They called and left an empty 10-second voicemail yesterday. Blocked their number.

The person calling had such a strong foreign accent, it was almost impossible to understand him. He wanted me to participate in a survey regarding foreign policies in the current news. I told him NO and further stated he was calling a number that is registered on the national "Do not call" list. He argued with me and said if I participated in answering his questions no one would call me again from his company. I let him know if they called again I would sue them for harassment.

I've told them to stop calling, I've sent them a message and reported them and they continue to call 3 times a day for the last 2 months!!
 May 13th, 2014
I got a call from them, too. Didn't answer. They left no message.
 Mar 08th, 2014
Got my first call from them today. I never answer the phone, let the machine do it. They left no message anyway.

If you're getting unwanted calls on your cell from this number - or any number - download Mr. Number to stop the annoyances! You can block or send to voice mail. I choose to block and am no longer bothered. Do NOT put your phone number in any website that offers to remove your number! You will only confirm that your number is valid. Your number will probably then be sold and more nuisance calls will result.
 Nov 08th, 2013
I ignored this call when it came in on my cell yesterday at 6:10. I added it to Mr. Number and it was blocked today at 5:32. I have no idea, nor do I care, who these people are.

If you go to the BR Interviewing website you can ask them to remove you from their list. Here is the link for removal:

First call was 10/17/13. Told it was a survey. When I asked who was paying for the survey she couldn't tell me, so I said I wasn't interested.

Second call was 10/25/13 at 8:18 PM. I didn't answer, no message left.

I thought it was someone calling for a job reference for a friend since it said B R Interviewing. After a long silence, someone connected and asked for my husband. I told them he wasn't available and then they said they were a public opinion survey company. I said, "look, we are on the No Call List and you are falsely identifying yourself". Before I could finish that sentence, they said "oh SURE" and hung up.
 Aug 08th, 2013
Tired of getting calls from this no. and others "This is an important call for XXXXX......". Feeling playful one day, I waited and got "please wait for then next available....." When they finally connected, I said "All of out representatives are busy, please wait." and put the phone on the table. After a minute I picked it up and said "your call is important to us, please continue to hold." Both times all that I got on the other end was " um, er, uh is this XXXX? after the THIRD time there was no body on the phone. It stopped the calls for about a month.

It also used to tickle me when ppl would answer the phone asking "do you know what time it is?" Braun calls people in different time zones all over the country so there's a strong possibility the person on the other end has no idea what time it is in your specific location. And the interviewer doesn't know you personally so how the heck can you expect them to know what time you go to sleep or eat dinner or watch your favorite TV show? Be serious! Even if they did it wouldn't matter b/c they're not the ones dialing the numbers, the computer does it automatically. It's an outbound call center so there is no direct line for you to call back & reach the interviewer who called, hence no point in leaving a voicemail.

Also, in case you haven't noticed our economy is not the best. So don't assume the person calling is uneducated or lazy or not capable of performing what I've seen some commenters refer to as a "real job." In my opinion a "real job" is anything that puts food on the table & pays the bills & some of these phone interviewing jobs actually pay pretty decent. Many of the employees are college-educated professionals who are in between jobs, as I was when I worked for Braun, or students. All respectable ppl who are just doing what they are being paid for & do not deserve to be spoken to in a disrespectful manner.

I used to work for Braun & they really are just doing market research. The DNC list is for telemarketers & does not apply to them b/c nothing is being sold. It was always funny to me that people would get soooo angry about a simple phone call. Like really how miserable are you that you have to take your anger out on me for simply doing my job? Most of the surveys are about important issues like politics, education, & healthcare. It really is beneficial to give feedback as the results are used to determine policies that effect us all. No one wants to know your personal info. Certain surveys are targeted to ppl of certain races or age groups so they may ask you that, but you always have the option to refuse a question that you are not comfortable asking.

The most idiotic thing you can do is be rude or hang up in the interviewer's face. If you do that they will be sure to call you back again & again & again. If you really don't care to participate just say so in a kind, respectful manner & you won't be called again. Trust me they don't wanna talk to you anymore than you wanna talk to them. They're not paid on commission so they really don't care whether you complete the survey or not, just be respectful. Also, if you hang up w/out allowing them a chance to explain why they're calling they are required to call back, b/c you can't refuse something unless you know what it is. I really don't see what the big deal is & why people are so opposed to giving their feedback.

