To get them to stop - their machine is relentless - in California, you can call 951-734-7463
and ask them to take your number off the list. I found the number at their main website: www.fop.net Go to the Contact us link, then Lodge Finder. The caller ID on my phone said it was lodge 1. All you have to do is enter the lodge number - it's a 3 digit number, so 1 = 001 - and the state and it will give you a number to call. Calling the number that called you won't work. Hope this is helpful.
This phone number is calling to try to SCAM money for the Fraternal Order of Police. I have NOT called the number, nor will I. It directs you to a customer service department that can answer questions using potentially manipulative techniques, help you waste your donation on fundraising fees, or anything else related to the FOP getting a small fraction of your donation, 12% to 27% Some fundraiser's pocket as much as 73% to 90% and up. Also, there’s information on www.badgefraud.org on the massive numbers of warnings put out by FOP Lodges that do not use so called professional fundraisers and Real Police and Sheriff and Fire Departments. But you can contact them there with any questions or requests.
BadgeFraud (dot) org is doing a lot of really great things for POLICE OFFICERS FAMILIES and the people that post are NOT trying to raise money, they are trying to protect the money of the people who protect us, and that is something very good.
is the LA FOP LODGE phone number that I've received. I donate directly to my local LAPD station through Neighborhood Watch.
Last I heard, haven't done lots of research, however, I heard the people who call are prisoners in prison working for this company.
These people want me to give them information?
This phone number is calling to do fund raising for the Los Angeles County Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #1. I have called the number. It directs you to a customer service department that can answer questions, help you donate, or anything else related to the FOP. Also, there’s information on www.cafop.org . Plus, you can contact them there with any questions or requests.
The FOP is doing a lot of really great things for LA County police officers and the people that call are trying to help them raise money so they can do even more good.
They've been calling around 9pm over the last weeks. Today I picked up, let him do his pitch and then asked for their website (I want to do a bit of research before giving money; seems reasonable - no?). Anyway, he just hung up. Makes it seem like a scam to me.
Now that I know who has been calling, I'll continue to ignore them. The police don't come to my neighborhood's aide for hours after the calls for help are made. They've got their "marching orders" to write as many tickets and tow as many cars away as possible. The fines are huge, they make mistakes on paperwork and my family has paid the price for that. I have paid over $2,500 in fines to keep the city/county from permanantly keeping my daughter's car because of typos on reports that the police and DMV are slow to acknowledge and rectify. The city, county and state rake in billions of "free tax money" this way and they make it very difficult to recover from their so-called duty to "protect and serve". They have been reduced to being roaming "tax collectors", only thing is that we can't deduct these expenses when filing on April 16th. So, LA FOP Lodge is law enforcement asking for donations? Guess what? They've gotten their "friggin" donations already. Now I have to figure out how to pay the rest of my household bills. LA FOP Lodge 1 can kiss my A#s, early in the morning!!!
Got the call about 6:30 PM. When I answered, they hung up. Caller ID said LA FOP FOUND. I no longer live in LA, but I have VOIP so I still have an LA area code. I hope they don't call back. Sounds like a fraud to me. Now that I have answered they will probably call again. They are likely looking for valid numbers and then call back to try to get you to give them money...just my assumption based on the other comments.
Most likely a legitimate organization. Still the Fire/Police Department are not calling but an organization that specializes in calling for donations. They will take a percentage (usually larger) and then pass on (almost always smaller) a percentage to the charity. I personally won't donate on the phone but am curious so I ask what % gets passed on to the charity. They should know but these telemarketers usually don't, make it up, or hang up, since they are likely on a base + commission.
Worthwhile to donate but do it directly to the Fire/Police yourself.
This number is used for fundraising for the Los Angeles County Fraternal order of Police. We are raising money to help our officers. If you have any questions, please call the number on your call id and you will be directed to our customer service department.
They ask for the lady of the house and I said there is no lady of the house,Then he mention that he was with the police Department and I was in no trouble and as he started asking for donations, I said i give no donations.
Then he hung up.
Hi. It is me again. If you do not want LA FOP FOUND calling you and If you have AT&T CALL SCREEN/ CALLER ID feature. Check my comment below for instructions. It works. They used to call me every week, now I do not see/hear them calling. Why? Because my AT&T CALL SCREEN feature blocked them.
Oh. Another method. My brother got a Panasonic Cordless Phone. It has a BLOCK unwanted telephone number feature. He just entered all the LA FOP FOUND telephone numbers and as soon as they call, they hear a busy signal at once. It works too.
I also received a call from LA FoP Found #323-208-3952
. I was a little curious because my auto has -Fop-- on my plate?
