This is a law firm in watauga TX calling people with different kinds of warrants asking them if they want to make a payment. I want to know how they got my cell phone number. They are even listed on the Watauga TX website as a collection agency you can call. The number is listed as a mobile number.

These people call me 3 or 4 times a week. I recently changed my number. I'm guessing the person they are trying to reach had this phone number previously. So annoying!

I get from one to two automated telephone calls from this number (512 590 8544) every day requesting me to call 866-955-5455. I never return these calls.

This is the most unprofessional law firm I have ever dealt with. Called them back after they hung up without saying anything and let a collector know that they need to ID themselves and ask if they have the right number before they hang up to prevent future calls to my phone.

Ms. Thompson, you won't need to change your phone number, just your approach. To a ''not me'' case I always recommend putting a collection agency on notice, just as you would if you were the target and the debt claim was invalid. Send a ''cease-communication'' notice via USPS Certified with return card. This is the method promoted by the FTC and many consumer watchdogs, and the only way to set a legal landmine, as such a notice is ignored at their risk of a lawsuit from you. You may already be due some payback if you can prove you've endured abusive or misleading treatment in an effort to collect debt.
