If these calls have been identified as fraud or scams, what can be done about it? After receiving harassing calls from this fl fdn police for at least a year, I recently started keeping track and here it is: 8-26-2010 caller ID number 941-866-....? 8-30-2010 8:30pm caller ID fl fdn police-sorry did not record number. 9-9-2010 fl fdn police caller ID 786-358-5543
. On 8-26-2010 I intentionally answered the phone and the caller identified himself as a policeman and started talking about sexual offenders, etc.
I immediately hung up. What is going to be done about this?

This phone number is calling to try to SCAM money for the Fraternal Order of Police. I have NOT called the number, nor will I. It directs you to a customer service department that can answer questions using potentially manipulative techniques, help you waste your donation on fundraising fees, or anything else related to the FOP getting a small fraction of your donation, 12% to 27% Some fundraiser's pocket as much as 73% to 90% and up. Also, there’s information on www.badgefraud.org on the massive numbers of warnings put out by FOP Lodges that do not use so called professional fundraisers and Real Police and Sheriff and Fire Departments. But you can contact them there with any questions or requests.
BadgeFraud (dot) org is doing a lot of really great things for POLICE OFFICERS FAMILIES and the people that post are NOT trying to raise money, they are trying to protect the money of the people who protect us, and that is something very good.
THIS IS NOT ABOUT THE GROUP ON THIS PAGE< BUT IT IS ABOUT ANOTHER POLICE GROUP>
THIS IS OUR PUBLIC EDUCATION CAMPAIGN ABOUT POLICE FIRE VETERAN"S AND CHILDREN'S CHARITIES. It can happen anywhere and when it does we would love to hear from you.
As for the group on this page, it would be a good idea to let your fundraiser know we are out here and now you know that we are looking at them too. I would not let them misrepresent because the first time they do and we catch them, it's all over with but the crying.
Officer Down Foundation,
This is a message from Rev. James email@example.com of the Holy Land Spiritual Church Inc. in Maryland and its integrated auxiliary Police Fire Crimeline (The Badge Fraud Tip Reporting Hotline) www.badgefraud.org
I am only going to tell you this one time. Don't you dare come out here on to this or any other board and try to say you are trying to help fallen police officers. You are not trying to help anyone but yourselves. You think I am going to let you talk to these people who are trying to protect themselves from you in that condescending manner. Let me see if I can explain this to your two week on the job backside. Officer Down Foundation's program is to teach Crisis Chaplaincy to Chaplains, it is not to provide benefits to the families of officers killed, they only pitch that because their real program would not get them one single donation, and every time you say they are providing benefits to families of officers killed it is a lie and a misrepresentation and is potentially criminally actionable against you personally as well as your bosses David Fair, Paul Kutac, Phil Leconte and David Deriks.
I will bet you did not know that those are the same group of guys that run the Police Protective Fund and American Association of Police Officers and the Junior Police Academy. These men are so honest and hard working that even after several states sued the pants off of them they had to go out and start another identical fake charity. Remember "Operation False Charity"? Yeah, wow, they were part of it, and now look at who has come to defend them and their new carbon copy of the Multi State proven fraud the Police Protective Fund and by extension The Crisis Chaplin Project.
You, a person that I already know has maybe 2 weeks experience on the phone. I am going to offer you some sage advice from one of your elders in what is left of that industry. GET A NEW JOB! This one is about to disappear.
Now, you have called into 6 of my 50 states and misrepresented yourselves, Maryland, Virginia, Indiana, Illinois, Tennessee and North Carolina and that is a problem for your organization because that is where my organization is located and our mission is to protect charitable dollars specifically raised in the name of Officers Killed in the Line of Duty. Now let me tell you what my organization does. We search out and report fraudulent Police Fire Veteran's and Children's Charities and their professional fundraisers. We protect the money of the people who protect us.
If anyone reading this wants to help with a donation for us to keep going after these scams, feel free to email me and lets talk. firstname.lastname@example.org And unlike David Fair attempting to claim 501 c3 status before it is granted, Churches, like the Holy Land Spiritual Church in the United States are granted automatic 501 c3 status so you know you can deduct your donation from your taxes when the law allows.
