This phone number is calling to try to SCAM money for the Fraternal Order of Police. I have NOT called the number, nor will I. It directs you to a customer service department that can answer questions using potentially manipulative techniques, help you waste your donation on fundraising fees, or anything else related to the FOP getting a small fraction of your donation, 12% to 27% Some fundraiser's pocket as much as 73% to 90% and up. Also, there’s information on www.badgefraud.org on the massive numbers of warnings put out by FOP Lodges that do not use so called professional fundraisers and Real Police and Sheriff and Fire Departments. But you can contact them there with any questions or requests.
BadgeFraud (dot) org is doing a lot of really great things for POLICE OFFICERS FAMILIES and the people that post are NOT trying to raise money, they are trying to protect the money of the people who protect us, and that is something very good.
And i dont even live in kenniwick
got a call from these guys saying something about donating to the kenniwick police saw a 425 number and said youre calling me about tri cities police from seattle then got hung up on smells like a SCAM
I am continously getting these calls. They never leave a message, so I finally called the number back. It said Fraternal Order of Police, but would only let you leave a message. The calls have come from 2 different numbers. I feel that it is harassment.
Even if the call originates from the Fraternal Order of Police, Washington State, check them out with the WA Secretary of State website. Of the over $800,000 they took in last year, only 20% went to "program services." The balance went to expenses. Hardly the sort of charity I'd want to donate to.
They keep calling, usually between 5pm and 8pm. I wish they would stop. I never answer the call.

I believe the faternal order of police does have something to do with it. If they were made aware of some company posing as them they are the police, they should take action to stop them or have them investigated. Don't be naive. If you a political militant or have any involvement in the community, be aware. Don't pretend that the FOP isn't aware of anything b/c I'm pretty sure they know all about what's going. The numbers that are being call probably have been selected from a list they've manifested over a period of time. Wake up, People!!! They are impersonating a Law Enforce Faternity. What's wrong with this picture?

They are now calling under the number of 206-866-1923
, I blocked the 425 number. This 206 one just says Bainbridge Island. I have had them call listing their name as POTS, Tops, Mem Found...ultimately this is a SCAM!!! The people that say it is legit must work for the scammers!!! Do not give them money - contribute to the WA Faternal Order of Police website if you want to give money.
THEY ALSO USE THE PHONE NUMBERS 253-275-360 and 425-437-0640
. Next time they call, just tell them, "This is a DO NOT CALL listed phone number. You are being reported to the FCC and Stae Attorney Generals Office and I am filing a lawsuit to sue you for $1500 per listing on the caller ID as allowed by the State Attorney General."
It's a scam. I've gotten calls from this twice now and everytime I ask "Brian" to repeat who it is he is calling from (he rattles off something that sounds like "this is Brian from C Fur Sea calling on behalf of the Washington Fraternal Order of the Police - but don't worry, you're not in trouble....") he then hangs up.
Incredibly rude! They suspect I'm going to ask them to stop calling, and hang up prior to my being able to notify them.
Calling the number back it leads to a voice mail for the Washington Fraternal Order of the Police. It says call volume is heavy, puts me on hold for 3 minutes, then goes to a voicemail message. Doubt they ever check it.
Ultimately, it's a scam. They don't really have any connection with the FOP or they wouldn't behave this way, and you'd be able to ask them to stop calling. Anyone on this board claiming otherwise is obviously a part of this scam, and has learned about this board and is trying to cover up the truth.
What a bunch of crap. DO NOT give money to this agency - if you want to give to the FOP contact them via their website.
Got a call from this # the other day. However, unlike many of their compatriots who think they're a vitamin (one-a-day), they have only called once.
A TRUE charity would NEVER hang up on you if you ask to take a message.....Very rude!!!!!!!!
And here's something to think about; Terri,a, Ted, Bernadette, janet, and Steve beleive this is legit, but they may just be the folks running this scam.
This site does not verify your ID in anyway!!!!

Fairly rude phone solicitation when I disagreed with the solicitor's assertion that "drugs and alcohol are the single most important issue facing our youth." Won't ever garner a donation from me!

