If you are receiving these calls and you are not the person they are looking for, 1) when they call ask them for their address, which they are required to give you, 2) send a Cease and Desist Letter to them stating that they are trying to contact someone that is not at the phone number they have and they are to cease all calls immediately to your phone number. (you can look up cease and desist letters on the net), 3) send this letter certified with a signature receipt request. Keep all documentation, date and time of each call, who you spoke to, etc. If the calls continue even after you have written your wishes you have the right to take them to small claims court for violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

For more information look up the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and learn your rights and what collection agencies can and cannot say or do. Knowledge is power and it is on your side!!!

If you ever receive a call from these bottom dweller debt collectors, 1) Never agree to anything over the phone, 2) Tell them verbally that you are disputing the debt and request all information they have concerning this debt, including original creditor's name and account number be sent to you within 30 days, 3) ask the caller for their address and the person handling the account, then send them a letter again stating that you dispute the debt and request all information be sent to you within 30 days, send this letter certified mail with a signature receipt.

Under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, this company must send you this information. Keep all documentation for later use if they continue to harrass you and you must go to court.

Verizon has a call forwarding service that will forward calls to another number (you pick it). Maybe
your phone company has this service, too. You can have calls from any number of this collection agency forwarded to another of their numbers--let them talk to themselves. Or you can pick your favorite telemarketer to
receive the calls from the collection agency, or vice-versa. Sounds like fun.

Returned call via *67 (Doesn't work with 800 Numbers), to find out that they were Credit Collection Service. The lady answered "CCS" and asked for a file number. When I asked what CCS was, she told me. I wished her a Nice day and she responded in kind before I ended the call.

CertifiedNotice = Credit Collection Services. Used to have AIG auto insurance until they decided to cancel one policy at a price of $696 6 month coverage 2 vehicles full collision after I filed a free fix for windshield repair in SC. Tried to reissue a policy for the grand amount of $1496. At first, they were refusing to fix it without a deductible. State Farm gave me my new policy for $705, same coverage no changes. Now, they are trying to collect from me and have turned it over to CCS--I have called them 2 Xs and have received and talked to someone from CCS and now they have sicced certified notice on my phone number. I have told CCS as of today, any more attempts to collect will lead to a lawsuit under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. I called AIG and told them I do not owe them anything, in fact I am very happily telling every1 about my experience with their company. There is a sign on the back of my van that says AIG $1496 State Farm $705 same coverage Bye Bye AIG and now they have led me to forums to spread the tale. CCS 800-326-6400 I went on website and put in the account from CCS that is how I know.

Called for the first time today. Showed up on caller Id with 2 numbers, this one and 301-223-0035. I ain't talking so they can keep on calling. I keep a list of this numbers by the phone so I know who I can talk to. If the number is from someone trying to sell something I answer and tell them no. That's one less person ringing my phone. I had resigned up with the Do not call registry but they said to give them 30 day's after sign up and after that the sales calls should stop. Looking at the comments on this page it could be insurance companies. My husband had Progessive and had not finished paying them.