We also recruit former professional police fundraisers as volunteers to help us go after groups like yours and you would be welcome to join us as well. And we always want to hear any tips on fraudulent activity in public safety charities so we can report them too. The days of diverting money from non profits and charities that really give their money to the families of officers killed in the line of duty, are OVER!
What a coincidence that would be huh? A church and a Minster going after a Chaplain, I would say God called one of us and the other has a big problem not just on earth, but after life too.
Do you know how much easier our job would be if your Officer Down Foundation did not exist?
I am not the kind of minister you are probably familiar with that gets up on Sunday morning to preach about Fire and Brimstone. I am the kind of minister that BRINGS Fire and Brimstone to your doorstep.
See the problem for your organization is that because of your fraudulent activity, you are making us expend our donor’s money to investigate you because you see, that is what OUR donors (Holy Land Spiritual Church) gave their money too and they knew full well that they were giving their money for us to go after groups like yours.
That would be the exact opposite of your group where the donor’s think they are giving to the families of officers killed in the line of duty but what you dont tell them is that the money they donate is really going to David Fair's personal mission of this "Crisis Chaplain" concept.
Well if you did not know we existed before I am not surprised, they never tell you phone jockey's anything, but you are about to know we exist now.
It is our duty and responsibility to protect our donor’s money and the only way for us to do that in the case of the Officer Down Foundation is for them to shut down voluntarily or we must sue the pants off of your group until you are ended. Oh and that is not all you have to look forward too, in North Carolina where you are calling, what you are doing is considered to be a class H felony.
GET A NEW JOB! THE FREE RIDE IS OVER! WE ARE COMING TO SHUT YOU DOWN!

THESE ARE NOT LEGIT!! These are SCAMMERS after your money. The REAL FOP really do accept donations but THEY WILL NOT CALL YOUR HOME PHONE. DO NOT fall for this. It was reported on the news in Jacksonville and if you give ANY credit card or personal information to them over the phone you are giving them a way to steal from you.
so are the "fl fop found" just prank phone calling people? because they just called and a didnt answer. Good thing i didnt!
I called the FTC to report this call and they suggested getting their mailing address and mailing them a letter to quit contacting me or I would be able to pursue legal action against them.
561-807-0497 called today at 10:24 AM, It rang once and stopped

10 cals in 8 days
Nov 24 received a call from the number above. and last Nov 11 from a different number but ID showing is FL FOP FNDN
HAS CALLED DIFFERENT HOURS OF THE DAY
Got a call from 561-807-0497, the Fraternal Order of Police. Called FTC to complain. Since FOP is a charity, they can KEEP CALLING even if you are on the DNC list.
Called twice since yesterday. Left no message. Thanks for the info on this site!
Just got a call from 941/866-79232. Caller ID said FL FOP FOUND. It rang 3 times. Glad I didn't answer!
They had the nerve to call late at night, most of the time they don't want to hear a No I can't, they keep on calling anyways...
Thay called me at 8:30pm on 11/05. I had to run to the phone from outside , because I have a sick family member and I dont have caller Id .The person asked for me by my first name in a vary nice voice. I knew right away that it was someone asking for money and I hung up ,I didnt let them start to talk. Them after I thought it could be someone from work so I did a *69 and found the number. Saw this site and now well have to pay .75 for *69 because of a scam call. Thank you everyone for your posts!
It's the state police foundation. They are RELENTLESS! Donate once and they'll call day after day. I've had these people call up to half a dozen times in one day all in the morning. Oh, and by the way - they also operate with phone numbers 813-441-0703
They call and leave no message. When I call block my number the recording asks if I would like to hold to speak to FOP? I am on the DNC list and they need stop.
reported to FTC, we will see what happens.
How do we report this annoying calling every day for weeks?
Rany 2x then hung up, calling since last Wednesday, 10/21/09. All calls around 9:03 am. I do not answer.
Have received many calls from them over the years. I keep telling them they should screen out no-call numbers (they are not required to) to avoid bad feelings, but they don't. So much for showing responsibility. Thanks to Caller ID, I won't have to tell them anything any longer.
Don't call anymore. The jig's up. You're a scam.
Fertinal Order of Police Foundation, AGAIN ??? Yeap, Don't answer, best answer !