Right off the FTC web site near the bottom - of course
 Sep 19th, 2012
To all those getting the same shit from this company, it's just a shell for another company they hide through so many proxy servers, that I need to call them how they do it - so I can start downloading movies and songs.

I mean, if they can have the balls to tell people here that they are doing their jobs in violation of Federal Law, MR BRAUN EMPLOYEE. Then I guess I can use the same lame excuse for starting to violate the Digital Millennium Copyright Act

RIGHT SIR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And if you represent Government Agencies, as js5113 states, then the Government is in violation of it's own law's IMAGINE THAT

AND MR BRAUN, being a good ole' boy from Short Hills, not Millburn/Short Hills - Shot Hills - then you should also know not to screw with us.

Let me just put it like this you all we are doing our jobs so you can harass and curse all you want too when were conducting these surveys you're only making a fool out of yourself because it doesn't bother us and either way were still going to get paid because were doing our job. We are not scammers so save yourself the time:)

This is a research, Marketing firm that does market research for Government Agencies, Medical Entities and Religious organizations. BR Interviewing is not in the business of scamming or annoyance calling. How do I know this? I invited BR Interviewing to contact me regarding paid interviewing for market research. Yes, I said paid.

Francisca, since you've now twice registered a number with federal DNC, there should be no excuse for you to have missed the FTC FAQ page which the DNC site repeatedly prompts you to read. See items 28 through 32.

Q&A: The National Do Not Call Registry

You will have to deal with Braun directly, as has been explained before in this thread. Should verbal demands be ignored, send a ''cease communication'' notice via USPS Certified with return card.

Since a week or so ago, I started receiving calls almost every single day from this number at all hours, including nights and weekends, sometimes even TWICE a day!! As a habit I let the unidentifiable numbers go straight to voicemail; figure they'd leave a message if it's legitimately business-related. But they never did. However they just won't stop calling!!!

I was at the edge of picking up just to tell them to stop calling, but I thought better and Googled the number up first. Seeing the search results as well as the reviews here, I decided I better not bother with it, lest it sends them a "someone picked up" signal and encourages them to pester me some more!!

I re-registered my number at the Do Not Call list; just waiting for the 31 days to kick in. If they don't stop by then, I'll just report them.
 Aug 27th, 2012
I don't answer calls from unknown numbers. They never leave messages to call back. I get 5 or 6 of these every week, sometimes more. Am on do not call list. Some are pre-recorded, some are not. Does no good to ask to be removed from call list. Very aggravating!
 Aug 24th, 2012
I am not answering any of these out of state calls. After reading this I made a good choice.
 Aug 04th, 2012
I received a call from 609-279-0220, 2012-04-14, on my caller ID but no message on my answering machine. If B.R. Interviewing is a company name, what do they do and where are they located? Are they legit or a scammer? Thanx.
 Apr 15th, 2012
This is the second time this particular scammer has called. The first time they did not leave a message. This time I answered the phone and there was no one there after about 10 seconds of saying "hello"; a clear violation of the 2-second rule. But then scammers don't care much about laws anyway, so why should they care about that one?

They want you to take a survey.
 Feb 08th, 2012
Caller Id, left no msg. Called the number back, listened to announcement who says they are a survey company and if you don't want them to call you, go to and unsubscribe your number. I did, and not 10 mins later they called again. I answered the phone by saying SR Enterprises, How can I help you, they hung up thinking it was a business. 9 out of 10 times, you will stop receiving calls when they think you are a business.
 Feb 03rd, 2012
They call late in the evening (usually between 8.30p and 9.00p) and hang up when we answer. We are on the Do Not Call list. These pests need to be shut down!

This was a call from BR Interviewing (, sister company of Braun Research (

Their website shows the following blurb: "BR Interviewing is a privately held research firm located in Rocky Hill, New Jersey. BR Interviewing is employed by Government Agencies, Corporations, Religious Organizations, Advertising Agencies and other entities solely for the purpose of collecting data for survey research purposes. We are not a sales or telemarketing firm and we will never divulge individual answers to any client for any purpose."

