Left message that she needed to speak with my husband bc he was given as a reference for 'someone' - left a toll free number to call her back and a reference number.
If this is a collection agency, are they allowed by law to lie as to why they are calling?
I would not answer anything that is unknown plus, doesn't this apply to the Federal Do Not Call list?

hey all... you think pioneer is some terrible company... well they aren't they try and help people out to the best of there ability... it's the debtors that don't wanty the help. Apparently some people would rather be garnished... and YES they can do it... but look for your self about there rankings... here's the better buisness burea website... they think PCR is satisfactory : http://search.buffalo.bbb.org/codbrep.html?ID=5664&cons=y

Also in regards to when a collection agency can call its perfectly legal for them to call between the hours of 8am and 9pm as well as calling on saturdays and sundays so get used to it also it is perfectly legal for them to call your neighbors as well as your place of employment in most states so once again pay your debts!!!!!

The calls are coming from pioneer credit this company is not a scam they dont ask for your social they ask to verify the last four as for asking for something in writing its not a billing agency and if you would verify your address they would be happy to send several letters but they will all say the same thing you owe money and you should pay it yes neighbors are called thats what happens when you evade your debt and dont answer your phone or mail. As far as reporting the agency to the attorney general how about they report you for buying merchandise with a credit card that you dont pay for last time I checked thats stealing.

This company called me on a Sunday, 12/16/07. I'm reporting this to the Federal Trade Commission. It's illegal this company to call during weekends or after 9pm. Anyone else should do the same to shut this place down.

'woah' is a liar and probably a collection agent working on commission. check with the attorney generals office in your state and the federal site online.

You DO NOT have to give them ANY information or stay on the phone with them.

I think it is amazing that so many collection agencies have plants on whocalled.us now. They are so obvious.

This guy called my office from this number 4 times today! Thanks for all the info, it was driving me crazy! I knew all my bills were up to date....I figured with my luck, it was Publisher's Clearing House & I was missing out on my millions....I tracked it back to a $400 department store credit card I had when I was 19...are you joking me?!? Let it go...and PS - calling me 700 times a day & being an asshole, isn't going to work. I definitely won't be paying any money to them.

get over it pay your bills especially your student loans so that hopefully our children would beable to recieve funds for an education. All you people that dont pay them; self employed, chiropractors, doctors, ministers, preachers, store owners, LAWYERS, you wiil get whats coming. they are non dischargable and do not ever go away and you have to br practicaly dead and not moving to get medically discharged for just because you have a butt ache and recive ssd doesnt mean your totally disabled. If you dont want to talk about your debt over the phone then enjoy that great garnishment because you know you owe it so pay it

To Pcr Emp:

Is the reason you work for Pioneer because you don't know how how to spell or use apostrophes or punctuation? Just curious.

I take care of my debts, thank you very much. I continuously get calls at my number from these people at Pioneer. They are rude and call for someone WHO DOES NOT LIVE HERE. I've told them many times to stop calling and they continue. These people get paid for harassing bogus claims and/or leads on legitimate debts. When we say "stop calling," do it. How hard is that?

Okay, I am glad I found this page. I have also been receiving calls from this number over the past several days. I do have some loans out there, but I have never heard of a collection agency behave like these guys. They gave me a number to contact them, 866-269-1891. I googled this contact number and the only thing it came up with is a site called Dennis Wilbur Enterprises. I looked around the site, and it is jam-packed with pop-ups and scams. I do not think it would be wise to give these guys the time of day.

The call was actually for my husband asking him to be a reference for credit for his brother. I told the lady that my husband wasn't home and the lady then said well maybe you can help since she only had questions regarding his employment history and responsability. Before I could say anything she was already asking questions. The first question she asked was if my brother-in-law had been working at least a year at his current employment. At that point I guess I felt safe to answer. The second question was about how responsible he was. The third question was to verify the city he lived in and that is where I no longer felt confortable. I told her that she just better wait to speak with my husband instead. She quickly then tried to verify his DOB and since it was also wrong, I told her that this call was definetally not alright and that we were going to get in contact with my brother-in-law for him to keep an eye on his credit. The lady quickly said, sorry about that and hung up. That was definetaly weird. The call wasn't that bad at the beggining but it quickly became weird. It seemed to be a "fishing" phone call for sure. BEWARE!