CALLED 2 X'S. DID NOT ANSWER NUMBER SHOWING:786-522-5607
, DISPLAYING FL FOP FNDN
PLEASE call the FTC to report this. 1-877-382-4357
The FTC won't open a case for an individual call, but will take action if many people call them about a scammer.
I have been on the other end: people have received a call, call the number back, but if they are in my area code, they get my cell phone number! I've been polite and have explained the situation (an all have been happy to have avoided a scam call) but this has been going on since August and I'm tired of being polite. I'm on the Do Not Call list, but it doesn't matter - I'm getting calls from individuals responding to scam calls.
Another Hi Administrative salary fee and very little going to the cause they are promoting. Just buy your local cop a donut and coffee instead. They keep calling even after I told them NO four times already. Don't answer, best answer !
No way Jose Oct 16th, 2009
It's me again. The people at this 561-807-0497 call themselves FLORIDA FRATERNAL ORDER OF THE POLICE FOUNDATION. They collect donations.
OOOOPS! I meant to say in my message below (last sentence) that he would NOT call again.
I finally took their call this morning (minutes ago) and the guy was very polite. He said he would keep the conversation under 60sec and he did. He was asking for donation to support their fellow officers. Due to financial difficulties I turned him down politely and he ofcourse politely accept. They are not trying to sell anything. He thanked me and said he would call again.
call came in this morning, of course I didn't answer (God Bless Caller ID)and I decided to search the number. Glad I did, thanks to everyone who has posted great information!
also annoyed Oct 12th, 2009
They call everyday - sometimes under different numbers. How can we stop them?
and another 941-866-7923
. Think a key it is to find WHO are giving those numbers away. Already reported it to FTC FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION. Please If you got a phone call from them do the same. The FTC # is 1 877-382-4357
. I strongly believe that together we can stop it.
they have SO many different numbers...786-522-5607
Another number Oct 09th, 2009
I received a call this morning from 813-441-0783
, looks like they have a new #.
I just got a call from this number. They asked for the Lady of the House, and I said, "That's me." Then they proceeded to ask me for a donation for slain officers. The man had a very nice sounding voice, but I've heard about these scams on the new, and I'm not about to fall for it! Dumb ass!
PBX admins beware: These people have now changed their phone# to 813-441-0703
. I blocked this # then got a rude awakening this morning with their new number. Each time I ask they remove me from their list, particularly since they're calling my cell phone, but they still keep calling.
FL FOP FOUND on ID, I answered they didn't say anything (or they had already hung up), didn't leave a message. 4:57 p.m. 09 22 2009
Called and placed an order for 3 dozen donuts.
Dunkin Donuts Sep 22nd, 2009
Sounded much like you normal leech bottom feeder. Would prefer cash, I bet they would. Informed them I would send 1000.00 made out to FOP of our local chapter. For some reason they did not think that was a good idea, wonder why?
Incoming call from this number was answered, asked for me by name, and almost immediately asked for me to donate to their Fl FOP for slain officers. I asked a few questions trying to get the caller to divulge more information but he wouldn't. I asked if I could send the donation by certified mail and was told no. Then I asked them to send a currier to pick up my $600 donation ... still waiting for them to show up. Maybe the cruiser parked in my driveway frightened them off.
rang 3 times, answering machine went on, they hung up
Brevard County Sep 19th, 2009
Didn't answer phone - after reading other posts glad I didn't. The clowns will probably call back, again.
Early called from this happy guy asking for my husband, I told him he is not home, the caller then had a very long speech,he wants me to give him a check which will be hold for a month for just 10$,at the end of it I explained to him that I do give to my local FOP 25$, I will support my local FOP, not a scam. Shame on these people, and if you are truly a foundation, you guys are doing a very tasteless job.God Bless my JSO.

Trying to solicit donations for florida fraternal order of police. He went through the regular scpheel, then I asked do you have a website so I can see what you use these funds for? He then said, its ok if you do not want to donate and hung up. Friggin Scammers
John Whitt Sep 16th, 2009
PS it came up as "Boca Raton FL" on my ID
called me a few years back and I said to send the information and I'd think about it. A month later they called back insisting I pay them the pledge I'd promised them or I'd be reported. Talk about harassment.
