I used to work for this company, and while it's not a scam, there really is a Warranty to buy and they are not just looking for information from you, it is not the best of businesses to deal with. Basically the warranty will insure an car up to 11 years old and under 300,000 miles. If you have and older car that isn't under warranty protection and you are willing to pay 3,000 dollars to reinstate it well you can. But if you talk to the people and buy the warranty they will do everything in their power to keep you from canceling it. Their customer service department are full of trained high pressure sales people who will give you the run around until you just want to hang up. The sales people will promise you anything in order to get you to buy it. And the initial contact people just need as many VIN numbers as possible to keep their jobs.
For the most part it isn't the reps fault, they don't even know what number the computer is dialing as it is all completely automated. Most of them complain as much as you do about the repeated calls that go out to specific numbers trying to get the hire ups to take them out of the system. They give them do not call lists and promises that say they will take them out if they write the number down but then they don't do anything with them so the computer constantly keeps dialing numbers at random even after numerous complaints from both the reps AND the consumers.
I don't really know what to do about companies like this. the best advice I have for all of you is to just not answer the phone if you see one of the nummbers pop up, or if you really feel the need you can always report it to the FTC and hope they finally get around to fixing the problem. But screaming and yelling at the reps isn't going to do anything because trust me when i say they are just as annoyed as you are, but in this economy a job is a job and for most of them it's all they can get right now. So be nice if you do answer and talk to someone, show respect and don't automatically jump down their throats. The more respectful you are the harder the person on the other end of the line will fight to get you number removed from the automated dialing system.
Dude calls my cell and says, "I'm calling because your warranty for your HP computer is expired." I've never owned an HP in my life! I told him to add me to DNC list, now I still get calls from them, but it's an automated msg instead of live; which means i can't get it to stop!

I missed part of the message left on my cell phone, but I heard something about getting 2 free keychain remotes with their $29.99 monthly service. The end of the message said to press 3 to remove your # from their calling list, but when I did that, I was told it was an invalid entry.
Didn't Answer, Called back #...Disconnected