The person called and I was not home. He told my husband his name was Mike and he had a private business matter to discuss with me. He asked for my cellphone # , my husband refused to give w/o more info. The person called back in the eve when I was home. He asked if I were ...
he used both my maiden name and married name. I said what is this regarding he said are you ....( in a very angry voice). He knew my DOB and that freaked me out and I hung up. I tried to call the number back about three times, but I got a message which said the network is not available..! I did get a letter some days ago from Pioneer about a debt..but there was no answer when I called and no creditor listed on the form.

I am an attorney and I suggest all of us report them to the Attorney General's office of your state.

Yes we to receive calls from this agency called pioneer credit. however my wife has student loans and has been working with them. she faxed back the info to get thing going and they still call 3-6x a day starting at 5:30 in the morning... isn't it against the law to call before 7:00am?

it is true if you ask their company nm they must gv it to you, they are not allowed by law though to tell you what business they are handeling to their client, that would be 3rd party disclosure, they know the law. if they didnt they wouldnt have a job, so when they call to verify employment, do it. it is part of their job to verify their clients place of employment. seriously you people just need to answer the phone and pay ur student loans, and keep track of them. then you wont get annoying calls :-D

Pioneer is a collection agency. we have received calls from this company attempting to verify employment. If you receive a call and they refuse to identify themselves it is a violation of the law. If you are a non-involved 3rd party, they should not be divulging any information pertaining to the person they are looking for. File a complaint with the FCC.

This company is legit and is owned by sallie mae, they ask to verify the last four digits not the whole thing and if you dont they ask for your DOB, they are defaulted student loans that you need to pay on or u get ur taxes taken by the irs, or ur wages get garnished, not cool, they are actually trying to help you, get into a federally backed program cld the rehab. program, so answer the phone pay your bills and shut up. get real grow up and take care of ur debts

These guys have called me probably 50 times in the last 3 months. They leave a message every week. The first few times, I picked up the phone and told they have a reached a wrong number and I don't know the person they are looking for.

This is very frustrating. Can someone suggest actions - legal or otherwise - that I can take?

Changing my phone number might help, but that's a pain.

Thanks for listening.

Phone call from caller Id 585-492-8099 (buffalo NY) returning a call to the number is a rapid busy signal. Person receiving the call was told only "pioneer" and was given a fax number to send documents 888-256-0239 when placing a call to the fax # given the Id is 585-815-6510 Apparently a collection call for a person no longer at my number.

They asked if my last name was Stewart (which it is not). When I said no, they wanted to know if the last 4 digits of my SS # was something different than what it is. I guess they were trying to get me to give them my correct SS #, which I do not give out over the phone. How did they get my phone number for a different person? Sounds kind of suspicious.

This guy has been calling my cell for a few days now but I didnt answer because I dont know anyone in NY. I accidentally answered today and this guy identifies himself as "Pioneer Credit" and starts in with "whats the last 4 digits of your social?" so I asked "who are you and what's this regarding?" and he replies "just give me your social and I'll tell you what this is about" We went round and round like that for a few minutes until I finally just laughed at the guy and hung up. Personally I think they are just phishing for personal info to use in identity theft. I recommend not telling them anything and reporting them to the appropriate agency.

They called my eleven year old daughter's phone asking for my ex husband, whom I divorced 10 years ago. My hubby asked who gave them our number and they said my ex gave it to them. (No, they matched last names and called her phone... I'm sure of it.) Hubby told them this was not his residence; do not call back and the guy said, "Ok, we'll call back tomorrow." I, too, receive calls at my home and my job from Arcade, NY and don't answer because they won't identify who they are via answering machine. IF it's the same company that calls my job, and are asked not to, then they are a collection agency that won't give me further information when I request it, and I don't transact such this kind of business on my work phone.

This "company" asked me for my social security number and birth date. Yeah, right. Sorry, my mom told me never to give this info on the phone. I think this is some kind of scam. They mentioned something about my student loan, but on a follow up call to my student loan lender they reported my account current and in good standing. Watch out for this one and don't ever verify personal info on the phone. Ask them to mail you something so you have their info in writing. When I asked they refused .... something's awfully phishy here!