Down at the bottom of their site is a field to leave a comment or ask for your phone number to be removed from their calling database. Not sure that I trust them not to call again or sell a phone number...
 Apr 22nd, 2011
They have called me every day for 1 week. Two days ago, I asked them to please remove me from their calling list. I was told OK. Tonight they called again & I got angry. I asked the woman to PLEASE remove me from her calling list. The reply I got was, "Until you respond to our questions, we will continue to call". I could NOT believe it.Asked to speak to a supervisor. Heard the phone juggling around, was not put on hold & a lot of talking in the background. Someone came on the line & I said that I asked NICELY two days ago for this to happen, why are you still calling me? An apology. Yeah...right....we all know what will continue to occur.
 Apr 10th, 2011
Said they were conducting a survey. I told them I'd been called by their company several times before and had asked to have my number put on a DO NOT CALL list. I asked caller not to ever call me again.

 Oct 20th, 2010
Call came at 10:10PM last night!! I grabbed the phone without looking at the ID and a woman said they were doing a survey on how happy I was with the state I live in. I asked her if SHE KNEW WHAT TIME IT WAS and told her I was on the "Do Not Call" list. She asked when would be a good time to call back. Duh... I replied NEVER to which she apologized and said she would make a note. Yeah, right. Who are these people?? A phone call after 10:00PM when you are already in bed sure can get your heart rate up!
 Oct 20th, 2010
I *69nd it BR customize. when they called back i picked up the phone they said they were a national survey company. I am sorry but i have worked for survey companies before they do not call after 9pm. I don' believe them i think it must be some kind of scam. i blocked them this time....
 Sep 21st, 2010
I don't know what they really are, but I *69ed them a dozen times, and finally got through. The recording reported that I could carefully and clearly leave my phone number to not be included in any future surveys.

They are not blocked. They cannot get through unless they change their number.
 Sep 20th, 2010
Call came through at 9:49 p.m.! Unacceptable! We did not recognize the number on the caller ID and did not answer. I am on the DNC register and should not receive these nuisance calls--and especially not so late in the evening!

they call up and hang up on the answering machine. Caller ID says Princeton NJ
 Jun 19th, 2010
they called. I answered, said nothing. I could hear clicking like typing in the background. a guy said hello three times and then hung up. sigh.
 Jun 01st, 2010
This phone number listed under the name of Randie Roderick, Princeton, NJ, not AKA..... or dba BR Interviewing. These complaints go back 3 years. Some people have said if they talked with someone, sound of TV in baackground. I believe this individual, because of above and other info, has more than 1 phone number; is an independent contractor and works out of home; completely ignores state and national do not call lists; calls are computer generated; probably gets paid by number of calls placed. Since numerous calls are placed to a single phone number, I consider this to be a form of harassment. I'm sure there are folks out there who know more than I and would know how to stop these calls under laws of harassment.
 May 30th, 2010
Several calls from this number. Like many am on the national do not call registry. It has become completely annoying, calls coming all times of the day. I am TOTALLY TIRED OF MY PRIVACY BEING ATTACKED! Should be able to enjoy my home without what appear to be unscrupulous people constantly invading!

Also, when u are asked if it is a business or a office it is to make sure we aren't calling a business. Sometimes the phone is answered like a business by people just saying "yes?" and "what do u want". So instead of proceeding when its a business, because we aren't allowed to, we have to ask.

And certain companies have different age groups and tyypes of households they are intrested in us gathering info from so that's the reason for asking. SSI surveys may require older and the department of defense may require young to see who might enlist in any brance of military. We can't do anything with your age, we don't have addresses and we don't see ur number, we don't even havve to have ur name unless you wish to supply.

Some surveys are paid but some don't even let us get that far to tell them that.

It really says a lot about someones character when they can get so angered enough to threaten, call vulgar and obscene names and foul language from a simple phone call from someone who is only doing there job. 9 times out of ten the surveys are to improve programs or diff services offered in your area. Many have worked in the customer service field or had a job as a student and should know the feeling when someone is just downright nasty to you.
Braun employee
 Jan 09th, 2010
They are not telemarketers so the "do not call list" doesn't apply.

If you listen to what they are saying instead of immediately trying to be nasty, they are calling FOR the US government. they are contracted by The department of defense to gather information. They also work with many other companies that get them to gather info for them.

As far as the calling and hanging up, they are required to let the phone ring from 24-35 seconds. Some times just as you pick up they might be hangng up. There also is a delay so you might say hello before anyone is actually on the line.

