A woman started leaving a message on the answering machine for a man whose whose first name starts with 'J' and whose last name is the same as mine. I'm NOT him and I don't know him! I picked up the receiver and told her she had the wrong #. Apparently, they're calling every phone listing for 'J' and my last name. I've received other calls for this man; so, I must assume this company will sell the 'account' . . . . . again . . . . . and yet another disreputable company will call me . . . . . again! What a bummer!
I received a call from the above telephone number, 206-777-3713, saying it was about my business which is no longer in business. It could be regarding my company which was registered under Imageworx, inc. I am getting nowhere with the legal company that had a number of 303-218-7550
, which says it is a collection company. Can you help me?

These people called me saying they were lawyers working with my neighbors about a legal matter. When I asked them what it was regarding the gentleman calling was very evasive and just said it was a legal matter. When I directly asked him if this was a collections (sounded a little like it I've done collections myself) he directly lied to me saying it was not in regards to that and he was working with my neighbors over a legal matter. Then I googled the number and found this. These guys are liars and if you see this number tell them never to call you again.

Have been receiving calls with no messages for past two years..finally started to pick them up and
different people each time...sometimes hear other people talking in background with foreign accents...
they ask for someone name "Mariano" and that they are from Chase Bank...keep telling them no one by that
name lives here and to stop calling...but calls, although not as frequent, don't stop, even with threating
to call police. Last conversation with them they said they were from a lawyers office.
Number is 303-218-7550
from Denver, Co, and listed as MCIMETRO, ATS INC.
These guys are scumbags -- third party debt collectors posing as Lawyers. They will call everybody and anybody that you have associated with and claim to be filing a law suit to collect a debt.
There strategy... they want to help in your financial counseling. They will ask the details of how you are paying your current debts - typically car, utilities, phone, etc. then they will want bank information and possibly credit card into. They have already pulled your credit report to gain an upper hand on you.
Here is what you do.
1. Tell them you would like to have your lawyer talk to their in-house council and can you get his/her direct contact information so you may pass it along to your lawyer (don't worry if you don't have one).
2. DO NOT DISCLOSE any information regarding bank accounts, usable credit cards -- NOTHING. You are not required to disclose any personal information such as how you are covering the rest of your liabilities to these Hyenas. The only info you should discuss is very specific to the specific debt they are collecting.
3. If they choose to file suit, make sure you a) don't get upset. B) contact a lawyer for help, C)put in a notice of appearance, D) above all DO NOT IGNORE the information as they maybe able to get a summary judgment against you. In most states the courts are jammed with these cases and it could take 18 to 24 months to get a judge to hear the case, but you must follow the above A,B, C's.
4. Assuming you do owe the debt, tell them the debt is in dispute as the credit card company overcharged fees and higher interest rates and that is why you are not paying. This creates a mess for the debt collector as they don't know who to believe. Furthermore, you will not pay them even if they cut the debt in half becuase the bank has killed your credit and before you pay any money back the bank must remove the entire account from your credit report (I've had 7 removed already). So, if they hit your credit bureau rating you can get it removed (which will take six months).
Stay cool with these Hyenas, don't get upset with these scavengers. The cooler you stay, only discussing information regarding this debt, the more pissed off they will get. Make sure you continue to ask them why are they getting so upset -- "I'm not mad at you why are you so mad at me" is the line I kept repeating.
I found this phone call more like a sporting event. Thoroughly enjoyable and i can't wait till they call again.
Lastly, if you do owe the debt and they continue to engage in this sport -- eventually you will be able to settle for 15% of the debt. They will be so tired of you, knowing there is NOTHING THEY CAN DO TO YOU. Regardless of what they say. Remember, they purchased the debt for about 10% to 15% of what you owe. If they collect more than 30% to 45% of the debt, they have to split it with the bank. Therefore, after a while and your debt having gone from Hyena to Hyena in their company, the proprietor of this Vulture Ville will just want to get their cost back.
Good luck, stay strong and remember -- Unsecured Debt is just that Unsecured!!! Touch S**t Credit Card companies -- let the consumers now have their revenge!!!
Got a message from their 866 number last week with some British sounding VRU. Message went on forever... If you are... if you aren't... blah blah blah...
Looked them up... crooked as they come... Since this time, I have gotten so much spam an phishing email it is not even funny. Not saying it is connected, but, strange it started at the same time...
Today... half a ring from this Colorao area code... no message...
Be warned, as said before, looked these jokers up on a couple of different websites. Their tactics are as low as they go...
I have no idea who this was and since we're just getting a new answering machine there was no message. We've been getting calls for people we've never heard of about debts, credit payments, and debt adjustments since we bought our house at the beginning of March from a bank, so I'm guessing it's something to do with the previous owners and collections.
This person called a place of business asking for an employee... Our employees are not allowed personal calls, unless it is an emergency - Debt collects should NOT be able to call work places... I have more important things to do then take messages for an employee... They have their home # - CALL THERE and deal with it.
called 2 times today. both times my husband answered and was told that it was urgent that che speak to me but would not leave a call back number. must not be too important

Called my current in-laws in Oregon looking for my ex-husband.I divorced him in 1993. He lives in Hawaii and has no connection to Oregon. Not sure how they connected him to my current husband's parents phone number! I called and informed them of this. The woman was polite and said she would note the file so no one would call them again.
Called sternly requiring a return call from a person I never heard of. I returned the call to inform them. 2/23/07
Called for my husband using his full name on message. Gave a toll free # and ext. Hubby called back, they were looking for someone and they stated that they had found the person and didn't need info from us. We are assuming one of our tenants and they got our name as owner of the address that the person lives at. Considering the tenant's credit history the call was not unexpected
Keeps calling for my ex-husband. I told them he doesn't live here anymore. I've told them this before but they keep calling.
This message is for Melinda, Melinda please return this call.
Lowery Law Office. They did not leave a message any of the times they called, and I suspect they aren't even calling for me. (The previous owner of my number seems to have had some issues with creditors!) Lowery Law Office is a creditor, and they have a very bad reputation according to many fraud warning sites. I would avoid giving these guys any personal information until you are 100% sure they are collecting a legit debt, and even then, I would contact the original company first to make sure they had passed the unpaid debt to Lowery.