Thanks for posting the number! Now, I'll know when they call back to not answer!
Called a few days ago, but we had turned the ringers & machine off. Called again this morning & hung up after machine grabbed the call. I've already told these clowns to take us off the list...one more incoming call from them & I'll put the FTC/FCC on speed dial!
FOP FOUND called at 9:15 AM. hung up after three rings.
I'm so glad I (finally!) got caller ID. If I don't recognize the number I never answer.
However, these clowns are not preying on cynical, suspicious people like me, they are looking for some lonely older person who is just waiting for the phone to ring and someone to talk to.
They must be hooking a few now and then or they wouldn't waste time trolling.
Spread the word to family members, and treat your elderly relatives to caller ID, it only costs a few dollars a month.

Word of caution..Call the FOP lodge to see if they do conduct donations by telephone.
From the FOP website,
Q. Does the Fraternal Order of Police solicit donations via the telephone?
A. The National Fraternal Order of Police does not conduct telephone solicitations. However, some State and local FOP lodges do. If you have a question about a telephone call you received requesting that you make a donation to the FOP, please contact the local FOP lodge in your area or the FOP State Lodge in your state.
These guys are scum bags some people just have no morals or moral compass they call I never give or buy anything over the phone these scumbags pray on helpless people just trying to make an honest living
the police does not need our money nor do they call private citizens begging for money
Hung up after 3 rings. I received call from them about a week ago too. Not sure if same #
I have received serveral calls, I have infomed them I do not give on the phone and hang up.
SCAM!!!!!!! Never give money to anyone who is soliciting. NEVER!! If we smartened up people, then the scams will stop. Tougher punishment needs to be given to dishonest criminals.
Hung up after 3 rings. Some other fop telemarketers called me often in the past. They give 20% of the take to the cops and keep 80% for themselves. I just scream obscenities at them and hang up. They no longer call me. These new clowns will receive the same treatment when they call back. And I know they will call back!
Even if these people are who they claim to be, they are still not worth talking to. My son worked for them as a solicitor for over a year. He said that they are only loosely connected with any police agency and keep something like 98 percent of every dollar for themselves. These type of organizations prey on the ignorant. If they are not who they claim to be, they are most likely bill collectors. When they call me, they often use fake caller ID identities and phone numbers.
I was not home today when call came in at 12:16. I'm sure they will call back. I'll let them know that I
only donate to the NRA as they are more interested in my safety than FOP.
Phone rang three times and stopped. When these type of bloodsuckers do call, I always tell them, I give money to my daughter whose little boy has leukemia and is in debt medically. I ask them if they would put her on there list to help her pay her bills. They always hang up.
They hung up after two rings!
Received the first call today from this number. I wasn't home. I live in Palm Beach County FL . Even tho I am on the do not call registry, I get calls from organizations like this one, purporting to be from the Brotherhood of Police Officers or Slain Officers Memorial Fund yada yada yada. No thanks, I'll be paying bills, taxes, and groceries with my money.
I called my FOP department and they said this number is not lagentament. Dont give them any info.
oh? how come this number is still working. Its a con shut them down.
They called me and I knew the voice, he does lots of recording voice over work. they most of programed it to a computer. They called me by my nickname, not by real name. Dont give any info to these people nothing not even your birth day, full name nothing.
From www.fop.net (a national organization):
The National Fraternal Order of Police does not conduct telephone solicitations. However, some State and local FOP lodges do. If you have a question about a telephone call you received requesting that you make a donation to the FOP, please contact the local FOP lodge in your area or the FOP State Lodge in your state.
multiple recent calls with the same ID

The prefix 561 is in West Palm Beach, Fl. Legitimate police agencies do not solicit on the phone. These people are bottom feeders, who prey on people who think they will get a break from the police if they contribute. These idiots are on the same level as used car salesmen and tv evangelists.
called on my cell phone, left no message, just listed as name unknown. How did they get my cell#?
they CALLED I ANSWERED THE PHONE HANG UP
STOP CALLING FOR DONATIONS.WE ARE IN DIFFICULT TIMES TO SUPPORT OUR FAMILY HOW CAN WE SUPPORT YOU?