The economy is bad. A job is a job. Not everyone is fortunate to have a good job. I can guarantee that many of us don't enjoy what we are doing but we have families to feed.

Most of the time people hang up in the middle of us speaking and since you didn't say you weren't intrested, we have to code it as a callback or get in trouble. So instead o f being rude, just say so. Everything is for research purposes only and if its anything you don't want to answer u are allowed to skip.

BR Interviewing often does surveys on behalf of, indeed, the federal government.
They are a professional research firm.
In fact, they are often quite pleasant if you choose not to divulge certain bits of private information while being surveyed.

Please don't act like you know what you are talking about when you assert that "THEY ARE NOT THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT THEY ARE A FRAUD AND ARE TRYING TO STEAL YOUR INFORMATION!!!1!"
 Apr 24th, 2009
They keep calling and hanging up. One time they said they were the Federal Government (which they are not). I don't care what this organization/corporation wants. I want them to stop harassing me in my home! STOP calling my home or start paying my monthly phone bill!

I received a call from BRINTERVIEWI from 609-279-0220 on April 2, 2009 at 9:02pm. Ordinarily, I don't pay attention, but in the background a television was playing which made me think that it was a personal call.
I find it peculiar because I am job hunting and I thought it was a recruiter. After hearing
the tv background, I investigated. Hence, I am writing this report.

My caller was very pleasant. She told me she was affiliated with a survey company and asked my permission to ask a question. She wanted to know how many times I traveled by air in a year. When I said one time she told me thank you for my time and hung up.

Called today at 2:13pm and said they were with the US Government doing a research project for individuals between the ages of 16-24. They then ask if there was any in the household between those ages which I said, "no. They thanked me and hung up, not nasty or anything but saying they are the US Government is a lie, caller ID said BR Interviewing so I knew in advance it was bull$hit. That in itself should be against the law, perpetrating a fraud.

Called & hung up on me. Researched the # on the internet & found to be a survey company. They would like you to be "respectful" when requesting your # be taken off the list. HUH!? They called & hung up in my ear!!!!! Respect was lost @ that point. is the website. If they call you, go to the website & use all the disrespectful language & terms you can think of. Don't call my house uninvited & then hang up in my FREAKING EAR! Hate it! They choose the business they are in & they don't deserve respect if they can't give it. Call & complain. Email & complain, BUT DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY" SURVEY INFO AT ALL. That only helps them do their pathetic "job"!

From their web site (

"We also understand that some may have signed up either for the federal or various state Do-Not-Call Lists. Please be advised that under the law, BR Interviewing is not obliged to cleanse our telephone lists against the Do-Not-Call list. However, if you prefer not to participate, please leave your telephone number in the comment field below and allow us 3 days to ensure we have the opportunity to remove your telephone number. We generally do not know your name unless we are using a voter list for political surveys using public voter lists."

Just call them and have your number removed, or lobby your congress to have the laws changed.

They just called at 11:59 a.m. Saturday and also said they were the Federal Gvt and that they wanted to know if their were any 18-24 year olds in our home and if this was a home or office.

I get these calls too. And, I don't care when they tell me they are not subject to the Do not Call Registry. I'm telling them not to call, and they persist. They called yesterday (Sunday) which is unusual. They get very rude to me when I don't want to participate.

Even a company not subject to the Do Not Call Registry should stop calling you when you request they do so. If they don't, they are nothing but a pest. What joy do they get out of pestering people over and over, knowing that we do not want to participate?

They tried to ask me if this was a home or office number and how many children were in the house, and I wouldn't let them go any further. They represented that they were calling "on behalf of the federal government..."

Well i use to work for BR interviewing branch here in memphis. I can insure u that ur info is safe and the creepy questions are a result of the company we're doing the survey for request. Alot of times we call registered voters and that's when we useually call u by ur name. However most of the timethe numbers r radomly generated after we put in the area code.I understand that this can seem invasive and annoying but the interviewer themselves r just doing there job. They don't knw u and we don't knw if ur on the do not call list or not. It's company protocall to call u back at least two times if u refuse the survey ( stupid i knw)but we have quotas that must be completed like every other job. BTW the Social Security survey was for the SSA, so that they could make recieving ur money more convient for u and ur family.

Very suspicious questions. Another website reports many creepy calls from them. Seriously doubt they are legitimate. Their survey was about baseball but eventually led to financial questions. BEWARE.
