My father answered when they called. They claimed that they were from Windows 8 support, and they had received a report that his computer may be infected with a virus. He told them that there was no chance, the joke was on them, that we use LINUX in this house, and that his son (me) is the one to turn to for help on such issues. He then very politely suggested they remove the number from their lists, as they had promised to do last time they called (from a different number) 4 months ago. The heavily-accented Indian said he would, and that he was sorry for the inconvenience, and then he hung up.
First time when out of town, did not answer and no message left. Today I answered and caller states calling about my home computer and windows. I started having computer issues prior to Christmas. Then significant problems with Facebook security. I fell for the email and supplied picture of drivers license and passport. I since deactivated fb account, changed passwords, notified friends and family. Also reported to Dept of Justice, Bank, Equifax, Experian and TransUnion Credit Reporting agencies. This number is south of California on Mexico peninsula. Hackers with a big ego and trying to get more info than we could imagine. Hope they get caught and prosecuted.
