to report any company/phone number that calls you after 9pm and before 8am.