I've done a little more digging. FOP is a national organization. The national's web site is at www (dot) fop (dot) net. They have a California chapter at www (dot) cafop (dot) org. Google on "fraternal order of police" to read up on them. Since they are exempt as a charitable organization from state and national Do Not Call laws, probably the best that can be done is to navigate to the "contact us" page at cafop, call or email them, and ask to be put on their private "do not call" list (they probably do maintain one, you just have to be persistent until you reach someone in charge of it). Call blocking service from the phone company is another solution, but the service is fairly limited: only a few numbers at a time can be blocked, and there are other limits. Another alternative is to get one of the various devices on the market that can be programmed, based on the incoming caller ID, to: stop the call from ringing your phone, immediately divert the call to an answering machine or other device, play SIT tones (the three ascending whistling tones you hear just before the "this number is disconnected or no longer in service" recording) so that the caller or auto-dialing equipment they use thinks your number is disconnected so that it is removed from their call list, and other fun things. Unfortunately, the best of these, the 'Intelliscreener', is out of business, but there are others. Google is your friend. :) (Try 'telephone call screen'.)
I got a call from them last night, from 323-208-3952
. I am also on the Do Not Call registry; unfortunately, charitable organizations, political organizations, telephone surveyors, and other such nuisances, are exempt under the law-- because they are not telemarketers. My phone is also unlisted. Telephone canvassers do not use telephone directories, they just call every number in the area they want to cover (that's why their call centers are sometimes called "boiler rooms"). When I do not recognize the caller ID displayed, I usually answer (just in case), but am prepared to dismiss the caller. The rep from LA FOP asked for the lady of the house. When I told him I live alone, he started in with his pitch: "The police keep you safe, but you probably do not think of us." I Googled on LA FOP FOUND, found this page, and that Los Angeles and Louisiana both have a Fraternal Order of Police that go by LA FOP FOUND.
They called at 7:20 pm last night, no message, frustrating that people can call you and you have no idea who they are.
LA FOP FOUND (323) 208-3941
same here, got a call late at night. no message
I get a call from "LA FOP FOUND" every evening between 7 and 8pm - 323-208-3952
is the number of the caller. It is extremely frustrating to be unable to stop these annoying calls.
It's been an annoying phone calls from this number (323) 208-3941 and caller ID says LA FOP Found in every single night between 7 to 8 PM. I'm on a Do not call registry, but it does not work at all. HOw can you stop this kind of calls.
some one call and told my sister I will call you latter, I call back on this # and the answering mashing is tacking, but i do not know why they call us
If you have a complete choice package from AT&T, your line is equipped with Call Screen/ Caller ID. As soon as you see LA FOP FOUND on your Caller ID, do not answer the phone. After it stop ringing or after they hung up, use the CALL SCREEN menu from AT&T by pressing *60 (asterisk 60) and follow instructions. To Turn On CALL SCREEN, press 3. To include the tel. number of the last caller (LA FOP FOUND), press # 01 #. AT&T says if this phone number called(LA FOP FOUND), your home phone will not ring instead LA FOP FOUND will hear a polite message that you do not want to talk to them. As User ID "C" wrote, They have another phone number 323-208-3952
I do not know if it will work or not because I just turned ON my CALL SCREEN feature today. Hope it works.
LA FOP FOUND 323-208-3941 on my caller id. They never leave a message.
How do we stop them from harassing us?
rocketmouse Sep 05th, 2009
I get these calls 3 times a day and they never leave a msg. I have a private unlisted number
Remember, NEVER give money to cold-calling telemarketers no matter who they say they represent. Even if they're moderately legit, the actual charity will receive only a small portion of your money. If it's a charity you care about, contact them directly or use their web site.
esta es una organisacion haciendose pasar como que estan organisados con la policia de Los Angeles. Solo buscan dinero...es un fraude..
the number that came up on my ID was 323-208-3952
. they hung up when i said hello
They called and asked for money but were not able to say how they got my number. When I asked for some type of business license or verification of the organization, he suddenly said "we have a bad connection" and hung up. This is not a legitimate group!
Quiero saber de quien es este # 323-208-3948
hablan y no dicen que es lo que quieren.
By the way, phone numbers on my caller ID for LA FOP FOUND are (323)208-3941 or 323-208-3944
I get the same Caller ID for LA FOP Found calling once a week. If this is the Los Angeles Fraternal Order of Police Foundation, you are right Alex, they are just asking money. They will not leave any message on my answering machine. If I do not know the person on my caller ID, I do not answer. Not only will they call, two of my friends received a letter from Police foundation if you are in LAPD territory, and Sheriff foundation if you are in Sheriff territory. They are asking donation or join a yearly membership and in return they give you a bumper sticker and ID that you are a member or have donated.
ablan y no dejan mensaje. y regreso la llamada y no contestan
This is supposedly a charity... The Los Angeles Fraternal Order of Police Foundation.... just another organization out to ask for your money....
Receive this call at least once a day.
