Didn't answer the number because it was unknown.
Cigna is my Health Care Provider through the American Postal Worker's Union. I had received a dropped call and decided to Google the number. I found this page, which referenced Cigna and decided to call the number back. The first person I spoke to verified my identity. She gave me enough info for me to be satisfied that she was legit. She then transferred me to a Provider Nurse, who was very helpful with several suggestions specific to my medical condition. One of their purposes is to co-ordinate services between myself and my provider, and to address any other issues that need attention. So I am satisfied that this is not a telemarketer. There were NO SALES PITCHES OR SURVEYS. Otherwise, I would have contacted FTC in a heartbeat.
However, I DID inform the receptionist that I had observed numerous complaints here about dropped automated calls and no voice messages. She did promise to pass that observation on to her superior.
Called me several times. Hangs up when I answer.
They call at least once a day. Yes we have Cigna, but I won't answer because if Cigna is too cheap to give the 3rd party dedicated phones with a caller ID that says Cigna, to me they aren't Cigna. I completely believe the warnings that this is an attempt to work around HIPPA laws. I am able to block numbers with my phone company, but I think I already blocked one number that they use. If I did, they probably passed my name and number to the "nurse" on their right. Which is another thing...how do you know they are really nurses?
This is CIGNA's Well Aware health program, though why they'd have called at 8:35 a.m. and rung the phone only twice I can't guess.
third party entities that work on behalf of insurance co. i believe are exempt from the hippa law, which meens they can do what they want with your information

I wasn't home when they called, but I do have cigna and they do a wellness once a month just to check up on my diabetes. I agreed to get their calls since I am new to diabetes. always help with any questions I have and pushed me to see a eye dr. seem to care to me.

This is the cigna well aware program, its a health education service that people with cigna are entitled to if they have even the slightest health condition its not in their interest to bother people or call and not say anything they are trying to assist the portion of the population that is not well educated on their current health conditions.

THESE PEOPLE ARE RELENTLESS. THEIR # SHOWS UP ON MY CALLER ID AT LEAST TWICE A DAY, WITH "UNKNOWN CALLER" FOR THE ID NAME. I'M GLAD THAT I FINALLY PLUGGED THE # IN HERE....NOW I KNOW! THANKS!
This number is for the Cigna Well Aware program. Registered Nurses call to help people with diseases like diabetes, cardiac disease, COPD, asthma, lower back pain, etc. The nurses are extremely nice and are there to help and answer any questions about your health. The service is free, a benefit of your Cigna insurance. Health information provided is protected by federal law. They have told me that they use an automated dialer system so they can reach more people during the day, that is why a message isn't left everyday.

Here's the deal: it's the Health Awareness program sponsored by Cigna Health Insurance (it's one of their free plans for its members)
I receive calls from this number and today I called itback. It is definately a Cigna Wellness program number. They have info about me but I chose not to confirm the data just incase the data was compromised.
Wow...just 5 minutes and now 8 months of calls will stop. Thank you so much Jim for the other contact number. The lady was very polite and apologetic. She said it was a computerized calling program. I gave her No personal info other than my name and location and date of birth. She had my account pulled and showed the lower back pain from car accident in Oct. 2006. She made notations to remove me from the "Cigna Well Aware" program and said I would receive a letter in the mail confirming so. Hopefully she is right and truthful. Then why bother us at all if you're just going to hang up onthe machine. I have been a Cigna participant for over 10 years. This is my first major car accident that required chiropractic care. Cigna has never called to checkon me before then. The accident was in October and they keep calling! Someone called claiming to be a nurse with CIGNA healthcare. I doubt that CIGNA would give out any of my information, but somehow she had it. This is not a CIGNA number so there is some kind of funny business going on.
Why is CIGNA calling and hanging up or breathing in people's ears? Maybe you should contact your state Attorney General's office or your Dept of Insurance. Crazy people work for "wellness" places.. hahaha.. they called me today at 3:45pm EST. I missed the calll, no message left on voice mail.
I get a phone call from this number at least 1 time a day and they just hang up. I called the number back and they said my husband had to call to get off of their list. It was from Cigna well something.

These companies are hired by medical insurers to collect more information from you than they can. They also try to discourage you from using your benefits for what they consider to be frivolous cases. One of them, a licensed RN, asked me why I see a chiropractor regularly, and that exercise could help lower back pain instead. I never said I had lower back pain, and she's budding into the fiduciary relationship I have with my doctor. I hung up on her, and from that point forward I never answer these calls. This company is NOT looking out for your best interest, so be very careful about what you tell them, or don't tell them anything at all. You're under no obligation to answer the call.

number has something to do with a survey through Nationwide which is also my insurance, God...I'm fine...leave me alone!

Who are these freaking people. They call day and night all hours, 2-3 times a day. Weekends too. I am sick of it. I too was rear-ended back in October 2006, but my case has been settled and car replaced so why do they keep calling! This number is from Healthways in Phoenix. They are contracted by Cigna to help people with cronic problems. Diet, backpain, depression... it was an information service and they are there for advice and to mail out informative info. They take calls for this and seemed legitimate. I was with Cigna and they had my address and DOB. They also knew what I was treated for in the past. Info only Cigna and my DR. would have.
They told me its an "automatic dialer." BS if you ask me

called me again today - hung upo so I called them back from another number and guess what - they answered - said they are a health service for Cigna Healthcare - but tried to get my name and information about me when asking - I told them if they call again I would report them to the state and federal services

They call, never leave a message, and when I pick up, they hang up. They call every day between 2 and 3 PM. Found out it may be from an University college in Phoenix that supports online courses.

I receive calls from this number several times a week. In my case, it's the University of Phoenix online contacting me. However, the number may actually be a national call center that works on behalf of many different companies.
It's the same story: They just want to see if it's a valid number, we guess. Every time we pick it up, they hang up.
Calls from 480 including this number call and then simply hang up.