It is probably "Florida Order of Police"
I have been getting calls from one of the above listed phone numbers too. In researching I found it might be the Texas Fraternal Order of Police Foundation. They are nationwide. I do not know if this is who it is because I do not answer calls for donations.
Dead air on the other end. Please do not call again!
Rob Larson Aug 18th, 2009
They called and when we answered the phone they hung up
I had about a month where no one was calling my phone but they've started up again. These guys are new. I don't have voicemail or an answering machine, just caller id. If I don't recognize the number, I never pick it up. There's one number that has been calling me for 2 1/2 years and they have never gotten me on the phone, not even once. You think after 2 1/2 they would get the hint, but no. They are stupid.
thedreaming Aug 18th, 2009
Asked "Is the lady of the house in," I said "no."
He seemed stunned by my answer and I think he confered in a whisper to someone else. (He's in traning?)I went to speaker-then hung up phone sitting in silence for some 40 seconds. He said he couldn't hear anyone and would call back later.
and..the monkey probably will. LOL
got this call again...they are asking for donations for FOP which I do not do anytime. A caller back in 1996 got into a shouting frenzy on me when I said that I would not give. I asked for his Supervisor and he hang phone up.
This number is calling my eldery mother's phone and she didn't recognize the number so didn't pick up but the information above registered on her phone. Sombody needs to inable this number to keep them from pestering people who don't wish to be bothered from someone trying to get the older people's money away from them. For God's sake... hold a bake sale and leave people alone.
Only on my caller ID....I wasn't home, but wish these calls would stop!
The caller asked for me by name, then proceeded to put on a recorded message. I am a police officer and I know this is a bogus foundation. FOP and the PBA do not solicit the public for funds...the police pay dues into these two organizations. They just use the FOP and PBA to get free money from people who will think it benefit the police. NOT TRUE! DON"T FALL FOR THESE BOGUS TELEMARKETERS.
Police Officer Aug 15th, 2009
THEY HAVE CALLED HER ASKING FOR THE PERSON THAT HAD MY NUMBER OVER 1 1/2 AGO. TOLD THEM THAT MY HUSBAND WORKS FOR THE STATE AS A FIREFIGHTERIF I WANT TO DONATE TO THE POLICE I WOULD DO IT LOCALLY. .
A man called me from this number, caller ID said FL FOP FOUND 1-561-807-0497, said he was from the Fraternal Order of Police, and asked to speak to my dead grandfather. I told him I hate cops, but I hate telemarketers even more, and to go to hell. Hopefully, they get the message and won't bother me anymore.
My relative is a cop and they NEVER call for donations. These callers have NOTHING to do with FOP, they just want your money!!! Same goes for Firefighters or Veterans!
Party hung up after I answered.
This was a recording...I could tell! when I wanted Some Info they didn't respond to me they finished what they said and hung up.
Called and then hang up. Annoying. Won't donate a penny to the Fraternal Order of Police
FL FOP Found on my caller ID. The charities are exempt from the Do Not Call legislation (I think), but they are still annoying. I do not understand why government departments continually ask the citizenry for more money, especially when so many of us are hurting financially. Ironically, it's the government that has put the citizens in financial trouble by improperly regulating the culprits. Please stop calling us FL FOP Found and get your money elsewhere.
Called at 9:20am on Tuesday.
Called at 10:30 EDT--no one on line when I answered. This call was undoubtedly from an outbound dialer and whoever was supposed to be picking up the call on their end was either asleep at the switch or for some reason can't (or didn't really feel like) talking to me at that time. BTW, outbound dialers will have a few seconds delay from when someone picks up the phone to when it actually rings into an operator's headset. One or two "hello's" from you with no response generally indicates an automated dialer that's waiting for the live person to connect on their end.
Called twice. Today at 9:07. Didn't answer. It rang 3 times and they hung up.
STOP THESE CALLS. Calling at 8:20a.m. calls your name then hangs up. This needs to stop. Not the first time
Do not ever call me again. It is very RUDE to call and hang up.
just joyce Jul 24th, 2009
FOP...Fraternal Order of Police
If this is the FPO, they are calling out of their area - we get enough calls from the local ones.
Called my mobile phone @ 8:20am on a Monday. Not amused. No message left.