This is a charity! Do you read the Do Not Call list before signing up? Charities, political calls and calls from agencies associated with business you do business with, ie. a call from someone wanting to sell you insurance for a credit card you have, are exempt of the DNC list! They are free to call you between the hours of 9am and 8 or 9pm.
This is not a scam it is a real agency, I know several of the officers on the board, I was a 911 dispatcher in Kennewick for 8 years. They use call centers to make the calls, that is why you see the same phone number for different agencies.
ok first...FRED - if you look at the website... wafop.com its actually memorial "found"ations!! so they didn't miss spell its abreviated!!
second - BEWARE - you looked up the wrong website....its not the STATE of Washington...its the FOP!!! www.wafop.com
They are legit and actually very nice...just donate if you can...its to a good cause
I just got the call, didn't answer but no message was left. So called them back, and they said "your calls are important to us, your call will be answered in the order in which it was received." Then recording came on and said "one minute waiting time, approx." Then the machine answered and said to "Please leave a message!" NO live person ever answered, so this is all done with computers and you will not get to talk to anyone. My message left with them was, DO NOT CALL EVER AGAIN!! Added note: I just recently signed up again for the DO NOT CALL list, and the phone person told me you should renew the "do not call list" about every 6 months. You have to call the 800 number from the phone you want to register with the DO NOT CALL program. Also, the Do NOT CALL phone number is available from your local phone service, just call and ask. Good luck, I hate these people trying to bother us for money!
Bernadette is right...they are legit. The fraternal order of police. The recording is confusing at first, but "it" was nice haha. just donate when you can/if you want.
Have received the following calls:
04/15/09 from 206-682-0415
, "FOP Memorial"--this is a Seattle Area Code
5/12/09 from 509-244-8705, "Police Memorial Fund"--this is a Spokane Area Code (see above)
05/21/09 from 206-866-1920
from "Police Memorial Fnd"--a Seattle Area Code
6/8/09 from 360-547-1900
from "Police Memorial Fund"--this is a California number
06/15/09 from 425-437-0640
from "FOP Mem Found"--a friend has a CA cell phone with this Area Code
06/22/09 from 253-275-3600
9 from "Police Mem Fnd"--I hung up on this caller; don't recognize the Area Code.
There has been recent activity in Spokane dedicating a police memorial but something odd is going on.
I am a former Spokane Police employee but have no idea why all these varied callers are contacting me.
This is legit believe it or not! I called the Secretary of State's Charitable Organizations Registry and called the Policeman's Memorial Fund DIRECTLY. The phone numbers I gave them were all of the companies that they utilize to make the calls for solicitation for them on their behalf. What's even more interesting (you will not believe this!) when these companies call you, they are pre-recorded messages you are speaking with. They do not have the ability to speak with you directly. You ask a question and they push a button for a response. WSP Memorial Fund claims it's impossible for solicitors to speak with you personally, so therefore it's impossible for them to be personally aggressive, to curse, or to otherwise be specifically rude. Sounds totally fishy, but they are a registered and legit charity.

OK, here is the info: FOP Mem Found = Fraternal Order of Police Memorial Foundation. P.O. Box 2097, Kirkland, WA 98083. Customer service in Utah - I reached Heather at 1-425-437-0640 - I think she ansered by mistake. I said my cellphone had dropped the call and I wanted to send money. She had my house phone number and wife's name in their system. I know we are in the "Do Not Call" system. They need to be shut down!!
Let's gang up on the callers!!!!!!
Next time, stay on the line when they call. It's a machine calling and if you stay on long enough, a real person who gets paid "commission only" will eventually come on the line. Just talk slow, act excited about their wonderful charity, offer to donate $200 or more - $1000 would be real good - tell them you just inherited a million dollars.
Talk really really slow!!! Then have lots of trouble finding your credit card or remembering your address.
They call repeatedly. Who are they really! ???????? FYI: FOP Mem Found probably stands for "Fat Officers' Police Memorial Foundation" - or some other variation.
Rude Idiots inc. ; if they're NOT gonna leave a message, why do they bother calling??!
Got to be a scam. Idiots can't even spell -- "FOUND" instead of FUND. What assholes!
I received a mysterious phone call from the above number, and instead of calling back, I did the reverse phone look up and found this site. I have recently received calls asking for donations to a long distance police force. I told them I had to go. Maybe that call was from this number too. I will look through my caller ID.
Have no idea who they are & why they are calling.
The Washington State Law Enforcement Memorial Foundation website (at http://www.wslemf.org/donate.htm) clearly states that they do not seek donations using telephone solicitations.
These calls are scams!
No its not real, it is fake, if you ask them for an actual address they will not give it to you, they only want credit info. I saw it on the local news a few days back so watch out. I keep getting them from different locations and numbers. This is the newest number I am getting calls from now.
Says Maple Valley WA now. Used to say the FOP MEM FOUND but maybe they changed it after the news article on the scam.
Didn't leave a message, but even if thay had, I would have erased it, for I don't listen to messages from numbers I don't recognize. I don't appreciate cold calls from anyone! When someone calls me the first time I always ask how it will show up on caller ID, so I know who is calling.
I HEARD THE PHONE RING ONCE. THEN I LOOKED AT THE CALLER ID, IT SAID MAPLE VALLEY WA. I CALLED BACK AND AN ANSWERING MACHINE CAME ON BUT I LEFT NO MESSAGE BECAUSE IT JUST SAID," PLEASE LEAVE A MESSAGE".I DIDN'T KNOW WHO WAS CALLING OR WHY. I THOUGHT IT WAS WIERD BECAUSE I DON'T EVEN KNOW ANYBODY FROM MAPLE VALLEY.

I think if they are the real thing, then what's up with showing on my caller ID as FOUND instead of FUND, that makes no sense. Don't they know how to spell?
425-437-0640 Maple Valley WA shows up on caller ID. A guy was soliciting donations for the police. Yeah right. Calling me in Shoreline for what police department? I will donate locally. My mom in Des Moines is getting same calls.
Smooth talker...when I said I didn't want to spell my name over the phone, he hung up.
I called the number back and got the police memorial fund, it is legitimate
They called my cell, I think this is the second time they have called. No message.
You would think if they were legitimate, that they would know how to spell FUND. They are spelling it as FOUND on the caller ID.
This is NOT a legitimate memorial fund for the police and firefighters! I called the Sheriff's office and they told me "DO NOT DONATE TO THIS SCAM"!
I called the number back and it's for the Police Memorial Fund
